Already wasted 45 minutes on EE, HTS, Gamestop and TRU.com this morning looking for something on sale that was actually worth buying. No luck so far.

Still holding out hope for Amazon...

Yeah, I ended up buying very little compared to years past. A couple of cheap 6" fodder figs at Amazon at the end of the day was about it. Fine with me, I can always find other ways to spend my dough.

I've grabbed a bunch of clearance stuff from Walmart recently. I finally grabbed both Electronic Duel figures for $5 each. Got a few $15 A-wings, some Ezra speeders for $4.50 each, and best of all today a handful of 6" Scarif Stormtroopers for just $7 a pop.  ;D

Just looking forward to some cheap imperial speeders now!

$7 AWings?  Hmmm tough to pass that up today even if the ship does suck.  For $7 I'm willing to do some work.

Stack o $20 ships went to clearance area and went from a clearance price allllll back up to $19.86 or whatever it is.  Kinda sucks.  All the imperial bikes went from $9 to full price.  Meh.

Keep seeing stuff get cut at Wally World...  Saw the larger ships down some today, but not enough for me to bite.

I'm working on one of the A-Wings I got for $7.  I think I can make a pretty slick believable version of the pre-AWing with it.  It actually is oddly scaled depending how you view scale...  Being animated and all I figure that has some leeway to it, but the ship is pretty tiny.  The A-Wings in ROTJ though, there's 2 distinctly different scales.  One tiny, one fairly sizable by comparison, so I figure this could be a much weaker cousin of the ROTJ era A-Wing ultimately.  The Alliance maybe just decided the idea was sound, the ship just needed more umph and size to bump survivability.  This though, it looks like TIE bait and I kinda like that since Rebels makes it out that these things are getting lit up like firecrackers by basic TIEs of the era (the "small wing" model TIE Fighter that's common in the show, for whatever reason).

The ship in Rebels appears at different sizes/scales too for some reason.  Go figure.

The ultimately devious Hasbro design for this ship though, for those wanting to make it better, is they glued the nose together at the tip.  Just completely made it a chore to "fix"...  not that it wasn't a project anyway, but yeah, that inability to take it completely apart is a big hurdle now.  Easily broken by my eye.

But I'm cutting the NERF out anyway, and creating a cover there, so it's already a chunk of work.

Well, those aisle shippers were sent to just a few stores and not any near me.  I've been checking 4-6 different stores almost everyday and today the 2 nearest me didn't have any sign of the displays.  So it's selective.

I'm working from home this week and did a brief toy run on my lunch break to pick up Rogue One. Target put nothing out except for the 6 inch AT-ACT pilot. No Jedha battle packs, no new figures, no nothing. Same old picked over shelves they've had since November. TRU was even worse, having gutted their collection of Finn figures and pushing single figures to the front of the pegs to make the empty shelves look full.

Looks like we're done until Force Friday.
Title: Re: Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts
Post by: McMetal on April 4, 2017, 07:10 PM
one of the Targets I went had a huge display (not that little black shipper) with all the DVDs and blu-rays and some of the Jedha packs, but nothing else new of note.

I did pick up a few AT-ACT Drivers at a different Target to take advantage of that $25 off deal.

Not a real complainer but today was a bust on the SW front. Seems like it was for most people. I know some folks are finding 40th Vader's and such but here there are no 5 POA new waves, 6 inch, maybe one or two AT-ACT Drivers. A couple Jedha Revolt sets at one Target. This is a very whimpering way to support the home video release of the biggest film of 2016.  ???

Title: Re: Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts

Yeah no shipping.  It's easy peasy.  I've done that even for random stuff my stores don't always have in stock just so I get what I need/want.  Do the same at Walgreens.
Title: Re: Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts
Post by: Phrubruh on May 8, 2017, 09:43 AM
The problem with walmart ship to store is the incompetent employees working back there. Those people take a long time finding anything in the back. The computer says it there but they will come back and tell you its not and to come back later just to get rid of you. I even had one employee take a half hour break while she was looking for my package. The lines are huge just because they can't process orders fast enough and don't know where anything is. It will cost less of your time to ship home instead.
Title: Re: Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts
Post by: Nicklab on May 8, 2017, 10:54 AM
I've only done ship to store with WalMart a couple of times.  The most recent time I did that it worked great.  It appeared that my order was packaged at a distribution center, and that box was placed in one my local stores pickup lockers.  I entered my order info at the kiosk and the locker with my order popped open, and I walked right out of the store.  Pretty easy in my book!
Title: Re: Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts
Post by: Jesse James on May 8, 2017, 11:08 AM
Yeah never experienced that.  Long line one time but it was Xmas so layaway had it backed up.  Otherwise I use it relatively often and it works.  Got a bunch of Death troopers that way and my Cassian Andor figures because the assortment never shipped here.

I've used it for our cat's food cuz our store never has the kind we use in stock in the smaller bags and so I say piss on it and order online.  I'm always back to toys anyway so it's not even outta the way in the store.  Sometimes my gf shops while I go pick it up tho.
Title: Re: Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts
Post by: Scockery on May 10, 2017, 06:43 PM
No real problems with mine other than the usual  paranoia I feel every time I enter a Wal-Mart* and the odd employees...I having resting bitch face, so people think I'm impatient or something, and if you buy Star Wars toys sometimes they look at the package like they've never seen one before. I'd go automatic teller but...I had bottle return slips and they have to processed by a humtron employee.

*I've heard people say things about Wal-Marts and Meijers...they have "prepare themselves" if they go there. I don't think they meant shopping list, either.

I picked up my order today.  Nobody there but you tap the card swipe and it's set up to call someone back.  He scanned my phone bar code I signed he scanned the box I left.  Easy peasy.

Now, checking out was a whole other thing because the meat dept f'ng up the sticker on packaging is frequent and the people at the counter I rang out at apparent didn't understand entering department and doing the math (weight x price per pound) to get the item's price, and had to call for help so someone could come back and do exactly that...  not that I even work there but still knew how to do that for them.  ::)

Yeah seriously I knew what to do that'd work and they didn't.  JHC.

4 figures for $13 is a pretty good bargain these days... even if they are all 5 poa.

It would be nice if they get around to making the tank at some point.  But in general, I get the sense that we might be in a transitional period right now.  Will the re-launch of the Vintage Collection mean that we'll get well articulated versions of all of the characters in this set?  Possibly.  But I'm skeptical about a lot of things with the Star Wars line in general right now.
Title: Re: Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts

I wouldn't count on any of the 3 exclusives getting super articulated any time soon except maybe the tank driver. Likely Rogue One will be pushed to the back as Last Jedi and Han Solo movie figures take up new slots.

Brickseek has shown the Target sale prices in effect since Tuesday...but they only just went into effect today.  :)

The nice thing is they are apparently dumping everything from the storeroom onto the shelves in conjunction with the sale, so I was able to get 3 Thrawns they had just put out at one store for $3.98 each.  8)

I've literally been to five different stores now where all they have for 6" is Jyn and Cassian. I don't even want those for $5 a pop.

It's definitely strange how the clearance prices can vary.  This is what I spotted on clearance at Target this morning:

TFA 3.75" figures - $3.84
R1 3.75" figures - $5.58
Speeder vehicles - $9.98
U-wing - $24.98

Yeah, but FLEET BUILDING can get pretty dangerous.  I'm dealing with the after effects of that, and the space issues that arise when you've got multiple X-wings, Y-wings, B-wings, TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors take up.  It's challenging, to say the least.

Yeah, I saw a slew of TFA figures at one Target for $2.30 a pop.

Regular and deluxe figures are on sale, but not the 2-packs.  ???

I also had some problems getting a 6" Krennic to ring up at the clearance price, due to the whole DPCI snafu. I ended up getting them for the proper price but it was an unwelcome hassle.

Meijer's been reducing all Hasbro Star Wars stock it seems. Jedha Revolt is down to $12.48, I think. Most were still marked at 25% off I forgot to scan the other stuff still marked 25% off to see if it was lower. They only 3 different figures and 1 two-pack left.

Regular and deluxe figures are on sale, but not the 2-packs.  ???

I noticed that, too.  And of course, there's still the mystery of the Bistan / Shoretrooper Captain 2-pack that never appeared.  Is Target hanging onto hope that these will turn up before Force Friday, LOL?!?!

My local Target had TFA figures at $3.84 and R1 figures at $3.98. The deluxe TFA was down to $7+ and the Jedha Revolt set at $12.48. 2 packs were still full price and overflowing the pegs

It sounds like the DPCI for the 2-packs is being kept since that line is continuing for TLJ (that Han Solo/Boba Fett set we saw was scheduled for Fall 2017).  Bad news there is, now we have to hope the old stock won't keep new stock from arriving.

It is my understanding that the same "market factors" that killed 5POA Wave 4 in the USA probably prevented Bistan/ShoreCaptain from even being made.  Probably goes back to the "not very good at all" decision to release a case that was 5/8ths full of Finn/Phasma re-dos.   ::)

There are signs that Bistan/ShoreCaptain will end up in the TLJ 2-packs assortment, but I don't believe that has been 'officially' confirmed yet.  I had sent an email to Hasbro PR folks, but with D23/SDCC the last few weeks no one has had time to get back to me on that yet...  :(

I think it was 2 Leias and a Jyn, as I recall...same difference though.  ;)

Still waiting on that next round of Target clearance to come around.

Strange i haven't seen that Leia in some time, but I also rarely go searching toy aisles anymore.

Still a lot of those poncho Jyns at Target.  She'll rival Pilot Padme as a female character army builder (you'd have to be familiar with chinese auctions to get that, lots of helmetless AOTC pilot Padmes were cheap for years.)

I saw the ROGUE ONE 3.75" figure 2-packs and 12" Hero Series figures at 5 Below.  I was tempted to get some of the 2-packs (Moroff & Scarif Squad Leader, Baze Malbus & Stormtrooper Commander), but I'm trying to save some $$$ in advance of the TLJ line rollout.

On Friday I saw just about the weirdest thing I have ever seen in SW collecting. I hit a 5Below for some cheap 3-packs and only found a couple of Pao sets. I decided to pick one up anyway and while standing in line to check out I noticed a guy 2-3 people ahead of me with a shopping basket FILLED with all the "good" 2-packs. He must have had 12-14 easily. Nothing else in the cart either. He obviously came just for those, and even knew enough to bypass the less attractive Pao set.

based on that observation you have to figure the guy is a scalper right? Well, here is the kicker - dude was like 80 years old! Waaaay past the age of anyone I have ever seen on a toy aisle without a grandkid in tow. It was just so bizarre...I was tempted to talk to the guy but I had a strong feeling he would snap at me for my impudence. Lol

Meijer's Jedha packs and last single card stragglers disappeared when they reset their aisle. Not a 3 3/4" Star Wars figure to be found in the store.

Picked up 2 Stormtrooper Kanans, Sgt Jyn Ponchro and a TFA First Odor pilot with claw toilet accessory at Target. They still have over a dozen Ezra speeder bikes for $6.

Considering the 2-packs that came out in the Rogue One range, what do you consider the "good" 2-packs? The ones with Baze and Moroff?

Just curious.

Baze Moroff for sure, and the 7th sister Maul pack, which I thought was great.

HTS actually has the Ahsoka Vader 2-pack for $4.50, so I wasn't too worried about that one.

I went to another Target, mostly cleaned out but for 2 Jyn Ersos (the scarf version) and one Eadu Cassian, which I almost got but noticed his shoulder had a big gap between the torso...packaging thing? Maybe? But the prospect of a figure with a very loose arm annoyed me so I left with nada since i already had the Jyn from the Jedha revolt set and I didn't think her spring action weapon was worth $2.38+ tax.

After months of clearance aisles for $15, the nearest Wal-Mart reduced the Rebels speeder bikes to $3! I was lucky enough to find the very last one...with AT-DP driver. That how it often is, stuff sits forever at a meh price then you go back and find you mostly missed the party.  Even the formerly $8 Sarco Planks are gone.

AT-ST back in stock and still $60...I guess that's black series, though.

Some atst sales are going on for $30 but highly limited.  Saw it On brickseek.

I scanned it to be sure....was 60.

Went to another Wal-Mart, still had Rogue One figures for $4 and Force Awakens for "see associate". No super cheap speeders or anything. No accidentally shelved Last Jedi items.

Target Rogue One  figures are now ITEM NOT FOUND. Guess that means, free. They clearly don't sell them, right?  :P

They had a TIE Striker that had been opened, no pilot in the widow of the box. $12...but who knows what's inside? Not gonna open it on the aisle. Passed.

Did get the only 6" Cassian Andor left for $3....because he's got to be worth more than that someday...maybe?

Only clearance item left at one of my local WMs was the Jedha 4 pack, which I snagged for $13. Most of my Walmarts have been sold out of 5POA figures for over a year, and I got sick of seeing the Goss Toowers, umm, towers at Target.

My local 5 Below restocked with the Unkar Plutt wave and more 2-packs.  :)

I picked up two Rexes and a few Baze, Moroff, and 7th Sister sets.

Probably should not be spending money so close to FF but those were too tempting to pass up.

Pao and Death Trooper makes a decent army building pack, because a minor character like Pao can be army built (or slightly customized) but what you're gonna do with extra Bazes? Find some heads? Make some gunners in coveralls?

For those R1 sets, I have some other Rogue One leftovers I would like to package them with as a lot, and they'll provide better value overall, both for me and the buyer.

The Rebels stuff I'd like to keep for some custom projects.

Nearest 5 Below restocked, got Shore Trooper & Moroff...they only one but got it.

Wal-mart had the Snowtrooper/Poe set for $7 but I couldn't bite at that price. They had an empty package of somebody (snowtrooper?)  and the beardy pilot from Force Awakens, not empty the thief left the spring action accessory.

Target's old 2-packs VANISHED, IIRC. They had 20+ still at full price a week ago.  Strange.

Check the clearance sections/endcaps. All the stores in my area moved their Rogue One 2 packs but left them at full price. I was so sure with the sets not being clearanced they were gonna re-use the DPCI for the TLJ sets. Who knows what they're doing...

Got a TIE STRIKER at Meijer for $12. Last one. Is it worth it? Dare I open it? Just leave it in the box and hope it will be worth its original retail in a few years?  :P

The Jedha Revolt sets are under $8. Jyn eadu and Imperial Comptroller er...uh....whatever are $2.30 something.

Jedha Revolt 4-pack (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hasbro-star-wars-rogue-one-jedha-revolt-4-pack/5766806.p?skuId=5766806) - $7.99 at BestBuy.com.  And with the in store pickup option you can get it with free shipping.  If you want to army build the Tank Drivers this might be a decent option.  But then an SA version of the Tank Driver is on the way in the return of the TVC line.

Dollar Tree is getting wave 2 cases in. Yes, dollar tree...(I assume everyone knows already)

I hit 4 locations, found nada at 2, two single figures at one and an unopened case at another where I scored a stormtrooper. But he's only one per case.
