So now we know the value of 6 figures that are all essentially repaints and pack-in pieces... $60. :o
-
And some day in the future, these will be individually repacked. I may wait, depending on what's in it.
-
This is where the grey market in Hong Kong comes in handy.
-
This is an Amazon.com exclusive according to GalacticHunter's twitter.

True, but if they had been in the basic line, they'd be $10 each anyway.
Wait for a nice Amazon sale to pick it up for $40 and it's like buying 4 and getting the two BADs for free. :P
-
I guess $60 isn't awful for 7 figures... it's still a crappy format though. 7 mostly unrelated figures, six of which are repaints. I would have loved to have seen the 212th single carded (especially instead of that grey stripe Clone), and another Sandtrooper would have been cool. The best part about this set is that it clears out most of the figures left in "limbo"; aside from Rex, Mace, and astros (which could easily be released on their own) everything from the original Droid Factory that we saw is slated for release. Maybe now we can see some NEW figures (not repaint, retool, repack) in the line.

True, but I could avoid buying them if the BAD concept were the same where I could get the parts I needed with other figures. :) I had no interest in another Sandtrooper really, or the Clone, or the Geonosian... Now, gotta get the set to get what I want. That eats it.
But, I'm waiting for the sale too... Trying to look at it that way, but waiting for a sale's tricky. If I see the droids offered for cheap before then, I'm going that route.
-
I hope someone asks Hasbro for the 'real' details about this set.
- some places are saying it's a 6-pack, but there are 7 figures shown - Sandtrooper, Battle Droid, TIE Pilot, Geonosian, Clone Trooper
- does it come with the tan BD shown or the Red one that was announced for the Droid Factory line?
- does it come with the orange Sandie shown or the black pauldron one that was announced for the Droid Factory line?
Would be nice to have those details settled... if it is the Red BD and Black Sandtrooper, I'll probably wait for an Amazon sale into the $40-45ish range and then grab one. If it's more tan BD and orange sandies, I'll probably just go the ebay route to pick up the two BADs and 212th Clone and ignore the others.
-
Hmmm... the pictures from the panel (http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/hasbro-star-wars-panel-2/) seem to indicate that this set is six Droid Factory carded figures that will let you build TC-70 as the BAD -
Red Battle Droid
212th Clone Trooper
Black Pauldron Sandtrooper
TIE Pilot
Geonosian Warrior
FA-4
=
BAD TC-70
-
Oh! That's good news (for me). I just want FA-4.
-
Gonna hurt paying for all those figures when you only want a couple, but it is what it is... At least they're army builders. The droids are pretty awesome at least.
-
Oh! That's good news (for me). I just want FA-4.
Even though they are coming single carded, I'm not sure if Amazon is going to sell them that way - just the six pack for $60 has been announced so far.
-
Yeah I'd say that's how they're coming is as a set, not individuals, but I suppose anything's possible.
I will say, hollered before I was hurt... If the set's $60 it's not a horrible deal really since you build TC30 free basically... I retract my premature indignance. Makes the Sandie, BD, and Geonosian more tolerable.
-
The Battle Droid is all I want.
-
Sell ya mine if I can have the droid part. :)
-

Well, in that case, I'll wait for it to be rereleased... or if someone on here has a spare.
-
Could these be coming in a box set like the "lost" Indiana Jones figures wave from two years back?
Those were all individually carded, but sold as a set.
-
Possible... free shipping better apply because that IJ set's absurd.
-
Possible... free shipping better apply because that IJ set's absurd.
I can't imagine they wouldn't - I didn't think the Vintage exclusive vehicles would qualify but they do, so I'm sure these will qualify too.
So here's the big question - where are the other droids they had planned for the Droid Factory line? R8-B7 and R5-X2.... lost?
-
Forgot those droids, and they were dandies really.
-
Maybe they'll be revealed next week?

Pre-order,

and it does ship free! ::) .... I guess that is something now isn't it? plus no tax.... hey this keeps getting better!
-
Me tax. :-\
-
Tax for me as well. But, it's pre-ordered.
-
Limited to two per customer? UGH!
-
I'm pre-ordering tonight. Need to get off the pot.

No, it's BAD, UGH was something else. ;)

No, it's BAD, UGH was something else. ;)
Ha! Well played. No tax for me.
-
Ordered, taxed, free shipping. Can't bitch much. Like $9 a figure isn't wretched.
-
Packaged figures. What fun year this might have been, before the
dark Black times...
http://forum.starwars-figuren.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=530 (http://forum.starwars-figuren.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=530)
Geonosian is called SUN FAC.
-
I think Droid Factory would've been awesome as a line between now and the films, completely. I think even just repainting droids they have done would've been great filler... EU decoes or even just made up stuff to be neat and/or interesting looking.
That said, what they put out, how can anyone really complain? It actually comes to cheaper per-figure than otherwise... There are some "eh, another figure I don't need" kind of choices I guess in there, but at this point, this little set of figures was well worth picking up I think... not just for the droids, but I think in general it's just a decent round.
-
Price dropped to $49.99 (http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Collection-Factory-Exclusive/dp/B00DS05H6G). Cancel your pre-order or call for an adjustment - they don't do it automatically.
Update: Price back up to $59.99
-
Was reading a thing the other day on their site about preorders and prices adjusting and it really seemed like they should be automatic. So far only person I know who tried was denied when he called. :(

I think that works if you call during the price reduction window. I've done it before with no hassle from Amazon. But if they are only lowering the price for a brief time like that, I don't see why they would make it automatic. The lower price is meant to drive up added sales of the product, not drive down profit across consumers who already paid. I think most retailers put that onus on the consumer.
-
Just got a shipping notice. Oh boy.
-
I'll have to check mine when I get home. Giggidity!
-
My order's being shipped now. Should have it in a week or so.
-
Mine said October 29th too... which makes no sense since Prime is 2 days shipping.
-
Yeah mine's regular... Maybe just a generic thing and yours will get to you sooner?
-
We'll find out on Saturday.
-
Mine arrived yesterday. Got to give Amazon a little credit as the figures shipped all together in a while mailer case packed inside a regular amazon shipping box. It was exciting to open them all and then build the protocol droid. Though, I'm a bit puzzled as I really couldn't take apart the other droid.
-
Got ours yesterday. I opened the white inner mailer - still can't believe six figures fit in there. The figures look sharp, and I'm digging the package way more than Black Series. :-\
-
Though, I'm a bit puzzled as I really couldn't take apart the other droid.
I was as well.
Am I remembering it wrong? I thought Dooku's Pilot Droid was supposed to be the other Build-a-Droid in the first wave of 12 figures. Right?!
-

he was, but when the BAD line got nixed they moved him to a main line figure. IMO he, and the Jabba droid, are the real sellers of the set. If Dooku's droid wasn't in it I just may have passed on this set altogether. But I had to have the Jabba droid!
-
The pilot droid comes apart.

The pilot droid comes apart.
So do all the figures if you really try. :P

$40 on Amazon now... Far better deal, but really they were worthy at $60 considering you got a bunch of basically army builder repaints and a couple dandy droids.
If people can unwrap themselves from the thought that they're paying $60 for 2 figures, they'd probably be happier collectors.

It's easier to swallow when you sell off the other figures to friends. It's how I just justified buying the set. While it was great for this to be an army builder set, I either had enough of a particular fig (Sandtrooper) or no desire for a fig (the clone). Thankfully someone is taking most of these off my hands so I can keep the BADs. Also made sure to click the banner on the news page to give a little something something to JD :-*
-
I wound up keeping all my figs and I think I'd like to only sell off the red Battledroid for like $8... I just don't like that new sculpt's diminutive stature. I was more or less happy to get the rest... I didn't need any, but, eh, whatever. The TIE Pilot at least was kind of interesting.
-
Just ordered them from Amazon using the $40 deal. I had some money left on my rewards card so they ended up being free for me. I could always use some new troops.
-
Hooray for Amazon sales. Picked up my first set at the $50 sale price and now I just ordered one for $40. That works out to $7.50 per fig for some nice army builders and two freebie droids. I'll wait to grab a third set until they hit $30. :P
Like others have said, if Hasbro wanted to toss out a droid factory 8-pack like this via Amazon to get us the two 'lost' Astromech BADs (R8-B7 and R5-X2), that'd be A-OK with me. :)
-
Yeah even at $60 I'd be fine... Throw the parts in even with in-demand figures from TVC maybe?
-INC (head variant would be cool but not necessary)
-Echo Base Rebel
-Fleet Trooper (again, head variant's cool even if it's just painted different but not necessary)
-Bastilla Shan
and so forth...
I'd be quite happy to get more. Sure there'd be bitching, but they got them out there in some capacity, and got those rockin' astromechs out to the public.
I'd be a sucker for a Droid Factory set a year really... :-\
-
I finally got around to opening the shipping box for my Droid Factory 6-pack. I'm glad I bought it at the sale price, because when I looked at all of the figures in the set, I was kind of underwhelmed with the character selection. FA-4 and TC-70 are cool, but otherwise the set seems a little lame. There's nothing really new about them. Aside from FA-4 and Jabba's protocol droid, the rest of the figures in the set feel like a bit of a letdown.
-
$29.99 as of now
-
$29.99 as of now
That's slightly frustrating, as I ordered several sets for $40 back on Sunday. Hopefully Amazon is willing to do a price adjustment. At $30 the set is a steal.
EDIT: Got a price adjustment from Amazon in under 15 minutes after sending an e-mail. Sweet!
-
I broke down and ordered a set. I hadn't planned on it, but at that price, hard to resist.
-
Praise Jesus.
-
Wow. I had one or two days left before my return window closed. So, I ordered another set and will return it when it arrives as the other order. I'll get $25 back. I could try emailing them to save the hassle, but sometimes they don't do it after the fact (Mine arrived at $59.99 almost a month ago) and I'd rather get $25 back than possibly miss out on the current low price.
Thanks for posting that.
-
Heck yeah! I was hoping it would stay at $40 for a while and pick one up but I just placed my order for a set. Came out to $37 after tax and shipping for me in Texas, but still a great, great deal.
And since it's still Thanksgiving, thanks to Hasbro for killing my enthusiasm about the line! There was once a time where I would have bought this set the day it went online, now I hold off for a while and get it for half price!
-
$29.99 as of now
WTF?!?!
I sent an email to customer service at Amazon. Let's see how many of these orders they'll price adjust. I only placed my order about 1 week ago.
***EDIT - 1 hour later, and I have confirmation from Amazon Customer Service that they're refunding me the price difference. Very cool, Amazon!!!
-

They've actually got a special going at Amazon for a free month of Amazon Prime. That translates to free shipping!
-
Emailed Amazon for the price adjustment. They did it within 15 minutes of me sending the email. Amazon rules!
-
Thanks to a tip from JD, these are now listed (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DS05H6G/ref=cm_sw_su_dp) at $23.99. ******* crazy.
-
Wow. They must not be selling, at all.
I'm pretty happy with the $26 I got back... but that price is ridiculous.
-

Can't imagine why. Throw one A, B or even C level character in there and they wouldn't be doing this I think. As it stands, it's an abortion in a to-go box that no one gives two ***** about. I wouldn't be the least surprised if this craters at $19.99 at some point.
-
At this price, I ordered a 2nd set... buncha army builders and 2 droids that are nice to have... I'm content. May sell the BAD figure off for something to even offset this since it's a figure I don't really NEED 2 of anyway, haha. The army builders though are ok if you want more of 'em.
Anyone needing a couple red Battledroids? :P
-
I had ordered five sets to part out when they dropped to $30 (well, $40, but I got the price adjusted), but I couldn't resist grabbing another two sets at this lower price. I may grab a few more sets, since $4 a figure is a terrific deal.
-

I think multipack sets either need a strong theme or to be comprised entirely of "A" characters to do well. This Droid Factory lineup wasn't compelling enough for collectors or casual buyers. Imagine an entirely Clone Wars or Tatooine/Mos Eisley themed set though...
Also, the initial pricing might have killed this set as well. Collectors have come to expect large figure sets to be better values, but the $60 price point wasn't a deal. Like TRU's Jedi Knight set (now marked down to $22.50 BTW), this was initially overpriced and is now at deep discount. Maybe if it was priced at $40 from the start it would have sold better.
-
$60 for 7 figures is overpriced? I can't say I agree... I can get not liking what is in this, but those TRU sets were actually more per figure ultimately at their initial price...
I dunno, for me I didn't mind these. I didn't love them, and they weren't huge on my list this year, but I happily pre-ordered at full price (got an adjustment but that was because I'm cheap as hell).
I appreciated another TIE Pilot, Sandtrooper... I thought the Geonosian made an ok extra... I appreciated getting the two droids of course. I didn't care for the Battledroid but I think most probably liked it more than I did.
The Clone... eh. DAMN HIS HELMET!!!!! (j/k)
Seriously though, I'm cloned out on anyone but super duper Commander remakes or EU. Orrrrrrrrrr... An impaled 501st would be awesome because it just makes sense to do one up that way.
-
Just ordered a second set at the $23.99 price point. I just couldn't help myself at that price.
The set is not my favorite but I don't hate it, and I was happy with my original set at $30. Love the TIE Pilot, Sandtrooper and Geonosian, and Dooku's Droid and the BAD are great figures too. I'm also happy to get more red Battle Droids, as I am the only person who likes that redone Battle Droid (I think I got several sets from various BOGOs and clearances). Like Jesse said, the only real "bad" figure in the set is the Clone, due to the reasons he listed about Clone fatigue and such.
$60 is a good deal considering that figures are $10 plus individually but with multipacks, people are looking for a bit of a bargain. All but one of these figures are repaints. Easy to see why people would be hesitant at $60, but jump on it at $30 and below.
-
Figures must have a huge markup to discount these to 60%. You know they are still making money on these.
-

I wouldn't be too sure about that... if they really weren't moving, losing $X.00 per sale is better than not selling any at all.
-
I just ordered another two sets myself - the price is too good to pass up.
-
Given what these sets are its just as possible these are very inexpensive for the retailer. Kmart was making profit on their 2 packs even at their sale prices and with the available coupons for toys... Or so I've been told. These exclusives have all had one thing in common this year and it wasn't tons of new parts.
-
It's now $15.00.
-
That's insane. Although I already have the set, I feel like an idiot if I don't get another.
-
I'm feeling weird about buying more, yet I'm tempted.
-
Yeah I feel like two is enough but with a bunch of Black Series figures from Wave 1 going down to $3.50 at the same time, I feel like I HAVE to order a bunch of stuff.
-
Now it's 49.99 and out of stock!
-
I just looked it up and it was back in stock for $14.99. Seriosuly, like 2 minutes ago.
I have no interest in this set whatsoever but even I am tempted to pick up a couple for that price.
-
I got one for $14.99 about a half hour ago...I'd suggest you keep checking
-
Now it's 49.99 and out of stock!
And now it's back. The listing for this set has been a wild ride.
-
Anyone able to checkout without amazon knocking your order down to quantity 1?
-
This set didn't do much for me at $40, but at $15 this is too good a deal to pass up. If nothing else, I need a good TIE Fighter Pilot for my currently pilot-less TIE. Adding the troopers into the mix sold me.
Now I just need a crazy sale on the TIE Interceptor and I'll be all set.
-
Wow, $15 each? Either Amazon's wholesale purchase price on the set was crazy low or we're never going to see Amazon try this again. :P
Anyone able to checkout without amazon knocking your order down to quantity 1?
I just ordered two sets and it went through.
-
I'm starting to wonder if anyone outside of the dozen or so people commenting here are even buying it at that price.
I just ordered one.... I'll eat the $4 to ship and will get another $11 back on my $29.99 purchase from last week.
-
For $14.99 I had to order a set as well. I was originally going to pass since most of the figures were not too exciting. But the Build A Droid is cool and other droid are cool.
-
Anyone able to checkout without amazon knocking your order down to quantity 1?
I was able to order three with no issues. I already had two in my cart from when it dropped a few days back, so added a third and checked out for $45. I just went back to check the site and it let me put three more in my cart with no problems. At what point is it telling you there is a limit?
-
Okay it's 3 per email address. I got 10 but had to use 4 accounts.
-
**** it, they're giving them away. I just grabbed another one for Toys for Tots. But I might keep the TIE Pilot. :-X
-
Okay it's 3 per email address. I got 10 but had to use 4 accounts.
LOL! Wow.
-
Local guy got 3 (one for me), so I'm up to 3 of these sets... I'm done.
I mean, I'd take more of the Sandtrooper, TIE Pilot, and some others... Frick, for $15... Damn Christmas budget. >:( I'd have bought my limit otherwise.
-
Had Amazon adjust my order from Black Friday today, and thought about ordering another, but none of these are particularly figures I need more of. Insane deal though. Deal of the year.
-
It's gone now. It's back up to $60 from a scalper.
-
I feel like rolling over and smoking a cigarette.
-
Back in stock for $14.99, but will take 1-2 days to process.
Haven't jumped on one at $14.99 yet, I feel like two is enough but I'll probably break.
-
Weird how every time I click on the link for this thing the price changes. It's like hitting the lottery.
-
Even at the $15 price, one set of these is enough for me. I wanted this set mostly for the BAF Droids, and not so much for the other figures. But the crazy swings in pricing have been interesting to watch.
-
Okay it's 3 per email address. I got 10 but had to use 4 accounts.
LOL! Wow.
Just got 3 more. Probably need 16 even to have 2 x 8 man squads of those Utapau clones and RBDs. The sandtroopers and TIE pilots are nothing to sneeze at either.
-
I was going to pass on this, because I really only wanted Dooku's pilot and the BAD figure, but for 14.99 I couldn't say no. While this is good news for us, it's bad for the line in general However, if that wave had been 5 new sculpts and one resculpt. I would have bought it at full value.
-
Same here, I was never all that excited about this, but at $15 it is tough to pass up.
-
Just got 3 more. Probably need 16 even to have 2 x 8 man squads of those Utapau clones and RBDs. The sandtroopers and TIE pilots are nothing to sneeze at either.
If I was still doing PT clone squads, I might have done the same. This is a near perfect army builders wave, but it's not enough to justify buying 9 or so for me.
-
Caught on the news this morning that Amazon changes prices 2.5 million times a day vs. say Best Buy and WM who change their prices roughly 55,000 times a month.
Thought that was interesting..
-
Got my second set ($23) in the mail last week. I figure two is enough with these, as I really just want more Battle Droids and will probably be able to get them individually for pretty cheap in the coming months. Sandtroopers and TIE Pilots would be cool too but I have so many at this point that I'm basically buying them for diversity in the ranks.
-
Regarding the TIE pilots, I'm happy that they're doing little deco changes with each release to add uniqueness, but I still would like to see a standard "Grunt" pilot back in the mix every now and then.
-
Other than a non-clone head, I can't believe people want a resculpt on this guy. The proportions are spot-on. The details are incredible. It's like the AT-AT Driver... I loved the Saga figure. I really felt the BAD one was a waste of tooling dollars.
-

He's definitely a good figure. If anything, I'd want new legs or at least a retooling of the thighs to prevent them from going all "ostrich" at the knees.
-
I have a defective one with a goofy mold defect on his upper leg. He's not salvageable. I pick these guys up when I see them cheap though and the helmet variations are subtle but appreciated.
