Title: Naboo Wave
Post by: Jeff on July 23, 2004, 11:17 PM
Let's get this Thread started, baby!

Naboo Wave:
Rabe
Padme

:)

Mmm... Padme.

I love her.  She's great.   :)  Maybe Hasbro will surprise me and pull a Dignitary type thing where the handmaiden comes in two flavors, Rabe and Padme.

And maybe the Cubs will win the Series.

Yeah a head variant Handmaiden would rock for sure.

Her ceremny figure turned out spectacular from that photo.  Very intricate.  The statue figures are dull usually, and she is dull no doubt, but they made her as visually appealing as any Padme to date.

That Padme figure looks very well done.  Maybe not the most "exciting" wave of the year, but definitely some much called for choices, and if they are done as well as that Padme looks to be, it should be a good one.

Is it just me or does pablo jill's head look like an upside down gungan????
I swear thats what it looks like to me.
Have a close look at the pic of it and tell me what you guys think.

I may actually jump on that Version 2 case, since it has an extra Rabe and Wookie I can use for customs.  Hmm...

Three handmaidens in a case?

Almost makes up for the bungled VOTC assortments.

notice how neither case has 3x pablo jill? wtf??

This looks like a pretty good wave to me.  5 figures is better than 4!  And leads to less pegwarming.

Considering that there will be a case with just the 3 figures from the Coruscant wave, I think we'll still see a bit of pegwarming on Sly Moore and Yarua.

I agree, Rabe will end up being the hot one as a somewhat army builder.  Would be nice if they changed the head sculpt a bit midway through production.

Is this the first picture of Rabe?  Nice to see that she'll come in the Red/Yellow outfit with Naboo pistol and not the other outfit.

Looks good to me!  I want about 5-6 handmaidens, a handful of the Wookies and probably 2 each of of the others.

I'm more impressed with the Padme all the time. They've nailed Natalie Portman's size and demeanor perfectly. It's like a tiny Portman in there.

It's a bit hard to tell from the pic but Rabe looks a bit too light in color. Maybe its just the pic. I've been waiting forever for this figure so I'll limit my complaints.

I still hate the lazy card modification. That scene description thing on the front bubble is craptastic. Their choice of backgrounds are less than compelling, too. All those great shots of exterior parts of Naboo, all bright and full of color, and they pick the bland white Royal Starship throne room, and drop the throne directly behind the figure. Then they pick an outside shot of Naboo for Padme that has no contrast at all. Sloppy.

At last - at long last - handmaidens.  She'll pass for Padme.  Like Chewie, I'll buy many.   :)

Celebration Padme: perfect.

Yeah put me down for 5 Handmaidens and a Padme, I cannot believe it took them 5 years to do this obvious Army Builder.  I bought 5 Padme Tatooines on clearance this Spring to double for the Purple Gowned Handmaidens seen on Coruscant, 5 of these beauties will be just lovely!

Padme looks amazing, the list shrinks by one, there are 2 more must haves for Episode I (Return to Naboo and Pre-Senate) IMO, this was a huge one and another I can't believe took 5 years to get

Anyone else get a cancellation of Wave 1 from EE? It sounds like they're rolling orders into Wave 2... where the ratios are different, not bad, but not army-builderific like Wave 1 was.

Hasbro gets a case assortment right for once, and prompty cancels it. Good job, you tools.

I just got a notice that the case price went from $72.99 to $79.99

Thanks again Hasbro... ::)

$79.99?!?  :o

Cripes!

I guess that means that the retail on these suckers is gonna jump back up to $6-7 per figure!   >:(

I wonder if TRU/Target/Wally will jump before or after Christmas?

But, don't you see? That's the nostalgia part of the "Post-OTC" prequel figure line. Its designed to make you think back fondly to the days of Episode 1, and 5.99-6.99 figure prices. Hooray Hasbro!

Meh, I was excited about Padme but her paint apps are HORRIBLE.  Her face is not very good at all.  Same goes for Rabe (a face only a mother could love!) but her paint is pretty cool actually

Padme looks like she is bowling for some reason to me, its odd how she's articulated

Picked mine up today. Bless EE.

Scott, does your Padme have a lazy eye? Sort of looks like it from the pic. 2 of the 3 Padmes in the case had a similar look to them to your pictures.

I have to say the Sly is the winner of the assortment for sculpting. She's very well done, which wasn't expected.

They're all up on Amazon now, if anyone feels like paying a nice steep $7.99 for them.  :o Sounds like the price hike is damn real.

Ah, Naboo Wave, I was looking for this thread.  I was thinking more in terms of Post-OTC.  Anyway, I found these over the weekend, and they are indeed $5.88 at Wal-Mart.

My Amidala has a pretty good paint job (except for a pock-mark below the neck), and I like the sculpt of the costume.  Her feet can't really touch the ground past those robes, but I can fix that.  I'm not crazy about his head style, but overall it works.

I agree about Sly Moore - neat sculpt, decent movement of the arms for the robes, and a really good job on the face.  Its funny this will probably be the pegwarmer, just because I can't imagine the character will be that attractive.

Rabé - oh please!  Can there be a worse figure?  This is the cost-cutting result of an inbetween line of figures.  I'll just leave it at Blech!

Oh ****. I have egg on my face. The pegs still say 4.77 and I got rang up at 5.88. I had them give me my money back and made a big to-do over it.

Picked up two Pablo-Jill figures. One as an opener for myself and one for trade fodder. I like him.

Simple solution, figure stand.

She has a problem even with a stand.  At least mine anyways.  She wont even fit on one.  Either the one included or a realstand due to the heels on her shoes.  The pegs just arent long enough.  She slants too much when standing.

Thats pretty odd. I have heard some collectors shoot a glob of hot glue down, and stick their foot in it. It pops right off I guess.

Maybe that's a workable solution?

Stopped at Toys R Us today - 2 full pegs of Rabe. Had to be at least 25. A handful of Sly Moore and Yarua, but only 1 Pablo Jill. Awesome. Peg warmers already.
