Think it will be this? :)
Or this? ;)
Or this.... :'(
(http://www.rebelscum.com/ROTS/ROTSstarfighterpreview.jpg)
Or something else??
:P
-
Blockade Runner is my guess.
-
I am guessing that it will be the blockade runner or the AT TE
-
A blockade runner would be very cool, as it would tie in with the Original Trilogy very well...
While I'd love to see it made in comparison to the Royal Starship in size, I'd also like to see a Juggernaut and AT-TE made... and a Homing Spider Droid...
:P
-
Hmmm, well...
Homing droid would be the best one, IMO, since it's the most able to be broken down into a smaller vehicle and packaged "smaller".
As much as I'd want an AT-TE since I love the design, I really want one to-scale. A throw-back to the old days when vehicles were big, like in the days of G.I. Joe ARAH. I'm just not expecting that though.
It's not huge, surprisingly, but part of me thinks it's just too big for Hasbro to do properly.
When rumors persist of a 1:18 scale bomber from other toy companies though, I'm always left wondering where the big vehicles are in Hasbro.
However, their track record is bad... Can't blame them. For what it was, the Gunship was a great toy overall, but just didn't move at retail really.
-
I heard a rumor from another collector (who I consider a very reliable source due to his track record) named Stan (he broke news about the Imperial Shuttle and Sandcrawler about a year before images surfaced) that we will be getting an AT-TE before Christmas time next year... I sure hope it's true.
I agree, the Homing Spider Droid would probably be fairly simple for Hasbro to pull off. I'd get 2 of them at least.
:P
-
Until the AT-TE sees fruition ;) I'm going to place my bet on the scale maxing out at the medium level they've always used with for the 24.99-29.99 pricepoint, like the CW vehicles. So, I'm expecting these are as big as we get:
Proto AT-ST (the exposed pilot walker)
ARC-70
And I think I already owned the Juggernaught as a kid, it was called Big Trak.
:)
-
Hey, that's pretty neat looking. Make a nice base to a custom vehicle... What was the "Big Trak" anyway? I've never seen that toy before.
-
In some ways it probably was a modification of the old vintage troop transport
-
That Big Trak is very cool - what line of toys was it from?
:P
-
Ok, the Big Trak is from ET, made by Milton Bradley in 1979.
:P
-

An AT-TE? If it is made, sign me up for no less than 3.
-
I think I would have to get at least 2 of them - 3 if space permits.
:P
-
An ATTE would be very fine indeed!
-
I agree. And if we don't get one in 2005, we probably never will.
:P
-
Uh... WTF?:
Biker Scout Clone? (http://www.galactichunter.com/photo.asp?image=absolutenm/articlefiles/3827-bikerclone.jpg)
-
Heh...
I guess in ROTS they ride choppers into combat and in ROTJ they ride crotch rockets? :)
-
*High Pitched Squeal* Rescuplted Biker Scout!!!!
Oh, wait, this thing is going to suck...I think I see a wheel.
-
Looks like a wheel indeed, but hey this is great!
:P
-
Almost looks like the old 70's Kenner Smash Up Derby/SSP Racers that came with a plastic rip cord that you pulled from the veichle & then set it on the floor & it went like a bat out of hell. Hmmm, I wonder. (http://www.cheesebuerger.net/images/smilie/konfus/a015.gif)

DSJ, thanks for the pics. Kinda funny seeing similarities like that.
:P
-
That Biker Scout is fantastic. But yeah, the hell? ;D
-

Eh? Sorta... They're really close in an ambiguous way! :)
Oh, yeah, I dig that scout too... I even like the bike, sorta, I guess... I think the ROTJ design is more "military" looking though.
If the scout's nicely articulated, I'm ALL about htat figure seeing a ROTJ repaint. He'll at least be good fodder to start off with.
-
I hope that Scout is removable.
I'd assume so, but you never know with Hasbro.
-
So going back and looking at the line list, the speeder is surely the "BARC Speeder" but does anyone have a guess at the price for these guys? Or has it been listed somewhere?
Small Vehicles
#01 GRIEVOUS WHEEL BIKE
#02 BOGA W/ OBI-WAN
#05 BARC SPEEDER W/BARC TROOPER
And also looking at the list, the Starfighters are listed as "large" which is pretty tiny, me thinks. I hope we don't get shafted out of a nice big scale toy this year. I really want a frickin' AT-TE. >:(
-
I really want an AT-TE too... seems like almost everyone out there wants one to be made.
Remember Stan, the collector who used to post here a while back? He was right about the Sandcrawler and the Kmart Cantina sets way before any official confirmation or fan sites said anything about them coming out, and he claimed recently that the AT-TE would be released in the Fall or right before Christmas. Let's hope so.
:P
-
Then I suppose that the swamp speeder thing will be the Medium Vehicle?
-
I don't know... Hasbro's really confusing me here... and how could they possibly consider Obi Wan's starfighter to be a "big vehicle?"
A new list from a French site isn't listing the AT-TE in the '05 lineup.............. :-\
:P
-
But there's 2 ships in a "Gunship" assortment on that list. So a repaint gunship obviously... but could we be getting an underscaled AT-TE as the second ship in that asst?
-
Ooooh - I think we still might be getting an AT-TE - even if it is underscaled, it would be cool. The AT-AT is underscaled, and it's still awesome.
:P
-
Looks like we might be getting the Clone Turbo Tank AND the AT-TE. I can't imagine why Hasbro might make the AT-TE Gunner and Turbo Tank Driver otherwise.
-
Nicklab, I hope you are right! Please be right. :-*
:P
-
Not to be a dick, but we have a Cloud Car Pilot and no modern Cloud Car.
Eschewing the EU one, or course.
-
Word has it that the Cloud Car will be re-released in later 2005 or early 2006. I know, rumors don't mean crap, but the person who claims this was right on a couple other occassions (I've never seen him be wrong.) - his name is Stan, and he posts here once in a while and at Rebelscum.
:P
-
Republic Gunship is confirmed to be re-released in a new (and pretty sweet) deco. I'll pick one or two up.
-
Yeah, the new paint deco on it looks pretty cool... haven't decided if I need/want this 3rd version yet.
:P
-
Nice to see the Gunship getting re-released. I always liked the design (OT-ish I think), and it is a nice, big toy (vehicle) that we don't see all that much of in the Star Wars line anymore. I'll be passing, I have the first version and I'm happy with that, plus, I just don't have the room. Vehicles on their own are big enough to display, but this sucker is quite large and the wingspan doesn't help any. Paint redeco is nice too though.

I, too, like the idea of the Gunship being re-released.
Like you (and a lot of others I'm sure) the re-release of this ship allows me to save a little $$ as I will be passing on buying it. Thanks for helping me save some $$, Hasbro! :P
Unless they pack in a new RotS Clone or something to make it new/better, I'll be happy with my AotC Gunship and my CW Gunship to transport my clone army allowing me to pass on this one.

I'm guessing this one will go on clearance somewhere down the road and I'll get one...
...usually I don't wait for clearances, but I already have two of the SAGA version. If this were an all new vehicle though, you bet I would get it in a heartbeat.
C'mon - let's see an AT-TE..........

Yakface.com now has some more pictures of the DISPLAY (http://www.yakface.com/2005/walmart/walmart.shtml), including some closer shots of a few items, and some that I don't think could be seen in the RS pics. A few examples:
BARC Speeder w/Trooper (http://www.yakface.com/2005/walmart/1.jpg)
Ding...ding...ding! I don't believe it, the BARC Speeder has the rip cord! :o
-
Heh, the third cell in your cartoon strip has an SSP Black Widow - sold mine on ebay last year for about $35 or something like that. Wow Dale, you are old. :P
-
Wow Dale, you are old. :P
Yeah, but not as old as Bob! ;D :P
-
Hmmm... I'm getting a bad feeling that the biggest vehicle will be the Gunship. :(
:P

I sure hope not.... I sure hope not. :(

:P
Probably not. Hasbro has always spaced out vehicle releases in the movie years. I don't see why they wouldn't do the same this year. I think they held back for a little while before releasing the Naboo Royal Starship in 1999.

Yeah, historically (especially in the Modern Era) the large ticket items such as the '95 Falcon, '97 AT-AT and '99 Naboo Royal Starship debuted in August/September so that they would be in stores for the back to School shopping AND more specifically the Holiday shopping.
A $80-100 toy sells MUCH better in November as opposed to June. If Hasbro does give us a large vehicle like a Turbo Tank or AT-TE, I wouldn't expect to see it in the stores until Late Fall/Early Winter...
Jeff
-
I agree - the Gunship and Arena were late 2002 additions, so it makes sense that they would do something similar for 2005... if we get both of these made it will be a blessing.
:P
-
I thought the ARC Wing thingy was on some lists isn't it? I haven't seen that in any of the pics
-
I haven't heard of the ARC 170 discussed as a launch vehicle. The sooner they crank it out, the better, though. It's an army building ship. :)
There's no sign of Obi-Wan's Starfighter repaint or the Greivous wheely thing, either.
-
Probably a mistake (at least on the dates), but Amazon has the following vehicle listings (supposedly shipping Feb 8):
Anakin Skywalker's Starfighter (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00065ARIE/qid=1107271954/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-2974262-8187260?v=glance&s=toys)
Obi-Wan Kenobi's Starfighter (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00065ARIO/qid=1107271954/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/002-2974262-8187260?v=glance&s=toys)
Grievous Wheel Bike (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000701CW8/qid=1107271954/sr=1-5/ref=sr_1_5/002-2974262-8187260?v=glance&s=toys)
Tri Droid Fighter (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00065ARIY/qid=1107271954/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/002-2974262-8187260?v=glance&s=toys)
Oh, and on the other subject, I really hope that we see that ARC fighter, looks like a cool design and could make a great toy.
-
Hmmm.... Interesting... very very interesting...
:P
-
Thanks for the Amazon links. Interesting that they have the same ship date on the vehicles as sws.com lists for the Anankin fighter -- Feb 8. Might as well do a preorder just to see if they let slip some April goodies early.
-

You were right - it's on the 4-inches list that GH linked to today:
85414 Gunship (large Vehicle) Assortment
Wave 1 - April 2005
2x Republic Gunship
2x ARC 170 Clone Starfighter
I imagine the ship will get proper treatment at the higher pricepoint.
