How come Fett didn't know that Lando was in the disguised as a Palace Guard working for Jabba?  He knew who Lando was...

I've often wondered this myself...  The "disguise" wasn't exactly fool-proof...  Didn't help he kept pulling it down for no really intelligent reason unless it was tough to breathe in.

Also, if you believe the games, Fett's Range-Finder (if it's his dad's) can scan and identify individuals, but they have to be loaded into his system first I guess...  It's in Bounty Hunter for the Gamecube anyway.  Is Fett around Lando closely at Jabba's place any?

At the time of ROTJ, it had probably been a few years since Boba Fett even heard Lando's name, much less seen him. I doubt Fett had any reason to expect to ever see Calrissian again... And what reason would Fett have to keep Lando's "profile" on hand, anyway, assuming he ever had it to begin with, when there are undoubtedly hundreds of thousands of outstanding bounties that he could capitalize off of.

Jabba's Palace is a pretty big place, and I doubt Boba was hanging around the skiff guards that much. He seemed to prefer the dancers.

I knew that was coming...  I didn't know where, but all I could think of was a great basis for a Dave Chapelle skit if he were just slightly nerdier.

part of the tale and the narration lets different characters the possibility to show new skills
The skill of disguise is shared by most of the sw characters, Lando, Han, Luke, Leia and of course Boba.

In the expanded universe we saw Chewbacca as Snoova and so on.

It was necessary to increase the performance of Lando, and as proof, resulted great. :)
