Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Mail away SA AOTC Clone?
« on: April 27, 2006, 05:00 PM »
Yeah, those were just out this past year and were AOTC Clones...  I think.

Actually I think we were one of the first to note those, as I saw them at K-Mart...  Don't recall seeing it anywhere else though.

I'm trying to think, but did Vader's TIE fit in that sort of standard box for the $20-ish pricepoint?  I'm thinking the POTF2 one did, but the OTC one was a different box as I recall I guess...

But yeah I'm wholely expecting the squat-winged fighter, not the right one.  Disappointing.

FUN can't get old god dammit.

Any place that is "affordable" ultimately would suit me.  If it's cheap to eat, sleep, and such...  that's cool.  Indy was, Minne would be I think...  LV I've never been to so I'd be interested, I just loathe flying if I can avoid it, plus it throws kinks in groups having tables.  I know Bill's had reservations about a PSWCS booth being able to make an LA con, and FFURG would be hard pressed to make a con that 90% (or 100%, I'm not sure) of their staff would have to fly to...  We'd have no FFURG booth and that was a highlight for me last time.  We did a lotta good for that end of the hobby at C3 because we could all drive (or most could) and pack in lots of stuff needed to set up a customizing booth...

Toy Reviews / New JD Review: VTSC Han (Trench Coat)
« on: April 27, 2006, 01:49 AM »
I'm kicking off my Vintage The Saga Collection reviews this week...  And oh mama, these are sweet figures to own, even at the price.  Lots of figure goodness to be nitpicked upon.  These are the kinds of figures I LIVE to review though in this line.  They're why I collect honestly...  Of course it's better when you get them for $5 to $7.   :-\  $12 sucks butt.

Anyway, first up...

Vintage TSC Han Solo (In Trench Coat)

Clicky the image to read the full review...  My hat's off to our own Jared too, who takes the highest-res, best photos of ANY site on the net.  We're unmatched there, so as he keeps working, the SW collecting community as a whole really gains a valuable tool in Jared's image galleries.  Nobody comes close folks.

Anyway, Han...  Where to start?  Super articulated, good for many scenes in a couple films, nicely accessorized...  Awesome sculpt, though there are flaws...  For instance without his vest on youc an see a noticeable gap on his lower back due to the torso articulation.  Also the "hovering holster" is back that plagued the VOTC Han Solo figure.  I'll live with it but it looks odd not physically attached to the thigh.

Anyway, I love this Han...  The torso articulation was maybe overkill and I'd be happy without it honestly (just standard swiveling articulation at the torso is fine), but still it's novel to have it and does add a lot of poseability to the figure.

The blaster isn't proper, but Endor Raid Han's are a dime a dozen.  I have a couple I got just for the bombs and pistols as I recall as they were on clearance.

The coat though, THAT thing kicks ass.  Working pockets on it?  Fuggetaboutit!  It fits, it's not bulky, it's nicely sewn/decorated (the camo pattern on it is perfect), and it's everything I have personally wanted in an Endor Han Solo action figure.  I've wanted Endor Han for ages too, so this is a figure I've NEEDED in my collection, and now it is here.

Is Han perfect?  No...  Others in the wave hold that distinction though.  Han is pretty great though.  Super articulated, maybe too much so (*gasp* Blasphemy!) with the torso...  Super accessories...  And who doesn't want one for Carbon freezing on Bespin, or for fighting on the Skiff, or for raiding the bunker on Endor, or for sneaking up on your Biker Scout (oh I'm giddy to get to that one!)?

This figure is fantastic...  If it weren't for price, the review would be that much better.  Hopefully Hasbro sees fit to use this sculpt again.  I'd re-buy it down the road I'm sure if it came with different gear, or whatnot.  It's just that good.

All 3 ar egood, though Maul's so-so due to his arms.  For some reason they just are a pain to pose.

Palps is pretty spiffy though, no doubt.

Rangers didn't look good at all...  I've sorta been rooting for Edmonton and Jersey though, so the Jersey win I was happy with...  I'm throwing support all around though.  This has been a good opening playoff round so far though overall I think.  There's been lots of good games (I love OLN by the way, this has been fun watching games I'd otherwise not have gotten to catch most likely this year).

Could it be enough to push Jeff's campaign over the top?

I think so.

I'm just waiting for this darn thing to be over.  But if he wins, maybe the Rebelscum icon will be on the front page of Insider.   :-\

And at that point I'll be sure and let the Insider know they lost a subscription via their little campaign to get new people to sign up...  Hopefully others will too.

I want nothing with fan site's logos on it unless I actually don't mind the fan site too much...  I wear my PSWCS shirt happily, I wear my Jedi Defender.com shirt happily...  I don't buy autographs online though because I really don't want Philip's Stamp of hypocricsy on my stuff...

BTW Josh I disagree...  I don't think he'll sell many subs down at the Dallas show.  I could be wrong of course, but to me I think selling this **** is hard for even the slimiest car sales man to pull off.  I wonder how many of those new subs earned by ANYONE in this cluster were actually "earned sales" as opposed to back scratching.

I dunno, this whole thing sure as **** is "fun" though!  Wheeee!

At $26 I may try getting one.  3 more Tact. Ops and a Pilot...  I can deal with that.

Anakin sucks but what are ya gonna do?   :-\

Hey Hasbro! / Re: "Spider" Grievous
« on: April 26, 2006, 05:57 PM »
I'll concur with the others...

SA Grievous with the right torso articulation would be quite able to pull off the spider-walk.  Grievous is one of those characters you just want that ONE ultimate version of.  One that has pop-off hands for his fight with Obi, has a cloth robe with saber hilt pockets, super articulated that blows away any other SA figure...  Even if it's a Deluxe figure, I'll pay it to get it.

Grievous and Jango Fett are two really snubbed figures for GOOD quality figures...  And both deserve SA deluxe type treatment (tons of accessories, etc.).

Saga Collection '06 / Re: VOTC/VTSC - Buying Extras?
« on: April 26, 2006, 05:54 PM »
I want extras for display, customs, and a number of other things...

Han w/coat, Han w/out coat...  There's 2 Han's right there for Endor set-ups.

Han w/out vest or belt for Jabba's Palace/Barge...  There's one or two more.

Luke I'll get only 2 of most likely.

Greedo I may buy 3 of...  I like him.  What I like about ALL the Greedo's we've gotten is they're all so differnet that you can bull**** them as all the various Rodians in the same outfit (more or less) around the films.  There were at least 3 at the Falcon SE scene alone.  There were 2 in the Cantina (Greedo being one), one in Jabba's palace htough he wears a Hoth vest like Leia's...

Biker Scouts and Sand people I just want a lot of.  More Scouts, but the Sand person is pretty perfect to me, and worth having 10 of if I can find him.

17594
It was uncalled for...  So let's keep the insults off the boards.  This stuff isn't gonna fly, so let it go.

The custom's looking good Paul...  One of the more unique customs in a while actually.  Creative and different.

Edit: What the hell is the base though?  I've looked high and low for good "animal" bases for customs seems to be difficult if not impossible for me.

17595
I've got packaging for sale...

-11 Evolutions Boxes
-2 (maybe more) EE Exclusive Clone 4-pack Boxes
-6 ROTS Exclusive clamshells & Cardbacks (Target Clones, etc.)
-VOTC Clamshells & cardbacks (varying conditions, not many left at this point)

Would like to sell these rather than pitch them...  VOTC items are pending too btw, but I'm listing incase they don't move.

Any takers here?  PM me.
