Modern Trading / Mint Death Star Briefing set - Traded
« on: January 26, 2007, 12:12 AM »
I'm pretty well up to date, but I went in with someone for 2 Death Star Briefing sets from EE to cut on shipping, but he backed out on me.  So, I have an extra one that I'm looking to recoup $45 ($39.99 + 1/2 $9.95 shipping) or get an equal amount in figures (about 6 new figures, need not be mint on card).  Since I'm up to date, I would be wanting figures from the anounced waves that should be shipping soon.  Oh yeah, or 2 Tantive IV battle packs.  Email me or PM

Traded --- It's gone

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Questions for Hasbro?
« on: January 18, 2007, 09:28 AM »
Hasbro:

I noticed that the hilt for the up coming Ceremony Luke is the hilt from Darth Vader. Is this just a case of a sample image with the wrong saber hilt? If not, why does Hasbro keep getting this wrong? (i.e. VTSC X-wing Luke also came with the Vader hilt). Also, the hilt in on the attached saber hand for the Ep. III Obi-Wan (which was made early on), but that should not be an excuse this time for another incorrect hilt.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Chief Chirpa
« on: September 29, 2006, 05:01 PM »
Another great review Jesse.   I do love Chirpa, despite his height also, though I haven't set him up side by side with any other ewoks.  I thought I had already read the response from Hasbro somewhere addressing the height issue.

However, if they already know there is a "perceived" value difference (the word they used), then why not offer 2 ewoks, as they have in the past (similarly with Jawas and Ugnaughts [sp???]).   There are still several vintage ewoks that still haven't been updated, so now that they have a new mold, they could have had a new head sculpt and used the same body, different paint application and new hood and updated Paploo, Warok, or the other vintage ewok that hasn't been updated.  You know we would buy up ewok 2-packs.   Like you said, ewoks have been underrepresented in the modern line.

By the time I got to order this yesterday at NFC, the buy two option was sold out. ???

I just ordered today and the single buy was sold out... I had to order 2, so, I hope someone needs one and wants to split the order.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Marvel Comic and EU 2-Packs
« on: July 23, 2006, 10:02 PM »
I have to say I'm not that all impressed, though I don't buy EU anyway.   It is a pretty bad choice to finally go back to EU figures but do cheap repaints instead of characters/figures EU collectors have been asking for for years.  But, it's a way for Hasbro to be cheap, turn a profit (if sold) or "verify" that EU figures don't sell.

Next thing you know, they'll put out a piece of craptastic plastic/cardboard for a diorama playset and when it doesn't sell, confirm playsets aren't profitable.

I'm just glad were finally getting the u shaped catina  ;D

Guess I forgot to say that.  I am thrilled that we are getting the u shaped part.  The only thing that would make me happier is if Habro made the entire bar piece as 1 piece (and a separate piece for the distellery in 2008).

I think this set is actually pretty boring. 6 Imperials and a Vader? Blah. I have Veers and ROTS Tarkin, and I think I'll have enough Imperial officers once I get Moff J. I really do like that A New Hope Tarkin figure, as well as the white shirt officer. I just think that the other four officers look very similar, and therefore very boring. I'm probably going to buy the Republic Commando Scene Set instead.

I guess that's why Hasbro has such a tough time figuring out what collectors want.  See, I see the Republic Command set as boring and just as tired of clone repaints as of the Jedi Starfighter repaints.  Maybe next Hasbro can give us stormtroopers in all the colors of the rainbow.  They already got me to buy a black stormtrooper that I've never seen in any movie for double the price of a regular figure!

The Vintage Collection / Re: The Hasbro Willrow Hood "Joke"
« on: July 23, 2006, 07:43 PM »
Man,  we collectors need to get a life!  I was very disappointed myself when I found out this was a joke, but come on people!   After reading all these replies, I agree, this was bad timing and a bad place for this joke.  Closer to April 1st would have made it more appropriate, though just a heart-breaking.   At least we know Hasbro is listening enough to know we want these figures - that's the first step.   I definitely would have bought these figures before many of the ones shown.   However, I also am getting to the point that I am done with prequel figures (well, for now getting quite sellective)..  I am tired of clone repaints, but I would buy boring figures like the Lars clan in a second.  Go figure.

I just hope the section doesn't come with one new figure and two old ones. Same with the distillery in '08.

Well, since they are numbered, I would think they would come individually carded.   But I did see this list on Galactic Hunter's Blogger section:

#70 Kitik Keed’kak (Wal*Mart Exclusive)
#71 Kabe & Nabrun Leids (Wal*Mart Exclusive)
#72 Labria (Wal*Mart Exclusive)

and based on the picture, I can't believe they would re-release figures that old on cards... I mean, look at Garindan that they just rescupted... they don't even compare!  These would make a lot more sense coming with the U-shaped section.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Imperial Officer 5 Pack
« on: July 23, 2006, 06:29 PM »
I'm actually glad no table or chairs are included. Look at the legs, how would they sit at it?

Also, how are we going to have to order this thing? Isn't it at some certain website? I never ordered the Diamonds Sandcrawler, and I forget where people got it from.

I'm actually quite disappointed that there are no table and chairs.  And... looking at the legs, I'm disappointed they don't have the articulation to sit.  I could care less about the blasters and although I wish they would have done a quality resculpt on Tarkin, I would easily forgive that if they had made table, chairs, and articulated their lower halves.   I mean, we don't see half of these characters do anything else in the movie, but sit at this conference table.  It's time we start demanding more articualtion from the action figures Hasbro puts out.   I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but instead of 1 joint stiff straight legs, I'd rather the conference table & chairs come with this set and have the figures preposed to sit.  We already have a Tarkin, Vader and Motti, which are 3 of figures we see outside of this room, so we wouldn't be losing much.   I know, this is not an argument I'll win here with anyone, but this is one scene I'd love to make a diorama of.  Guess I'll have to start checking out Niub Niub's making-of section to create the room, table, and chairs - even though the figures won't be able to sit.

Anyone see the pic of the Maul lightsaber at Comic Con?   My 6 year old has been asking me to pay whatever the going rate on ebay is ever since he found out there was a maul lightsaber.  My 12 yr old busted through both of the ones I bought him when they were originally out.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: R5D4

If there are however paint details I missed, it's simply because I'm not an R5 expert. :)

Neither am I and after looking at the side by side comparison with the missile firing atrocity, maybe that's why I thought there was a blue stripe above the 2 red panels.   I really don't know, but I guess I'm going to have to watch ANH now to find out.  Not that it really matters, but I do think it would look better with blue there, but I guess not if it isn't accurate.

Don't get me wrong Jesse, I am all for accessories and I know kids would have liked an utility arm coming out, especially since that was the sculpt they chose to reuse.   But, for me personally, I've wanted the complete Jawa Sale of the Droids lineup as far back as I started collecting.  And, since as you noted that 80% of this sculpt was already done for Hasbro, then I don't think it would have hurt to add any of the little small droids in there.   (Though personally, I would have loved the mining droid or resculpt Beru's treadmill droid for an accurate treadmill from the Jawa droid sale.   This is still one of my favorite figures from this year... along with most of the other Tatooine figures.   ;D

Well, there are two guess that would never happen.   I'm assuming this is more just wishful thinking?  I believe the quote on these BPs was, "Not unlike the previous Battle Packs, the 2007 assortments will feature four figures and a few small related accessories, and will utilize retools, repaints, and maybe even a new sculpt or two."   So, we probably won't see even 2 new sculpts in the same package.

Blue Battle Droid (ROTS repack)
Obi-Wan - new sculpt, SA
Qui-Gon - new sculpt, SA
Darth Maul - Evo repack
Darth Maul Speeder bike

and

New: Tey How
New: Daultay Dofine
New: Pilot Battle Droid
New: PK Droid

But, I would love to get a Tey How!   Anyway, even though I'm fairly certain the BP will go something like:

Qui Gon - Mos Espa
Obi - Naboo
Maul - Evo repack
[Amidala, Captain Panaka, Naboo Royal Security, Naboo Royal Guard]

But what I would like:

Queen Amidala (Battle with ascension gun) - never did find one of these
Security Captain - Captain Panaka with a different head and removable hat
Naboo Royal Security - new head sculpt and removable hat
Naboo Royal Guard - new head sculpt & keep removable helmet

that would be good for army building as well, except for Amidala
