Title: Series 4
Post by: DSJ™ on February 23, 2005, 10:37 AM
From JediMAC: Alright, since our prior Kubrick thread was getting too big, it's time to start all over again with yet another new one - so here we go with Star Wars Kubrick thread #6 - Attack of the Kubricks!  Good time to start over, with Dale's news on the Series 4 figures!  So here's a quick recap of our Kubrick history here at JD, for anyone looking to catch up on things: Revenge of the Kubricks! (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=5606.0) (part 5), Power of the Kubricks! (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=4623.0) (part 4), Return of the Kubricks! (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=12;action=display;threadid=3677) (part 3), The Kubricks Strike Back (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=12;action=display;threadid=2020) (part 2), and if you want to read all the way back to the original thread that started it all, New Star Wars Kubricks (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=12;action=display;threadid=231) (part 1).  Now carry on, and enjoy the Kubrickmania, here at JD!

Holy God!!!

Maybe that post would be a good spot to start up an all-new Kubrick thread.  We're pretty overdue, as this one's gotten huge, and I know Scott's probably growing pretty antsy about it...   ;)

Now that is sweet :o  I'll try hard not to order a case ahead of time, but this just injected a lot of enthusiasm back into the line for me.  I was languishing, not really loving the last couple of releases while still liking them.  That is just awesome. I'm just dumbfounded that we're getting another all-OT series.  Man, Medicom must seriously dislike the Prequels, 'cause I was sure that they'd be taking advantage of the ROTS hoopla and finally putting out some Prequel stuff.  Guess not.  That's excellent news to me!

So, who's in for guesses on the chase figures?!  Mine:

Blue Coat Hoth Han
RH Vader

Yep, that's what it'll be.  You heard it here first.   :-*

Holy f'n amazing!

This, is one of the greatest waves of figures ever!

Hoth Han = Brown Coat!
Nein Nunb is a tad bit blah
Luke looks great

But the troika of Emperor, Stormie and Vader...all too sweet.  I was getting a little bit bummed after the Rebo set prices were set but this more than makes up for it!

Oh...and I'll be buying a 12" RAH Vader...that may be the greatest thing since Kubrick Series 4

Very nice.  It's great to see them tackle more of the main characters.  They even look scaled nicely with Vader being the tallest.  Since I'm a Vader fanatic, I don't imagine I'll be able to pass up on this one.

They just hit one out of the park.  Beauty.

WOW!

Here's my Kubrick "Most Wanted" list for the next few waves:

Wave 4: Return of the Jedi
1.  Darth Vader (3:12) w/Spirit Anakin Chase (1:96)
2.  Yoda (3:12) w/Spirit Yoda Chase (1:96)
3.  Slave Leia (3:12) w/ Boushh Chase (3:48)
4.  The Emperor (1:12)
5.  Jedi Luke (1:12)
6.  Stormtrooper (1:12)

Cool, I got 3/6 of my Most Wanted in Series 4 and I can handle Bespin Luke instead of Jedi Luke so that's 4/6, very nice!

I'll have to go with the Han for a Variant (based on the fact that the S2 and S3 both had Han variants), but I'll stick with my Spirit Anakin Chase guess for Vader.   :)

Any word on the cost/availability of the RAH Vader?  I don't really need another expensive Vader item, but that won't stop me.

Here was my guess after Series 2 a long, long, long time ago...anyway, quite a few I can cross off now.  I'm with Matt in that I'm shocked this is still an OT line.  I wonder if they only have an OT license?  If they do Yoda and Slave Leia, I'd be in Kubrick heaven...amazing line, just so damn damn expensive :-\

I'm amazed it's an OT series as well, but it's an incredibly smart move.  This is obviously a collector driven line, not kids, so Medicom knows that there is always a huge desire for OT stuff.  Especially with the potential glut of ROTS merchandise that will flood the stores.

Wow!  Awesome news!  Thanks for posting that info.  Vader, Emporer and Bespin Luke are great!

Nien Numb - eh...I guess they had to include a weird alien looking guy.

The one I am least looking forward to is the Stormtrooper, I guess because we already have the Sandtrooper.  I would have loved to see a Biker Scout or Hoth Stormtrooper instead.

Oh well, all in all thats a great set!

I'm still speechless.

That 12" Vader is amazingly detailed.  The RAH line is turning into and absolute classic. I'm thinking I should get in on Jedi Luke before it gets any more expensive. Only 2 collect in that line so far.  A much cheaper venture than Kubricks....for now.

Post by: stormie on February 23, 2005, 03:18 PM
Don't they usually do a completely different figure as one chase and a slightly modified figure as another? Maybe (hopefully) one of the chase figures will be a biker scout or snowtrooper. Otherwise, the guess of a holo Emperor and RH Vader looks good.

Gotta start saving my nickels and dimes for a stormtrooper.
Title: Series 4
Post by: Jeff on February 23, 2005, 03:24 PM
Well, for Chases,

Series 1 had 2 Fett chases and both were simple color variants on the arm-bands.

For Series 2, there was 1 simple Color Variant (Sandtrooper), 1 accessory variant (Cantina Band Dude), and 1 unique figure (Indy).

For Series 3, there was 1 simple "accessory" variant (vinyl cape Jawa) and TWO unique figures as chases - Carbonite Sickness Han and Logray.

That's the fun part about Kubricks - no one knows how many chases or what they will be until they are released!  There could be 3 unique figures, or maybe only 1 chase - no guarantees!

And yes, by fun I mean "fun" right up until you realize you have to start chasing figures.   :P

Any thoughts on the potential case breakdown?  That may help more so in guessing at chase figures.  Will they stick with the 4/3/2/1/1/1 ratio or will they mess with it?  My guess is it will stay the same, they have no real good reason to change it.

4 Stormtrooper - makes sense from an army building perspective and Medicom has demonstrated that for the most part they have a good grasp on the collecting marketplace.

3 - Vader.  Probably, given the overwhelming popularity of the character in both PT and OT.  I could see this being 4 per box rather than the stormie though.  I'd consider the number fairly interchangeable and cannot see Vader being less than 3 per box as a regular, he's just too popular.

2 - This one feels fairly up for grabs, could be Emperor, Han or Luke.  Luke would be logical and a nifty way to part with spares of Vader, you could sell them as two packs to folks.  This is probably where my guess will end up as we don't really have an easily accessible Luke for most people.

1 - Nien Nunb I think is a no brainer here.  Gratuitous alien that doesn't otherwise fit the series.  He's an alright character, but not a must-have in any line so singles are the best way to ensure value and popularity.

1- Emperor.  He's cool and instrumental to both trilogies (depending on what you call him at a given moment in time) but is almost in that boat with Nien.  He's far more important to the overall story, but if it's an OT lineup, he's really only in the one movie in a significant fashion.  I think they can get away with him as a single.  Depends on the homage to ROTS as well though, where his role will be the largest.

1 - Han Hoth.  I'm not convinced he should be a single figure but given we already have two Han figures as it is, I think he will be.  Great character, but I don't think there'd be a lot of complaints if he was only one per box, Han fanatics aside.

I could see them evening out the stormtrooper/vader/luke ratio to three of each and that would increase the odds a bit for the chase pieces.

I'm leaning towards chase versions of the stormtrooper (alternate figure entirely - tie pilot, snowtrooper, etc.) and then minor variations on Luke (battle damaged or clean?) and Vader (RH, lightning head).  No matter how you cut it, it's going to be a mighty cool line.

Wonder if Luke and Vader will have removable hands?

Post by: evenflow on February 23, 2005, 05:56 PM
Some interesting ideas, I still think that the RH Vader could be the re-tooled chase and I would love a Royal Guard so I wouldn't mind him as a chase.

I think a holo Emperor is a possibility, but then again they could go the carded route with that.

Sadly, I guess Yoda coul dbe a possibility and then well we will all be screwed. Who doesn't want a little Yoda.

Pretty darn close Tony.  8)

How many more Han's and Luke's do we need? Whom ever is designing them must have good knowledge of SW's.

Let's see Han Hoth... I can see a Hoth Luke with Taun Taun as a box set and maybe include Hoth Leia. Oops, getting ahead of myself again.  ;D

I really would like to see a Yoda as a chase.

Post by: drewlam on February 24, 2005, 09:29 AM
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I REALLY don't want to see any "new" figures as chase.  I don't have the funds to go after chase figures, but didn't really care when they were repaints or variants.  I'm kinda ticked that they made Logray a chase last time, because I would have liked to have picked him up.  If they were to go with a major character like yoda as a chase, I think that would probably be the end of Kubricks for me.  Even something like a royal guard would be pretty annoying.
I would rather see them stick with things like boba repaints, the vinyl cape jawa, or even the carbonite sickness han.
Title: Series 4
Post by: Morgbug on February 24, 2005, 10:09 AM
I agree Drew, I'd prefer to see series 1 style chase.  I can choose to live without those and not really be affected by it.  I'm fortunate that my disdain for Ewoks paid off big time here but I feel I paid too much for the VC Jawa (compensation for not having the real thing?).  I'd be very happy to see a modified stormtrooper (different blaster or battle damage), a modified Vader (RH, Holo, etc) or the like.  The thought of slipping Yoda in as a chase scares the crap out of me.  Same goes for any of the other mentioned "different" figures, I expect the demand (and price) for those would be sky high, given they are OT.

I'm still not clear on why companies like to have such secondary market action going on.  I understand it raises profile, but look at McFarlane, a company I think is starting to wane already.  Sure, more retailers than ever are carrying it but more is left on the pegs than ever before as well.  For the first time I saw a $2 McFarlane sportspick.  That can't thrill a retailer very much and Zellers isn't going to be happy having Kings Gretzky on the pegs for another three years.  I guess it's still working for ToyBiz with Marvel Legends, but that'll wane soon too I'd wager.
Title: Series 4
Post by: DSJ™ on February 24, 2005, 10:11 AM
I think the ratio will be the same as the past series. I'm taking a guess here that Nien Nunb, Emperor, and Han will be a ratio of 1 leaving Darth, Luke and the Stormtrooper as a ratio of 3. Good army builders the Stormtroopers will be.  ;)

Reality chase figures... something Darth and the Stormtrooper I think.  (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/a050.gif)

Then again, this is Medicom where they can suprise you with anything, remember Indy!

I really would like to see a Yoda as a chase.

No way.  As popular a character as Yoda is, there's no way that they'd make him a chase figure.  They're probably holding off on him to make him "the star" of Series 5, or something like that.  Besides, he doesn't fit thematically as a chase figure for any of the figures that are in Series 4, so it ain't gonna happen.  And as much as I'd like to get a Yoda ASAP, I don't want it to be through the hassle (and $) of tracking a chase figure down.

It's possible he'll still pop up in a ROTS themed series after Series 4, though I hope they stick with the OT stuff.

I still think a blue coated Hoth Han might be on tap, along with an RH Vader.  If we get the Blue Han, it's gonna be another impressive notch in Scott's belt, as far as helping lead the charge in that whole insane debate a couple years ago...   ;)
Title: Series 4
Post by: JediMAC on February 24, 2005, 03:28 PM
I just thought of another possible chase, other than the two I just mentioned:  Dagobah Luke (in the Bespin Luke box, of course).  It'd be a pretty boring figure for sure, but certainly within the realm of possibilities.  I'm sure Jeff probably mentioned that one in his LONG list there already, so forgive me if he did, as I didn't have all day to read through it!   :P

So my predictions for the chase(s), in order of probability, are:

1. RH Vader
2. Blue coat Hoth Han
3. Dagobah Luke
4. Holo Emperor

I saw that someone explained it to you at Kubrickworld.  If you need further assistance LMK.  It usually takes them a day or two to respond.

Anyone get the Winter Festival Max Rebo set yet?

I'm wondering what's behind the figures in the package.

Is it just tan cardboard, or a backdrop of Jabba the Hutts Palace? :-\

I can't tell from the pictures I've seen of it so far.

Looks like the box set comes with a cardboard insert of a Cantina section for displaying the Kuby's on.  8)

Yeah I just got one in. The picture is some archways in Jabba's Palace.  It's a nice touch. It would have been good if the other box sets had something like that.

I was really surprised by the size of the box. I just wrapped one and weighed it. The shipping by EMS is $28.  :-\

Complete, yet not complete.

As you can see in the bottom there Max is about 3 times the height  (including the flap) of the TRU box set and what you can't see is that it is twice the thickness.

Yeah, nice grab Tony.  Congrats!  I'm still missing that, and the Parco Sandtrooper (like most folks here).  I hate not being complete.  But I'd also hate having to deal with marriage counseling if I bought those two...  :P

Complete, yet not complete.

Why do you say "yet not complete" Simon?  It doesn't look like you're missing anything there, unless I'm having a total brainfart.  Or unless you're counting the recently announced Series 4...

That shipping cost on the Rebo set is freakin' ridiculous!  Have Japanese postage costs gone up in general over there lately, 'cause it seems like pretty much everything is getting higher and higher coming out of Japan...   :-\

Theres a couple of other places to pre-order series 4.

National Console Support (NCS) (http://mgrsti3030s.seamlesstech.biz/default.asp)

Just scroll down on the left side and click Star Wars. NCS specializes on importing Japanese video game software as with other products. $8.50 each or $102. US for a box of 12.

Toys-Chameleon (http://www.toys-chameleon.com/select.php?id=1288)

Looks like 7862 Yen or $74.86 for a box of 12. Reg: 9828 Yen or $93.62 US.

I have never delt with these 2 places so I have no idea if you get a sealed master case.

Me thinks it's best to stay with places that we have delt with.  :-\

I have dealt with Toys Chameleon.  I got my Toy Story Kubrick set A and The Nightmare Before Christmas Kubrick set C from them.  They take a while to respond, but once they get the ball rolling things go smoothly.  They ship EMS and I believe if I would have waited for their response I would have gotten my master case of series 3 for around $355 shipped.  I was impatient though and went with Spanky and paid close to $400 shipped.  Since June is a a few months off I might email them and see what they can do on a sealed master case.

Just curious  . . . is a master case the 12 piece pack (with no guarantee of getting chases) or a larger unit?

Nah. It's 4 X 12 piece boxes, sealed in a bigger carton.

In Series 1, it contained 1 x Chase Boba Fett
Series 2 had 3 x White Pauldron Sandtrooper Chase, 1 x Chase Indy
And Series 3 included 3 x Hybernation Sickness Hans and 1 x Logray or VC Jawa chase.

No guarantees on Series 4. The last three Series have been different, so I guess it'll be different again.

There are a couple of ways to approch opening the box. You can go hell for leather and rip them all open (by far the most fun option) or you can do a bit of research and get pretty close to being able to pick where the chase figures are. If you look back through the old threads  about here (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=5606.180), you'll see Jon, Dale and others did alot to take the guess work out of finding the chases. I won an auction a couple months back where the guy didn't list what sets he was selling, just "Kubridck Lot".  I got like 12 sets for $65.  They came with a huge ziplock bag of Kubrick stands.  I sold the Battle Royale set for over $100 so I actually made $$$.  OK, I'm bragging now so I'll shut up.  The point I'm trying to make is that you have to buy the old sets to get those stands.  Some of them can come cheap.

I bit the bullet on the Max Rebo set a while back, and got one for a pretty good price from a trustworthy seller.  I mentioned a while ago that I thought this set would run akin to the Early Bird set as far as value and scarcity (if not a little more), so I figured I'd splurge a little before they climbed too much.  Granted, they should drop a bit when the other 1,505 get released (when's that again?), but I think they'll be hovering around, and above, the $100 range for a long time to come.   :-\

Great shot of the insert, I like the backdrop display.  8)

That's the one I picked up . . . only $26.00 EMS shipped to the UK!  I guessed most of you guys avoided it because the picture in the listing showed a slightly damaged box (no biggie, my main concern was the Kubes), but when it turned up the box was in A1 condition . . . . result!

I managed to snag 2/3 of the chases that way last time and I had relatively little trouble selling my extras (though I do still have 2 wickets and 1 Jawa left over from Series 3  ::)).

Maybe I can get a few of the same people to go in on the case with me again?

I still wish they'd just done it identically to the vintage version.  That would've been 10x sweeter.  Not often that I actually DON'T want an extra new figure, but this is one of those extremely rare cases...

Still a way cool set though.   8)

Title: Series 4
Post by: Morgbug on March 17, 2005, 12:06 AM
Four boxes of 12.

It should guarantee one of the big chase pieces (if they stick to different chase from Hong Kong and Japan) plus three of the lesser chase pieces.  It's all subjective though depending on what happens with the chase pieces.

I think I came out pretty good price wise for Series 3, Full set of 9 for $240 shipped I believe it was.

One master case case is $340...I guess it depends on what I can sell the extra sets and minor chase for, but as I said at first.  The prices in general on these damn figures continue to skyrocket, I don't want to be left pissing in the wind, especially with Vader

Ain't that the truth.  I gotta admit, even though I've been playing with the idea of getting into these for months, it wasn't until I saw Vader (and the Stormtrooper, and the Emperor, and...) that I really got excited.

I don't think that will be a problem.   :)  A lot of us here should have three extra sets.  Personally I'm still debating whether to order a master case from Toys Chameleon or Spanky.  One things for sure I'm never going overboard like I did with series 2 again.   ;D

Holy crap! Thats a lot of Kubs!

Where is the best price so far on series 4?
BBTS has boxes for a little over 100$, and you would need to order 4 to get a sealed case.

Title: Series 4
Post by: DSJ™ on March 17, 2005, 11:38 AM
BBTS: $109.99 per box of 12. $439.96 for 4 boxes.

HLJ: $85.37 per box of 12. $341.48 for 4 boxes.

National Console: $102.00 per box of 12. $408.00  for 4 boxes.

Spanky:  (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/konfus/a050.gif)

Toys Chameleon: $75.19 per box of 12. $300.76 for 4 boxes (reservation price). $93.99 per box of 12. $375.96 for 4 boxes (regular price).

Blister.jp: $79.82 per box of 12. $319.28 for 4 boxes (reservation price). $93.95  per box of 12. $375.80 for 4 boxes (regular price).

Hmmm, Toys Chameleon has the best price thus far based on todays exchange rate, also depends on the shipping cost.

If I remember, BBTS sent out a Master Case if you order 4. Who ordered that case, Jeff?

Medicom sure loves this line, it really shows what can happen when a company cares about the quality of the product.  The detail on Rebo's Ball Organ is fantastic.  This is such an incredible set and the boxed presentation is equally stunning.

I think these little guys have easily vaulted themselves into my top ten favorite figures... which should last until Series 3 and Vader and the Emperor come out.   :P

Also, today at TRU I picked up a nice car display case that I'll be using for my Rebo Band set.  I'll probably also bust out the Speeder Bike set and set them up inside there too:

Oh your more than Welcome.  :P

I picked up a box of display cases at TRU awhile back. Made by Testors and there are 2 cases in the box. The inside demensions are 9" x 4 1/8" x 4 1/2". There made for 1/24 or 1/25 scale cars but work very well for Kuby's. They look like the same as the ones I was getting from Michaels Craft Store but without the mirror bottom base and there stackable.  8)

The top part of the case is slightly tapered at the top so that the base of the next case will fit snugly on top.

I don`t have a Spider Ham, so I`d keep it if I got  it, but it was a lame chase to do.
Although the rest of the figures are awesome, love the Cap and Hob Goblin!

Diamond should be getting these pretty soon, I`d say within a month. That is about how long it took once the Spidey & X-Men box sets hit overseas till Diamond got them.

Good work, just remember though, you have to open it. :P

BTW, if anyone stumbles across openers of Droids Fett or R2 and holo Leia, I'm definitely interested in them.  I'm hoping to save some money over the carded versions.  I gotta sell some stuff on ebay too, my paypal account is perilously low :-\

Congratulations Mikey!  Good to see you finally nabbed one.  Pretty decent price there too, especially with the super cheap shipping.  Haven't seen too many go that cheap lately, so you've done well...   8)

I'm still completely slacking on the VC Jawa and the Logray, so if anyone sees any "cheap" auctions on either of those, shoot me a PM (as opposed to publicly advertising it here  :-X)

Then, once it goes over my bidding amount, I'll go ahead and publicly advertise it!   :P

Congrats Mikey, nice price.  8)

You missed out on a VC Jawa (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=48972&item=5963197599&rd=1) awhile back Matt, $42. looked like a good price from what I have seen. Logray, well he's still around the $130. mark.  :-\

Thanks guys.

Definitely opening this one.  The only thing I don't have opened is my speederbike set, but that may change soon.

I hesitating last time with this set from the same seller (although I did get my TRU 5 pack from him) and as soon as I saw it for a good price, quickly logged in and bought it.  Didn't even read the auction, that's how trustworthy the seller is.  I've only seen two in the last couple of weeks, both around the $150 mark plus shipping.

I'm with you, Matt.  I still need VC Jawa and Logray.  Keeping my eyes open, but they aren't a huge priority.  I'd rather have the Logray (don't shoot me Brent) over the Jawa, just because he's a unique figure.  I'm not interested in the carded figures, but like Brent, wouldn't mind a Holo Leia to open if the price is right.

Still debating on what to do with series 4 - buy a case and hope for the best or see if I can find a full set with all the chases for a good price like Scott did for series 3.

 >:(

It's a good thing I like you, unlike Colman.  I get the unique aspect of the Logray, I'll even go so far to admit as to why it is easily the more generally desirable one because it is a unique figure.  But geez, did they have to make another freakin' Ewok? :o  They seem to understand the trilogy so well, why did they not recognize that aspect sucked so badly ;)

Ok, this douche bag just made my "Never buy from" list.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2476&item=5965679833&rd=1
****** picture, I want to see if the paint job is nice, as mine has a spot or two. I asked
if they could get a better picture. Here is his response:
"Hello
Why to see if it is the chase?
It is a kubrick boba fett.
Sorry it is only a $16.00 item.
If you wish to pay about $7.00 I can hire a kid to scan it and send the scan to you otherwise it really is not worth the time and trouble.
thanks for your interest in the item.
Dave "

Had he just replied that he couldn`t get another picture right away, that would have
been enough for me. But he had to be an ******* about it, so no sale, and I will
never buy one of his items. Maybe he was having a bad day, but why take it
out on me?!

Ok, venting over, sorry, I had to do it. (twice!)

He might have sold them and the buyers didn't pay. The photo's kind of look suspicious. They are different colours and one has his his ID on it and the other doesn't. Personally I would never buy for a seller who had photos like this as the images look stolen, suggesting that he doesn't actually have the product on hand.

thanks simon! after reading ur post, i got a bit worried..

after getting the package, i opened immediately and compared to my 'original' logray..

first, the baggie was different and i noticed it was was re-sealed.. the bag was very new and clear.. whiich is unlike medicom.. then i realised there was no box but that was already mentioned in the auction..

then i look at the weapon.. it was different from the original one.. this one,, the handle was slightly thicker than the normal one.. plus the 'feather' colors were different..

then.. i compared the colors.. this one was paint'brushed.. but i must say it looks exactly the same.. if i didnt read simon's post, i wouldnt have suspected anything.. would've jst open it up and displayed them..

i noticed he stil has one auction going on.. surprised he didnt take it off.. beware guys..

Sounds like he's made his own mold from an original figure, painted it himself, sealed it in his own bag and trying to pass it off as the real thing. The pics would be interesting to see. If you think the item is a fake, you should report it to eBay and PayPal ASAP.

u wont notice unless u see it..

the white cap on the head is paint brushed.. the color is differnt from the original one.. and its still rough.. and the kubrick is slightly larger than the normal one.. i guess because it was mould from the original piece..

the colors of the feather on the weapon are different.. hard to tell from the pics but if i can point out to u the differences face to face, u'll be convinced..

i dun think a casual collector will know.. its quite well done.. u wont know unless u're very experienced..

If thats a cast, it's very good one. It has all the seams in the right spots and the painting are in there right spots too, even the copyright is bang on. No extra flange that I can see that would come from a copy.

Well,

I'll fire off an e-mail to REAL and get a quote on how much making new stands would be

Anyone know if the pegs holes smaller/larger than Vintage and Modern figures

Vintage -----> Kubrick -------> Modern
Kubrick ------> Vintage ------> Modern
Vintage ------> Modern ------> Kubrick

I would think we could easily get a preorder of 500 together with us and Kubrickworld.

I tried to put a Kuby on one of my vinty stands and the foot peg is larger, as for the modern stand the foot peg is too small. Looks like the Kubricks foot holes are in between the vinty and modern.

Also, keep an eye out on the Bounty Hunter 400% Boba Fett. The scheduled release is for April 29th, so they should be hitting eBay soon.  :-\

I really want this, but i just dont see myself ever getting it. For some reason knowing it costs 60.00 I cant see myself spending alot on it. For some reason i dont mind spending 100.00 on a single figure, but no more than a 100.00 on this. I guess i won't be getting it :-[

Oh geez...what did I get myself into?

My local comic shop had a box of the series 4 Marvel Kubricks for sale.  Some of them had already been opened, and were labeled with what character it was, and some were unopened.  I was at first just going to get the Hobgoblin, but looked at all the others, and just decided to go for it.

So I bought 5 of the 7 (Mr Fantastic, Capt America, Scarlet Spider, Havok & Hobgoblin), the ones that had been opened, and I bought 2 unopened!  1 of the unopened turned out to be Morph, but the other turned out to be Capt. America.  The shop employee was cool, and let me return the Capt A for another shot at a Wolvie, but instead I got a Scarlet Spider.   :(

Still, I got 6 out of the 7, all for $5 a pop, no shipping.  Pretty sweet!  But oh man, I think I have created another monster...

2 Morph
2 Mr. Fantastic
3 Wolverine
3 Hobgoblin
4 Havok
4 Captain America
6 Scarlet Spider

I believe Venom-Ham is 1:96 boxes meaning 1 in 4 cases of 24.

I had a dream last night about SW Series 4...

In my dream the chases were:

Lobot (in the Bespin Luke box) - 3/48
Capt/Adm Piett (in the Vader Box) - 1/96
Imperial Dignitary (in the Emperor box) - 1/96

In my dream, they kicked ass!  Guess I'm starting to get ansy for Series 4 in a few weeks!

Of course, I am not known to predict the future, so take it with a grain of salt for now.  If it turns out to be right, I'll start up my own Psychic hot-line or something...  :P

In short because they are Asian exclusives and North Americans and Europeans pay a premium for them.  Its no different than Hasbro product being more in Australia or Europe.

The other factor is that the demand I think a bit outweighs demand, especially for Star Wars Kubricks

I would think that the stormie will be the same ratio as the sandtrooper was.  These guys seem to have a really good handle on how to pack things and what should be in cases.  From a traditional, OT standpoint they've pretty much rocked all along.  For them to make the error of one per case would be a pretty darn big surprise.  People would be nuts.

Have to admit, seeing these I'm really tempted to order a box :-X

Just read that over there Matt, if it does land up being a July release then I won't see these till August.   :'(

Just have to wait and see.   :-\

It does suck!  >:(
I figured with them being shown recently, they were just about done with them.
I was hoping to have them shipped with RAH Vader to save on some shipping too.
Oh well, as long as I get them at some point, I guess I can wait some more.

Ever get an itch you just have to scratch?  I did (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5979731551&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1)

I really wanted that piece and it saves me from the moral dilemma of having to open it and then having a useless card around.

Due apologies if that was you with the first bid Adam, but two other guys beat you out as well, so I don't feel quite as guilty :-[

Nice one Brent.  Is that your first carded opener so far?  I've only gotten one opener myself (the Droids R2), so I'm woefully behind on those.  But I sure as **** ain't opening any of my carded ones though!  ;)

I don't mind the delay on Series 4 personally, since I still haven't grabbed the chases from last time.  So it gives me a little more time to catch up, not to mention the whole initial ROTS run of regular figures has tapped my collecting budget a bit too.  So I'm fine with a little more recovery time here...

I still haven't opened my R2 yet...I haven't been looking real hard for a Fett but I will get one eventually.

As far as the delay...not a huge deal but as others have said, more time to save :P

I've been watching the carded auctions every once in a while looking for a "bargain".

I don't have any yet, but eventually I'd like a carded set and a loose set for the "new" ones - Holo Leia, Droids R2, Droids Fett.  I can pass on an opener Luke, Fett, and Sandy since those are so close to the regular figures.

As for the Series 4 delay -  :(

Patience I guess...

Nice one Brent.  8)

The only carded loose ones I have thus far is Luke blonde hair and Holo Leia.

If I can wait for my 400% Boba to arrive, I can wait a bit longer for series 4.  :)

Yup, that's the first.  I still want the R2 >:( but haven't found something at a suitable price.  I was watching This Luke carded (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5979760639&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1) but his price just doubled in the last couple of minutes and there's still an hour to go ::)  I think I can live without the Luke anyway.

My want list for now is like this:
Droids R2 - loose or opener
Leia holo - loose or opener
Boba Fett series 1 chase (both)
Rebo Band
Series 4 complete.

So lots left to find anyway.  But I'm happy with that Droids Boba for that price, a couple have gone for more on the card, as would be expected, so finding that loose for half the price is cool:

Droids Boba 1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=751&item=5980194945&rd=1)

Droids Boba 2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2476&item=5980122639&rd=1)

Although my reply is a little late on this, that next series really looks spiffy.  Like I've said before, I really need to stay away from this thread.  Every time I come in here and read everyone's comments, and see your collections, it just gets so tempting to jump into this.  And, the longer I wait, the further behind I am.  Maybe with the ROTS stuff slowing down a bit, I can try to figure out a way to afford some of this stuff.  I'd likely have to start with the more common stuff and stay away from the "big money" sets/figures for now, but I'd really like to find out a way to do it.  It would be easier if I was already caught up on vintage figures and didn't have to try to split any extra collecting bucks both ways ;).  Either that, or I should give up another line to free up some extra money.  I don't know what it is about these, but the Kubrick line just seems so cool.  I guess the OT focus, and the amount of figures put out in a year reminds me of the vintage days for some reason.  Good stuff, I'm quite envious of everyone's collections on here.  Very nice.

Yep, that's my exact plan too.  I'll roll with the carded ones for starters, and hope to get lucky on a crappy opener of a couple more of those eventually.

But Jeff, what about the boxed stuff (Max Rebo band, Speederbike, TRU 5-pack)?  You trying to go with both of those too?  I'd like too, and again, I'm starting with just the boxed ones at this point.  I haven't opened them yet, but I think I may soon, since I think it's just a piece of tape on there, and I can "re-package" them if I want to enjoy them in their original packaged state again as well.  But ideally, I'd like to have them displayed both ways together.  $Painful$

I thought about both boxed and loose, but like you said it's pretty easy to repackage them if you want, so I opened all my boxed stuff (EB, Speederbike, TRU, Rebo).

I have all the packaging saved in case I ever want to re-box them and display them that way (when I run out of room in my cases perhaps), but for now they are all loose.   ;)

Jeff

ps.

Is anyone out there truly "hardcore" about completism in this line?

What I mean is, is there anyone that does have all the Series 1, 2, and 3 figures both loose and boxed?  After all, it'd be really tricky to have a "MIMB" chase figure, but with an x-ray machine or by pulling them from a master case it would be do-able I guess.   :P

Nope, not going for all carded, boxed and loose. That would cost a fortune me thinks.  :-\

We talked about the x-ray machine thingy back in series 1, I think we tossed that right out the window.

My updated collection.  As you can see, I have just enough room for series 4 (no chases) once I move Kermit.  Time to go buy more JL cases.

Been reading over at Kubrickworld the reason for the delay on series 4 is that the ROTS movie is being released in July in Japan. Looks like there the last to get the flick, July 9th.

A few more weeks gang.  :)

Lets see, 500 were only available at the Winter Wonder Festival. The other 1505 will be sold online through the Medicom Collectors Club from February 20-21st.

I'm not sure if the remaining 1505 have been released thus far, almost 4 months after the online order they should be out by now.  :-\

I want both! But yeah, Jabba first if they are doing them.
And a Landspeeder set like the Speederbike set. It would be all re-done figures
though, so maybe just a Landspeeder?

When doing the Box Set report I thought of the following

#1 Jabba the Hutt w/ Salacious Crumb, Slave Leia and Bib Fortuna
#2 Cantina Set w/ Hammerhead, Walrusman, Red and Blue Snaggletooth
#3 Tauntaun, Wampa and Luke (Hoth)

Other stuff would sort of be out of the realm of the vintage line I'd say and since most of the line is sort of a vintage homage, I just don't see other stuff (outside of weird 5 packs or something) happening
