Collections / My Poster Collection - updated 10/27/05
« on: July 11, 2004, 07:13 PM »
So I took a few new pics of some new additions  :P

At my current count, I've got about 75 posters. Not all of them are pictured here still, I've just got so damn many it takes forever to take them all out of my storage space and photograph them. But I recently bought a fairly large lot/collection and wanted to add some new pics.

[shameless plug]I've got a few "extras" from the lot I bought - posters that i already had - that I will be posting in the Classifiends section soon [/shameless plug]

First up is my new current favorite poster - an original, authentic 1977 Style A one sheet. Yeah, it's pretty beat up. But in a way, I kinda like it, because the pin holes and the edge creases give me a warm, nostalgic feeling. This poster was actually hanging up at a theater almost 30 years ago. This is what my posters looked like when I was kid  :D. Plus, at the price I paid for it (under $10!!) I felt it was well worth it.

Next up, my new second favorite - a 1982 Star Wars Re-Release one sheet with the "Revenge of the Jedi" trailer banner at the bottom.

Whew!! That post took me forever  :P

Like I said, that's a good portion of my collection, but I do have more. No more photos at the moment, and with a big Chiller Theater Con coming up this weekend it won't be till at least next week that I get to photograph the rest. And who knows, maybe by then I'll have a few new ones to add in? I could use a few more posters  :D

Saga '02-'04 / do you still save your jedi master points?
« on: July 8, 2004, 12:03 AM »
tonight i was cleaning out a closet that had some star wars stuff in it, and i found a box of figures that i bought - some were extras for army building (saga tie pilots, hof stormies, a few clone 3 packs) and a few were just for customizing. i figured i might as well open them all, since storing some loose figures is easier and a better space saver than storing carded figures. i guess i opened about 40 figures, or around there. and each one that i opened, i couldn't bring myself to throw out the packaging without first ripping off the stupid jedi master points. i know they are worthless and useless, and i still have around 8000 sitting in a shoe box, but i just couldn't throw them out.

anybody else open anything recently and keep the points, or did you just toss 'em?

Saga '02-'04 / mock up prototype 12" stormtrooper?
« on: June 21, 2004, 07:41 PM »
check out this auction for a mock up prototype stormtrooper on ebay. any idea what this - is or was supposed to be? kinda looks like the luke/yoda walmart exclusive style packaging, with the clear semi-circular plastic. i didn't hear anything about an exclusive - or even a new stormtrooper of any kind.

 ???

upon looking at it further, it looks like it has the newer style hands, with the articulation on each finger like dooku and imperial officer, and the newer shoulder guards that came with the biker scout. the hands definitely look new, since you can see that the armor has been sculpted on top of them, but the rest of it looks like the old stormtrooper.

anybody??

Saga '02-'04 / do you have too much stuff?
« on: June 19, 2004, 04:54 PM »
over the course of the past several weeks, i've been going through all of the boxes of stuff that i've collected over the years. when i moved into this apartment a year and a half ago, there was an "extra" room at the back end that was supposed to be my collection room. well of course, the only thing it collected was crap that had nowhere else to go. but i recently took all the boxes - every single last one - and moved them out of that back room to set up my collection.

so, i picked up a few cd racks that were made of wood and had some glass sliding doors on them for the loose figures, and i decided i was going to hang all of my carded figures on the surrounding walls.

now, my back room (which was supposed to house my entire collection) is full. and the only things i have back there are:
*modern 4" carded figures '95 to present
*loose 4" modern figures '95 to present
    *loose 4" vintage figures '77 to '84
*a few loose vintage items (rancor, mail away stand and a few others)
and that's it.

i'm completely out of room. well, not completely. i have enough space for about another 75 carded figures on one wall, and maybe another 20 or so loose figures in the cases. after that, i'm done.

and that's only about 1/2 of the stuff that i wanted to display. the other stuff (vintage carded, modern and vintage 12" figures, lego, unleashed, model kits, statues, etc. etc.) is all scattered throughout two other rooms of the house - computer room and living room (the bedroom is off limits to star wars items, because it currently houses my nightmare before christmas collection). and i'm still not even done with all the items i was hoping to display.

of course, i also have about 20 posters that i was hoping to frame and display. but now, after all the shelves and book cases that are holding all this stuff are mounted to the walls, i have almost no free wall space.

does anybody else have this problem? do you have too much stuff? what do you do with it all? should i just move out and get a bigger apartment??  ;D

Vintage Kenner / vintage palitoy figures
« on: June 12, 2004, 10:44 PM »
i took a quick look for something about this (but i'm a lazy bastard and made it real quick) and didn't see anything.

so, how do the prices on the vintage palitoy figures compare with the kenner ones? i have a vintage boba fett rotj 65 back on a palitoy card, or at least i think it's a palitoy card, because it doesn't have a kenner logo on the front, and the mail in offer on the back for a chewbacca bandolier has a uk address.

according to this site it's a 65d cardback.

Saga '02-'04 / modern release list in order?
« on: June 5, 2004, 11:11 AM »
anybody know where i can find a complete list of all modern figures from potf2 '95 to present in the order they were released? our figure checklists have them listed in alphabetical order, but i'm looking for a list that shows which figures were in the first wave of, say, the freeze frames, then the second wave, etc. etc.

and for the record, yes, i am that anal about displaying my figures  :-\

Watto's Junk Yard / hyperspace is now the fan club
« on: April 28, 2004, 07:25 PM »
anybody else catch this bit of news today? hyperspace and the fan club are merging, and both are going to be run directly by lucasfilm. good idea? bad idea?

merger

if you ask me, they did this because of lack of people who forked over the additional money for hyperspace. god knows that if i didn't win the membership in the jedi master points auctions, i wasn't about to pay for it. but guess what? now i don't have a choice.

thoughts?

Watto's Junk Yard / justiceforkurt.com
« on: April 6, 2004, 09:25 PM »
i just found a very interesting website... justice for kurt - which pretty much gives a good arguement for re-opening kurt cobain's "suicide" and giving some really good reasons that he might have been murdered instead... anybody have any theories on this? or thoughts?

Fooling around with my digital camera for a bit today, took a few pics of some of the stuff I have laying around the house. Not sure if I'll ever be "done" with my collection, 'cause I always seem to be moving certain things from place to place as I run out of room for certain parts of the collection. Most of these pics are from my back room, where I have my carded/loose figure collection. Click on the thumnails for larger versions.

First wall - carded POTF2 orange/green/shadows/expanded universe/freeze frame figures, and 3 cases of loose vintage:

I actually took a shot of the other 2 walls, which have my Episode 1/POTJ/Saga/OTC/VOTC figures on them, as well as another 10 of those cases housing my loose modern collection, but they came out way too dark. I'll have to try and take them tomorrow, maybe when the sun is up if I open the window a little and get some natural light to shine in they will come out a little better.

Closeups of the three loose vintage cases. The background logos were made by scanning some vintage cardbacks at high resolution, then breaking each image into 4 equal pieces so that they could be printed on my printer, and putting them back together on the background. My loose collection isn't 100% complete, but most of the figures are in great shape and have 99% original weapons. FAQ: No, that isn't a real rocket firing Boba Fett proto, I purchased that from Ryan (Bantha5) over at the RS forums - and it's great work. And No, that's not a real vinyl Cape Jawa - just a custom job I did a few years ago.

A few of my "exclusive" carded POTF2 figures - Toy Fair Vader, Silver Sandtrooper/Clone Trooper/Boba Fett/Darth Vader/R2-D2, Autographed Boba Fett, and Luke Jedi w/Brown vest, and then in the second pic: Darth Vader w/Luke Face Reveal Sticker (thanks Dale!!), Jorg Sacul, and Theater Edition Luke Jedi.

A few Clone Wars Prototype figures - Arc Trooper, Super Posable Clone, Obi-Wan, SaeSee Tiin, and Durge:

A shot of my Custom corner (in the back of my collection room) and my Toys R Us Episode 2 banner:

And a few new shots of my current Gentle Giant bust collection:

Whew. That's a lot of pictures, and a lot of updates. Enough for today. Maybe more tomorrow :)

OK, a few more pics of some various crap:

Action Fleet collection:

Imperial Army:

(just noticed that one of my ****** friends must have knocked down some of my troops. what a bunch of ********)

A few autographed pics:

I'm also a sucker for some Warner Brothers fine art. First is an Animaniacs storyboard autographed by the three voice actors, then a Marvin the Martian sericel, and finally one of my all time favorite pieces - a Marvin the Martian and K-9 watercolor print:

Above the watercolor I have a long shelf with some model kits and various other crap:

Then I have my book collection - or at least a part of it - and some other crap that sits on top of those bookcases and on the shelves in front of the books:

I also have a small Alien collection consisting mostly of busts, model kits and McFarlane stuff - along with the old Kenner 18" Alien missing his head dome :( :

And then my DVD/CD wall:

Well, that's enough for today.... enjoy!!
