Watto's Junk Yard / I just saw Matrix Reloaded...
« on: May 15, 2003, 01:52 AM »
and all I can say is "huh?"

I'll try not to spoil any of it for people that haven't seen it but I thought it was highly unfullfilling.  The action sequences are pretty good but the scenes where they use computer animated actors really detracts from the outstanding job they did with the first movie.  The CG actors looked very "gummy" and I felt like I was watching a cartoon.  The writing is pretty bad in this one so be ready for several 10 minute long speeches that pretty much lead nowhere.  A lot of the talk seems very confusing and doesn't really lead you anywhere.  Oh yeah, and be ready for a psuedo-music video that is the ultimate in boring.  If you need a good action fix then catch this movie, if you want to see a great movie that's got good action, then go see X2...

I should have went drinking and killed more of my liver instead of going to see it...

I tried webshots but it will only provide a link to the gallery.  I want to find something I can paste photos into my posts here so people don't have to go searching around.  Any other suggestions...

Saga '02-'04 / Re: What's up with availability
« on: May 14, 2003, 12:45 AM »
what up with distribution you ask? i don't care...
i just wait for it to be not screwy as all i want are my damn toys....

you don't see this happen with books, comics, or music....
why toys?

You don't see this happening with other products because they have release dates.  I've said this before and I 'll stand by it.  If Hasbro had release dates like they did for the first installment of the Saga series, many people would be a lot happier.  Colelctors could know when new product was out, retailers would be able to get better information about peoples spending habits, we wouldn't have to rely on paying higher prices for online retailers...

Watto's Junk Yard / Thanks!
« on: May 13, 2003, 05:17 PM »
Just wanted to say thanks to Scott for featuring my topic on the front page of JediDefender!  It was a nice surprise to see it there...

What's up with availability?

I also wanted to know if anyone knows of a good free picture hosting site.  I want to take pictures of the new Deluxes with my digital camera and post them for all to see.  My site doesn't allow links to the individual pictures...

Hey there dime store...

Glad to see you're still around.  It was always nice to have you chime in at nomadjedi's forum so I'm glad to have a familiar poster around here...

Welcome...

I agree with the case assortments being screwed up.  This ten different figures in a case of 12 really bothers me.  It should be 3 or 4 different figs in a case of 12 for army builders and 2 each of main characters.  You don't need extra main characters but army builders will always have extra picked up...

I don't neccessarily agree with the competition point.  no series is as well know as SW and none of them has as big a following.  LOTR is close but there isn't as much variety in characters as SW...

Quality is a debatable point.  Some figs are great while others really suck.  Some of the other lines mimic that.  The Simpsons series has been sucking my wallet dry but now they are releasing a lot of new sculpts, characters that only showed in one episode, or the crummy fact that a lot of the figs only work on one playset.  What a bunch a crap...

I also wonder which is a bigger difference in the market, collectors buying stuff, or parents and kids looking for a new thing to play with...

Hey chewie, has anyone reached out to jedimastereric?  I never saw him posting at any other board but he was pretty frequent at our old forum.  Just wondered if anyone knew if he was still around...

Saga '02-'04 / What's up with availability
« on: May 12, 2003, 11:59 AM »
I posted this on another board but wanted to throw the same question out here and see how the responses compare.  Besides, I think its a pretty good thought provoking question even though its been beaten to death...

Okay, what's going on...

I was reading the new Toy Box section of the SW Insider, a nice addition if I may add, and there is a part that says the lack of availability is due to the retailers not ordering things from them.  It explains the ordering and distribution process but most of us know how it works.  Anyway, my question is, what's going on?

We all know the figures are produced and many people have found a few at retail and others have picked up cases online.  but the availability is so screwed up.  Some places have the new figs but only a case or two and they sell quickly.  Other places miss entire waves and then show up with a new one.  Other places have had empty pegs for a month...

Is hasbro shorting the retailers?  My local Targets have had nothing new since Xmas.  Are the retailers not ordering?  Wal Mart has picked up a few cases now and then but they still have some stores with a load of pegwarmers.  Is it really just a slow time?  But a huge toy time like easter showed no improvement...

Just wondering what the general thought was.  or maybe someone knows for sure.  I stopped making toy runs and its worked out cause there hasn't been much to report in my area anyway for the past month...

Maybe the war is to blame...

Jocasta's Reading Room / Tatooine Ghost is killing me...
« on: May 8, 2003, 12:32 AM »
Has anyone read this book?  I've got about 50 pages to go but I've been annoyed the whole time.  I really don't like how they've tried to tie in the prequels with the OT.  Anyone else feel this way...

Huh?  I've never hit that site.  I used to go to snpp.com all the time.  It is a great site for trivia and other stuff but I mostly used it for a episode guide.  up till 2 years ago I had every episode on tape.  When I heard they were releasing them on DVD I stopped, although I shouldn't have since I'll be dead by the time they release all of them...

I'm not familiar with SCS.  I post at rebelscum and used to be a regular at nomadjedi's...

What is SCS? Is that a Simpsons site?  I've only posted at SW sites...

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Clone 3-pk ...does it suffice?
« on: May 8, 2003, 12:19 AM »
Too many destoryer droids.  There weren't many in the movie.  I wish they would just release a new one that would roll up into a ball.  Then I would buy a builder set...

Well, my real name is Andy.  I've been a collector since the big POTF2 clearance sales.  I started picking up as many carded figs as I could and then I found a huge lot over on yahoo auctions.  I collect a carded collection of 3 3/4" figs and I open everything else.  I try to put together diaramas but I've been moving around a lot and haven't had a chance to set up a new diarama.  I have a large vintage collection and am only missing a couple of loose figs.  I still have most of the original figs I had when I was a kid.  The first set I got was the cantina set.  My parents opened all of them and gave them to me on Xmas in separate boxes.  What a cool xmas that was...

I also collect some of the newer lines but I'm an opener for all of these.  I pick up MOTU, muppets, and especially simpsons figures...

Anyway, here's to the forks, I mean force...

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Clone 3-pk ...does it suffice?
« on: May 7, 2003, 01:18 PM »
1st, Thanks to Chewie for inviting me.  I feel so loved...

2nd, These 3-pks better not s#ck!  I'm really excited for them and I was checking out the pics of the clone set.  The standing one seems to have knee articulation so I'm hoping all of them do.  They would have to have som major neck movement though for the lying down clone to get in the position he is in and look up to fire...

The other sets don't intrigue me as much.  I'm glad for the new jedi sets but I think head swapping will be a must and they don't seem to have a ton of articulation either.  I'm not immpressed with the droid set.  All I want are some red bd's.  There are plenty of the SBD and DD so unless they upgrade these, I won't be making a new army.  I still stand by my idea of a battle droid 10 pk...

2 white bd
2 red bd
2 security droid
1 pilot droid
1 commander
1 DD
1 SBD

That seems like a good ratio
