Anyone seen this?
http://www.katoots.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26120
Looking mighty fine!!
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/neoconvoy/wcc20-03.jpg)
Indeed. It'll look pretty damned sweet next to the corresponding RAH Vader, for sure. But if you don't mind Hemish, I'm going to move this post over into the 12" figure section, since that's where some folks prefer to discuss Medicom's Real Action Hero Line, since it's pretty similar to Hasbro's 12" scale...
Kudos to Slave1 for coming through with that sweet picture there! 8)
-
It shall be mine, mine I say!
-
This looks great! I'm assuming the Stormtrooper will have the same incredible articulation as the Darth Vader, so this may be the new "gotta have" line... :o
(PS. Thanks for the info Hemish! I added this news to our front page and thanked you for pointing it out. :))
-
How tall are these Medicom figures? If they are 12 inches, I know I'll be suckered into having them, like the Marmit figures.

They are 12".
I saw the Luke at Toy Fair and loved it, but didn`t get one.
When they annouced the Vader, I had to do get that one.
Now the Stormie, and if they do a Fett...I`m in for that as well.
-
Why do they rob me blind?!? Well, that's a good testimonial. Time for some more online shopping...
-
It just looks so cool.
Nothing is outta scale or anything, compare that to a hasbro 12" Stormie and the difference is ridiculous.
Anyone know the prices on this line the guys at katoots were talking $200-250 not sure if they were talking Singapore dollars or US.
Things like this make it very easy to leave the Hasbro stuff alone.
-
The shoulder armor looks off so I'm not as excited as I should be. I'm sure once I see more pictures and different poses, I'll be preordering asap but for now...I dunno....it looks like Hasbro had a hand in it. :-\

Not even in the same boat really are they??
Hasbro - Medicom

I have seen the Vader and Luke around $180 on eBay, bit higher in some online
stores.
I think Toy Tokyo had the Vader at around 160 or so.
-

HUGE difference there!
Of course $20 for the Hasbro and $180 for the Medicom is also a big difference ;D
I don`t have too many 12", so I don`t mind spending the extra for something well
made like these.
The Metal Gear Solid RAH figs they did are awesome too, as well as Venom and
Cyclops, but I gotta stick to just SW with these....I hope...
-
Jesus, whoever this company is - they do a stand up job with these figures.
That ****** stormtrooper looks like a lifesize prop...as does the Vader. Now I'm seriously thinking of buying the Vader again, if only to complement the stormie.
But on the flipside, 400 bones for two 12" figures is a little steep for my liking - that's close to 67 standard figures.
-
Very cool looking. I have the Luke (btw...what's up with that pose on the Luke off to the right....it looks like he's about to drop a deuce!), and I have a Vader pre-ordered (should be here soon!).
The quality is amazing on these....I'm thinking that stormtrooper is a must have! How about an Obi-Wan in the future Medicom?!
-
Jesus, whoever this company is - they do a stand up job with these figures.
Medicom is without a doubt one of the absolute best SW licensees out there. They really "get it" when it comes to the saga, and the collectibles therefrom. Their Kubrick line is a prime example. Only problem is - they're a Japanese company. So getting their stuff can be pretty tricky sometimes, and often rather expensive. But it's usually worth it based on their incredible quality.
As for the Vader and Stormtrooper "figures" here, I wholeheartedly agree that they both look breathtaking. The shiny Stormtrooper armor does indeed make it look like a real, life-sized prop. I do agree with Beth just a bit that the shoulder piece looks a little off, but that may change later, or my brain may be a little off. I dunno. Incredible work though, but I doubt I'm going to be willing to toss down $400 for the two of them though.
I'm sure Boba Fett's gonna be next up for the RAH line here, so that's going to make it even more difficult to refrain from taking the bait... :-\
-
Man, I was so impressed with the Hasbro OTC 12" Stormtrooper (I was comparing it to the Collector's Series 12" Stormtrooper), but after seeing that comparo shot above, I can hardly believe it! I still like my OTC Stormie, but that other Stormtrooper is beyond incredible! :o
If I wasn't planning on picking up the Gentle Giant Speeder Bike w/Scout, I would definitely purchase that Stormie!
-

Man, tell me about it. A Medicom Fett would definitely kick ass. Did you break down and buy the Vader and/or Stormie yet?
-
I watched Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi while on alert and I think those shoulder pieces are fairly accurate on the Medicom Stormtrooper. :)

Yowza!
Any 12" figure that looks this good and poses this well, you gotta love it.

Thanks for heads up, sithbaker - I had to mention this on the front page. 8)
-
The pic that has just his chest & head, you could almost pass for an
actor in armor. This thing looks AMAZING!
Can`t wait for this sucker to come out. I`m guessing November maybe.
-
Would someone please make these things go away...? Please?
God, they're killin' me with this brilliance. But there's just no way I can allow myself to get sucked into this line, even if it's just to pick up a Vader, Stormie, and (future) Boba. I sure wish I could though. These things are really amazing...
Thanks for the pix, Adam! 8)
-
Holy crap!! I actually thought it WAS someone in costume!!
I might have to start selling off my Barbie collection, this line is just too sweet to pass up!!

They do look awesome. I saw Luke at Toy Fair, and few other RAH (like the MGS ones), they all look amazing. They are making a Batman too...

Thats no Toy !!!
Thats an actor in a suit!!!!
Dam thats awesome !!!!

-
This is awesome so where do I get one and how much cause it kicks a$$ and it needs to be in my collection.
-
anyone buying 2 to place them behind vader?
I am considering it. I`ll have to see where my wallet stands after series 5 kubs though...
I would love about 10 of them though!
-

These run anywhere from 160 to 200 bucks, depending where you order.
A lot of the overseas online shops are cheaper, but then you get killed with
shipping.
I know Toy Tokyo in NY had the Vader up for pre-order, as did Ningyoushi.com.
Toy Tokyo had the Jedi Luke at Toy Fair showing it off.
-
So these are only in Japan? and if I were too order one online any suggestions on who too deal with.

I`ve really onl dealt with Toy Tokyo and Ningyoushi, so maybe some of the
others here can chime in.
Maybe check out the kubrick thread for reputable online stores as well.
DSJ and a few others should be able to help ya out.
Adam

HLJ is a good company, though I honestly haven't looked for Medicom stuff like this. The shipping is fair and pretty reasonable and quick as they get it.

Ah, same as the Spiderman, huh? Steal Medicoms pics, put his water mark
on them and then tell you not to steal them, lol.
I`m bidding on a RAH Luke, and the guy says in his auction that it was limited
to 500! We know there were more than that. I have bought from the guy before,
so I really think he was just mis-informed when he bought it.
-
This is the same dealer I'm getting my Medicom Vader through. Although their production numbers are way off, I think their prices are fair.

Might want to wait a bit and see if Toy Tokyo is getting these in.
They had Vader for 159, and they are in the US, so shipping was
better.
-
Got a link for them Sithbaker?

I don`t see the Vader since they did the big site redesign though.
But over at Kubrick World there is/was a thread about the Vader.
http://www.ningyoushi.com
They have the Vader listed for 205 or so. High priced, but custerm
service is good there, I have gotten a few things from them (like Logray Kub)
-
I just wish I had the money to purchase one but with the price with collectibles from over seas. I will never be able to afford that kind of star wars collectible.
-
One thing perturbs me- I gather they’re using the same RAH body for both the Vader and Trooper… isn’t that a little short for the Sith Lord? they are still totally worth it, but I wish they'd somehow altered the body height for Vader.
-
I think they are only doing that to make the vader figure cheaper. instead of creating a new figure mold.
-
Maybe, but for the price they are charging, they should be able to tool a new body for Vader. Especially given the fact that he will sell more units than say, MGS.
-
HLJ has the Stormtrooper up for pre-order. Early Bird special of 15,960 yen or about $143. US. You have till Aug 19th for the 5% of there regular cost of 16,800 yen or $152. US
1/6 Stormtrooper (http://www.hlj.com/product/MEDRAH-242)
-
I think you mean the 19th! :P
Great fig - I'm holding out for Sideshow...
-
Oopsy, I will correct that. :-[ :P
-
Oopsy, I will correct that. :-[ :P
RoBby still has it up for pre-order too, last I checked.
Worked out to about $100.00 US.
-
Website? ::)
-
http://www.robby.jp/en/
You have to sign up as a retailer to order from them, which is easy to do (I am the proud operator of Jesse's Toys and Collectibles ;)).
Once you're signed up, you can access the site. But you must be sure to pre-order by the booking deadline, which is Aug 22.
10,920 Yen, approx $99.55 US.
-
Website? ::)
Jesse covered it.
Also, they go on holiday soon for a few days, so if you don`t hear back quckly,
don`t worry. They`ll be back by the 15th if I recall correctly.
-
Wow! Sorry to check into this thread so late, but that stormie is amazing. I'm not so much into large scale stuff, but I make exceptions for Stormtroopers.
Now to talk to (beg) my wife....
-
These should be shipping soon!
Got an email from RoBby today that they will have them soon and be shipped
out shortly after that. Can`t wait!
-
This Stormtrooper is absolutely amazing. It actually makes the Vader look a bit crappy. It is absolutely flawless in my opinion. Here are some shots I took of it.

Great shots, Simon! I can't wait for mine to arrive!
It actually makes the Vader look a bit crappy.
Just curious, why do you say that? Is the Vader less articulated, or the sculpt less impressive?
-
i hate the box. :( there's no effort put into it at all..
anyway i find his head a bit big and his body long...
am i the only one who thinks that way? ???
but i do agree.. he's better than vader..
-
I can't put my finger on it. I guess it is because not everything sits properly on the Vader. I guess I need to play around with it a bit more.
-
You have to sign up as a retailer to order from them, which is easy to do (I am the proud operator of Jesse's Toys and Collectibles ;)).
You fiend! :o
-
Thanks for posting the pictures! I hope Sideshow makes one at least half as good as this one.
-
Here are some side by side shots of the RAH and the Marmit.
While the Marmit isn't nearly as posable as the RAH I think it looks better.
Maybe I'm biased because I own four Marmits and I bought RAH Vader and they look ridiculous together.
I'm willing to wait to see what Sideshow brings to the table before I rush out and buy one of these.

The RAH's helmet looks weird too. Compare with this prop replica:

Thanks for the pics....so all the Medicoms look good together.
-
Thanks for the pics....so all the Medicoms look good together.
I've got to disagree with you Matt.
If I'm going to shell out $200+ each for some figures they should be in scale at least to each other.
David Prowse who is 6'7" in the Vader suit was close to 7' tall.
Mark Hamill was 5' 8".
Stormtroopers were an average of 6'.
While Vader is taller than the Stromtrooper and the Stormtrooper is taller than Luke but the scale is pretty off.
This is because they are all based off of a the standard RAH 12" body which again for the cost is a real knock against the RAH line. Scale has always been a huge factor in the world of Star Wars right back to the original Kenner line.
-
I'm very tempted to pick up a Medicom Vader and Stormie now that they are hovering around the $110 price.
I honestly don't think Sideshow will get around to doing Vader or a stormtrooper because of the tooling involved.
-
I'm very tempted to pick up a Medicom Vader and Stormie now that they are hovering around the $110 price.
Me too. I ordered two the other day. For that price I couldn't pass it up. The next day the wife tells me (without knowing about my purchase mind you) "We're on a budget, no extra spending." I guess I'll try to keep it a secret and blend them in with my Marmits. ;)
As far as my opinions stated above, I've got to say after doing more research into the irregularity of the actual movie costumes, I feel I can welcome these guys into my collection taking on the role as "stunt men" for action poses, whereas the Marmits can just stand around and look good in neutral poses.
-
Just announced from Starwarsshop.com:
Stormtrooper Real Action Hero 12-Inch Figure
Our Price: $129.99
Ships Jan 29
Here's a link (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=405533&ReferrerID=CJADBN-00001)
Medicom is making great strides to reach the US buyers by distributing these through US companies, very smart if you ask me...
-
I'd like to know why Sideshow's website has the Marvel RAH figures for sale but not the SW ones...maybe there's an exclusion to their partnership that does not include SW 12" figures?
???
-

Probably, I think Medicom is real particular what they distribute and to whom. Since Sideshow already does their own 12" SW figures, either SS didn't want to sell the RAH ones to compete against their own or Medicom just simply didn't offer them the chance. Now that Medicom sees the sales potential here in the US, they will probably start offering all their SW products over here one way or another. I'm just curious if the SW Kubricks are next. They already distribute the Marvel, Alien, Batman and Bearbricks through Diamond so it's probably only a matter of time....
-
I'm glad I saw these comparison shots, I like the Medicom so much better, now I don't have to be tempted to buy the RAH one. Can't wait to see Sideshow's offering, that'll be the one I buy.
-
I like the Medicom so much better, now I don't have to be tempted to buy the RAH one.
RAH and Medicom are the same.
-
Ooops. :-[
Meant Marmit looks better that RAH.
-
I'm also tempted, but $129 is too much for me. Unless it was a 2-pack.
-
Just in case anyone wants to order the RAH version from Sideshow, it goes up for preorder tomrrow (Sept 29th) at 1:00pm EST. I have no idea of the price but I would assume close to the sws.com price of $130.00.
-
I am going to wait for Sideshwo to actually make some and skip out on this one.
