Post by: JediMAC on January 11, 2003, 03:51 AM
Since I collect SO MUCH of the Star Wars "stuff," from many of the various lines, I decided several years ago to cut back and only collect Original Trilogy stuff when it comes to the Action Fleet (and Micro Machines) line.  It was a tough decision, and these new ships are making me seriously reconsider...  But if I started up with the AOTC stuff, that means I'd have to go back and get ALL of the TPM Action Fleet as well, and from what I've heard, there's some pretty HTF stuff in that line.  I dunno...  The obsessive compulsive completist in me is screaming DON'T DO IT!  I think I'm just going to continue to hold off on the Prequel stuff for now, but they certainly do look nice!
Title: Re: New Action Fleet Vehicles for 2003!
Post by: JediMAC on January 21, 2003, 02:50 PM
The fellas over at Yakface's Realm have posted the first pictures of the next 4 vehicles - in all new packaging!  They've got the Gunship, Spider Droid, and Anakin's and Zam's Speeders.  Very packaging friendly now as far as actual product visibility (100%), likely to persuade many people to not even open them up.  But where's the fun in that?   ;)

They look good, but I still haven't changed my mind as far as collecting the Prequel ships though...

I collect lots of action fleet, I have all the vehicles from the 90s even 2 x tie defender, e-wing and one virago(cool) I have all the transforming heads x2 (1 set loose 1 set boxed)
Still missing a couple battle packs and 2 die cast. I also have all the play sets including the transforming slave 1 and  star destroyer, 2 of the transforming death star. Tons of mini heads, vehicles and character packs....

I didn't grab many of the ep1 ones since i wasn't really exited about them, but have some of them.

I have got most of the new action fleet vehicles so far.

You can see some of it on this page http://www.dgm-laminating.com/koda/

Hey Koda -
Cool collection pictures!  You should slap a link to your site over in our Collections forum (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=17).  Those pictures of your excellent custom Gunship turrets at your site finally jarred my memory as to why your name sounded so familiar - because I remember dropping you a note in your thread at RS to compliment you on those a while back!  Nice work!  You should showcase those again over in our Customs forum (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=15) as well!

Keep it up, and we look forward to seeing more collection pictures and customs from you in the future!   :)

P.S.  Please give me a hollar if you ever want to part with one of those nifty Action Fleet Tie Defenders...   ;)

I just picked up the Gunship and Republic Assault Ship at Wal-Mart. I have the Slave 1 also that I picked up about two weeks ago. I really like these ships. I hope the line continues for a long time. I hope they bring out the ones that were planned a year or so ago.

Title: Dead yet again...
Post by: Jimmy on July 23, 2003, 02:53 PM
Scum posted some info on the AF line beig nixed again...
So I decided to send a shout to my HK source and he confirmed. He got word early yesterday.

Though Scum mentioned it being nixed til 2005 he said he had received no time frame for the comeback.

Yet again AF dies... Hasbro claims no retiler support.
Let's see... well d some genius decided to launch a dead line w/ a good majority of reissues no one gives a hoot about...

X-Wing
Vader's TIE
Falcon
Naboo Fighter
Snowspeeder
AT-AT

Genius move on Hasbro's part. I mean the E-Wing, TIE Defender, Jabba Barge are still incredibly high in demand... Nevermind the releases that never saw light.
Calamari Cruiser, Deathstar...

Granted those were due for release  this time out... but haaa bak to the junk pile.

Let's give Hasbro a round of appluase  ::) ::) ::)

Yeah, I saw this coming for a while. It sucks that we wont get the ships that were due out, they were some of the ships I was most looking forward to.

At least it will free up room for other stuff. Maybe ditching that, more stores will be apt to get the screen scene sets (at many WalMarts in my area, they had the trash compactors and AF in the same spot, and switched back and forth)

Hey Matt...
Thanks for moving. As you can see I was soo po'd that I posted in the wrong spot... and have hellish typos in the post  ;D

Between the (what I'll call for now) rumor of the blue Clone bust and the AF news today I was just a tad bit agitated.  ;)
Title: Re: Dead yet again...
Post by: Darth Broem on July 24, 2003, 09:36 AM
I was afraid of this but knew it would happen.  I agree with the above.  Why the heck does Hasbro launch a new line with so many reissues???  Duh!!!  It's just like the Cantina Sets.  I think AF and the Cantina sets are very nice but why start off with ships or figures that the majority have allready?  I know the reissued ships are highly recognizeable but it just kills the enthusiasm.  It's too bad because some nice newer stuff seemed to be coming down the pipe.

Maybe a few will make it out for 2005 with the little figures to boot.
Title: Re: Dead yet again...
Post by: Snively Bandar on July 27, 2003, 07:16 PM
This is a very unfortunate development.  Does anyone else recall what ships and Battle Packs were still on slate to come out?

Obviously the Death Star and the Star Destroyer come to mind, but what else was previously announced and due out in the future?  I agree that starting the line out again with all the stupid rehash/rereleases was a completely stupid move on Hasbro's part once again (like the Cantina sets).  Who the heck is in charge over there that's making all these ludicrous business and R&D decisions?!   >:(
Title: Re: Dead yet again...
Post by: Nicklab on July 27, 2003, 07:34 PM
Drat, and double drat!  I was hoping to get the Mon Calamari Cruiser this time around!

And not to leave out the fact that I never even saw the Republic Assault Ship wave, either.  Was that officially the last wave to make it to retail, or did the Jedi Starfighter and Homing Spider Droid make it out, too?
Title: Re: Dead yet again...

Now that bites. Nothing new for awhile.  ::)
Title: Re: Dead yet again...
Post by: Jimmy on August 3, 2003, 04:35 PM
And already the last wave is starting to climb in price...

All seem to be going in the $35-40 range and I have seen the Gunship as high as $50  :o

Can you say another E-Wing/TIE Defender/Sailbarge situation?
Title: Re: Dead yet again...
Post by: Jedi Idej on August 3, 2003, 05:49 PM
It's not like Hasbro to only make a small batch of any ship. There has to be more than what little has shown up at retail. Hopefully the remainder is just stuck sitting in some warehouse in the Far East and will eventually be distributed.

Btw, I noticed that prices for the older AF, which had dropped in recent months, are on the rise again.

Well, I'm gonna try scoring the last action fleet wave in Chicago this coming weekend.  That's right up there on my list.

Post by: Jimmy on August 3, 2003, 08:26 PM
Nick... Gimmie a holler I'll see if I can help you out man...

I doubt there's a ton more sitting... if any.
It was a tough wave but if in fact there is more they should be available to order still through Hasbro.

I can't see some of the online retailers passing them by if they're there to be bought. I can find out more and let you guys know what I get back on them...

I actually saw this wave twice. Not much but considering many never saw it once... that's not too bad.

Hell I customized a Gunship into a CW version... added a whole lot to it... Speederbike in back and all  ;)

I'll get some pics up soon
Title: Re: Dead yet again...
Post by: JediMAC on August 5, 2003, 02:06 PM
I've seen the Gunship/Slave 1 wave 4 or 5 times myself, so right there I have to put it light years ahead of the Tie Defender/E-Wing/Sail Barge wave, which I only found 2/3rds of one time.  Guess I'll pick these up in case anyone needs them if I come across them again.  Saw them several times at Walmart, and Disneyland's Star Traders shop had them in stock at least a couple times that I stopped by there as well.  No idea what they'd cost there - probably about $15 each, but would anyone want them for that price if they show up again at D'land?  Just LMK, and I'll snag 'em there if they restock...

Now onto the topic at hand.  It's definitely disappointing to see this great line die out yet again (or get put on hold indefinitely).  They've got no one to blame but themselves though.  Starting out with all rehashes was NOT a wise marketing decision...   ::)

I'm very disappointed to not be able to snag the few remaining OT pieces, like the Calamari Cruiser, Death Star, and Star Destroyer.  The latter two of which have been floating around for quite a while, as they were shown at Toy Fair at least 2-3 years ago...  Why didn't they start the AF line up again with THOSE instead?!?  Idiots, I tells ya'!

I was also hoping they might've re-released the Tie Defender (along with the other VHTF ones for everyone else).  If they're going to do rehashes, why not some of those?  At least the Sail Barge, which came from the movies, then toss the two EU'ers in there shortly thereafter.  They would've sold like hotcakes!  I can never figure out why Hasbro makes the decisions that they do.  Lots of missed opportunity and profits on their part, as usual.   :-\

I do have one hope for the line...

What do folks think of something LIKE the Trophy Series, but with Action Fleet sized vehicles?   Pack it like a big Deluxe or something, with a similarly themed basic figure.  Like....

Star Destroyer with Captain Needa
Death Star with a new Tarkin
Mon Calamari ship with a new Ackbar
A-Wing repaint with a new A-Wing Pilot

Thanks Jimmy.  I'm gonna be in Chicago, so I'll keep an eye out for you guys.  I got the email today.

Hey Nick...
Unfortunately I won't be making the trek to Chi-town but Tom will be there as you can see.

I'll check the warehouse today to see if anything's left though in case Tom doesn't bring any to Chicago.

I'll put whatever I see aside for ya  ;)

Ok, so it's nothing to get overly excited about but Toyfare magazine exclusive Dagobah X-wing in damaged box for $14.99 (http://store.yahoo.com/wizarduniverse/lukesxwingdam.html)

Hey, I may order one, others might want one too.  I open all my AF so it looks like a good deal to me.

Oh no, no party pooping at all.  I knew the line was dead, for the time being at least, if not forever.  Just wanted to let people know that the Dagobah X-wing could be had for a little cheaper.

Thanks for the interesting read though :)
Title: Need a partner in selling AF
Post by: BigDumbWookiee on January 17, 2004, 11:13 AM
I think I'm going to sell my Action Fleet and maybe my Micro Machines. The biggest factor that has kept me from selling them thus far, is that I have all of the AF figures and all of the MM figures all together in boxes, and not with the sets they go with. As such, I have no idea what goes with what.

If I can find someone, preferably close, I'd like to team up and get help in selling my stuff. Basically I want someone with a good knowledge of AF and MM, they would sell the stuff, then I'd share what is made with them. Either that, or perhaps I can just find someone that wants to buy the entire lot. I dont have any of the super rare stuff that saw limited release, but I have close to everything else. I can try and make a list if someone is interested.

Would appreciate the help! Email me at aclowe@tds.net if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Title: Amazon Action Fleet sale, inlcuding VHTF...
Post by: JediMAC on January 29, 2004, 01:09 PM
Just caught this news over at RS.  Amazon's got the entire 2002/2003 Action Fleet line up on their site, including the VHTF Slave 1, Republic Gunship, and Republic Assault Ship.  Unfortunately, it looks like these three aren't available right now/yet.  Not sure if they already sold out or what, but it's probably worth keeping an eye on this link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/102-2691834-1106540) to see if they come back in stock...

Good luck!

I saw that, and I hit the link to send me an e-mail ( to my home e-mail) if the Slave 1, Destroyer (or whatever it is) and Gunship come in stock.

If you find out they come in stock, please order me 1 of each of these 3 and I will reimburse you.  I remember the GL you have with the TF Vader.  I'd probably miss out on this.
