Thor I think I can live with the bearded version though non-beard wise I think that first one's sculpt is way better than later versions.  Is the bearded version the

Yes, the Bearded version is the.   ;)

Justin, I long ago sold off my variants of Iron Man, sorry.

Oh well, worth a shot.  I gave up trying to actively find these long ago, but whenever I hear about someone selling off their collection I still feel obligated to ask.  Any chance you have a phasing vision you want to get rid of?  ;)

Easily one the very best figures to be released in the Legacy line.  I can't wait for this figure (or the rest of the wave for that matter!)

Found Series 2 Marvel 3.75" figures yesterday at a Wal-Mart here in Minnesota (Bloomington store).  All they had were: figure #1 - Spiderman and figure #2 - Wolverine.  The weird thing was they had 4-5 of each one, so I don't know if they had multiple cases or what or if the figures pictured on the back of the cards are even out yet.  I had not heard Series 2 was even coming out, so I was very surprised. :o

These must have hit all over in the past few days.  BP had the upside down spiderman and MG had two of the yellow/blue Wolverines as well.  Both had silver centurian Iron Man as well, but no sign of the rest of the wave.

The Legacy Collection / Re: 2009: Worst Distribution Year Ever?

As has been said a few times already, the pile up of waves is probably more due to factory time with all of GI Joe and Transformers taking precedence over anything Star Wars.  How little Marvel stuff has been new for the same amount of time?  Even worse than SW

I think that's a totally fair assessment.  If so, I'd still blame Hasbro for making that decision - I wouldn't go away from my bread and butter to make way for a new line, even if it is supported by a movie.  None of that stuff sells as well as Star Wars.  That just further shows that the economy excuse is a cop out.

I think just blaming the economy is pretty simplistic.  I'm sure that many stores are seeing fewer sales and blaming the economy.  That in turn leads to fewer reorders and the distribution problem sprials downward.  However, when there's no new Legacy product for 4 months, there's obviously going to be lower sales, so blaming the economy is a cop out.  I'm sure the 4 old figures that were released a year prior made it seem like stores weren't completely out of inventory, but you can't sell what's not there.

Ah, I did misunderstand.  Here's what I would go with Brent:

Captain America: Toybiz Series 1 (I think the F-O version looks like he's a hunchback)
Original Thor: WM Exclusive Giant Man wave (I like the Marvel Select new look better though)
Iron Man: For me it's a tie between Series 1 Red and Gold and the S8 Silver Centurian.

From other conversations in this thread, I think Target's DC to shelf distribution is better suited/monitored to hold items back until the 11th hour.  I'd bet they start getting their stuff in about a week prior to Black Friday - that will be the time to hunt for them if you want to use the DPCI mind trick.  To Jeff's point, that has been their MO the past few years.

Not sure that I recall Wal-Mart doing anything like that.  Maybe they are holding back comic packs or other exclusives, but I think they tend to just put things out on the shelves with less discipline.  That's why we see AT-ST's stocked in the middle of a Sporting Goods aisle.  They are certainly timing their exclusives for November, but probably hoping to capitalize on both the early rush and the post Thanksgiving demand by getting their stuff out now.

Iron Man is still my favorite of the three.  That Series 1 version is just sweet – I like it better than most of the follow-up releases and the IM Movie line.  The W8 Silver Centurian is the only one I think is comparable.  If you have either of the S1 Iron Man variants (pointed mask or stealth) and want to get rid of them, please let me know.  I’ve been jonesing for those for some time now!

Thor and Cap are both great too.  I think Cap is more popular, but they rereleased that wave here with a gold foil back instead of the comic, so his production count is probably higher.  Not sure which one you’d get more money for, but I bet you could sell either for $20ish or more.  Are you asking just for curiosity or are you trying to decide which to keep?

Looks like I should have gone with Holmes over Sproles... that's the one that would have meant a win.

Oh well.

Yeah, that was a close one.  I won't make the mistake of playing Knox again though - I could have gotten more points starting Seattle's back-up runningback.   ::)

I did some searching around and see some notices from August.  That said, I found several posts of people that were ordering and getting stuff over the last month, so hopefully that's a good sign.   :-\

*EDIT*

Just got an email from Toyrocket regarding the removal of their pre-order items from the site.

"Thank you for your inquiry. We took all pre-orders off the website because, due to the nature of our red tag sale, we will not be taking any further pre-orders."

They may be liquidating, but the fact that they do have some new stuff coming in makes me think it might just be a reorg under new management.  I at least feel better that I got a response to my email!

Yeah... I had a few more bad bounces this week... Brandon Jacobs stopped on the 1 and the Giants holding penalty took them back to the 15...  Starting Calvin Johnson instead of Holmes... I could have made it two points closer by starting Cadillac (I would have lost by 0.02)... bad decisions cost me a close one.

Tell me about it.  I should have started Cutler instead of Palmer and then I wouldn't be praying for Ward to get H1N1 prior to tonight's game.

Based on that TD, I'm guessing those prayers went unanswered...

I'd be careful on ordering from Toy Rocket as I hear they have or will be filing Chapter 11.

That is definitely not what I was hoping to hear.   >:(  Where did you hear that?

Maybe he'll get ejected early for punching someone.

Not gonna happen - For some freak injury or ejection to happen, he'd have to be on my squad this year.

Would you care for some cheese with your whine?   :-*

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: TRU "Hoth Patrol" Battle Pack
« on: November 9, 2009, 01:38 PM »
I am so excited to not even want a clearance version of this.  hooray!

Funny that I made this comment about the TRU Hoth Patrol battlepack and now own one of these.   ::)  I'm looking for a definiteive guide on what's new about these vs. the original releases.  Anyone know of a good resource?  Rebelscum and Yakface didn't have anything*.  AP's report seems to indicate the wampa is just a repaint.  Not sure if the Taun Taun matches the one from the Battle of Hoth Battle Pack and Luke seems like some kind of kit-bash.

*Your recent inquiry motivated me to track this BP down so I can see the differences for myself and the guide will be updated accordingly.  :P

Sweet.  Let me know if you need the loose figures fromt eh pack - I just opened it about a week ago.

I checked them out yesterday and couldn't find a single new carded Legacy figure.

I'm guessing they are sold out now, since they were offering $5 per figure the last several days.   ;)
