Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwo'ole's "Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World"

My wife and I went to see "50 First Dates" last night. They use the song in the closing credits. I first heard the tune used in the old eToys commercials in the late 90's - the dad watching his son try to catch fireflies, then shopping for a gift online and seeing a bug cage on eToys - really moving and memorable music.

The song has been used in "Meet Joe Black", "Finding Forrester" and "ER" as well.

I tried to pick it up using iTunes, but for some reason all of Iz's stuff has been taken down. So I googled "another source". You can hear the song here.

Update

I saw this this morning at macintouch.com:

No surprise there.

Watto's Junk Yard / Antispam registry?

Is this group the real deal? I only counted two whole spelling errors in their email to me instead of the usual 12+.

This is the email I got from them:

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Celebration 3 is heating up.
« on: January 15, 2004, 04:28 AM »
One factor that could keep Celebration out of places like Las Vegas is the labor organizations in all of the venues there. Places like Las Vegas and Chicago are a lot more expensive for exhibitors and organizers because they require Union labor to set the show.

Second tier cities like Indy, Orlando and San Diego do not. I think the cost implications will probably keep C3 out of places like Vegas, even if C3 is trying to go out with a bang.

Just my guess. Can you say "drayage"? I knew you could. ;)

Adam,

Looking for work is right up there with buying a car or moving for me, based on the experience you're having.

I've moved a lot, and gotten pretty good at it. I've bought a few cars (and got rid of the old one), and I've basically got that down now as well.

But looking for work, and in my case developing clients, can be rough. It's easy for me to be brought down by outrageous requests and poor communication. Sounds like you're experiencing that in your search.

I flew to Afton, Massachusetts for an interview in 1996. Long story short it was a complete bust. I should've known before I even got there based on our conversations prior to them bringing me out. It was similar to the audacious "Yes or no now" crap your place pulled. These guys were certifiably crazy. There would be no sleeping on it, talking it over with my wife, yada yada yada. It hurt more when things went from bad to worse and they excused me from the process. The interviewer was drunk and told me to "resource my a** back to Salt Lake City". I did, and bawled my eyes out. Then I realized I'd never had an alcoholic father growing up, and I didn't need one as a boss either. I'm pretty sure that not getting the job was one of the best things to happen to my career, and probably why I'm still in the industry.

Best wishes on your search, and hang in there.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: caption this (aka fun with clones)

I'll take a chance:

Young Ani cannot take the teasing of other Jedi youth about his lame padwan braid.

The Red Commander consoles him, but really cannot relate since he is identical to all of his peers.

Clone one: “Nice nose, cupcake!””
Clone two: “Look who’s talking - literally.”
Clone two: "Oh yeah. Right. Sorry."

Thanks to everyone for the awesome welcome. I love this place.

It's great to see familiar faces (Dale) and new ones as well - Grant and Kevin. I'm also fascinated that many of the same threads exist here that were in my exiled home - apparently started by the same individuals. While I cannot explain this phenomenon I'm enjoying it greatly. It's as if I've entered a mirror Universe, except instead of finding Bizzaro Superman here I've discovered he is from from my originating Universe.

See you all out in the forums!

Hey Deanpaul!  Welcome to JD finally!  You're only 5 months late from when we got together here in L.A. and I invited you, but I'll forgive you...   ;)

I know, I know. Only 5 months late? I'm ... a ... very ... slow ... typist!

Ironically, I am headed back to sunny Cali on the 22nd. It's just a quick day trip to Mission Viejo via John Wayne. Wrong end of the Valley, although that has not stopped me in the past.  :) It will stop me this time. A different client is starting to get cooking (also Orange County) - if that goes well it could be a multiple day trip. Otherwise, the family wants to return to Pacific Beach when the water warms back up for a vacation. We spent 4 days there in September that were awesome!

Excited to be here. Finally.

Welcome Deanpaul to the looniness that is JediDefender, hope you enjoy your stay and we promise we'll do everything in our power to make your stay one of first class luxury all the way

Fantastic Scott. First rate all the way. The accommodations have been more than acceptable thus far. I’ve found this location to be both beautiful and peaceful. The staff has been especially welcoming.

My needs are few at the moment. Thanks for the welcome.

I was suspended, too, buddy - but now you're in my jurisdiction.  :P  ;D

Angry Ewok, why do I hear the theme to “Cops” when I read your post? How do you do that? “Oss-ifer, I wuz jus typing uh reply... Whut?”

Sorry to hear you were a casualty of the cross fire, but I’m glad to be in such fine company. Perhaps a club is in order?

I didn't shoot the sheriff. And I only grazed the deputy. Nevertheless, I fought the law and the law won.

I found my bags (temporarily) packed for me, and left curbside.

Thanks for the new home / vacation condo.
