Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Iron Man (Movie and Sequels)
« on: June 12, 2013, 11:20 PM »
Good review, I saw it last weekend and pretty much agree on all those points, especially re: missed opportunities.

If that's it, hopefully they let it stand as the definitive body of work. RDJ did a great job, and the movies are all pretty decent. I don't need to see these remade in 3 years with some other doosh.

I will say, I wish there was more suit time in 3, and more of a traditional "super villain" - he has yet to ever really face anybody with actual super-powers, but I guess that was by design.

Anybody watch Falling Skies last night?

Look's like a good season is in the works.  You could tell there is a bigger budget and there have been a ton of off-screen changes.  Looks like the writers may be trying to turn the show into a deeper/darker show with a lot more character development.

I spaced and missed it, but I love the show. Am hoping to catch it On Demand prior to the next episode Sunday night. Bummer we only get 10 again this year, but that seems their norm.

3-3 heading into OT, series is shaping up to be as awesome as advertised. Playoff hockey always seems to peak at just the right time.

Those are all the old BAD figures now in limbo right?

Hmm, no mention of CW Captain Rex I see. Still in limbo.

There should be an EU and CW slot in every wave going forward.

What he said.

I was re-watching the Krell arc last night and came away disappointed we never got a generic Umbaran soldier. That would be a bitch of a custom job too.

Plus it still irks me they released the wrong headsculpt on the AT-RT driver from that episode. THAT I can fix myself thankfully.

Comic Book Guy at my local shop confirmed Comic Series Wave 2 is due to arrive 6/26. Same date for the Governor/Penny 2-pack as well. Gonna be an expensive week!

Are Non and Ursa in it too?

That's a serious question!

I've had pretty good luck with SW toys at ROSS, but totally struck out on this Hobbit thing. Would have been nice, we have 3 that are convenient to my work/home locations. But I've given up looking at this point.

Yeah, we have a membership and shop for a few things there weekly - milk, bread, etc. Gas is always cheaper there too.

But yeah, checking out is absolutely dreadful. It's ALWAYS a complete cluster*** and there is NEVER a short line to look for. That alone makes the trip unappealing. My wife usually does that one.

Ouch. That was the proverbial heartbreaking knife to the heart.

Go Original 6 Finals! Come on, Blackhawks!

Maybe this will help pave the way for that long-awaited 70's style Power Man/Iron Fist movie. Calling Quentin Tarantino!

So, how long until we start seeing the remaining TCW figures on the pegs hit clearance? Stores gotta move 'em out before the next lines arrive right?

Would happily pick up a few more Phase I clones for customizing if the price is right.

Have finally been getting around to picking up some of the missing accessories I've lost over the years. I had catalogued a list months ago and am now actively in the process of checking them off.

In the past week or so I've picked up the Snowtrooper skirt, Gammorean Guard axe, Chief Chirpa's staff, and just last night the Emperor's Royal Guard Force Pike.

There are still a number left to go (Jawa gun, Biker Scout gun, a variety of imperial and rebel basters, etc) on my list but it's nice to be making progress.  :)

Pete, that is a well thought out hypothesis, but IMHO the audience should not have to fill in that many blanks. I mean, that is a LOT of fill-in, it seems to me. I think if the writing had been better they could have addressed a lot of those holes up front.

I kind of agree that it seems like they were working backwards as far as the plot devices.
