Collector's Tips / Re: Displaying

To fix that Domino Effect that you mentioned I use the Poster Putty or Poster Tack stuff on the feet. It works great. I have found that the figures that have a bit of a recessed bottom (Everything after the Orange Cards) it works better on than the original Orange Carded figures. The poster putty hides well and is veirtually unnoticable unless you have to use a lot of it to keep the figure standing up. I have also found that it works well to help figures hold onto their accessories, or keep hats/hemlets that dont fit over the hold head in place.

Good idea. I'd probably worry about the putty taking paint off, though. :(

I didn't get to measure these things last night. Try to do it this evening. Also, FYI, I think they run about $7 at Wally's.

I must say, Derek, those stepped shelves are incredible.  Those are exactly what I'd like!  Are those the Expand-A-Shelves you are referring to?  I'm not familiar with them.  Please, tell me more!

Yeah, they're Expand-A-Shelf organizers for kitchen cupboards, I guess. They're sold in Housewares at Walmart. You find several different kinds on Google. It's just a little plastic staircase with adjustable width. It sort of telescopes, ya know? I love the way the figs display on them. :) Just wish I could do a better job pegging them. I'll measure them in a sec, so I can post the dimensions.

BTW, call me "Ook". Even if you meet at a con or something. I like it. :D

BTW, that about takes care of it for me. All I want that I missed is the Medical Droid. There are a few I'm considering. Aside from that, I need a good Anakin and Obi-wan, but I haven't decided which to get. Haven't been impressed with them so far. Could use a Mace, too, as the only one I have is the original preview one. But I'm not too sure about the one that's out. Might hold off, and see what else comes out for those 3 guys.

After the current figs, what I'm looking forward to is the Mon Cal and Gran senators, the Wookiee and Neimoidian warrior.

Hey Ook.  Does you display of loose figures have pegholes?  Or are they just standing there?

Most of them are just standing. And yes, they do fall from time to time. :-\ I go bat**** insane when the domino effect kicks in.

On one of those "Expand-A-Shelf" deals, though, I did drill holes for Ultarama pegs. It's not working out too well, though. Some of the holes are too big. Others are too small. Most are probably crooked... My ideal display for 3¾" would be tiered units like this with pegs for support. Ultaramas are no good for me, because only the front row of figs would show. I like them on steps like this. But I'd probably need a drill press to get the things drilled straight and uniformly.

Whaaaaat? I missed you yelling at me at Comic Con?! Wait... What were you calling me? Ook? Well, we'll have to meet this year. Have you mentioned this to me, online, before? I don't remember this at all...

Indeed I have, Derek.  We discussed it right after Comic Con last year, either in the Comic Con thread, the Forum Members You've Met thread, or via PM.  Don't recall now.  But yeah, I remembered your pic from here, and I saw you across the GG tables as they were announcing the winning lottery numbers.  I was on the opposite/far side from you, and it was pretty loud, but I kept shouting OOK!!! at you.  You actually heard it, 'cause each time I yelled it, you'd look up, and around.  But you never quite caught site of me.  Oh well.  We'll take another stab at it in a few months...

Not surprising, actually. My memory is worthless.

LMAO! I just immagined Matt yelling "Ook! Ook!" over and over again like a fool in front of a crowd of people.

Wow...

Kevin

Haw haw. :D
