Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What do you drive?
« on: June 24, 2007, 04:24 PM »
I'm still reluctant to look at hybrids seriously.  I think they're a great idea but for two points:

Another fun fact on Hybrids - The Ford Escape advertises 28 miles per gallon compared to the Ford Escape Hybrid at 34 miles per gallon.  Over the course of 100,000 miles, that 6 mile per gallon difference saves you alsmot $1900, but the Hybrid Escape costs a good $6-8k more than the regular version.  What a great deal!  Here's another fun fact: Has anyone done any research on what the impact of making a hybrid car battery is on the environment?  From what I've read, you will do less damage to the environment by driving a non-hybrid in the overall scheme of things.  :-\

You might be referring to a study by CNW Marketing Research.  They're an Oregon company, and like anything one needs to follow the money and consider the source.  However, they do make some valid points regarding the whole life environmental cost of hybrids compared to other SUV's.  Their story is sets fuel economy claims against the cost to manufacture, transport and reclaim materials used in new Hybrid class vehicles.  They consider the Jeep Wrangler the most environmentally friendly vehicle because it uses "established technologies that need less energy in manufacture and many parts that are shared among other vehicles, reducing the energy used in manufacture. They also have a longer life cycle."

So take it for what it's worth, considering the money most likely behind the study.  There are people here who would be willing to present data to suggest EP1 was the best film in the saga.

Brent,

I don't have a Bose but I use have the Harmon Kardon iSub+Sound Sticks in one room of the house and the JBL Creature speakers in the office.  The Harmon Kardon product is great, while the JBL leaves a lot to be desired.  Not sure what you're going for (size and sound wise), but try out the iSub+Sound Sticks and see what you think.  Our friends are consistently surprised by the sound quality of them.

It was only a matter of time before the locked up the husband boyfriend.  What is the deal with these guys?  They need to read this thread and stop killing their pregnant wives girlfriends.

The fact that whoever did this left the 2 year old alive is good, but the way the kid witnessed the crime and recounted it in his limited vocabulary makes me really sad.

Ohio Mom's Body Found; Boyfriend Charged

Jun 23, 11:33 PM (ET)

By M.R. KROPKO

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - A massive search ended in sadness Saturday when authorities announced they found a body believed to be a pregnant woman who vanished from her home a week earlier. A police officer believed to be the father of the unborn child was arrested on two counts of murder. Jessie Davis, 26, who was due to deliver a baby girl on July 3, was reported missing after her mother found Davis' 2-year-old son home alone, bedroom furniture toppled and bleach spilled on the floor.

The boy gave investigators their first clues. "Mommy was crying. Mommy broke the table. Mommy's in rug," the boy said.

Thousands of volunteers had searched for Davis over several days, while investigators continued to question Bobby Cutts Jr., 30, who is the father of Davis' son but is married to another woman.

Investigators were mum on many details of their work until they announced Cutts was taken into custody Saturday and was to be arraigned on charges of murder in the deaths of Davis and her unborn child.

The Stark County Sheriff's Department also said a woman's body was recovered in Summit County at 3:30 p.m. Authorities did not give a location but said they believed it to be Davis.
Television news footage taken from helicopters above Cuyahoga Valley National Park showed investigators riding off-road vehicles to reach an area that is heavily covered with trees and brush. It also show authorities carrying a body bag on a stretcher and loading it into a white van.

Roger Riggins, an investigator with the Summit County medical examiner's office, confirmed a body was found at the southeast edge of the park, about 25 miles from Davis' home in Lake Township.

Tim Miller, director of Texas EquuSearch, an internationally active search group that organized the volunteer effort, said Davis' mother, Patricia Porter, and other members of her family were called together and told about the body in late afternoon.

"A lot of the community stopped their lives to looked for Jessie and that meant so much to her and the entire family that they knew they were not alone in this," he said.

During the investigation, a newborn baby girl was left on the doorstep of a home in a nearby county, raising questions about whether it belonged to Davis. DNA tests were being conducted when another woman confessed to leaving the child at the home.

An attorney for Davis' mother said the family had a roller coaster ride of emotions and had no comment.

"I've seen them laugh, cry, be angry - everything you can imagine," Rick Pitinii said. "They need to be together, and they need to be alone, and they need to grieve."

Cutts, a Canton police officer since 2000, has said he and his wife are separated and that she knew about the affair with Davis.

Chief Deputy Rick Perez said the case was still being investigated. He would not comment on whether there were any other suspects.

Telephone messages seeking comment were left at the office of Cutts' lawyer, Bradley Iams, and the home and office of the Rev. C.A. Richmond, who is Cutts' pastor. Iams' home number is unlisted. Cutts' wife also did not return a phone call.

Cutts has been on paid administrative leave from his job.

"There is no denying that this has resulted in giving a black eye in the opinion of the local community as well as the opinion of the rest of the nation," Canton Police Chief Dean McKimm said of Cutts' arrest.

The police department had tried to fire Cutts in 2003 when authorities conducting a drug raid on his cousin's home found Cutts' handgun hidden under a mattress. Canton police officials said Cutts gave the gun to his cousin for protection and said Cutts was lying when he reported the gun stolen. A federal arbitrator ordered the city to reinstate the officer, saying police had not proved the allegation.

Cutts pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct charge in 1998 after he was accused of breaking into the home of a former girlfriend. He was sentenced to three years' probation.

Nah... lol...

One is a Dragon and Tiger on top and bottom of a rock symbol... similar to a ying yang... but cooler...

To me it represents me and my wife... There is alot of shading and detail... so I am being picky...

The other ... I had a commsion done of me and my wife done as Jedi... I am now doing one of us as Sith...

The one I like better will be the one I might do...

That's too bad.  Getting breasts in a trompe l'oeil style would rock.  It'd be like those women that paint themselves to look like they're wearing clothing.  Only you're a dude, and yours would look like you have breasts and aren't wearing any clothing.

I'd rethink the dragon and tiger humping a rock tattoo in favor of something more unique.  The Jedi commission could stay as a charm on a tatoo pendant necklace, to help draw attention to your tattoo breasts.  That could be nice.

Awwwwww.......you guys remembered!   ;D

Thanx for all the well wishes!!!  Hit the big 3-0 yesterday!  :-*

Pathetically bitching your way into receiving birthday wishes does not equal people remembering your birthday.  At least not in the way you want them to.

I called around 8 am MTN and couldn't get through.  The line rang and then went to a fast busy signal.

I just tried again, got right through to someone there.  My order is okay and ready to ship.

I think the real question, is are you going to spend the extra 500 bucks and get a HD camcorder, so you can film the new baby in high definition widescreen.  ;D

Sony HDR-HC3 all the way.  I got mine when it first came out and haven't looked back since.  Super little camera.  Here's a nice resource.

My haul today was:

 -8 Vintage Snowtroopers
 -4 Stormtroopers
 -1 Biggs
 -1 Vader
 -1 Luke
 -3 Jawas
 -2 Luke/R2-D2 Comic packs

That's been $300+ out of my wallet in the last three days. OUCH.

Patient:  Doctor, it hurts when I do this.
Doctor:  Then stop doing that.

Somebody call the whaaaaaaambulance.  ******* crybabies.

There was a $10.34 difference on two figures shipped.  Unless you're bulk ordering these things it's not that much of an increase.  I understand the position regarding customer service and fault, but c'mon – that point was made five days ago.  How long are you guys going to bitch about a nominal amount of money?

Yeah!  Let's just keep whining and bitching (because we never make mistakes ourselves) until we get through to them and they understand our pain!  I want my $10.34 baaaaaaaaaack.  Whaaaaaaaaa.   :'(

What can I say that hasn't been said in the last FIVE pages?

I've purchased and sold several things with Robb over the last six years.  Robb helped me out with a hard to find item, charged me retail and shipped it really fast.  I got it today, well packed and awesome, as always.

Thanks for helping me Robb, really wish you were still in Utah!

Unless she's just disdainful of having anything to do with any of the Losties.

Our unless there's more Walt tale to be told....

I thought the coffin looked short too.

Maybe it's Gary Coleman?  He's short, and Kate might find him repulsive.
