Hall of Justice / DC Universe Classics Wave 17
« on: December 22, 2010, 07:36 PM »
Wave 17 has been revealed.

http://www.dccollectoruniverse.com/2010/12/dc-universe-classics-wave-17-revealed-rainbow-lanterns/

The series looks good enough, but DC Direct either has recently released or will soon release every figure here with the exception of Anti-Monitor.  I have a feeling these aren't going to be flying off the shelves.

Other Toy Lines / How do you display varying sized figures?
« on: November 8, 2009, 05:21 PM »
OK, I keep going back and forth so I thought I'd bring this up as a topic of discussion.  When it comes to Marvel and DC, I collect the gamut when it comes to sizes.  I limit the characters I collect (females for Marvel, females and Batman villains for DC) but I have the small stuff like the Infinite Heroes and Marvel Universe and also items as tall as the 13" DC Direct figures, Marvel Icons and even Comiquettes for Marvel.  I can't seem to find the right display combinations though.  At first I displayed by character, but I didn't like having the larger items with the smaller items.  I then went by series/size, but when I did that I got a few characters or lines that only had one or two examples and they seemed disconnected from the rest of the display.

One thing I have determined is that I don't like mixing statues and action figures for the most part.  If it's a larger line (like the Women of the DC Universe busts or Marvel Comiquettes) I group them by series, then one-offs or smaller lines I do by character.  That seems to work pretty well.  I'm trying to get a good balance with figures, try different things out and see what I like, but in the meantime I thought I'd see what other people that collect varying sized figures did.

Other Toy Lines / Defining points of articulation
« on: October 17, 2009, 12:35 AM »
OK, here's a question I've been wanting to ask for a while but never got around to.  And this post could probably go in a number of forums, but I figure here's as good as anything.  :)  I'm wondering how others define points of articulation when it comes to dual-movement joints.  As an example, I'm looking at an Iron Man figure from the MU line.  Here's how I figure it:

Head - ball joint, so one point.
Shoulders - swivel + hinge, so two points each.
Elbow - swivel + hinge, so two points each.
Wrists/gauntlets - swivel, one point each.
Torso - ball joint, one point
Hips - ball joint, one point each
Knees - swivel + joint, two points each
Ankles - swivel + joint, two points each

So if I'm figuring right, I'd say the MU Iron Man figures (Stealth, Silver, etc) have 22 points of articulation.  I guess my primary question is, if it's a swivel-hinge do you consider it one point or two points?

Other Toy Lines / Busts & Statues from non-Star Wars lines
« on: September 9, 2009, 09:35 AM »
I didn't see a thread out there covering this subject (except a Bowen Marvel thread from a few years ago), so I thought I'd start a new one.  Mods, if there is one out there, feel free to point me in the right direction and kill this post.

Just wondering who else out there gets into non-SW busts and statues.  I've always had a keen interest in Sideshow's Marvel stuff but never really jumped into it until recently.  Being a primarily female character collector I have the Rogue and Black Cat Comiquettes and just recently got the Black Queen.  The stuff they do off of Hughes' work is incredible.

I also just got into the Women/Cover Girls of the DC Universe busts and statues from DC Direct.  I have a few of the busts (Starfire, Power Girl, Zatanna, and I have Supergirl on the way) but just got my first statue - Zatanna - last week.  Quite a piece of work, and I'm pretty certain my next purchase will be the first statue from that series (Wonder Woman).  Basically Adam Hughes' work is killing my wallet right now.

I used to have all of the Alien stuff from Palisades but unloaded it when I unloaded my Alien collection a few years ago.  Kind of wish I still had those though, despite a couple of issues with breakage.

The Bullpen / Marvel Universe Ares Wave (Wal-Mart)
« on: October 7, 2008, 04:15 PM »
Found the Ares wave (most of it) at a KC Wal Mart.  They were only $10.44....freakin' sweet.  :)  No Crossbones, Guardian or Vision but I did get the rest including the Human Torch variant.  Good looking wave, though I was most looking forward to Vision.

Other Toy Lines / Sideshow's Premium Format
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:05 PM »
I didn't see a thread about these, so sorry if it's a duplicate.  Anyone here into Sideshow's Premium Format scale?  I first saw them in person at C3, then saw many more at Toy Fair 2007 and went ga-ga over a few.  It wasn't until recently that I finally ordered my first one though - the Red Skull.  It ships in a few months and I can't wait to have it in hand.  I'm strongly considering the Hellboy II PF figure, and seeing the Mystique (albeit just a small shot on Sideshow's Production Blog page) I don't think I'll be able to pass it up.  :)

Just wondering who's acquired any of the PF figs, and what your impressions of them are.

Watto's Junk Yard / A good free/cheap GIF Animator?
« on: May 16, 2008, 04:47 PM »
Anyone have experience with a good free (or at least really cheap) GIF Animator program?  I was using Ulead, but my trial expired and I don't use it enough to pony up $50 for it.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Vintage Trading and Classifieds / SOLD
« on: April 5, 2008, 05:03 PM »
I have a MOC Hollow Tube Tusken Raider on a 65-back ROTJ card for sale.  The card shows a bit of wear around the edges and some scuffing on the back side.  The bubble is slightly yellowed and shows a little scuffing.  The POP has been removed.  The figure itself is factory sealed and of course in awesome shape.  Here are a couple of pics:

http://www.toytraderz.com/coppermine/thumbnails/album=68.html

The card may not be beautiful but these are hard enough to find as it is, particularly sealed.  If anything it gives you a mint loose figure or an uncirculated AFA grade.  Asking $150 shipped anywhere in the world OBO.  Please PM or e-mail if interested.  Thanks!

Modern Trading / FT McQuarrie Snowtrooper/WTB McStarkiller & Malak
« on: October 6, 2007, 09:01 PM »
I have two McQuarrie Snowtroopers for trade.  They're both MOC though one has a *very* minimal ding on the very top of the bubble.  I'm looking for the following MOC figures in a 1-to-1 trade:

Darth Malak (priority!)
McQuarrie Starkiller (priority!)
UGH McQuarrie Stormtrooper
UGH Han Solo
UGH Luke Skywalker

I'd really like to trade for the first two if at all possible or will happily simply purchase the two.  Please PM or e-mail if interested in trading or if you have Starkiller & Malak for sale.  Thanks!

Vintage Kenner / The Vintage Star Wars Card Offer Grid
« on: April 14, 2007, 11:07 PM »
Hey folks.  I just wanted to let you all know about a little feature that we've worked on at ToyTraderz that I think you'll all like.  It's the Vintage Star Wars Card Offer Grid...basically a big grid of each figure and each card offer that it might come on.  Here's a little preview:

Each of the images then clicks into a larger image.  This is something I've been wanting to do for ages but never had the resources for image-wise.  Thanks to various members of ToyTraderz and Cloud City Collectibles, it's well on its way.  As of now we have around 250 images, and we have more coming in from various sources.  Anyway, I thought some of you would enjoy seeing it.  Hope you like it.  :)
