Saga Collection '06 / Re: Collection Losses
« on: June 20, 2006, 02:03 PM »
I remember losing Yoda's cane back '85 or something  :-[. Apparently it got sucked in by the vacuum cleaner. My mom even turned the whole thing inside out, but the Lost Cane was never seen again...

And I lost some more vintage weapons, like both pikes of my two Royal Guards. They broke in two and glueing didn't work.

Thanks KF. Making the removable helmet feature was great to do! Too bad clones with heads (AT-TE Gunners, Evo Clones) are still quite expensive for me, but I'm confident prices will drop eventually.

I've seen your work as well. I visited your website when dealing with Jon from customcards.co.uk. I was totally blown away by your 'Buggs Bunny Fett' figure! Plus, your Mandolorians are excellent customs too!

Thanks for the nice comments Dimetrodon  :).

Indeed, the Snowtrooper's backpack is upside down, but the Galactic Marines' backpacks are very different from those. I don't have the material to cast parts, so I just decided to use what I had.

For future Marines I think I will use the backpack that came with POTJ Cold Weather Obi-Wan.

Might as well add my first ever custom as well: the Galactic Marine (with bulb-neck). I had tons of fun trying out this new hobby (because that's what it is now). I didn't really look for tips and clues, but the fellas at TheJawa helped me out big time with their advice.

I had the most fun in just figuring out how one thing would fit on another. What if I sanded some more of this part, or if I turned it upside down. You know, just go along the way.

I like the often used [username]'s customs idea for threads, so I renamed my earlier thread.

Here is my second custom figure (which came before that Marine I posted). Some members from theJawa already know the background story for this one, but I'll be glad to share it here also.

Apart from being a huge SW fan, I'm also highly interested in Formula One races. Last year during the Monaco GP (in May), George Lucas used that venue as part of his ROTS campaign. He made a deal with the Red Bull Racing Team to promote his film on their cars and crew. The crew were donned in Stormtrooper-like jumpsuits and their helmets were altered as well. An ideal project for me, being fan of both worlds.

So, here are the pics, as well as one with a visor-equiped helmet.

Shells.... now that's very creative. Wow, that would really lift Tarful to unreachable heights!!

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: GALACTIC MARINES IN '07!
« on: June 18, 2006, 03:09 PM »
If Hasbro's version is as good as Owen's or Incom's Galactic Marine, I'll be sure to buy a few!

Thanks for the praise D_N, but I'm still a bit down because of the total and utter inaccuracy my Marines have, compared to the 3D Sith Snapshot  :(

Yes Incom, that was me in THIS POST.  I'd like to get SOME recognition for that one. ;D

The senate recognizes Nicklab, a.k.a. Nick@thejawa, a.k.a. 'someone'!!   ;)

About that 2-pack Evo idea, I think it's kinda cool, but a lot of us would be stuck with TONS of extra snowtroopers! ;)

No problem, there's no such thing as too many Snowtroopers. Too many puppies, yes, but too many Snowtroopers... no.

Over at TheJawa someone suggested making two packs. Something like 2/3 evolutions. So it'd be a white clone/ST, BARC Trooper/Biker Scout, Snowtrooper/Galactic Marine.

Of course, living in Holland, my luck will run out. I won't be able to buy them in time, have to resort on eBay, better wait 5 years till prices have dropped and then score some beat up near vintage Galactic Marines.... And I'm being optimistic  ;D

I'm with you though: Hasbro better not mess this one up, like they usually do so well. So no ' action features'  like blowing-in-the-wind face mask or a neat Bacara's rifle laser flash reflection kinda thing. No, full SA, softgoods and removable helmets please.  :)

Wow! I recently received some ROTS Wookiee Warriors and Yarua and thought they were big fellas. But Tarful.... holy $#&*! He's terrifyingly terrific!!

You might as well paint Gree, while you're at it. Doesn't matter what colour, any scheme is better than what Hasbro did with him.

You should have Tarful manhandle a Magnaguard and post a pic, just like in the Repbluc Commando game  ;D

Ya can't have enough bareness when it comes to ladies  ;D, except for Gardulla the Hutt, that is  :-\.

The Fe-Mando (perhaps make an anagram out of this for her name?) looks great! How did you go about making this figure?

That's nice to know D_E! But remember to use the Snowtrooper's armor instead of the Commander's. Here's why....

Nope, no trouble at all. The Clone Pilot has a waist with a belt cast onto it. It's one piece. I used my dremel to cut off that belt. The Clone Commander, as you probably know, has a smaller hip area where his kama/belt is located. I cut that off as well, just below the pelvis area. The Commander's pelvis is actually smaller then the Pilot's area, but the belt makes up for that. Reading this, it doesn't make sense to me, but I hope you get the picture.... a bit  ;D

Wow, what was the reason they put that 3D model up at the official site? A design for an action figure??

On the other hand, now I have to redesign my future custom Marines. Finally we get to see the chest armor, which indeed resembles more of the Snowtroopers' armor than that of the clones'. I bow my head to Sentinel at the Wampa's Cave in a very humble way.  :)
