;D Elliott ;D I do that too when I don't know actors names...too funny
OK folks, most of us go out to the movies from time to time, as well as hitting the local Blockbuster for the lastest DVD/VHS rentals.
OK, I'll start this bad boy out here...
My wife and I recently made the horrendous mistake of going to see Gods and Generals. Ouch. My wife is a college history professor and I'm always down for a good war flick with some intense battle scenes, so we had high hopes for this movie. As many of you have probably already heard, this movie runs a whopping 3 hours and 45 minutes, and even includes an intermission! Yes, you heard me right - the movie stops halfway through for a 12 minute intermission. Unbelievable!

I want to give you my biggest condolences and sympathy for what you had to endure. Did you not have a clue as to how long the movie was going to be? There's no way I can sit in a movie theater's chair for more than 2 hours. Anything longer than that I'm going to have a lot of back pain.
I'd have to say that you're nuts Matt for going to a theater to watch that. You should have just waited until it comes out on DVD.
I just saw Catch Me If You Can Last night and it is one great movie.
Despite the scathing review, I'm going to see Mimai Vice today. :P
I saw Monster House this past week, in 3D, and have to say that I was most surprised and entertained. The only fault of the movie is that it lacked a broader life lesson/real world problem for the main hero. That said, the characters were great and fun and the visuals were well done. Not a bad film at all to see in a pinch.
Miami Vice...the horror.
If you thought The Matrix was puzzling in the beginning, go see Miami Vice. If you thought Anakin's dialogue was hollow in TPM, go see Miami Vice. If you think spontaneous sex makes a good basis for a love story, go see Miami Vice. If you just love cliches, go see Miami Vice. If you thought The Bourne Supremacy was filmed badly, go see Miami Vice. This movie will blow you away.
Here's how the movie starts: No opening credits...seemingly in the middle of the movie. There's actually a sign outside my theatre saying "Miami Vice does not have opening credits. The movie may seem to be starting in the middle, it is not. The movie is at the beginning." There as absolutely no explanation as to who characters are and where they come from...no way to identify with them. There is no character development at all during the grievous 2 hours and 12 minutes. Some parts of the movie use good quality film, such as the rooftop seen from the trailer. Most of the movie is filmed in the style of "C.O.P.S." however, and is terribly difficult to keep in focus as the camera is constantly moving up and down. Furthermore, if you blink during the film, you'll quite possibly miss a scene change which could be up to 24 hours in this setting. The filmmakers provide no transitions between any scenes, be it dynamic music, or dialogued explanation, making this Huge Summer Blockbuster more like a chopped up student film.
As an open-minded movie goer, I beg of you, wait to see this movie...listen to people you trust before you throw away your money. It really is a black mark on Hollywood, and a big letdown for Michael Mann.
That sign is hilarious. Reminds me of the first time I saw Grease.
...Lady in the Water was a melange of fantasy and crap.

???
Collateral was the last Tom Cruise movie I enjoyed.
I'm sure a lot of folks would agree with me...he used to be one of my favorite actors until you know what happened.
Is anyone bothered by the fact that there is already a movie about the twin towers?
I'd like to hear some thoughts on the subject...without getting political.
I wasn't aware that there was already a Twin Towers film.
I feel the subject is too 'sacred' to make a movie about. Kind of like Pearl Harbor.
On top of that, some big movie company (and Hollywood superstar(s)) is making money off of it - to me, that's just not right.
Do you feel the same way about Abbot and Costello doing WW2 flicks during that war? Or Looney Tunes doing the same? Captain America comics fighting the Nazis?
Who's going to sympathize with Nazis getting their asses handed to them by Captain America!?
This tragic event that affected so many people and changed the course of life for so many Americans (among others worldwide) is now a blockbuster movie starring Nicolas Cage and directed by Oliver Stone (the guy that brought you Natural Born Killers).
Doesn't that just feel, well - odd? I felt that same way when I saw Ben Affleck and Josh Harnett flying around in WWII bombers "pretending" to be heroes.
