So the Spurs won, and nobody (anywhere) seems to care...   ::)

Well, I have to deal with the Nets losing.  Again.  And then the whole "Will Kidd come back thing".  Uggghhh.

I understand Roger's sentiments.  For him, it's all about winning.  I think he likes his two rings WAY MORE than the two 20 strikeout games he through as a Boston player.  He's also very councious of the fact that Dan Duquette, the former Boston GM, basically ran him out of town, and told him he was through.

So, what did Roger do?  Got in the best shape of his career, and won not one, but two Cy Young awards with Toronto!  He was DOMINANT!

Then, he comes to the Yanks.  What kind of stats has he racked up?  67 wins and counting,  two World Series titles, his 300th win, his 4,000th strikeout, and another Cy Young award.  Not a bad performance.

Based on that, I think the Hall should let Roger decide.  He hasn't been a Sox player for almost ten years.

The CZ droid, C-3P0, and a Death Star gunner were rumored for a third wave.  When is anyone's guess.  There's more of a solid lead on the one's I mentioned in my previous post, since we've at least seen prototype images of these.

Saga DF Padme - perfect except for the screaming
POTJ MOTD Maul - the best version of him easy
POTJ Mos Espa Qui-Gon - under that poncho, he's awesome
Saga SC Anakin - save for the cloak and disco ankles...

...and robotic hand.  Pretty dead-on the mark there, too Spuffy!

There are definitely some close candidates.

Han Solo
-POTF2 Commtech:  I don't think they're gonna do much better than that one
-POTJ Bespin Capture: Another great one

Luke Skywalker
-POTF2 Flashback:  Pretty much the best Tatooine Luke, I think.  Add in the articulated knees from the Commtech one and he's perfect
-SAGA Bespin Duel:  He's up there!  Add a little more articulation, and maybe sell a clean faced variant, and I don't think you could beat  this Bespin Luke

Chewbacca
-SAGA Cloud City Escape:  Another great sculpt.  All he's missing is the crossbow

R2-D2
-POTF2 CommTech:  I defy anyone to find a better R2-D2

C-3PO
-SAGA Deluxe:  the best EPISODE II rendition I've seen
-POTF2 Millenium Minted Coin:  the best clean version of Threepio.  All he needs is some articulation.

I think the jury's still out on some of the other core characters.

Some people actually like to get those custom cardbacks.  I know in the case of a friend of mine, he's gotten several figures on custom cardbacks.  For instance, he got a Rystall, from the "Jabba's Dancers" cinma scene like that.  He knew it was a custom, and he bought it to get autographed by the actress who played the role.  It actually looks a bit better than the Cinema Scene I got signed by the same actress.

Of course, that doesn't really apply in this instance.  First, Sir Alec Guiness wasn't a prolific autograph signer, and the man passed away a couple of years ago.

I think the appeal factor is pretty up there for me, when it comes to the Skiff.  I had a hard time getting mine, first of all.  And then, considering how expensive the original  is, in the vintage line.  Those are some of the things that elevate the Skiff for me.

I saw at one online store that they were taking pre-orders on the Gamorrean Guard, Rebel Tech, and Gungan Warrior sets.  They said they were expecting those in the fall.

The license runs through 2018.  So, there's plenty of time for Hasbro to take advantage.  I guess the big question is:  will they?

And with new rumors (I state again RUMORS) of a third trilogy, maybe there's a reason for the extension of that licensing.

Based on the way Roger is still pitching, I'd really like to see him stay in pinstripes for at least a couple more years.  He's still got more tools to work with than most guys in their 20's.

The current flap is this:  Roger is taking his issues with the Hall Of Fame up a notch.  He wants to be inducted as a Yankee, or else.  He says if he doesn't have the classic NY on his hat, he doesn't intend to attend his own induction to the hall.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Army Builder
« on: June 16, 2003, 09:53 PM »
Well, that's the result of Hasbro getting into the act.  Collectors have been army building for years.  They'll get multiples of Stormtroopers, Endor Rebels, etc, to build battle scenes in their dioramas.

Hasbro has started to cater to this type of collector.  The first army builder set consisted of 4 CommTech style Stormtroopers sold through the Fan Club and other online dealers.  It was pretty plain, in a white mailer box, and included the 4 Stormtroopers with weapons.  The same thing is now being done with a modified version of the POTJ Sandtrooper, POTF2 Endor Rebel Soldier, and the POTJ Rebel Trooper-Tantive IV Defender.

With the Clone Wars line, there are a whole new generation of army builder sets that will be available at retail.  They include multiple versions of the Clone Trooper army set (a plain version, and another with ranked Clone Troopers), a Droid Army set, and a Jedi Knight set.  These are relatively inexpensive (about $10/set), and they're relatively unarticulated.  They're also the first army builders to be packaged on a blister card instead of the white mailer box.  These are geared towards the collector who likes to build dioramas, and have a variety of troops to build those scenes.

Hasbro produced 50% of the Endor Rebel as the bearded (Tom Green) figure at first, and these shipped fairly early into the Saga range of figures (I recall spotting them in October I believe it was, but I believe they shipped in September initially?)

The other 50% of the Endor Rebel's production run was this new figure who is clean shaven, and blonde.  I'm not sure when I first saw him off hand now...  I'm thinking prior to X-Mas I saw one maybe.

I'm not quite so sure it was a 50/50 split on these.  Hasbro NEVER releases any kind of production run numbers, so we've got no evidence to go on to make this kind of a determination.  In most KayBee's I've been to, they have the bearded version.  Particularly in the 4-packs.  On other occassions, I see the beardless one.  It's kind of a toss-up.

The one's outside the city aren't that great.  So, no need to sing the blues, Lando.

the one in Monroe is pretty good, i forget what road its on though.
i want to say 287, but i am unsure.

but hey all wal-marts are about 40-50 minutes away from me... so i know wht its like not having them around.
but as little as i go to them, i'd be pissed if they had no SW items as thats what i'd be going for.

Dimetrodon, I only talk about stuff like that over at the NJSWCC.  You should post there some more.

For me, I really like the way they packaged the skiff, for one.  It really added to the presentation.  The action levers are pretty good, too.  They actually work.

In some early production photo from AOTC, Count Dooku is pictured with both his red lightsaber, and a green lightsaber.
