Good thing they decided to go into this half assed, its not like people have been asking for this for years or anything.

Half-assed? Is that what the H in Hasbro stands for? I understand cost cutting procedures when necessary, and so far I won't judge on the Jabba, but as always they do things half-assed where it isnt warranted and where precedent has been set for a full-assed job. One day perhaps they will see the light...

Vintage Kenner / Re: Mysterious Vintage @ Amazon?
« on: September 21, 2003, 12:05 AM »
doing a quick google search on the company DISTRIBUTOYS, INC a Chicagoland based company which is listed as the "manufacturer" of the figures it appears that they are a distributor of supplies to toy manufacturers as well as a wholesaler of assorted items including toys and books with previous items for sale on amazon. the likely scenario is that they came across a large amount of loose vintage figures and are more than willing to sell em via amazon as they can set their own price. take note at the good guys collection, they have only 10 sets available which certainly indicates that they are of a limited supply. these must be originals as well if this sale is to continue and if they were repros hasbro and lfl would be all over them like syrup and pancakes.  though at the sametime they never mention if the weapons/accessories that come with the figures are original or repro so that could be iffy right there. but its an interesting concept for sure, but $30 for a jedi luke, c-3p0 and rebel soldier is a bit stretching when u can get all 3 easily for half that on ebay

And...Contra, oh man how many games of Contra did I play?
Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start

I will never forget that

wasn't it Select then Start? its been so long, I might be wrong.

I got my NES during the tail run of its lifespan, I got it when Super Mario 3 had just came out. Got my NES w/ SMB3 and Metal Gear. Metal Gear was one of the hardest games ever, I never could figure out what I was to do, it so stunk! :P Some classics have already been mentioned like Mega Man, Contra, Tecmo Bowl,  but here's a couple more to add Metroid, RBI Baseball, Excitebike, and Double Dragon. Ahh good times, good times. Alas my NES got sold along with my Genesis, SNES, and Gameboy when I went to college. But thanks to the wonderful world of emulators, life goes on :)

What was the name of the dancer that Mara Jade posed as in Jabba's Palace during the rescue of Han Solo in ROTJ?

Collections / Re: How do you display?
« on: September 18, 2003, 10:20 PM »
I tend to display my toys in diorama form and as such I mix vintage and modern up to get as good as an effect on the diorama as possible. Certainly the mixing of the two can seem odd to outsiders, but I've grown quite fond of the setup. Here's a few pics from my website to illustrate my display habits. I need to get new pics up some day, these aren't the best pics and some changes have gone thru, especially in the Jabba's Palace :P

I like your army builder idea Jason...

I would actually reverse my opinion on these if Stormtroopers, Red Battledroids, Army Builder 3-packs, or the Imperial 4-pack were put up on auction in grand #'s.

I'd just sink every point I have into army builders if that were the case.

Stormie 4-packs go up?  Bam there'd go the vast majority of my points I think. :)

Much better than these lame things like Silver figures or Saculs...  Blah.

I'd be just like you JJ, all over as many Army builders as I could get. These are top priority for me and I so hope Hasbro is listening and will give us CT Stormies, Imp Officers, Red BD's, etc.

dusthro: yeah thats how i see it too. back in the day hasbro and kenner would ask kids to buy 2 to 4 figs at retail to be able to get a special figure by mail, so logic dictates that the same should be said for today. then again, logic isn't how you spell hasbro  ;)

screw figures that only obsessive fanboys with 100,000 points will get.

I want hasbro to offer us 'lower' collectors sets of 5 stands like the ones in the TRU 4-packs for maybe 100-200 points each or something...

i think for 100-200 points we should easily be able to get a nice army builder figure. that kinda JMP cost equates to buying 10-20 action figures, for having bought that many figures we should be able to get at least an action figure in this auction. keyword being should...   ???

Harrison Ford also had a small role in Apocolyps Now, Air FOrce One,Reguarding Henry, What Lies Beneath, The Fugative,......
------------
He also had a substantial role in Force 10 From Navarone. And I can't believe no one mentioned Blade Runner :)

And I can't believe no one's mentioned Harrison in Lucas' famous flick that paved the way the entire Star Wars franchise - American Graffiti!

some neat figs there, some could be quite useful for parts, others i'm not so sure about, but for a buck a piece they look fun to play with.
