So, I did something stupid today and got my finger caught in my bike's freewheel while cleaning it.  It (I) crushed the finger pretty good... it's swollen and cut up, but I don't think I broke it or anything.   I'm mentioning this here because the nail is pretty much cracked in half, although largely still attached.  I cut off the little bit that I could but cutting it any more is horribly painful.

Has anyone around here ever done anything like this?   My understanding is that it will pretty much grow back slowly as the cracked nail grows out... but I'd love to hear more confirmation on this from someone who's done something similar.  Reading fingernail forums and Google is only getting me so far.  I've got it cleaned up, wrapped up, medicated and dry... I'm just trying to figure out if I have to do anything about the nail itself.

I can post a pretty disgusting photo if needed, but I'm assuming no one wants to see it.

I figured I'd toot my own horn for a minute and share these with the class.  We recently launched a new website of our work and included are a pair of spots for Hasbro light sabers.  So, if you're into that sort of thing...

Watto's Junk Yard / Anyone ever filed a patent?
« on: April 7, 2011, 04:27 PM »
I've got a new (maybe) idea for a product that we use every day and I'm trying to file one.  Without talking about the idea... I have no idea what I'm doing and would love any advice anyone could offer up.

Other Toy Lines / Record Breakers: World of Speed
« on: March 28, 2011, 08:44 PM »
I had these race cars when I was a kid... the tracks were customizable and had side walls.  The cars had 6 rollers on them to keep them in the track.  You could take the body of the cars off and swap engines and other parts to make them faster.

The tracks were about 4 or 5 inches wide and 2 or 3 inches deep.  The cars were maybe 7" x 4" x 2"

Can anyone help me figure out the name of the brand?

By any chance do you any of you know the answer to this question?

My girlfriend is a graduate student in Michigan. She's living here in Chicago though. She received some fellowship money this year and is entering all of her tax stuff into Turbo Tax, and it's apparently telling her that she needs to pay state income tax on this money in Michigan and again in Illinois.

That sounds completely wrong to me but I don't really know this for a fact. I would think that she either earned the money in Michigan and it is not Illinois income or she's a resident of Illinois and should be taxed as residential earnings here.

Does anyone know if this is accurate? I'm trying to save her the few hundred dollars it would cost to hire someone to file her taxes for her since it would cut significantly into the tax savings if it can be changed.

So yeah, I'm looking for free tax advice.

Thanks in advance!

Hi All, I need to raise funds for a trip and since I'm not actively collecting these I've decided to let them go.  Included are 20 figures, sealed in their baggies, plus a Jabba's pipe set and a Hoth accessory set.

See the image below:

I'm asking for $300 for the lot of them, which is only an average of $15 each.  Included are:

  • Emperor Palpatine
  • Salacious Crumb
  • Max Rebo
  • AT-ST Driver
  • C-3P0 (Removable Limbs)
  • Endor Rebel Soldier
  • Klaatu
  • Weequay
  • Admiral Ackbar
  • 8D8
  • Han Solo (Endor)
  • Nikto
  • Prune Face
  • AT-AT Commander
  • Hoth Accessory Pack
  • Anakin Skywalker
  • Chief Chirpa
  • B-Wing Pilot
  • Han Solo (Hoth)
  • Nien Numb
  • General Nadine
  • Jabba's Pipe and Bowl

My only hope is that they'll go to a collector who wants to keep them in the bags instead of shipping them off to AFA.

Check my feedback here and here.

Thanks for looking![/s]

Hi Everyone, the holiday's are coming up and while I'm a little bummed to do it, I need to raise some extra cash so I'm parting with my baggie collection.  I'm not sure exactly what's fair for something like this, but based on the prices I paid, I'm asking $350 for the lot.  All are the real deal to the absolute best of my knowledge.  Feel free to email me with any questions.

Included are:

  • Emperor Palpatine
  • Salacious Crumb
  • Max Rebo
  • AT-ST Driver
  • C-3P0 (Removable Limbs)
  • Endor Rebel Soldier
  • Klaatu
  • Weequay
  • Admiral Ackbar
  • 8D8
  • Endor Han Solo
  • Nikto
  • Prune Face
  • AT-AT Commander
  • POTF Anakin Skywalker
  • Chief Chirpa
  • B-Wing Pilot
  • Hoth Han Solo
  • Nien Nunb
  • General Nadine
  • Hoth Accessory Pack
  • Sealed Jabba's Palace Parts

Looking for mint, complete versions of these four with original weapons.  I need them to be in exceptional condition.

  • Luke needs to be white, with no paint rubs and an original helmet and gun
  • R2-D2 needs to be white, with a nice dome, a very good sticker, and the original saber
  •  Yak Face needs to have no paint rubs at all and an original staff
  •  Blue Snaggletooth... no paint rubs to the boots, belt, or hair.  I need the limbs to be  similar in tone to the body.

Not to be difficult, but I'm picky about these.  I've been building a perfect set for years and these are the last four I need.  If they have any paint or sticker problems, they won't do.  If the weapons or accessories aren't original, I can't use them.

Given the high cost of these ones, I'll only buy if you have strong feedback here at JD or over at Rebelscum and clear photos of the figures I'd be buying.

Thanks in advance!
