Saw the Lego Movie 2 also. I noticed this is the second animated movie (after Wreck it Ralph 2) wherein the villain is the manifested insecurities of the male protagonist. When did manhood become toxic?

Right around 2014.
Climbed a mountain & never came back. I will not quit & I always fight back
From this moment for all my life. What could I say? Was born to be this way. And what could I say?  Just livin' for today

Finally caught the new Godzilla last night. I liked it fine, appreciated some of the callbacks to the classic films, like using “Monster Zero” and some aspects of the original score in certain scenes. As always, could have been more monsters fighting other monsters, but on the plus side, no cheesy love story subplots to slow things down.

Kong v Godzilla should be good too!

I saw Joker Saturday night.  Like Solo: A Star Wars story, it was a movie I didn't been Hollywood to make, but completely enjoyed it!

I saw Ed Asner Ad Astra and in twernt bad considering I never much liked Brad Pitt...actually he's gotten better as he got older, less of those cool guy roles and more burnt out cool guy roles.

I saw Ad Astra last week and hated it.  Characters are only there to move a non-existent plot forward.

Brad Pitt has been a great actor going all the way back to "Seven".

There's a lot of great actors in Ad Astra...but that cannot save poor writing.

I admit the psycho-babble tests and such got a bit annoying.  I saw it as the plot existed to frame comparisons between Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones's characters. Honestly, serious science fiction movies are usually more miss than hit for me, because it's like they HAVE to be about something else to prove they are serious (Ad Astra is no different) to the point they live and die or that. Like ANNIHILATION...the premise was interesting, but how it was carried out was more about a metaphor for relationships and such. (Also, why did they'd approach from sea?) Interstellar, was really about a father and his daughter...GAG. (It was okay.) And CONTACT...faith vs science. I loathed that one.  2001...no one knows what that **** about. They do they are lying. Magic rocks that turns people into space babies. That's LSD crap. LOL

Let me know if you want an in-depth synopsis of 2001.  I love that movie!

Here's a short list of Science Fiction movies that tell their story much better than Ad Astra:

- Interstellar
- Europe Report
- Sunshine

I know there's more, these are just off the top of m head.

Admittedly I wanted to love it and Joker did not disappoint. I thought it was brilliant.

Recently saw both Ford vs. Ferrari and Knives Out.  Thought both were great.  Both Damon and Bale were fantastic in their roles.  I found it interesting that they did not mention Rian Johnson at all in any of the advertisements for Knives Out ahead of its release.  Was happy to see him rebound from TLJ with a strong film.

I saw Terminator Dark Fate couple of weeks ago. Not as bad as the internet hate machine made it out to be. I'd rate it average entertainment. On the other hand, it really doesn't justify its existence anymore than Genysis did.  The franchise should've stopped after T2.

Saw Uncut Gems over the weekend... or at least half of it, as we wound up walking out of the theater. It's that bad. Unless you're a fan of background noise with Adam Sandler and other people raising their voices to talk over it, and nothing leading anywhere.

Saw Underwater. Any movie that kills off Kristen "old dead eyes" Steward is good in my book.
