I moved this to one of the areas it's more appropriate in...  In this case, the E3 area, but it coulda gone to the classic trilogy too.  Either way I'm leaving it here for anyone to participate if they want.  I'm also going to edit the title so it just makes more sense to those browsing this area and they stop in if they want to.

Slightly more acceptable, still not ideal.  If Hasbro's bitch in the past has always been that "doing a mailaway is hard due to cost", then WTF are they doing by LIMITING the mailaway?  A shorter production run means a higher cost per unit produced so I'm just not seeing the logic.

If it's not so limited, well then yippy skippy, but I'm personally bracing for the worst so I don't completely lose my hair should it turn ugly. :)

Hey Hasbro! / Re: NO CHASE FIGURES!!!
« on: January 9, 2006, 12:55 AM »
Hasbro,

Please, please, please, please do not start adding "chase" figures to this line.

3.75" figure exclusives are bad enough, but "chase" figures will kill this line...  :'(

Your Pal,
Jeff

Jeff sums it up for me...

Don't do chase figures, at all...

If they do, will I quit?

No, but I can say my collecting habits will change.  Right now I'm a loose completist, but chase figures will 100% force me to dump that aspect of the hobby.  I'll go to a pick and choose category, which while I don't like everything in the line, I still like having a complete loose set...

If Hasbro basically screws the collectors with these possicle Chase Figs though I can safely say I'll be saving a TON of money on SW figures I haven't necessarilly liked but that I've bought to "collect them all".  I'll just drop that attitude like a bad habit and Hasbro can toss off.

No more lame red lava figure exclusives for me...  I'll be too busy trying to track down that SA Biker Scout that's only 1 to every 100 cases.   ::)

What the political make-up of the Empire is during the Civil War and during its early years (and pre-years of the Clone Wars) could vary though...  No real evidence of a xenophobic state is in the films though Jesse, to answer your question, aside from the "This Thing" comment by an Imperial Officer on the Death Star and the fact you don't see any aliens anywhere...

At the same time, you don't see any in the Alliance till ROTJ, and Leia called Chewbacca a walking carpet, so is she really not a speciesist individual herself?  Seems derogatory to me.

The EU's perpetuated the notion of a xenophobic Empire...  Which isn't to say it couldn't be that way.  The Separatists were predominantly alien species with one agenda or another...  Their corporate conglomerates could be viewed much the way Jews were viewed and persecuted after World War I as having a stranglehold on the world's economy, nation's banks, etc...  People could have had a highly negative view of aliens, and Imperial Propoganda could have helped spur that notion among humans, and even among some alien races.

Myself, I think that any hatred of species was kept within the Empire's higher levels...  It was sort of something engrained in officers, the Empire tried to keep all outside species at a glass ceiling they couldn't rise above whereas the true power positions could only be held by humans.  Military would be strictly segregated and the real fighting body kept human while the proposed idea of this thread ("Home Guard" or Planetary militias controlled by the Empire and only assimilated into the Imperial military machine to a certain extent) would be kept more or less on a leash to control these species effectively and efficiently by using their own people.

Some planets, and some species would require direct subjucation by Imperial military might, while others, especially those who support the Empire for one reason or another and either are ignorant or turn a blind eye to the perceived "speciesism" attittudes of the Empire, are easily controlled because they almost WANT to be controlled and be an accepted part of what they think is a better world (or galaxy in this case).

It's like the end of ROTS shows...  Liberty dies to thunderous applause.  The Empire was hardly an unpopular movement...  Palpatine had manipulated events, twisted the truth...  He'd turned the Jedi into the bad guys, and that now there'd be peace and prosperity.  I think the majority would love and support this.  I think some would see through it, and Lucas kind of established that with the Petition of 2000, but they're the vast minority.  Most, even aliens, accept the Empire I think...  Where the xenophobic state of affairs comes into play?  That's anyone's guess.  It could be at the onset with political doctrines like the Tarkin Doctrine being formed, and maybe just select people know of this and support it, or it could be just something subtle right up to the Empire's very end.  Tough to say, and really up to the individual to decide.

Personally, I don't think it would have necesarilly meant the game goes all the other day Jeff, mostly because their backup played well for most of the first half and had his moments in the 2nd half too, and also the fact their QB went down didn't mean that their Oline needed to collapse like it did (and their backup handled pressure better than Palmer can IMO), nor did their Defense have to sorta fold on itself either.

The Steelers kinda had their **** together at the end of the first half, and into the second half you could tell they'd had a talking to in the locker room.  I think Palmer's injury was one of many things that went wrong for Cincy throughout the game, and it happened right away and they still were playing better than the Steelers were for a large part of the 1st half.  The Steelers just persevered...  So to me the injury means less, it doesn't take away from the win for the blackand gold.  That's my opinion though.

Von Hoelhoffen (I just butchered his name) was visibly upset at Palmer's injury, it was completely unintentional despite how some of the Bengals reacted...  I don't know if they were trying to build off the anger or if they genuinely didn't realize it was an accident...  That game got ugly fast from that injury though.

It was a good game...  Won similarly to the last few where the Steelers have some sloppy play at first that is turned around later in the game.  I was really thinking they weren't going to win till the last couple drives of the first half where they seemed to buckle down some.

Glad to see the Bengals going home packing.  :)  I hate Ohio.

Feedback / Re: Ryan's (pka Sith Lord Chaos) feedback

Hey, here's Ryan's feedback...  Couldn't find it! :)

Anyway Ryan helped me with MORE XD figures, and I was Incredibly late paying him but he was way too patient with me.  Ryan's a great guy, very trustworthy, and an asset here to JediDefender.com, we're happy he's so active in these parts.

God knows I'll be begging him for more help since I can't find the military figures I collect out where I live, haha.

Thanks Ryan, once more.

Another great transaction with Jeff...  Helped with acquiring a Wedge on the cheap and also bolstering my Shocktrooper platoon.  Much appreciated, and fast shipping, easy communication, and very reliable packaging all are Jeff's trademarks.

Jay hooked me up with some stuff in a trade recently too, great guy and very fast shipment.  Great communication too, and we're hopefully going to do another trade here in the very near future too.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Carkoon Wave

By my own rules he's not a pegwarmer yet, but man he's on his way it seems. :)  He's about the only Saga figure to be found, and he's definitely around.  Saw 3 last night at WM, now there's 3 at KM...  Other stuff's gone, but captain neck nads is there.

I can only say I'm INCREDIBLY concerned right now about this...

This will, quite frankly, suck much ass.  I can't see this being good for any of us ultimately.  It's going to make the line a frustrating hobby where it's so far only been frustrating because we didn't really realize how badly Hasbro could take a big healthy **** on us all.  I think we're about to find out just how badly they can tell collectors to go to hell though with this idea.

I'm hoping my fears aren't realized, but at this point I have not got a lot of faiith in Hasbro's ability to NOT screw us.

I want the Panzer IV too Paul, but it's pricey for me right now.  Skirts and a winter white wash would have probably made me lay one away already though.

Anyway, they're not fragile by my tinkering with them...  I don't have problems with joints popping off and stuff.  Sometimes you get a factory defect here and there like a shortened limb or a joint that's pins aren't molded right so they don't hold together but that's not too common.

I haven't seen BotB figs yet really, definitely not S2, and it's killing me.  Glad to see you making a comeback to it though Paul.  I need the new BBI WW2 infantry and stuff, those look sweet.  I need these new BotB though, they're just what I wanted, especially the US Greatcoat rifleman.

Lots of good stuff and we've still not heard about the "Bridge Too Far" line.  There was a lot of talk they'd secured rights to that film, which could be on the way...  I want a Sean Connery Red Devil!  Now that's kick ass custom fodder.

Isn't England in Ohio?

There's Toronto Ohio, but I don't know about England.  Or India...  Ironically there's an Indiana Pennsylvania (near me) where the one chap at GalacticHunter lives near...  Home of Jimmy Stewart.
