Other Toy Lines / 4" Predator Toys - by Hiya Toys
« on: June 14, 2017, 09:53 PM »
Hiya Toys put out their two new Predator figures and BBTS has them for pre-order.http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Search?SearchText=hiya+toys

Pre-ordered the Shadow Predator. Looks like I snoozed and  missed out on the City Predator and Pvt Redding so I'll have to go to EE for them. I put those off because I invested some more cash in Maruader Valkyries figures first.

Joe Defender / GI Joe Convention 2014
« on: April 8, 2014, 10:49 AM »
Anyone from JD going to the Con this year?  I'm not going to be there and didn't buy either of the sets.  I don't care for the Zombie stuff and didn't feel the value was there on the 12" set for what's included.

Without Hasbro attending the Con, it's not looking like we'll get any new reveals or see any samples of the 50th stuff coming to TRU later this year.  While there may be some good, informative panels, I think the most I could hope for at this point info on the FSS 3.0, if the Club is doing one.  Maybe hear some plans for their future 12" product since they basically cleaned out the store with that latest sale they had.

Conventions / Baltimore Comic Con

Didn't see a thread for this.

I'm going this year for the first time and was wondering if anyone else would be there?  Joe Kersavage, couple you guys probably know him, has been going for the last couple of years and loves it.

Joe Defender / G.I. Joe Convention 2012
« on: April 6, 2012, 10:05 AM »
It's been rough going over at the Joe Club for the last couple of months, but they updated the Convention page yesterday with the first teaser of this year's 3.75" set and it's going to be the October Guard!  Or, some part of the Guard, anyway.

I'm really psyched for this.  It's one of the teams I wanted to see in the modern style so I'm interested to see how the Club pulls it off.

I'm seriously thinking about ordering a set this year depending on how the figures look and what characters are included.  I'm also interested in seeing the 12" set again because that's going to be another Adventure Team release.

Club announced another subscription figure today, Dice.

We now have Quarrel, Nano BAT, Topside and Dice.  I'm guessing Slice will probably be one of the figs also.

Other Toy Lines / Crysis 2
« on: January 4, 2011, 11:54 AM »
I hadn't heard about this line of figures till Generals Joes posted a story about them.  The figs were found at Target, generally stocked next to the Halo figures.  Price should be about $8 but it seems that some people found them before they were in the computer and got them cheaper.

They're about 4" figures with decent articulation and weapons.  The aliens/mechs look like some good bad guy types and the C.E.L.L. figure seems to be the winner for the human characters.

Not familiar with the game they're based on, but these could make some cool additions to several lines and I'm sure some customizers will have a field day with them.

Anyone here pick any of these up yet or think they will when found?

Joe Defender / G.I. Joe/Action Man: Modern 12"
« on: March 19, 2010, 02:27 AM »
I know the 3.75" lines are generally more popular on the forums and other Joe fan sites, but I'm as big a fan of the 12" figures as I am of the ARAH lines.

Anyone here collect only 12" or have more of a focus on that scale?

There were some decent releases over the last couple of years but they were all based on ARAH characters and I didn't pick up any of them.  I did pick up a few sets from the 40th Anniversary Action Man set.  I'm actually waiting on two orders to come in right now, one from the UK and one from Cotswold for what will probably be my final order.

I also ordered the 12" Escape from Spy Island convention set this year and so far the photos of it look like it'll be a fun set.

Joe Defender / GI Joe Convention
« on: March 5, 2010, 08:13 PM »
Anyone here going to the GI Joe con in Rhode Island this year?  I'm going!  It'll be the first one I've been able to attend.

When I lived in York, PA I thought I was going to have the chance to go when it was in DC in 1999, but the weekend landed on August 1st and my job wouldn't let me off that weekend since it was our monthly billing cycle.

Anyway, sent in my registration yesterday and booked a room.  I'm getting the 12" Return to Spy Island set but this was the second time I was tempted to get the 3.75"  set (the other being the 2008 set).

I'm psyched because it's close, but the final thing that sold me was the Hasbro tour that's being offered on Friday which, hopefully, I didn't wait too long to register for.  They're doing 500 people for the tour but 100 of those will get in by lottery, according to the website, while the others are on a first come basis.

Joe Defender / Adventure Team - 3.75"
« on: March 5, 2010, 08:04 PM »
Have you guys seen the card art for the new 3.75" Adventure Team figures over on the Club's site

Very excited over this.  The art looks great, I'm just excited to see the figures.  They're going to each be sold with a vehicle, which I don't care for, but I think I'll be getting these anyway.

Other Toy Lines / Avatar toys by Mattel
« on: September 28, 2009, 05:46 PM »
I thought I'd start up a topic on these as they were just mentioned in the Star Trek thread and should be released pretty soon.

I guess I missed the debut at Comic-Con this year, I hadn't paid any attention to anything but Star Wars and GI Joe, really.

Anyway, it was mentioned in the ST thread that these were not compatible with GI Joe figures?  I asked about the scale over there but then found an article on Figures.com that said the basic figures and toys are 3.75."  So, any word on these, are they really not compatible with other 3.75" figures for some reason?

I guess I could see them not working with some of the newer Joe figures as they've crept up to 4", but what about O-ring Joes, Star Wars and other lines of that nature?  The Scorpion Gunship looks excellent and the ATV isn't bad.

Edit -> I found a post over on HissTank.com where some guys have these in hand.  They're saying the figures are more in scale with the DC Infinite Heroes figures which are smaller than the SW and Joe stuff (even O-ring).  Apparently the Scorpion Gunship cockpit doesn't fit any of the 3.75" figures we have.  That pretty much sucks.  The Scorpion Gunship is almost a no-brainer, but not if none of my other toys will work with it.

I have a question about the TRU CW Gunship; does anyone know if the hole for the AF style display stand is still useable with that type stand? Does it still have the plastic insert or did they modify it for the screw base?

Anyone have a photo of one displayed on the AF style stand?

Other Toy Lines / Tonner
« on: February 21, 2008, 07:07 PM »
Anyone here collect the Tonner doll lines?  I was looking over the Toy Fair photos of the new Harry Potter items and they have some really cool stuff coming including Snape, Fawkes and Hedwig plus Harry, Hermione and Ron with a sorting hat.

The likeness on some of the characters may not be 100% but they're all very close and even if they just miss there's still usually something they nail like the eyes or something.

The Mary Jane figure from the Spider-Man line, for example. At first look I didn't see the Kirsten Dunst likeness but the eyes definitely make the face.  Same with the Elizabeth Swan figures from the PotC line.  The eyes and the profile of the face are very Keira Knightley.

Plus all the outfits and accessories are very well done.

Watto's Junk Yard / Fanboys (The Movie)
« on: January 10, 2008, 07:59 PM »
I couldn't find a topic on this but I have a question.  It was supposed to open next Friday, 1/18, but I can't find any information on that on the various "coming soon" sites like IMDB.com, AICN, BoxOfficeMojo, etc.

The Weinstein site still says 1/18/08 but MGM, who is distributing, doesn't have a single mention that I coudl find.  The local theater doesn't have any posters up and the manager said he wouldn't know till Tuesday if it opens next Friday.

Anyone here know any more?

I've been looking forward to this film since before they dropped all the teaser footage on us at CIV but there hasn't been a single TV or radio spot for this, I can't find anyone but fans talking about it on-line..it's like it's a big secret if it's actually coming out.
