I heard it through the grapevine that someone we all know recently got in a fight. Get well soon if you don't want to reveal to the world who you are ;) :-X
Anyway, ever been in a fist fight? I got into one in 8th grade with a friend of mine. He was constantly picking on me for some reason and I had had about enough. I told him to meet me down at the park at 3. I didn't think was going to show up, well he did. I had one of my other buddies there who wanted to watch. We started pushing each other and then I hit him in the face I think. He wound back and landed one right on my lip and cut me open...wide open. I had blood streaming down my face and he got scared and said stop stop stop. I was really bleeding and we got some ice (it was around this time too so there was still snow banks around) I probably should have got stitches but the cut eventually healed. Man did it hurt. I still have a scar on my lip which you can kind of see in my infamous picture...bottom left side

I always kind of work that scar over subliminally and it reminds of one of the stupidest times of my youth.
Me and my buddy patched things up and he never really picked on me again, we are still pretty good friends he is a Doctor in Chicago...perhaps I should sue him for emotional damage :P
I am sure Sarge has seen his share of brawls (maybe even been in one)

O yes I have seen my fair share. Most as an adult though. I stayed out of them in school but once I was in the military then I saw more than I needed. We were a competitive bunch and the rivalries between units and differnt branches lent itself to a few bar time adventures.
Then some A holes need to prove something to themselves or whatever.when they find out I am a former green beret. But the tats give that one away. That has not been a problem since I got out and moved back to Green Bay, but near the bases in KY and NC ,they were interesting. Also most people around the world don't care for US servicemen as much as we think they do.
Worst end I ever got was when myself and a friend got into it with 7 guys at a party. My face swelled up so much that my glasses started cutting into the side of my head.That was not a fun time. Never fight when you can hardly stand it wasn't pretty. I will tell you that if there is a way to avoid a fight do it but there are sometimes when you need to stand up for yourself.

As far as fighting goes, I punched one of my "sorta" buddies at Jr. High summer church camp, then pinned him to the ground until he cried. I believe it was because he lost my beach towel that I let him borrow to go to the pool. No one loses MY stuff!!! >:(
I've been jumped a couple of times before too. Once in Korea at a nightclub (in high school) by some Korean gang members. Came up from behind me while I was taking a leak in the urinal - never even saw 'em. There were 3 or 4 of them that worked me over reasonably well - but nothing major. They didn't like a white American guy strutting his stuff on their turf too much apparently... ::)
Got knocked around once in college at a party by a couple guys pretty good too. Fortunately, I was pretty hammered at the time, so it didn't hurt too much (until the next day that is). ;D Again, pretty much unprovoked - a dumb jealousy issue (I stole his beach volleyball partner from him - 'cause I was BETTER!)... :-\
That's really about it... Not much of a fighting man myself, but I tend to get folks a little agitated from time to time just by being me! :D

Unless you call some pushing and shoving a fight, then no, I've never been in a fistfight before. Which means I have no idea the kind of damage my tall, thin frame could unleash onto some poor sap. ;)

As for my Korean restroom experience, I was actually fortunate that didn't happen more than just that one time. I know a number of instances where that happened to other people I knew there. There was a pretty fair amount of anti-American sentiment around Seoul when I lived there for 3 years from '86 - '88. Too many of our army bases there, and they wanted them out! Wonder what the South Koreans think about that now...? :-\
My family wasn't affiliated with the military at all (business related), but I had a crew cut for most of high school, so I got mistook for a G.I. quite often over there! This oft mistaken identity fortunately garnered me a few "of age" privelages though when I occasionally visited the PX at our local army bases! ;)

Yeah, I got my ass kicked. I can't say I really lost, but when you end up getting your jaw X-rayd a week or so later, it's sorta hard to say anything but. :-\ I'll be okay... When I went to the dentist, I didn't understand anything she was saying, to be honest, she had me on the chair and talked over me and to my mom the whole time... I felt quite alienated the entire episode, since the only thing she said to me (besides the normal "say ah" stuff) was that I had "very nice teeth"... Hell, she didn't even show me the X-ray...
While the fight didn't cause the injury, it made it a lot worse, so, there ya go. All I'm taking is 300 mg of pain killers every few hours, since there's really nothing you can do about it.
My past fights were pretty stupid, but most fights are. Kids down here don't fight fair, that's the number one lesson to learn and teach... I've been stabbed by a pencil in the bridge of my nose, I've stabbed back w/ any and everything at hand, I've been hit by a folding chair (yes, like WWF), I've DDT'd a guy into the concrete floor of the boy's locker-room (yes, like WWF), I've been shot by a pelet gun, the oddities are pretty endless...
The dumbest thing I've done was when this guy locked me out of my classroom back when I was in Marksmanship in ROTC, he was a real ******* and I finally lost my temper with him. I punched through the glass window in the door, and nailed the little bastard on the nose as he was making a face at me on the other end... Oh yea, I hit him, but I sliced my index finger to the bone. Luckily the recruiters were with me and one of them had brought a Medic with him... Yea... I got about 5 stiches.... but I didn't cry. :P I'm a moron. :-*

I've been in a few fights when I was a kid and as an adult. I won some and lost some. The one thing that sticks out in my mind the most is when I was at a Chicago Bears football game, and I was about 22 years old and was drunk at the time. I was up in front of a urinal when I noticed this guy staring down at my you-know-what. I just kept doing my thing and he just kept staring there. I was starting to get a little bit uncomfortable and I said to him, "Got a problem?" He replied, "No I don't, but you have a nice package there."
Now, I'm not gay but I'm not a homo-phobe... I just don't like guys staring at me while using the washroom. I was extremely uncomfortbale at the moment. Want to know what I did then? I smacked him in the back of the head and his face smashed into the metal piping where you flush. Blood spattered all over the wall because I think he broke his nose. He then fell to the floor and I just said to him, "Have a nice day."
That's my most memorable fight that I was ever involved in.

I've been to two Vikings-Bears games at Soldier Field and let me say your story does not suprise me at all Chris. I swear there were 10-20 fights in the crowd alone so what was happening in the stands or in the bathrooms I can't imagine. Too much tailgaiting and wallowing in continued Bears misery can do that to people (BTW the Vikes won both games 1998 and 1999)

I haven't been in a fight since junior high, most of which were stupid anyway.
It's somewhat surprising that I haven't been in one in my adult life (not that I go looking for fights, my parents raised me to not start fights, just end them) considering the fact that I can be somewhat of an a-hole when I've had way too many to drink.

I'd like to volunteer to be the chief promoter of the first official JediDefender Fightfest!
On the card, I would like to pit JediMac against OCB (and yeah, it would be in a mudpit, and don't plan on wearing much clothing, you guys). Let me know if you gentleman would be interested. The pay won't be good, but you'll make me happy, and that has to be worth something to you. The rest of the card has yet to be worked out, but I shall post further bulletins soon.

I've never been in a fight my entirelife, (so far) and would try to avoid it, UNLESS someone threatened my wife and/or son. Then I'd go dark jedi on them. and hopefully not get my butt kicked or killed. :-\

Well, I think we're on two completely different levels of skill, experience, size, physical fitness, etc... Above all, Wayne has training... so I don't think he would have a very hard time kicking anyone's ass here at all...
Now, if it was made into a gimmick match, ie, Wayne has a hand tied behind his back, I might have a chance. 8)

I think it would be approaching fair if we let AngryEwok have an animal of his choice, although I would suggest either a snake or a whole bunch of bats, for distraction's sake. 'Cause, a lion or something might kill Reconsgt, and that's totally uncool.

I am also envisioning a match between Dale and Brent, two aging Canuckleheads past their fighting prime squaring off for the International Belt. I see there is no love lost betwixt them and being older they are crankier. Brent might go She Hulk on Dale though and grow some pretty large green...um :-[ :-*

OUCH!!! :o What'd you have to go and do that for Carrie?!? Geez... ::) Perhaps you (and Scott) weren't aware of this, but I already have FOUR scars on my head from busting it open on numerous occasions!
1) Smashed into a metal pole in a high-speed bike chase when I was about 10
2) Had a metal chair fall on my head from about 20 feet up in Jr. High
3) Bashed in the forehead in a high school basketball game with another guy's knee (while diving for a loose ball ala Kurt Rambis)
4) Can't remember the fourth right now (probably due to the first 3), but I know I've had stitches in my noggin four times total...
So don't think Scott's little non-existant scar there is going to scare me!!! Furthermore, don't be thinking I've been "ducking" this little bout with Mr. ICMG fanboy here just because I've been wandering the deserts of Arizona for the past 4 days (and have only briefly checked in during that time). Nuh-uh. I say bring it on! 8) The World Champion Lakers/Angels/Galaxy/Sparks (and almost Raiders) sports fan will knock the paltry T-Wolves/Vikings/Twinkies goofball right out of the stadium! ;D

Well, I guess if it's your wish and for your viewing pleasure Carrie, then I'm game. MAtt...I actually have 2 other scars on my melon as well, the lip scar being the meanest looking...one is on my ear where my dad cut the top little piece off while giving me a haircut when I was 2. The second above my left eye from running into a mailbox with my bike, the day after I got my training wheels off...

I got scars on my fists, that's about it. A small scar on my nose from being stabbed by a pencil... Another scar on my shin when I was shot with a 22... I think that's all.

My lip has a scar from when some b**** throw a rock at my face in grade school.
My back has three deep scars that should have gotten stitches but never did. Two came from when I rode my bike down a hill, flipped it and landed in a pile of broken beer bottles. The other came when the horizontal support board came off on my bunk bed and was never replaced. I sat up one day and sliced my back on the exposed nail.
I have a few scars on my head. One came when I fell down as an infant and smacked my head open. The other came when my cousin throw a beer bottle at a tree and it bounced back and hit me in the noggin. I'm still trying to figure out how the hell that one happened.
I have one on the inside of my right groin from where I fell off my bike and landed on one of the exposed handle bars. Yeah, that one was a little scary ;)
There are probably a few more. Let's just say that I was a rough and tumble kid.

Bout #4 dustrho versus the big cheese JediChris. Chris versus Chris, the loser has to go by Chrissy (or Christy). When something this big is on the line, the wildcat battle that would ensue is something I'd pay to see. Sort of like a retirement match but not really :-*

I had a eerily simlar biking accident to the groin. While going over a jump my handlebars twisted and I flipped and landed square on one of the grips. The grip had come off and exposed metal was all that was there and it landed square in my groinular region. Not sure if I hit the jewels or not but my mom was pretty worried cause I remember going to the doctor...I think all I got was a huge bruise

So Carrie, what your saying is, you want me to get in a ring with two gstring clad mud mavens, and watch them slip and slide all over one another until one manages to pin the other; then I am supposed to do the count?
Tell ya what C; if you supply me with about 9 pints of Guiness (off tap, not that bottled or canned crap), and a half pint of Crown Royal, and I might just be sloshed enough to consider it ;) Of course, as my drunkeness goes up, my usefulness as a referee will probably go down. I think I could handle the announcing though! :)

I had type alonged post about the three times that I have been in a fight but wasn't logged in and unfourtanetly lost it. >:( So here is the short verison.
I have been in three fights all in middle school. The first was when a kid was bugging me in PE class and I pinned him up against the gym and fought him. The second was when me and my best friend fought over some stuipid stuff and stuipid words were said by me about his brother who was serving in the Gulf (1990) and we fought. That day was when the bombing started and I felt awful. The next day I apoligies to him. The third wasn't really a fight but more of a somo (sp?) match were I was trying to knocked down the guy in my first fight to the ground and fight him on the ground.

So when does the female version of this little escapade happen?
Well, if you can do a couple of things for me, I'd consider participating.
1) Make time speed up and slow down according to my whims
2) Build me a teleportation device, that is especially effective between the Midwest and the East coast. And also between the Midwest and Europe.
3) Go to work in my place on the day I have to tell my beloved boss that I'm leaving her. Break it to her gently, and then prepare to have your ass kicked by a large German woman.

I was planning on staying away fom this thread, but for the sake of diversity I thought I put my two cents in.
Growing up outside of Los Angeles has been interesting, for the most point an average kid baseball etc. Struck out 19 in one game in seven innings, and averaged 2+ strikeouts an inning for a whole year, one of the few things I regret not following through on.
Then I moved to a new school, kids were bussed in from the inner city's at the time. I met my best friend at the time, who grew up in a neighborhood in South Central were one color was superior... you guess. Spent a lot of time down there with him and to make a long story short, I got in heaps of trouble. Several fights, arrests, etc...you guess how deep the rabbit hole goes, I don't want to incriminate myself too much.
The most memorable fight for me was when I was at party dancing with someone, and my friends went to run an errand. Low and behold the enemy came, "the night before a scufful broke out in which we defaced their car "a mustang" by sticking screwdrivers through the doors of their car's while craking them over the head....etc.
I didn't even see it comming, I got cracked over the head and lost my ***
Someone almost **** me with my own ***. That would have been a way to go out. I believe I had to visit the hospital that night, I can't quite remember though. I guess what my dad shared with me is true, "you don't remember things you do not want to, like which horses lost at the track only the winners."
12 years later after I am a family man with two boy's - the oldest will be turning 11 in two months, and I started collecting Star Wars again after taking them to see AOTC.
I thought I'd share this to show that there is quite a diversity in people who frequent JD.

I think nobody feels confident before a fight is he or she isn´t prepared for it. I mean is convinient to know self defense, be trained in a martial art (karate, kung fu, jiujitsu, muay thai, krav maga)
If you learn martial arts you are not a bully, only you are trying to prserve your well-being and of course adapting to another culture, way of perceiving life, etc.

Funny you bump this...I just talked to my buddy yesterday for the first time in about 6 years. I told him he owes me money for plastic surgery to correct my lip scar. He said I better watch it or he'll give me a matching one on the other side.

Last fight i was in was with my brother in law, in the middle of the street in front of his house. it lasted about five minutes of me blocking and him getting hit. I didn't want to fight him and still don't know why he came at me and asked " If I hit you will you hit me back". I was walking out of a friends house and on the sidewalk. It was around 9 PM and i had just taken a shower and had to run to my friends house to pick something up. When he started to swing it was almost in slow motion and I tagged him on the jaw. he ended up in the middle of the street and we went from there.He thought because he's about 20 pounds heavier he could hurt me. Hes about 5'10" 210 pounds.I used to fight about ones a month at school or the neighborhood. That was about 5 years ago, everytime he sees me he movies out of the way.My family is close We all live in one small dead end street, we are 6 kids and my parent. always together on weekends. 16 nieces and nephews. I have offed one other bro in law to kick the sh*( out of him whenever he wants and he better stay away from me.He has not taken me up on the offer.

I used to fight all the time growing up. I always had a real short fuse and didn't take too well to people picking on me. i still don't but I've learned my mouth is just as effective a tool as my fists/hands/elbows/knees are. I haven't gotten in a fight in years and believe to this day a bigger person is the one who can talk their way out of one. I take that back...as a teacher I get into fights from time to time, but it's more a case of breaking them up than being an active participant. That said, I have no problem getting into one. We are told to stay out of kids fighting, but I'll wade right through a pack to get in. Kids at my school know I've got no problem getting into their business and usually refrain from starting anything around me. However, few years ago at a different school, we had a series of fights all day that damn near lead to a riot after school. I broke up one fight and as I got a kid to their feet and was walking them away, they turned and hit me. That got their ass planted on the ground real fast.
I used to fight with my stepbrother all the time. He's a royal ******* and at 35 he still needs to get the **** kicked out of him. He was an only child while I had 3 younger brothers. He'd come over to my mom's/stepdads when I was in town (I grew up with my dad) and just start ****. Not to mention he was about six inches shorter than me. I'd listen to him bump his gums for a while before putting an asswhooping on. Add to that a bunch of fights in elementary, middle, and a few more in high school and I had a decent record. However, I never fought just for the sake of it, there was always a legitimate reason. Once in college I got drug out of a bar by some friends because I was in for he beating of a lifetime. I was so freaking smashed I could barely walk, was running my mouth to some jerkoff that said something to me, and he had a couple of friends with him.
I did law enforcement when I was in the military, so any "fights" I got into there were simply doing the job.

No, didn't shove the kid. I used one of the little holds I was taught through a district offered course for putting a kiddo on the ground. I'd never go offensive in a confrontation with a kid.

Got in one fight in High School, over a girl. Stupid reason to fight and looking back on it, it should have never happened in the first place. We each took our licks and I'm sure there are still different opinions on who 'won' or didn't. He hit me in the back of the head with a blunt object to start things off and I sent him to the hospital spitting up blood after it was over. I still have the scar on my lip to remind me about it. It will be a good visual aid when I teach my kids about what can happen when you get into fights...
I haven't gotten in a fight in years and believe to this day a bigger person is the one who can talk their way out of one.

Most of my fights in JR/high school were with rich white kids telling me to go back to Mexico.

I fought a lot in high school agaist the bullies I think it was natural cause they were very agressive and counted with the support of some teachers
With martial arts I solved that problem, gained confidence. Then as an adult I fought less times, but I consider man is always at risk of getting into a fight, no matter age, social condition, place.
When the incident arrives better to calm down and don´t forget to avoid demands that the response must be in proportion to the agression.
