Hasbro said there will be new figures to replace the Force Unleashed figures. Any ideas?
My hopes would be a TPM wave which seemed to be ignored this year.
Qui-Gon Jinn- New, SA
Obi-Wan Kenobi- New, SA
Mawhonic & Folded Pit Droid- New, SA
Darth Maul- Evo re-hash w/ Ball-Joint Arms & New Head, Cloth Cloak
Jar Jar Binks- New, SA
Pilot Battle Droid- POTJ re-paint
Royal Gaurd- ROTS re-hash, New Head
-
I'll be shocked if there are any new sculpts in this wave if it even happens.
-
TPM? TPM you say? well here comes those red naboo soldiers to take over the yellow ones.
-
You never know with this year, its sure had its good surprises. Perhaps we could get:
A New, SA Naboo Soldier of some kind(not a boring one, a resculpt of a previous one)
Royal Guard (ROTS w/new head)
Elan Mak and Boles Roor (two-Pack)
Mawhonic w/Tan Pit Droid (two-Pack)
Jira w/cool accessory like a piece of her fruit stand
Sei Taria (aide)
Horrox Ryyder (Anx Senator)
Tendau Bendon (i think thats the Ithorian senator)
Sei Taria would be the most super cool of that list. Please, please, please, Hasbro, with a cherry on top!

Um, didn't they just say "the place in the calendar previously marked for the TFU figures will be occupied by wave 8 of the basic figures".
Doesn't sound like they are planning a replacement wave, just moving things around...
-
That's exactly what I took from that as well, even though the statement is somewhat "circular"...
the place in the calendar previously marked for the TFU figures will be occupied by wave 8 of the basic figures which had been pushed out to make room for the TFU wave (wave 9). So there won't be any gaps in the delivery of news figures to the shelves late this Fall.
It certainly begs the question of just how long will the Force Unleashed wave be delayed? The game is rumored to have been pushed back to April, 2008. So will the wave for TFU be pushed back just as much as the video game release? And can we see something from the 2008 line slid up in the schedule as well, to replace the figures for TFU?
-
I think these figures are just going to be pushed back until the game comes out and following waves will be moved up one. Perhaps wave 1 of 2008 will make it into 2007. ;D

Yep, that's how I read it.
-
They're leaving out a convenient fact, while they've moving wave eight forward to fill the gap, so that there's no gap in the current schedule, that still leaves a gap at the end of the year where wave 8 had previously been slated. Not that I think we'll get replacement 30AC figures mind you, as they won't want to mess up the coin folder...
So now the follow-on questions become - will the FU figures remain in 30AC packaging and those coins stay in the 60 list for this year's line (although released for the VG in 2008), or will something be moved into that slot?
Perhaps the easiest thing will be for them to start the 2008 line sooner, in November/December and then release the FU figures on their 30AC collection card backs with the coins in 2008.
In any case, I suspect this re-work has created some logistical nightmares for Hasbro - now a 2007 product will have to be on the shelves when the 2008 line will be out - so Hasbro will have to either get stores to support two lines of figures at that time, or change the barcoding on those figures to mesh in with the 2008 line.
Will be very interesting to see how this all unravels...

-
The easiest route for them would be a wave of repaints, if they had to fill the gap - doesnt' sound like they intend to (I'm sure they'll want to surprise us at CC).
-
I'd be willing to bet that Hasbro wasn't far enough along on the coins (particularly the numbering present on said coins) to cause any real problems in that regard. After all, they said in this week's Q&A that they didn't even have the final names for several of the characters (the Samurai Jedi and the two Stormtrooper guys), so they'd still have been waiting to put the names on the coins, much less the numbers. If coins were still in the planning stages, I'd assume the packaging and actual figure numbers were as well, so the "worst" thing is that Hasbro will have to come up with 7 other coins to fill out that 60 number. Or, they might go ahead and make the 7 Vintage mail-away coins numbers 54-60 instead of "chase" coins. Who knows?

Read Evenflow's post. I think it would be dinky to get only 8 waves. Maybe there could be a re-paint/re-hash wave instead:
Pilot Battle Droid- POTJ re-paint
Red ARC Trooper- Comic Pack re-paint
Sasee Tinn's Droid & Plo Koon's Droid 2-Pack- R4-G9 re-paints
U-3PO- Ewok Diety 3PO Body, Legs & Head, New Arms
Shadow Stormtrooper- TSC re-pack
Admiral Piett- DS Trooper Legs, Arms/ Moff Jerjerrod Torso/ New Head & Cloth Skirt
-
You could add a gray DS Trooper/Death Squad Commander to that list. :)
-
Didn't they say in a Q&A or somewhere that they'd be reducing the total # of figs produced this year? If they just don't ship as often, they wouldn't have a gap to fill, just a little longer between each wave and get the Fprce Unleashed wave back out there when the game is finally released.

Less figures = :) wallet.

That was for the VOTC style figures not the regular waves. Hasbro will do another replacement wave either moving up a later one or like the previous 2 years which is probally the case do Repaints. There are so many great repaints for them to do some of which have been mentioned alreay:
OTC Spirit Obi wan in Flesh colors
VOTC Boba Fett in ESB colors
Lava Battle Burn Pilot Obi vs Evo anakin
Sae see's and Kit's R2 droids
Red Naboo soldier
IG-88 in White ESB colors
ICMG (My custom is quite easy to remake)

I say they should make a replacement wave of nothing but repacks. I'll go with 12 figures, sort of a "Greatest Repacks" wave to help out people who missed on some harder to find figures and mix in some desirable army builders...
- SAGA Ephant Mon x 1
- VSTC Biker Scout x 1
- VOTC Stormtrooper x 1
- Evolutions ROTS Anakin x 1
- SAGA Coleman Trebor x 1
- Evolutions AOTC white Clone x 1
- VOTC Boba Fett x 1
- Early Bird Chewbacca x 1
- Evolutions Palpatine x 1
- VOTC ANH Princess Leia x 1
- POTC Pablo Jill x 1
- ROTS Battle Droid 2-pk x 1
:P
-
VOTC Fett is already being re-packed in the Saga Legends line. :P

So what. :)

ESB Style!

ESB Style!
That would be very nice!

Aren't they already doing that? Isn't Saga Legends essentially a "greatest repacks" assortment full of harder to find figures and desirable army builders? :P
If they did have to do a "replacement wave", I'd much prefer repaints like JACKOFTRADZE mentioned over more straight repacks.
-
I'd go for Jack's list too, some great ideas there.
I just don't really like Hasbro's Greatest Hits assortments though... most are usually pretty lame. I know they ran the "poll" at RS about what people would like to see... but some of those I think are just ridiculous and were NOT hard to find... there are a few that I do like of course, like the Battle Droids and Sandtrooper.
Bousch Leia? That Vader again? That ridiculous Anakin? That same Grievous? That Maul instead of the Evolutions one? That 3PO again???
I can see wanting to refresh figures... but I'd rather see better versions... I mean the Chewbacca? Why not the Early Bird version?
:P
-
>:( If they do make a Qui-Gon make him right-SA with no funky hair-The Jedi training gear had the best head sculpt of Qui-Gon in fact an SA of that would really rock! ;D
-
I think he'd be a great candidate for an Evolutions set...
Jedi Masters
- Master Dooku (Jedi gear)
- TPM SA Qui Gon Jinn (new sculpt)
- ANH SA Obi Wan (new sculpt)
Might be kind of cool since all three are relevant to each other.
:P
-

Except ICMG, Hasbro has delayed for too long. I don't want a simple re-hash I want an all new SA sculpt.
The first two waves are crappy, excluding Fett, all clones, Battle Droids & sand trooper. The last wave is the fan's choice wave.
-
maybe we'll get to vote for more repacks, atleast this time i hope its more like the 06 elections than the 2000 race.
-
Rebelscum's mentioned a new wave of figures to fill in for the Force Unleashed wave being dumped to '08 due to the game's delay. What's the verdict on these?
-Holographic Vader... They're saying it'll use Dagobah Vader, which isn't bad... Good sculpt, decent height and all. He can't really do the hands on his hip dealie he does when he's talking to people via holograph (Off hand only his chat with Veers comes to mind?). Still it's another cheap holographic figure, which people dig briefly.
-Naboo Dude (Red)... Oh I can hear the complaints already on this one. :) Still, you gotta admit the figure's not horrid. It's accurate, fairly poseable (not great)... I'm ok with this but again I could have lived without it, and if this guy gets a figure I think ICMG must be made.
-Rodian Mechanics... I'm not even gonna bother looking into their names. I'm already a little irked that I really doubt they're accurate (wrong boots) and the vest isn't gonna be quite right. I'm assuming here obviously, but a straight VTSC Greedo repaint ain't "accurate". There's a neatness to this one though, if for no other reason than diversity, but I'd just as happily taken the Rodian with a Hoth vest from Jabba's Palace over these.
-Rebel Vanguard... The figure it's being based on, TSC Endor Rebel, isn't very good so this figure is going to suffer. Weaponry will be the main interesting factor on this one.
-Clone w/Poncho... Now this kicks ass. Best figure of the wave as a LOT of people dug those clones with the muddy deco and poncho's from the CW toons. I'm anxious to see this.
-Brown Dot ROTS Clone... Meh, I'll get a handful but it's like the 5th Fleet figure... boring paint job. I wish they'd include some cool accessories like boxes and a heavy cannon or something. Mix it up a little for once. :(
-
Rodian mechanics = Pax & Trax Bonkik (http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/paxbonkik/index.html), named by fan "javajawas" thru the What's The Story thingie on Hyperspace.
I have always liked these guys for some reason--but I, too, think Hasbro'll just throw different paint on some old Greedo and call it a day. :(
The poncho clone sounds the best of the bunch by far, but none of them should suck except the Brown Dot Clone.
-
These are for real?
I don't know what to think other than it's not a very exciting wave.
-
Not too exciting. Will the rodians be a 2-pack? I guess the Clone trooper is the most exciting of the bunch.
-
I think the Rodian is just one figure and, if you want twins, you buy two. Like the Cantina Musician...
-
Wow, aside from the Holo Vader and poncho Clone, that is by far the worst wave of figures I've ever seen.
-
Are you ******** me??!
1 cool figure? ::)
this sucks ass
DS
-
I'm a little disappointed its just a "repaints" wave, I guess for some reason I was hoping they might shift forward some other wave that was scheduled for early 2008 - but maybe this is what was planned for the end of the year "repaint-o-rama" we've gotten the last couple of years. Overall, kind of a boring wave to me as well. I'll pick up the Holo Vader, R2-B1, and the Clone w/poncho is cool too, but beyond that I don't know. I might pick up the repainted Rodians, just for some "new" alien variety - but I'm not sure beyond that. Of course, they'll probably have individual coins, so that might make passing on them more difficult if I have a complete set up to that point - we'll see.
-
Well, here's some info on a filler wave (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/New_Action_Figure_Wave_Revealed_105621.asp)
gotta love that red jumpsuit ::)
-
What. Ever. The first two figs, okay, poncho Clone Trooper, okay, the rest: didn't Hasbro joke about doing an all pegwarmer wave at Comic-Con once?
-
Endboo2?
Ok, not too excited. Were the pegs at my TRUs not a sea of mustard yellow, I might be more interested in a different Nabooian. As it is, this really doesn't bode well and I'm hoping this doesn't make it to Canada, lest they sour retailers even more.
At least they threw in a couple of clones and a droid, so those will move. Gummi-Vader should too. Rodians? Well, cheap for Hasbro I suppose.
-
Wow, this wave is taking a beating. I actually don't think this list is too bad, especially considering that Hasbro had to do some fast tinkering to replace the force unleashed stuff. We get a holo vader - that was bound to happen eventually with all the other holo figs. Lots of troop builders - good guys and bad guys, couple of background aliens...what's not to like? I'm underwhelmed by yet another clonetrooper repaint, but otherwise this is an okay wave IMO. Admit it - this is ten times better than yet another Han, Luke, Leia, Chewie, Vader, Threepio, and R2 in the same duds we already have 20 versions of.
-
I guess we all should have known that any "last-minute" fill in wave would be all repaints, so no surprise there.
I like the idea of upgrading R2-B1 (much like the Red Royal Starship Droid update) and I also like the Animated CW Clone too.
As far as the others... meh. A Greedo repaint? Really? ???
-
Red Naboo Flight Crew??
Red Naboo Flight Crew??
Red Naboo Flight Crew??
YES!!!!!!!!!11111111!!!!!111111
-
I like the idea of upgrading R2-B1 (much like the Red Royal Starship Droid update) and I also like the Animated CW Clone too.
Ditto. But will they include the charging station? I thought that was one of the cooler accessories to come with an astro droid.
As for the Clone in the poncho? I hope they don't just recycle the Luke or Qui-Gon ponchos for this one.
-
Okay, it has to be said before we go on with the thread (and use your Comic Book Guy voice, everybody!):
WORST.
WAVE.
EVER.
Seriously, it's the 30th Anniversary year and THIS is what Hasbro comes up with? I mean, Holographic Vader and R2-B1 aside, none of those figures (even the Clones) really stand out as adequate "replacement" figures to me. Why not repaint the Tin Sandtrooper with an orange pauldron and some dirt, or the previously suggested DST in gray, or the day-glo Han and Luke Stormtroopers in movie deco? Does anyone (other than the obvious, of course) think that a red Naboo Soldier and a slightly repainted Greedo are going to get folks excited?
Oh well, the good news is that it will be the last wave of 30AC figures, meaning I won't be too torn up about not finding them on pegs for months on end. :)
-
I guess we all should have known that any "last-minute" fill in wave would be all repaints, so no surprise there.
Yeah there's no shocker there to me really... The red Naboo guy I'm not overly shocked about either, I kind of figured when they used a pic that included him on the packaging that he'd get done, just a matter of time. Fortunately for me he's not a pegwarmer here much (I stress much, he's easy enough to find if you want).
The Rodians and Gummi Vader I think will warm the most... Naboo guy next. I think the others have moving potential though, honestly. I'm kind of psyched for the AOTC Clone too, and I don't mind the ROTS repaint... Just not as cool as some of the other repaints. It's on level with the 5th Fleet repaint, which is the most dull IMO.
Droid's good, especially if you have the original and wanted an update... It's boring as a whole wave but I think there's a couple gems there for people.
-
I LOVE this wave!!! ;D
Holo Vader, finally, R2-B1, not only a repack but a R4-G9 REPAINT, and poncho clone, this is AWESOME!!! Rebel vanguard also looks promising, I love Battlefront!!! It will definitely tide me over until the FU waves. 8) ;D 8)
I hope the coins will work with the album, if not thatll be retarded. :-\
-
I agree that this is not the most exciting wave However:
R2-B1 seems to be something people have been wanting to get for awhile now.
Hologram Vader - Another one people have wanted for awhile now.
Clone w/ Poncho - You know that will go over pretty well.
Clonetrooper - Brown Dot - Eh, not great but it's a different clonetrooper and will probably do as well at the other SAGA repainted clonetroopers.
Red Naboo Guard - Kind of an ok compliment for the yellow one which did not pegwarm nearly as badly as I thought it would. To be honest red would probably go over a bit better.
Rodian - It will probably do okay. I have zero desire for this one but apparently others do.
-
A wave like this really drives home to me how much the hobby has changed for me since the mid-to-late 90's. Back then, every figure was new and exclusively from the OT, so I bought everything. Now, I must get fewer than half of Hasbro-produced figures since so many are PT (especially ROTS)- themed, or repaints of said waves. And I thought the 30th Anniversary would be all OT!
-
ill get the vanguard and the clones..possibly the droid aswell BUT what am i talking about i wont see this wave...last waves never hit Canada.
-
ill get the vanguard and the clones..possibly the droid aswell BUT what am i talking about i wont see this wave...last waves never hit Canada.
Is this supposed to be the last wave of TAC figs?
-
I like background stuff, but these are just ho-hum...
What about a Gray suited DST?
What about another R5 repaint?
What about a silver version of thrnoe 3P0 as E-3PO from Bespin?
I can think of much cooler, MOVIE ACCURATE, repaints than these...
In a way, I feel bad for Hasbro about this wave. Here they are trying to get the EU ball rolling by producing a line of figures to go along with a game, and when the game is delayed, they are forced to put out rushed, low interest product.
-

well it is the last one listed on RS and they have about 60 on that list so im guessing it is.

I kind of like this idea as well - aside from the thought that if this is the last wave they would be tough to find. There are a few figures in this wave that I'll pick up (Holo Vader, R2-B1, and the poncho Clone), but it does seem like some OT repaints would have been pretty cool - and welcome. I really like the ones you listed there - Sandtrooper w/orange pauldron, Gray DST, and accurately painted Luke and Han Stormtroopers from the comic packs. I think we could probably come up with a wave of 6 or 7 OT based figures that would be simple repaints that everyone would be pretty excited about.
-
What about a Gray suited DST?

What about a silver version of thrnoe 3P0 as E-3PO from Bespin?
Now that's a repaint wave.
-
Forget these lame repaints, how about a McQuarrie only wave at the end? It'd be a great way to help out the collectors who missed every single one in the beginning... :-\
-

+1... include a regular carded R2/3PO 2 pack and that would work for me. What is rumored is "bleh" to me. I would pass. At least a McQuarrie wave would allow those who missed them (or want more) a chance.
-
It's not really worth complaining about if you ask me. The video game delay screwed up their production schedule. Since it takes over a year to get a figure from the drawing board to the shelves, there was virtually no chance of new figures or pushing forward 2008 figures. So they're doing the best they can and trying to come up with some semi-clever repaint/repack items to keep product flowing.
Not the greatest thing ever, but not the end of the world at all.
-
O.K. time me here....
R5-*# - Any R5 Unit Repaint - At least EIGHT Astromech repaints are still out there
RA-7 - Black or Silver - proper repaint
U3P0 or E3P0 - Silver or Pewter repaint
Random Rebel Pilot - head swap and random helmet markings (not even new toolings for specific known pilots)
Ten Nunb - proper Red Flight Suit on the Sullustian pilot
So there's 14 possibilities that I just came up with in about 30 seconds.
While there are a couple of good choices on this list - particularly holo vader (so long as he's neutrally posed) - the rest are pretty lame
I suspect this reflects the "thrown together" nature of the wave, and that they had to come up with something quickly to fill in the gap left by FU...
'78
-
We should see this wave in early 2009 at the rate TAC is hitting shelves.
Overall this is a good repaints wave sans the Rodian and Orange Soda Pop Clone. I hope the have boots for thast greedo repaint how are they going to get around those slippers. The overall deco is too close to Greedo.
The rebal Vanguard sounds like a great refresh and the poncho clonbe is very welcome. R2-B1 and the Redl Naboo work for me as well. Holo Vader...zzzzzzz
-
Add to that...
-AT-ST Driver... Imp. Officer w/different head (Tantive IV Rebel?) & Han AT-ST Helmet...
-Imp. Technician... Imp. Officer decoed grey w/black hat.
And if they wanted to make them more articulated, the POTF2 TIE Pilot pack-in with bendable knees has legs that fit the Imp. Officer body perfectly. It's automatically a better figure. Though I think maybe the DSG legs might work too now.
-
I love the imperial refresh, superb idea! Lets lose the clone, vader and Rodian. That Rodian is going to warm pegs really bad. You can still find VOTC Greedo for $2 and people still passed. thats the kind of crap that boggles the mind in this obscure choice. This would have made a great refresh plus they are already using the tool. Naboo Soldier body with Black Rebel Endor head = ICMG!:
-
Darth Vader- It was bound to happen. I'll pick one up.
R2-B1- YAY! Second best figure of the wave, should of been a 2-pack though.
Brown Spot Clone- I bought into the 5th Security Clone & 442nd Clone because they were cool & had EU backstory, but this is just pitiful...PASS! Or if it's on sale for the coin.
Naboo Trooper- PASS! Or if it's on sale for the coin.
Rebel Vangaurd- Oooh...Cool. I'll pick up a couple!
Cloak Clone Trooper- Nice! I'll pick up around 10-15.
Pax Bonkik- New background citizens are very welcome in my collection!
-
I'll pick up a few of the Poncho Clones and the R2-B1. I guess I'll get the Rebel and the Rodians if they look good enough. But the rest can...
[Cartman]... get the fudge out![/Cartman]
-
Looks like there's a pretty good mix of what people do and don't want from this wave, which I think is a pretty good indicator of a good wave. Again, kudos to Hasbro on piecing together a decent assortment with little planning.
-
I agree with that assessment Jman... There's a mix of people who love it and don't really love it, but it seems everyone's into SOMETHING out of the assortment... The poncho Clone seems to have the most love though, which is funny since he's EU, technically.
-
Again, kudos to Hasbro on piecing together a decent assortment with little planning.
One does have to give kudos for that. I might complain, but it is a challenge for Hasbro to meet these demands.
-
Lets be happy there IS a replacement. As usual the majority of people will cave anyway and buy them. We bitch because we constantly want more and cannot feed our SW appetites!
-
Darth Vader- Neat, but will pass.
R2-B1 (Naboo Droid)- Will get, more TPM figures are always welcome. Hope it comes with the starship restrainer thingy.
Brown Spot Clone- PASS. In terms of Phase 2 Clones, I've had enough.
Naboo Trooper- YES! Great figure first time around, great figure second time around. Will probably get, and if it comes with some extra stuff (Crates, etc), will be a must buy.
EU Rebel Vanguard- Pretty cool, nice to see more EU troopers. Might get. Hope it comes with a new game-accurate missile launcher.
EU Muddy Clone Trooper (Cloak)- Might get, Phase 1 Clones are always welcome. Hope the poncho is SG and new.
Pax Bonkik- More obscure TPM Aliens, yay! might get.
-
Pax Bonkik- More obscure TPM Aliens, yay! might get.
Ya know, you have a point. It is very encouraging to see more TPM aliens. They are very cool, Ive been wanting more forever, esp. senators and podracers. If they can do Pax Bonkik, then they can do Sebulba's TwiLek masuesses, Mot Not Rab, Sei Taria (shes actually overdue), Passel argente, Elan Mak, and Boles Roor. I cant wait to see a whole wave of stuff like this. 8)
-
The early C-IV pics seem to indicate that the Rebel Vanguard really is just a straight repaint of the black Saga06 Endor Trooper mold with the RFT Helmet and Vest slapped on him.
Ick... no improvement there. I was hoping we'd get some new weapons at least, but it doesn't look like it. :-\
I'm still digging R2-B1 though. I'd love those little droids, especially with that sculpt. :)
-
i was hoping we would get a rocket launcher with the rebel but owell. the AOTC clone looks awsome. same with the droid.
-
I'll get the TPM droid and the EU Rebel Vanguard... Stinks it doesn't include the launcher.
-
I'm still pumped about the muddy poncho Clones from Clone Wars, and R2-B1's neat... But boy the others are really just a bunch of schlubs when you look 'em over. Repaint waves aren't easy to get ramped up for anyway but these seem really meh to me. Probably one of the only semi-disappointments of the day...
I'm kind of hopeful though that these were so hurredly slapped together that we are gonna get a nifty rocket launcher for the vanguard, however I'm not holding my breath that they "just didn't have time to bring it", ya know?
I'm geeked for SA muddy clones though.
-
Yeah, I'm psyched for the Clone w/poncho and R2-B1 as well. I'll also pick up the Holo Vader, but I'm undecided on the rest of the wave. If I'm complete up until that point, and these have character specific coins as well, I might end up picking the rest up too. We'll see. Like you Jesse, I'm not real excited for the wave otherwise. If its the "last wave", I'm glad this would be the tougher to find ones than the previous waves. That said, I think the "release date" for this wave was actually a month earlier than Wave 7's, according to the placecards - if those mean anything at all. Who knows.
-
For some reason, I thought the Naboo soldier would only have a red hat varient, not the whole outfit.
Wonder what's underneith the cloak on the clone. SA?
-
I still think that scuba trooper looks silly. But of course I'll buy two of them. :-\
-
It's alright I guess. The Naboo soldier I just don't understand, the Orange one sucked and 6 months later can still find on the shelf at the rate they've sold you'll probably see the 2 of them together on the shelf ;D Rodian is OK will buy for customs. R2-definate, love the Astro OCD in me :P I'm getting kinda cloned out but with all the OT love I might be looking forward to these by the time they roll out. PASS on the rebel like the idea but the execution uh uh. The Vader uh uh as well they should've used a neutral pose like the one that came in the Tat battle pack, unless that is a gust of wind was blowing while Vader was on the Holopad ::)

Could this be from the evolutions set? Except for the 30AC Tin set, blue version, they really haven't used that mold. Since I wasn't there can anybody that was remember if the helmet looked "rubbery?"
-
Could this be from the evolutions set?
According to the info from Hasbro at Celebration IV, that Clone Wars poncho clone is supposed to be a repaint using the Clone Wars 03-50 figure (the one in the Saga Legends line right now).

DAMN!!! >:(
-
The ROTS era Clone Trooper does appear to be the Evolutions Clone Trooper from Episode III.
-
It does look like that to me too Nicklab. I love that figure except for the size of the helmet. I don't like the contrast in comparison to the non-removable helmets on ROTS clones. for AOTC clones, it doesn't bother me as much or at all for that matter.
Is it me or does the ponch clone's visor look huge? I'll probably have to get one of these to open before I decide it I want multiples or not.
:P
-

:P
Even though Im all for accuracy, the helmet makes it look a little more Clone Wars cartoon-ish, but still not too bad. Ill probably pick up a few.
-
Where's the Rebel Vanguard's cannon? >:(
-
Back where he dropped it...
Actually I THINK I recall them saying he wouldn't come with it. Sucks, but I remember someone asking that to them at some point, and Hasbro giving the impression there was nothing new tooled for that figure at all. Just all existing parts.
-
Visor does look a little big, probably just not painted to the "perfection" of the mass production we see in stores. :P Yeah that does look like the ROTS evo on brown spot clone. Looking at the R2-B1 isn't that the VOTC R2 sculpt? Usually I can tell by the front panel, but maybe it's because of the color blue they use it's hard to tell, but the dome looks like it has that sensor scope thing.
-

WTF!!!??? Wow, it just went from a pretty exciting Battlefront figure to a definite PASS. Too bad. :P
-
I don't see why they couldn't packed in the missile launcher from the EU Battlefront Clone Trooper pack in with the Vanguard. I still get it anyways, but it would have been nice to get the launcher.
-
I really hope that the rumor about no missile launcher for the Vanguard is not true. I think Hasbro is capable of tooling up some new accessories for the figures in this wave, but if they can't, then the least they can do is include the rifle from the Saga Endor Rebel Soldier or T-21 Blaster from the Evolutions Sandtrooper. I would hate to have the two Vanguards that I plan to buy wield pistols in combat.
-
Keep in mind, and I'm the last guy to say Hasbro didn't **** up usually either, but just remember that these were pretty hastilly slapped together (the wave that is) to cover their tracks on the bumping of the Force Unleashed wave, which is now part of 2008's line-up.
I can sorta cut them some slack there, but I mean they have to have had a GI Joe weapon somewhere they could've used too I'd think, but with moving things around at factories and where you have production set for these and all... I can sort of just cut a little slack to them I guess, with the thought that these were really a rush-job of a wave to fill in a slot.
Personally, other than the Clone, I could've done without the wave entirely, and just seen them reship the harder to find figures in this wave's distribution slot instead. Lots of McFigures would've been appreciated at that time I think.
-
Personally, other than the Clone, I could've done without the wave entirely,
I could have done without the wave entirely. :-X
-
Muddy AOTC Clones though? Those are cool, but yeah I mean the wave in general was a good opportunity to play some catch up for the year. McQuarrie figures are still hard to find, army builders will inevitably sell through... And some are still hard to find in general (Stormtrooper, honor guard, airborne, etc.) for many people... But McQuarrie reshipments... Those would've gone over well. A whole wave of just the McFigures for the year reshipped? I'd have much preferred that, and probably ordered a case.
-
New picture...
Poncho Clone looks much better. Still wish the EU Vanguard had the launcher, but oh well.
Wave 8 includes 12 individually packaged Action Figures, including: 1x Holographic Darth Vader (#3048), 2x Clone Trooper (Red, #3049), 1x Clone Trooper (Poncho, #3050), 2x R2-B1 (#3051), 2x Naboo Soldier (#3052), 2x Pax Bonkik (#3054), 2x Rebel Vanguard Trooper (#3053.) (Subject to change.)
Case assortment seems pretty good, but what's with having boring non-movie E3 Clone repaints at 2 per case, while Poncho Clone is only 1 per case?
-
Thanks! I still think this wave looks great, better than that sad, sad Endor wave before it.

I knew that he had a removable helmet, yes! yes! yes!
-
Ah, yes! Very good to know that this is the Evolutions Clone Trooper (phase 1).
Oh, and BTW, Hasbro is calling this Wave 7.5, not Wave 8.
-
2x Naboo Soldier (#3052)
Um, pardon me for saying, but are they ******* nuts packing this figure in two per?
I'm sorry, but my TRU has had a mustard wall for what seems like a year (yeah, it's probably only 8 months, I know) and they won't be going anywhere soon. Is there some production quota for ****-ass figures? Really, I'm trying to be kind to Hasbro and for a make-shift lineup they did well, really. But one clone w/poncho versus two of this? How ******* stupid do you have to be?
Pardon my language, but come ******* on. Is there anyone who had a hard time finding the mustard trooper? >:(
It can't be a cost issue, they're all repaints or existing molds died in gummy-bear blue. Colman, ask for the official lame ass excuse on that case ratio.
-
I did some searching through Wookieepedia, and much to my consternation I couldn't find the unit name/number for the Phase II Clone Trooper in this wave. We've gotten a Clone from this unit before in the ROTS Clone Trooper 3-packs, but no ID on the unit.
-
Curto from RS (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=hasbro30th&Number=2551630&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=2) is reporting that the EU Rebel Vanguard WILL include the launcher, nice to hear that. Hopefully it's a newly tooled one.
-
(http://www.entertainmentearth.com/images//AUTOIMAGES/HS87500Hlg.jpg)
So I definitely want Pax Bonkik, and I'm somewhat irrationally excited for the Poncho Clone, probably just because he's from the animated series.
Cub Scout R2 is a maybe and so is Gummi Vader.
Pass on the Rebel and Naboo troopers. And definitely pass on the clone with the asymmetrical dookie-splats; I realize he came from ROTS concept art, but there's a reason he didn't make into the film. ::)
-
I have this case pre-ordered, its a mixed bag. I could have thought of some better replacements with existing tools for some of the slots. 2006 Rebel Troopers & Naboo soldiers are still warming pegs until this day.
Pax Bonkik is not very accurate but I kinda like him for a generic Rodian. Poncho Clone is great
R2-B1 is a very welcome update. Naboo is a lame figure but he fills and EP1 slot. Its funny how Phantom menace figures still suck after all this time.
I am out on the Gummi Vader, M&M Clone & Rebel Trooper.
I personally would have replaced those 3 slots with:
Grey Clone from Target pack with #41 body
Comic pack Arc Trooper in Red
Sora Bulk Darkside molded in Black robes & soft good cloak

Warming pegs at a store near you!
(I do like the Rodian & Clone.) I went to 3 Targets, 2 Wal-Marts and a TRU all had Rebel Troopers & Naboo trooper. Its sad.
-
(http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/4011/vanguardtrooperga5.jpg)
Looks like this is a test shot. No rocket launcher and no coin.
-
(http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/4391/hawkbatae3.jpg)
And I'd like to know what happened to this guys boots and leg armor... The picture above only had a mud spattering on white legs and boots. These grey boots and black legs look hideous.
-
But he does have the rifle, and not the blaster. A very positive development, IMO.
-
(http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/5648/paxci3.jpg)
Sooo, where's the cool accessory they went through the trouble of painting here? (The thing below the gun.)
EDIT: Oh, upon a closser look, it's a pod racer. :-[
-
(http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/4391/hawkbatae3.jpg)
What's up with his helmet? It looks like it's missing the black stripe above the visor. I hope this gets fixed.
As a Battlefront I fanatic, I think Rebel Vanguard looks very cool! But he will have to come with the missile launcher for me to buy him.
I really, REALLY like Pax Bonkik. I wish the boots could be accurate, but this is still a great repaint.
I think this 'ketchup' repaint of the pegwarming 'mustard' trooper will actually sell a lot better. The paint really makes a difference, at least it does for me. The card art of the character in action will also probably get a lot more kid or parent buyers rather than the Saga version that just had a picture of him standing there. I will buy at least five, seriously!
So where's M&M trooper, R2-B1, and gummi Vader?
-
This wave seems to be a little light in the accessories department. The troopers I can understand, but would have been nice to see Pak with something extra. Maybe some tools or a box of some sort. They even left off the holster that Greedo came with. I wonder if R2-B1 will have the charging unit that the E1 figure came with? I hope these are test shots of the figures and not final. There is much to be changed on them IMO. Over all they look good, just hope for more when I see them on selves.

This wave seems to be a little light in the accessories department.
This wave is the perfect example of why Hasbro needs to consider the "build-a-something" concept.
I know that I sure would be a lot more excited about the repaints in this wave if we were getting a "Build A L8-L9 (http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/l8l9/index.html)" or "Build A HK-47 (http://www.starwars.com/databank/droid/hk47/index.html)" piece with each of these repaint figures. :D
Of course, then everyone would bitch that they have to buy "all these figures that suck" to get all the parts... ;)
-
I would have liked Pax to include at least some accessories. A Pit Droid, pod racer banner/flag or even make it a Pax/Wald 2 pack.
-
The lack of accessories in this wave most likely stems from the fact that Hasbro lost money on all of the spectacular pack-ins we received druing the first part of the year!
;)
-
I thought the BF Vanguard was supposed to include his launcher? I'll get it nonetheless.
-
As others have pointed out, the RVT is also missing his coin.
It is most likely an early carded sample and as such, may not be the actual finished product.
-
To be honest, I'm not super excited about this wave necessarily either. I'm definitely looking forward to R2-B1 since I missed the TPM version, and the Clone with poncho and Holo Vader look nice, but aside from that I think I would pass on the rest of these. Sadly, I think I'll get the whole wave because I want the coins like a sucker. Its not that I hate the figures though, but if it was a year where they just had stands or something, I'd probably be more likely to pass - especially with the money crunch and all the stuff shipping right now.
-
I too will buy for the coins more than anything, but I gotta say I'm kind of liking the "breather" this wave is going to hopefully bring by not making me want to buy multiples of anything but the muddy clone wars Clone. Maybe two of the Rodian, but otherwise I'll be quite ready to NOT go ape**** buying extras of these, and maybe actually get somewhat of a break for 2007. It's been one of the toughest years collecting on me, without a doubt.
-

;)
I thought that too, but it's hard to stomack these at the price when we have been getting so many great figures this year. This wave is going to make the last wave that much harded to get, as you are going to see a dam up of these everywhere. I really hate when Hasbro offers repaints/repacks with nothing special. I hope I'm wrong on this as the last wave has many figures I'm looking forward too. I'll be getting at least one of each, as many others mainly for the coin, but I can see then on pegs until first quarter 2008.

Wow...pretty crappy stuff here except for the droid of course.
The Vanguard's "cannon" is huge - even for a Transformer.
-
ill take one of each for the coin. but ill also take one extra mud trooper and 1 extra rebel.
-
That rocket launcher is perfect for my wookie customs :D I'm actually relatively excited.
-
I actually think this is an excellent wave.
R2-B1: What a great surprise! A new sculpt of a hard to find figure that was pretty crappy in the first place, and it also comes with the power harness! This is the most exciting figure from this wave.
M&M Clone Trooper: It's not terrible, I just don't need it. Least exciting figure from this wave.
Gummi Vader- Okay, this one's good enough. The coin is really neat.
Rebel Vanguard: Now that we know he's got that awesome missile launcher, I will getting at least four, because I love Battlefront.
EDIT: Maybe now that we have the ketchup and mustard soldiers, the upcoming SA Qui-Gon, the red astromech droid from the tin set and now R2-B1, Hasbro will finally rerelease the Naboo Royal Starship that I never got! :D
Maybe... :-\
-
R2 comes with the droid harness! ;D Buying LOTS for my other Naboo droids.
-
What body is that 7th legion Clone? It isn't the 41 style. It looks like a Quick draw to some degree.
R2-B1 is cool and I'm glad there it the power harness. Also glad to see the cannon for the Vanguard. These few have a little more to offer than the first ones shown. Wish the Vader was more articulate, but is cool in a way.
roron corobb
-
I could be wrong, but I believe the clone is the same sculpt as this one -
(http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/ActionFigures/tsc/068/lf12.jpg)
I'm not too keen on the helmet - the removable ones usually look too large for my tastes. :-\
-
What body is that 7th legion Clone? It isn't the 41 style. It looks like a Quick draw to some degree.
That's the ROTS Evolutions Clone. If you recall the second (grey) version, it had the interchangeable kama and utility belt. This is the same Clone body, but in this case the utility belt is not removable.
-
Yes! We finally get to see the launcher. Looks great. Nice to find out B1 includes his little restraining harness too.
-
Yes, I think you guys are right on the 7th legion clone, but I would have preferred the 41 style. I fell you Chewie, as the helmet does look to large and in most cases distorted in the package. I like the mid torso articulation over the removable helmet. I don't think Hasbro could improve the 41 any more than where it is now. It’s one of the best figures done.
roron corobb
-
Is the rocket launcher supposed to have an actual missile-firing mechanism? If so, it would explain the excessive dimensions.
-
It definitely looks like it can size wise, but the loose picture I saw looks like the launcher is solid. I'll post it when I find it.
-
To add to the pile, I see that a few of the etailers (NewForce, D&S) are saying they are expecting this wave in the next two weeks.
And, as for the nomenclature of the waves, a few people pointed out to me that Hasbro refers to this wave as "Wave 7.5" a few times in the Q&A sessions, so I guess that is the "official" name.
Thanks to those who sent me PMs asking for the name changes... you got your way, ya bastards. ;)
-
I've been reading and hearing people panicking that since wave 8 is shipping that Hasbro skipped this wave entirely. ::)
-
We can only hope.
-
Its sad to admit, but there's really only three figures from the repaint wave that I really want - but I know it will bug me if the coin album has those gaps in it, so I'll probably end up getting them all. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably be ok if they skipped the wave :P. I am glad to see R2-B1, as I could never find that figure originally, and the Clone and Holo Vader are pretty nifty.
-
I am looking forward to R2B1 & Pax. There are terrific repaints.
Like all the other crap coming this wave will come out. In fact, I can see the boards moaning about how it is peg warming stores blocking the way for the great 08' figures. It makes complete sense that this wave would come after the AOTC wave even though the wave number is 7.5/8. Keep in mind the TFU was changed after the figures were set in place. The wave 7.5 or wave 8 whatever its called a created after wave 9. Wave 9 first then wave 7.5/8
Do not panic.....yet.
-
I'm happy that this wave will follow wave 8: AOTC. That way it might be easier for me to find some of those figures before they are all gone. Jango, Destroyer Droid, and the Mc Rebel Trooper will be hard to find anyway, but now I don't have to worry so much are to never seeing them. This wave I know will be plentiful everywhere.

This wave is up as of 11/22 at HasbroShop! Only allowing you to buy one of each figure. Good luck!
-
If you buy five, you get a free ROTS Vader!
Oooooooooo! Aaaaaahhhh! :-\
-
I missed the clone and the vader but i ordered the rest. The free Vader could be done without.
-
Missed the 7th Legion Trooper I guess. Oh well.
-
Holographic Vader is up.
-
All that's left is Pax, Nabbo Trooper and Vanguard trooper. :(
-
Missed the 7th Legion Trooper I guess. Oh well.
I got one of each, but not this one. I don't think he was ever up, since he's not even listed as sold out or coming soon. Thanks to Icey for the tip on this!

Nice job HTS. Put up the whole wave except 1 guy, then put him up for sale by himself days later. Oh, and let's keep that limit of one per household. ::)
-
Got to open all but the Vader and Poncho Clone. What can be said about them accept that they're repaints? We've played with them all before, but now they have different colors.
-
This is the only wave I haven't ordered from NFC this year. I really only want the coins from this wave to fill up the album. If anyone decides to do something crazy and buy multiples, let me know as I'm very interested in the coins. ;D
-
I would not mind the 2 clones but more than likely I won't buy either. The others I won't pick up...ever.
-
Popped open a Hawkbat clone last night. Kind of a neat figure, but I'm not sure where to fit it into an organizational hierarchy.
-
I got my box from New Force today.
I think my favorite is actually Pax. He's a very cool repaint of a very well articulated sculpt. Nice to have a little Rodian diversity for the galaxy.
The rest? Meh...
-
I found quite a bit of this wave at our local Target on Sunday, and picked up Pax and R2-B1. They didn't have Holo Vader or the Hawkbat Trooper, which I was also looking for. I have to agree with Jeff, Pax is actually a pretty nice figure - and I like it more than I thought I would. I didn't necessarily care about much of this wave when it was first announced (aside from R2-B1 and the Hawkbat), but Pax is a nice surprise as well. I might pick up a couple others from the wave if I see them later this week, but I have to admit it might mainly be for the stupid coins :P.

I agree... I found Pax and the red Naboo guy (passed on Naboo) and I have to say that Pax looks fantastic! I might be persuaded to get a few more for a nice little group of Rodian thugs.
-
Got to open the last figure I needed for this wave, the Holo-Vader. Not much I can say other than i stand by my disappointment with the mold used. I think this is the second Holo-Figure I've ever opened and the only reason why I purchased a second is because of the coin. :P
-
Anyone else think the Hawkbat Clone's weathering is cartoony looking? I know they were in the Clone Wars cartoon, but they paint reminds me of the older POTF2 figures weathering paint jobs. One of the hardest figures to find in the wave. I would Say Holo Vader is number one as I didn't find him at all. Runner up to than two would be R2-B1 and the 7th Clone. I would have really liked to see something a little more with the figures, as all the others this year had much in the way of accessories and extras. The Naboo Guard would have been better if he had a different head sculpt than the yellow version.
Anyway I would have to agree with Pax being the best of the wave. It's funny that you can find him in numbers, as with I see Naboo Guard and Vanguard Trooper as pegwarmers.

Yeah Pax rocks! I've got three of him already. I can see a group of them being a gang of Rodian thugs in the Coruscant underworld. :)

But that is the problem, it's not a cartoon version of the Clonetrooper. The weathering of the figure pictured on the card back looks real over what the final version has. I don't know, there is just no shading to what they did. Would have looked better on the cartoon version over the movie version IMO. It just bugs me some I guess.

I'm up to four of him now, after my wife got me one today. I've swapped out their jackets with the VTSC Han Endor. Looks great. WOOT! :P

Finally saw wave 7.5 in a store today. It was somewhat underwhelming. I passed on the whole set.
-
I was looking at this picture of the 7th Legion clone on 'scum, and I noticed the next to last figure is a 501st. Does anyone know when that version was released? Is that the Battlefront pack maybe? I want those! I love this sculpt.

EDIT: Answered my own question. My suspicions were correct, it's the Battlefront pack.

This and the Hawkbat are my faves from this wave. I was looking over Pax more closely today and I think its the paint ap on his face. That white to green fade is really awesome. Greedo was also one of my faves from the vintage line, so thisis a nice homage to him. My only complaint on Pax is his hands - the way he holds his gun looks odd with the fingers straight out.

Why do these get shorter with each new release?
-
Hey, that is really odd! Is this just the way they are posed? Anyone else check this out at home? I don't want to move mine as they are precariously set up... :-[
-
Why do these get shorter with each new release?
It's a mix of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and the rickets!
-

Its just a deceptive visual. Each clone took one more step backwards than the clone to his right. ;)

I have yet to see this wave in ANY store! If were not for HTS I would not ever have one of these figures yet, I would still like to pick up a couple extra clones from this wave. Thank god for HTS!

I have yet to see this wave in ANY store! If were not for HTS I would not ever have one of these figures yet, I would still like to pick up a couple extra clones from this wave. Thank god for HTS!
I have yet to see this wave in any store either.
As a matter of fact, I'm down to only one figure left to get for my TAC collection to be complete - the Hawkbat Battallion Clone.
A friend of mine ordered five cases of this wave online, he already got them and I traded with him for his extras for a boatload of Wave 8 figures I picked up for him when I scored mine.
Thanks to that trade I now have 5x Rebel Vanguard, 5x Naboo Soldier, 5x 7th Legion Trooper (2 of these were from HTS), 3x Pax Bonkik, 3x Holo Vader and 3x R2-B1. The only reason why he got five cases in the first place is because the Hawkbat clone ships 1 per case, so he needed five cases to meet his needs.
So now that I STILL have yet to see this wave anywhere, I'm getting nervous that I might not get all of the Hawkbat clones I need - minimally I need three of them (one MOC, two to open to complete my two coin albums). Ideally I want five of them. I have a case on order with EE that has 2 Hawkbat clones in it, but I HATE getting cases for just one or two figures. While I do end up with a lot of extra other figures, I always end up feeling like I paid $84 just for the two figures I needed.
Hopefully this wave will start to ship in mass quantities soon - I'm hoping that Wave 7.5 will be what Target starts to get to fill all of the empty pegs they have post Toy Aisle reset.
-
I have not seen this wave either, and I too only need the Hawkbat clone to finish the year. I would be happy with just the coin to finish the album but even those seem to go for too much on ebay.

You will see it being put out through April. Additionally, I think the Hawkbat is repacked into Wave 1 of 2008.

You'll have Hawkbats coming out of your ears.

Don't even think about it. Just stay patient, you'll find it repeatedly. Months from now, you will still be seeing it on the pegs.

Yeah, the Hawkbat clone is not going to be hard to find folks...
Wave 8, Revision 3 will come with TWO Hawkbat Clones with coins (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS87500H3).

No, I'm not. It just amazes me how much the coins are going for on ebay. It doesnt make any sense. They are selling for more than the figures. ???

Yeah - that's the case I have on order with them. I think in the Wave 8 Revision 2 case there's two of them as well. But like I said, when I already have at least 2 of every other TAC figure open and I really don't need any of the other figures in the case, it's a bitter pill to swallow to get 10 other figures I don't need.

Well - like evenflow pointed out, the key thing here is the coins - if Hasbro allowed me to buy JUST the Hawkbat coin from HTS, I'd be okay with that. Unfortunately, the Hawkbat figure in Wave 1 of 2008 will NOT be coming with a coin, instead he will be coming with a stand.

That's actually wave 7.5 revision #3. EE labels 7.5 and 8 wrong. :P Revision #1 also has two hawkbat clones.

And as of 6:45PM EDT the Hawkbat Batallion clone is sold out. >:(

Hawkbat has been sold out since around 1pm PST.
-
Well - the Hawkbat Clone is no longer listed on Hasbro Toy Shop.
This is really starting to upset me.
Does anyone have any spare coins from Hawkbat Clones they're willing to part with?
-

Then let's hope Hasbro fixes the visor by then.

PM on the way.
-
Anyone have any coins from any wave 7.5 figures? :)
That wave's barely hit here, and at this point I'm more concerned on the coins than the figures.

I have all the Coins from Wave 7.5 But Vader Actually I have almost all the coins with the exception of most of the Vaders that and Han and Exclusives that came out this year. I was going to unload them on evilbay or use them for trade. If you want them maybe we can work out a deal.
-
I also need some of the coins from this as well: Naboo, Pax, Hawkbat Clone and Vader.
ctonra, I do have the exlusive McLuke if you need one.
