Title: Anakin Skywalker's Jedi Starfighter
Post by: Jeff on November 13, 2003, 12:10 PM
Hi All,

I picked up Anakin's Starfighter last night at Target.

I wasn't sure I was gonna buy it, but the first few episodes of the cartoon convinced me I needed to have it.

Features:
VTOL Thruster: Positionable rear thruster for verticle take off/landing.  Goofy feature, but at least Anakins's Starfigher is a little unique here.

Positionable lasers:  Four paser cannnons, the two on the underside of the ship have a swing down feature that gives it almost a x-wing quality

Swing Wings:  Another feature stolen from US military aircraft, the wings (wingtips?) are positionable for either "attack" or "flight" mode.

Proton Torpedo:  Neifty little launch feature, you turn his Astromech's head to launch the missile.  Neat play-feature.

Drawbacks:
(big surprise here) - Clone Wars Anakin, you know the PILOT of this vehicle DOESN'T Fit in the cockpit!  No surprise with E2 vehicles having similar "features".   Ani's stance is too wide, his skirt too infexible, his Arms/sleeves too poofy!  I tried to cram him in there and it could be done, but only with potential damage to the figure (loosening/cracked joints)

On the plus side, I was able to get the Secret Ceremony Anakin (minus the cloak) into the pilot seat with much less difficulty (and the headband fits on him too, so there is a viable alternative.

Overall, I din't like the look of the toy at first, but with the cartoon and first hand "play experience" I can honestly say I am glad I bought it.

I give it a B+

Not the greatest vehicle, but a unique interpretation of the Jedi Starfighter...

Jeff

I'd definitely agree on your assessment about the Starfighter, didn't look all that hot at first, but once I saw it in the toon, I began to like it.

I would have liked to see a bit more special features in the toy though, lot of the parts that move are done manually, a nice little lever or spring utilizing the vector thruster in the back would have been nice to move the black wings forward or the cannon wings down
