Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Endor Wave
« on: May 10, 2006, 01:14 AM »
The gunner's big on my list too.  Seems like FULL body armor too...  Been nice if Veers had gotten that level of effort.

Great figure though, and a gunner for all seasons now...  ROTJ and ANH designs.  I'm in for more than 10 of those actually. :)

I also like that it appears the POTF2 Gunner won't look out of place with this guy...  It's like the AT-AT Driver in that it's good, but the original wasn't as bad as one may think.  The TIE Pilot looks out of place with his POTF2 Counterparts though unfortunately.  :(

Yeah the head to me was basically passable...  It's a good likeness to Ford, but maybe not Ford circa 1983...  It's not bad, not great, it's ok though...  The Carbonite Saga Han is good, better really, but if the eyes are painted the same I'm content with the VTSC as is then. ;)

Still that is a better head overall, I agree.

Why would he wear Hoth Boots in his X-Wing uniform though?  I'm confused on that being a criteria...   ???

The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Star Wars: Empire At War

So already an expansion pack being mentioned?

Did you guys read our story on the front page on it?  It's interesting the concept they're running with on this.  Playing not from the Alliance or Empire's POV, but instead the 3rd party "opportunist" point of view...  A criminal lord up-and-coming in the crime world of the galaxy.

I have always thought that playing from the pirate/criminal point of view in Star Wars would be neat.  I wanted to see LA go with a "Privateer" styled game where you're warrin' and whorin' but never borin', milking the system, playing both sides against each other for your own gain...

I'm curious how they'll make this work out though.  Sounds like new units, though nothing terribly great it seems.  At least not yet.  Should be interesting to see in the future.

I was gonna toss out a comment on the holsters myself...  I noticed on the 2 modern paras they made that the holsters have a pistol sculpted in them, and that sucks butt since they do have working holsters on the line overall.

The Marines didn't have them though...  They had those lame holster/belts I didn't even keep on my figures.  I wish htey'd go back to working holsters though, those looked fantastic, and a pistol in his hand with one on his hip looks stupid to me.

You saw a lot of these Ryan?  I've seen nothing new with BBI for ages.  :(

I'm ok with the bare armed Spec. Forces dude not having wrists but I'm bummed to hear the Night Stalker lacks them.  That's a load of BS, no doubt.  The Spec. Forces guy should have them too...  To me articulation outweighs aesthetics.  The paint thing, eh...  I don't get BBI's unwillingness to cast in flesh tones unless they worry about matching paint to it or some such.

Not without their flaws but still they look great to me. :)

Sounds interesting...  Should be a busy con for you guys.  I may have to get down to it one of these years when I'm not always hectically busy on weekends.

I'm just waiting things out I think...  They all are looking/sounding great, it's become a headache just deciding what I want.  Even the Nintendo's sounded promising to me in ways.

I didn't notice the hinged knees on the Sparrow figure...  I noticed some had static legs though, nothing beyond hip articulation, so I guess some aren't badly articulated while others are...  Still, the giant hands, the price, and there's still a lack of articulation there for posing I feel to some degree...  The price, if lower, would have maybe changed my mind I think.

Rebelscum I think...

You've signed on there long after most of us called it quits though.  A lot of the membership here are from there from years ago before RS took over those message boards and stuff...  Long story, but there's a lot of old members from there here now.

Yeah, I have a pre-jump set of paras from WW2 and they're ok but not great.  I got them mostly for the headsculpts for customizing casts.

They display ok, but they're of course limited to that pre-jump or jump look and that's it.  It's like OTC Dagobah Luke...  You either have him training with Yoda on his back or handstanding.  Luke did a ****load more work than that.  Some articulated arms were in order, but alas not to be had.

That's not a bad idea at all...  And the new ball/socket joints make the head swapping easy in execution, plus they look better on the holo/transluscent figures than the old peg/post styled necks were...  It can show through the torso and such.

I'm never sure how I feel about con figures myself, but the spirit set is something that sorely needs updating, no doubt...  It's iconic, though not for ANH really.  Still its as good a choice as anything I think.

I saw a boatload of these tonight actually.  I was surprised how many considering another Target I was at just last week had only one...  I'm not counting on clearance so I'll likely pick one or two more up but I was really shocked at how many were just lying around at the last Target I was at tonight.

Just found out from Darth Gamboa..that in Santa Clarita California Their Super WM just lowered all basic to just 5$..yes, $5.00 each!!!! Well, they had 10 full pegs of coruscant last week..he now says their half empty--go figure .

Yeah Jon, I can go figure on that one. :)

When Toys R Us did their sale here a few weeks back the stores had WALLS of figures.  Every TRU I went to had a healthy supply of the first 3 waves.  I went at the start of the week to see what I could find on the sale then knowing they were stocked pretty well.  I got a good dose of Hoth stuff for cheap at that store, but couldn't get around again till the end of the week...  I hit 3 TRU's the end of the week then, and all 3 were devoid of figures though 2 weeks prior they were all heavily stocked.

I'm amazed how stuff can really "sit" at $7-ish but at $5 you see stuff fly out the door, seriously.  It's a huge difference...  I hope WM's do this nationally and we see Target follow suit, and HOPEFULLY TRU gets the hint too.

KB and KM I expect nothing positive from of course.
