Mine wasn't all that fun to put together. The pegs on the foils that plug into the bottom of the boat were bent, so I had to straighten them out. The damn thing still doesn't want to stand on the foils, so I have it on display with the foils in the closed position. I want to say this plastic is far cheaper than it was on the 1984 version, but that could just be memories of my friend's Hydrofoil since I didn't have one.
When I tried to stick the steering wheel in, it stressed the plastic, so rather than break it, I didn't put it in. The searchlight lens doesn't want to stay in place either, but I think that's always been a problem with this toy.
The missile rack went in alright, but I didn't read ahead in the directions far enough, and the piece directly behind the rack doesn't flex as it should.
The stickers SUCKED, so I didn't put them on. They're garish as all hell.
Overall, it's a modern Hasbro vehicle reissue. Cheaper plastic, gaudy stickers, and strange paint and plastic color combinations that ensure you're going to want for the old version about fifteen mintues after taking it out of the box. But then again, I never thought this thing would be reissued, and I'm glad to finally own one since the con versions and Night Force ones are too damn expensive, and most of the '84 specimens lack many key parts. I wish the con exclusive had the marbelized plastic and the TRU version was that awesome Cobra blue.
