I've been hitting the ones near me and short of Leia and Obi-Wan, I haven't seen much since I found R2/3PO & Chewie one day a while back.

I'll keep checking though and get extras of stuff I know (or think) that people actually want.

Well if it's the TE Gunner I'll be in the column that won't build too huge of a 501st army actually.  I'm with those of you that feel it's generally inferior to the other two Clone Trooper sculpts.

That's not to say I completely dislike it... I have 2 in my little set-up right now and they're nice, and I'd buy some more, but I prefer the greater articulation of the two other sculpts to the lacking waist and arm articulation of the TE Gunner.  I'm hoping for the Super Articulated Sculpt (but with a rifle pack-in over the carbine).  Play the wait and see game I guess.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Captain Antilles

I now expect a nude Padme to pop up on Ebay with that...   ::)

I'm sticking with them being two unique Antilles as well jay...  I'm hearing the intention was that this guy was to be played by Dennis Lawson (throwing EU completely off and making Wedge an Alderaanian) but Lawson bowed out...  And then I've heard it was an intent that they'd be the same guy (ANH and ROTS) but there's clear physical evidence they're not the same guy...  Colton and Raymus sounds fine to me.

Standardizing articulation would be tough with figures like Senators and stuff mixed in there.  Those long robed guys cause a problem, but I don't see why Organa's articulation couldn't have been met on this figure.  It's not super articulation but it'd give him knee joints and stuff.  Hell if he was that good I'd have bought a couple to create some Alderaanian Guards/military actually.

He's one of the only figs in these latest waves that I'd say is pegwarming, though I am seeing the other two from his wave sit a bit more.  Some less than interesting figures mixed in there.

EDIT:

Clones are coming soon by the way...  Reviews are done but we've got a schedule we're keeping to pretty well right now.  Keep your eyes peeled though!  Thanks for the thoughts you guys shared. :)

I remember this too DB and it's really nice...  I'm impressed with the authentic look that came from using actual materials...  What problems did you incur making it?  Like does it shrink as the wood dried out over time or anything?  Did you try any way to preserve the wood for instance?

Does it shoot too?  I'm curious about that.

Very nice...  It looks great, to-scale...  Very cool.

The more obscure stuff that does show, the more I think ICMG has a shot.  I'd certainly buy one if for no other reason than I think humans get short-changed as far as their background "civilian" characters go.  Like I'd like the Jabba guard that fired the deck cannon that had on a Russian-style winter hat with the ear flaps...  He looks like Randy Quaid.

Frozec's another great choice, as is the guy that shoots Luke's right hand and gets cut down for the pin-point accuracy.

I'd be A-O-K withthat. :)

Also, I'm not sure everyone agrees but I noticed that 21st's Marines have a repaint series (from green fatigues to pacific theater camo), but the heads all got a new paintjob too.  Some look the same but with maybe stubble/5-day beards, while others are a COMPLETE repaint.  New skintone (tanner), new hair color completely, new eye color...  It's amazing what just a different paintjob on the hair can do to make a figure look 100% different.  That'd be pretty neat to see on more figures IMO.

I'd kind of like to see that pop up more often really.

But I agree wholeheartedly on interchangeable heads and the like too...  3 unique sculpts and interchangeable between all 3 bodies?  That's a great idea Jeff.

The Rebel set's a dream right now...  Be great if it'd happen.  I'd go broke buying them, but it'd be great. :)

That would have raised the retail to at least 49.99.

heh   :D

Anyway, Jason I'd say (by the measurements I've heard) that the TIE is close to-scale if not accurate due to inaccurate numbers for ship dimensions in sourcebooks.  The FX X-Wing's 80% at best though if not slightly less, so the TIE's gonna look good with it if not a bit large actually.

At the price, I'll be lucky to get two...  I may just get one and hope for a sale if these are widely abundant around my area.

Toy Reviews / New JD Review: Captain Antilles
« on: August 23, 2005, 10:11 PM »
Not a figure I'm pleased with but one I felt was at least a good contrast to what Hasbro's done RIGHT in the ROTS line.  This week I tear apart the Revenge of the Sith figure Captain Antilles for your enjoyment.

You can read the full review Right Here and of course feel free to share opinions with us as well.

My thoughts are pretty well known on this figure though...  I'm disappointed primarily in his lack of articulation.  He's not bad to look at, but he doesn't hold up to precedents in the ROTS line like even the Bail Organa figure most all of us would stand him next to.

There's some other flaws, but in the end I feel articulation is the major problem here.  Some knee joints and some extra arm points and I'd pretty much have given this figure a positive review.  At least as positive as I feel about Bail Organa as a figure.

His Classic Trilogy Counterpart (I still say they're not the same guy.  They can't possibly be) is at least a pretty great figure short of some knee joints.  :)  He's more important anyway...  to me at least.

I think the Battledroid one could be a winner...  I'm not sure I'd include the Magna Guard, but instead the ultimate Destroyer Droid (One that they got as close as possible to "folding", or included interchangeable parts so you could get him to fold).

I'd also like a Rebel Trooper set...

-Tantive IV, Hoth, and Endor...  The army builder sets would have me shelling out the cash like there's no tomorrow.  *sigh*

For the curious it comes in around 1/19 - 1/20 scale (not 1/18) however the measurements I got for height could definitely be off on some level since I've found some conflicting width measurements.

That's making it about right...  Pretty negligible differences.  I'm gonna pick one up to do some more comparing (if it's way off I'll just take it back), but it seems alright.

$40 alright?  Well that's another story all together.   ::)

If you try for multiples of the AT-AT Jess, I would maybe go in on a set with you if you wanted.  I'd like at least one if not a couple...  Lemme know.

I'm here pulling for you too Shannon...  You're on my mind.  You're a wonderful person I've had the fortune of meeting, and I'm keeping you in my thoughts, I promise.  I hope beyond hope for your health to get better.  You know we all care about you immensely.

You're doing some great work DR, I like the Dresellians a lot just because they're an uncommon custom to see.  Did you sculpt the patch-less Commando yourself?

For WIW, I tend to go with a different backstory on the Dresellians...  I like to think of them as a bit more evolved than EU's given them credit for.  I have just viewed their rifles as a laser the same as an MG-34 worked as one as well.  Wooden stocks aren't uncommon on other blaster weapons so that's cool to me.  That's just my take though.

I like them as a reasonably advanced species who have been reluctant to openly join the Alliance (thoughs ome volunteer on their own and are assimilated like any other volunteer).  The Dresellian resistance movement then sorta is like the Viet Cong...  Ruthless, efficient, and very adept at defending their planet but with also some good skills off-planet that they lend tot he Alliance for the battle of Endor as well as other engagements.

Anyyyyyyyyway, sorry for that...

I like them and I dig your use of PTE figs for bases.  They work well for random commando's who are relegated to not having structured unifroms and stuff.  THe softgoods robes rock too.  Very retro but look great.  I'm just curious on the patch-less sculpt you used.  I'd like one actually myself!  I've hoped Hasbro would update with a 2nd Commando (more articulation, cloth cloak) that didn't have a patch...  Or at least had a removable patch.

EDIT:

I should note that I was complementing Kevin's Dresellian's that used the PTE bases above.  I noticed a base I'm not familiar with on the next page back for one of the original Dresel Rebel's custom Dresellian's though.

Great stuff either way.  Nice to see the Dresellian homeguard getting some love in customs.

Toy Reviews / Re: RAT Ends: General Madine

Trying to get some headcasts going for customs using Madine.  I love the figure.  I had him in a "defending" pose with a blaster for a while.  Funny how a boring guy with a supercuts hair-do can be such a great figure just based on his arms being fun to pose. :P

He did nothing and yet I've got him in a pose on my rebel shelf holding a blaster and tearing up some Imp Stains.
