Nice score, Padawan! I don't think that set will get any lower unless the interests drop, which is unlikely. Do post us a picture as well as the Terminator sets. Now am I the only one here without the Early Bird set? :'(

Nope - I don't have one yet.  I've been waiting for the price to go down, but it seems like its just going up.

I myself would not mind at all if there were no SW Kubricks released from the prequels.  IMO there are plenty of possibilities for figures in the original, and it just seems messy in my mind to picture myself collecting prequel Kubricks.  I would probably end up going for them, but I definitely would not be very excited about them.  However, as it has been said before, they probably will do it.

My series 3 predictions were similar to OCB's ROTJ predictions - either an Emporer's throne room-themed set, or a Jabba's Palace-themed set.  It would be great to have a removable helmet Boussh! :D

I am surprised with the amount of focus on the vintage-style that Medicom has done so far.  They do seem to know what SW collectors enjoy most, and they are doing a great job of selecting releases so far.  As OCB said, they aren't afraid of those things (see above), and I think they just aren't afraid in general.  They know what collectors want, and thats what they make.

Padawan - that was the same Cantina member that I got two of in my case.  Does anyone have a close-up picture of the other instruments that the band members came with?

Early Bird set, vintage styled Boba Fett, blonde and brown haired Luke, and now the "Droids" R2-D2.  Plus, Medicom was brilliant enough to start off their regular series with the awesome complete Bounty Hunter set!  Pretty much every Star Wars fan's most desired lineup of characters, and they nailed it right off the bat.

I totally agree.  I mean, as I said above, those two reasons (nod to vintage and the bounty hunters) are what got me interested.

My comment quite a while back, was that when it comes to Star Wars, Medicom just "gets it".  They understand it.  They know the history of the Saga, and it's collectibles, they know what the fans would like to see, and they know how to reel in us crazy completists with the likes of those VHTF Chase figures.  Then, they go and do something even more cool, and toss in an Indiana Jones figure into some of the Han Solo boxes.

Yep, I agree with that too.  It makes me excited for what is to come, as this is only the beginning that we have seen.  I am assuming that the line is doing fairly well due to the continuity.  If it is doing well in Japan as well, then there will be some seriously cool stuff coming our way, and I can't wait!  Does anyone know how the line is doing overall (ie not just US sales)?

So how'd you first gain interest in this line Matt #15?  Run across a Kubrick auction on eBay?  Stumble into an "Other Collectibles" forum thread on them?  Make a trip to Japan and see them?

I saw the nod they made to the vintage Kenner line with the couple of carded figures they made - I believe it was only the original SW Luke and Boba Fett.  At that point I thought it was a really cool move of them, and that just drew my attention to the rest.  Someone on RS was offering a couple of the first wave for sale, and I always have loved the bounty hunter characters, so I sprung for them.  Then, I wanted to complete wave 1, and when DSJ showed me a picture of wave 2, that was it...hooked.  :)

guesses on Series 3...Vader's a given.  Too major of a character to ignore any longer.  I'd say the same about C-3PO as well, though it'd be tough to fit him into a "themed" wave like the previous two - but I'm sure he's coming too.

That sounds right...maybe they'll do a 2nd Bespin wave.  That could include Vader, 3PO, maybe Lando?

I'm most excited/nervous to see what's in store for the next Chase figure(s) though.  They're kind of like a scary movie - they frighten the hell out of you, but you still have to watch/buy it!   :P

I know *exactly* what you mean.  As I mentioned to Dale, opening the case of wave 2 reminded me of when I was a kid, and opening a pack of trading cards or stickers, and hoping desparately for the rarities.  8)

Cool, thanks for the welcome y'all.  They definitely are addicting little guys, and its cool to know some other folks who enjoy them.  :)  I did read a few of the pages to catch up a bit, but thanks for posting the pictures of the Endor set and the R2...pretty cool stuff.

For my guess of what is coming in wave 3, I would wager a set of characters from the ROTJ line.  We saw a set of ESB ones in wave 1, SW ones in 2, so it seems to me that some ROTJ characters would come next.  I was thinking a Luke Jedi, Emporer, Emporer's Royal Guard, possibly Vader, maybe a Biker Scout?  Thats what comes to mind, although that seems like too many Imperial characters, so who knows.  The other possibility is a set from Jabba's palace - some aliens, and the heros with Boushh and Chewy in shackles.

I'm glad to add another Matt to the party to get things even more confusing.   ;D

Hey guys.  I wanted to introduce myself as well, as I am finally biting the bullet and taking DSJ's advice to get myself into this forum.

I am a mostly vintage SW collector, but have taken an interest in the Kubricks, as I find them to be really neat figures.  I picked up a set of the bounty hunters initially, and then DSJ hooked me up with a case of wave 2, so that is where I am at with them.  Eventually I would like to get an early bird kit, but I am in no rush.  I must say that I had a lot of fun opening the case of wave 2 figures - definitely an exciting process!  I was pretty surprised to find all 4 Sandtroopers with the white pauldron, and I agree with Matt on that one...seems like a strange way to pack figures.  I am not really interested in collecting every variation, so its not a big deal, but it still is weird.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and I look forward to participating more on this forum.   :)
