Other Toy Lines / Re: Muppets
« on: March 18, 2004, 02:39 PM »
bullet1fan....I might be interested (especially in the Kermit) if I'm not able to get one through StarWarsShop.com (if it ever opens again).  I'll let you know, but if you have someone else that needs one before then that is fine too.  Thanks so much.

That's how I feel about it too Scott, I'd only want the "basics" from the Original Muppet Show...I don't have any interest in the "Muppets Tonight" or the various movies.  Oh...and Adventure Kermit of course :P.

I could definitely see where Minimates would be fun to collect (and addictive!).  Plus, I can totally see your aspect of space....being able to keep them all in a shoebox.  That is appealing to me, and maybe a reason why at times I'm not crazy about 6" scale stuff...just not enough room.  Then again, I collect some Unleashed, so how can I talk about space issues?  ::)  That is one reason why a part of me is leaning towards collecting minimates (or kubricks) of things I like (Batman, Marvel, Muppets).  Plus, it sounds like everyone who collects this scale really enjoys their collections.

Other Toy Lines / If You Could Only Choose One Other Toy Line....
« on: March 18, 2004, 11:22 AM »
I was just thinking about this this morning, since I have wanted to jump into a number of different lines over the past year...but due to money/space issues I haven't actually done it a number of times.  Not taking into consideration if you already have a "base" collection established, if you only had the money or funds to collect one thing outside of Star Wars stuff...what would it be?  I guess I'm saying, if you could start from scratch...which line would you choose if any?

Although I like figures/characters from a number of lines (Batman, MOTU), for me it would probably come from either Marvel Legends, LOTR, or the Muppets.  Right now I've been on a big Muppet kick due to nostalgia, the Indy Kermit, and recently picking up one of those "Best of the Muppet Show" DVDs.  I've always been, and always will be, a big fan of LOTR stuff...those movies are just so amazing.  I would also like to continue to collect the X-figs from Marvel Legends, which just have great product.  I guess if I could actually afford one line, and had to choose only one.....boy, its tougher than I thought.  Palisades runs things so well from what I have read, and their product is amazing.  Plus, that has the nostalgia factor.  LOTR is so cool.  And also, I really like the Marvel Legends figures.  I guess right now I'll say Muppets, although that will probably change tomorrow (it usually does with me it seems).

Other Collectibles / What is Your Favorite "Other SW Collectible"?
« on: March 18, 2004, 11:02 AM »
Sometimes it seems like the "other" collectibles are neverending for Star Wars, and I know that there are several others that I would like to get into if I had the money and space for them.  Out of what you have in your collection, which is your favorite "other" collectible...whether it is a single item or a certain line of items.  For me, outside of basic figures (vintage and modern) and the ships, etc. along with them, the other collectibles I have are OT Unleashed, the Playskool line (OT only), and I'm working on completing a Burger King Glass set (and a few other miscellaneous items).  I guess for me, I like all of these other focuses....but the Playskool line or the glasses would be my favorite.  I am really hoping the Playskool line does end up continuing...and I look forward to completing the OT glasses sometime this year too.  Maybe it is nostalgia, but I have always just loved these things.

The Bullpen / Marvel Legends
« on: March 17, 2004, 04:40 PM »
I was just looking over some photos again of the upcoming Marvel Legends/Classics etc. over at Julius Marx's page at AFTimes.  For those of you still collecting Marvel, which of the figures/waves are you looking forward to the most?  Are you planning on buying all of them, or just a few?  I have read now that the Iceman figure was just a mock-up, so hopefully there will be some improvements made to it, he was always one of my favorite X-Men, and it would be nice to put him with the rest of the team.  Otherwise, so many of the figures look great...but if there are any that I buy, it would probably be Juggernaut, Iceman, Storm, Phoenix, and possibly Brown Wolvie and Apocalypse.  The regular release Doc Ock is kind of tempting too though, looks pretty well done to me.

Further out, some of the others mentioned above that I am really looking forward to as well.  First among those is Spiderman 2.  I never actually got a chance to see the first one in the theatres (one of very few, I know), although we own the DVD now.  Spidey 2 is even more exciting to me because Doc Ock was always my favorite Spidey villain.  We'll be sure to catch that one.  I'm also interested in seeing Anchorman, because of Will Ferrell, and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow looked somewhat interesting as well.  We haven't ever actually seen any of the Harry Potter movies at all, so I guess I don't know that much about them.  I've always been curious to rent one to see what they were like.

Cartoon Network has a contest up where the grand prize is a chance to be a Star Wars Toy Designer for a day at Hasbro.  You can read more about it here:

Other Collectibles / Re: Star Wars Miniatures

I've been thinking about collecting these Matt, I guess it depends how hard it is to buy them (where they are available).  If they are going to be next to impossible, I might have to hold off.  Its been hard enough finding regular Saga figures lately :P.  I'll wait and see once they get closer to release, but the Original Trilogy set is appealing to me at least.  I have no desire to actually use them for the "game", probably just for a nice little "mini" collection :)  They do look pretty nice.

Cool, thanks for posting this Nakatu.  I'm happy to see another Ewok make it into the line, and it doesn't look too bad overall, hopefully we can all find it.

Other Collectibles / New Star Wars Miniatures (WOTC Game)
« on: March 17, 2004, 10:26 AM »
What do you guys think of these upcoming Star Wars miniatures, apparently for a future Wizards of the Coast game.  I've never been much for the card/role playing, etc. games, but the miniatures look kind of cool in a way.  You can check out some preview pictures (courtesy of Gaming Report.com) right here:

Star Wars Gaming Miniatures

GalacticHunter (as well as some of the presentation slides in these pictures) are reporting that some miniatures might be included with Hasbro figures as well.  All I need is to collect something else :P, but they do look kind of spiffy.  Sounds like there will be 60 Original Trilogy-based figures in the first wave, with a 60 figure Prequel-themed wave later in the year.

Watto's Junk Yard / Official Movie Thread
« on: March 16, 2004, 03:20 PM »
Sorry if this is already done, tried looking and didn't see a thread already.  Just thought it might be nice to have a thread to discuss movies...what is out, what's coming out, what you want to see, or your favorites of all time.  Whatever you want to talk about that is movie related.  Also, here's a look at what is coming:

Out Now

The Passion of the Christ
Secret Window
Starsky and Hutch
Hidalgo
Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London
50 First Dates
Twisted
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (re-released)
Spartan
Miracle
Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights
Eurotrip

Coming This Week (3/19)

Dawn of the Dead
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Taking Lives

Coming Next Week (3/26)

Jersey Girl
The Ladykillers
Never Die Alone
Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed

Opening April 2

Hellboy
Home on the Range
The Prince and Me
Walking Tall

I just listed the Nationwide releases, and I'm sure I'm still missing some...but its a starting point at least.  We haven't been very good at getting the movies we'd like to see lately, and will probably have to wait and see a few on DVD.  We were hoping to catch "The Passion of the Christ", "Hidalgo", "Starsky and Hutch" and I wanted to see "Return of the King" again in theatres.  Also, coming up, we are thinking about going to Jersey Girl and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...and although I have never read the comic and know little to nothing about the character, I kind of think the movie Hellboy looks cool.  We'll see how many we can make it too, I've always enjoyed the movie experience, and could probably go to one every week if there were enough good ones and we had the time.  Anyways...anything movies...discuss  :P

That picture is definitely creepy, and its funny how it just happened to catch that in the picture.  I'm sure it would really be a freak out type of thing to think you were that close to getting bitten by a shark.  Yikes.
