Coming soon to toy shelves near you....Indiana Jones toys are sure to take over the shelves at stores everywhere! We've unearthed a "Ticket to Adventure" program that will require collectors to gather together several artifacts they will need to seek out lost treasures and add them to their own private museum. Stay tuned for more as the mystery is revealed.

I'm assuming this is some mail-in offer along the same lines as the retro-vintage mail-aways in the last couple of years.

Interesting, call me crazy but i wish the mailaway, if it is one, is a Nazi figure. Seems like it would be the only way to get a figure of one which is too bad since they are essential parts of the story.

A German figure's been pictured already.  Unless you mean someone specific like Toht?

A mailaway for Dr. Jones Sr. would be neat  :)

I can only assume Hasbro will continue it's appreciation of countries other than the US and show that by screwing us out.  Again.  Sorry, but I'll find help most easily, but many don't have that option and it's frankly silly that they can't set it up so we can mail into the US addy as well and they ship out to us.  Make the costs higher if need be, but still do something to accomodate people.   :P

Wow, three different offers?  Cool beans...

it's frankly silly that they can't set it up so we can mail into the US addy as well and they ship out to us.  Make the costs higher if need be, but still do something to accomodate people.   :P

Ask and ye shall recieve, I guess.   :o

It's hard to make out the details, but if you look close you can clearly see "($xx.xx CAD for shipping address in Canada due to higher shipping cost to Canada)" or something to that effect... :)

From what I can tell, it sounds a lot like the recent SW vintage give-aways - each figure line will have tabs.  You collect the tabs, add a check and mail it in.

Looks like you need 6 tabs for the 3.75" and AH offers and only 4 for the 12" scale Ark.  Also looks like the tabs need to be from the thing in the offer, meaning to get the 12" scale Ark, you need to use tabs from 12" figs (and not tabs from 3.75" line or AH line).

Also looks like the 3.75" offer is $5.99 ($7.99 CAD), the AH offer is $4.99 ($6.99CAD), and the 12" scale ARK is $9.99 ($12.99CAD).

Smart move to have them line specific because I'd actually like to have the 12" scale Ark but I'm not planning on buying any of the 12" figures.  Ah well, it is fair.

If anyone is collecting extra tabs of the Adventure Heroes, I wouldn't mind getting the Indy on horse, but don't plan on collecting the AH figures in general.  I've unloaded most of my Galactic Heroes except for some core characters and sliding Indy on his horse into that display would be nice to do.

I guess its a smart move on their part but i would have liked to have gotten the ark anyway. Dont plan on buying the 12 inch though.

I may bite the bullet just the the adventure heroes mailaway and pick up a few sets.

As for the basic line i will def. be mailing away for that.

Yeah, I meant from Hasbro's perspective, definitely not from ours.  That big-ass Ark would have been a neat piece to have.  In certain respects it is kinda nasty from their perspective to the actual 12" figure collectors though.  Surely it could have been a pack in with one of the Indy figures or in a deluxe package, like the 100th Luke Skywalker figure was.  Ultimate Indiana Jones 12" set or something to that effect.

BTW, is Sideshow doing a 12" line of figures for Indy?  If so, I wonder how quickly the Hasbro side would die out?  Collectors seem willing to part with $50 from a direct release but I doubt if Hasbro prices these close to that margin in stores that many will move.  Certainly parents are unlikely to get them for the kiddies (though I don't really believe the kiddies are going to be huge into an Indy ROTLA figure anyway) at a $40-50 price point when a 3.75" can be had for $5-6 or so.  So I guess the question is whether Hasbro will even succeed with this line?  I think the Adventure Heroes will be a hit with younger children and collectors alike.  I think the 3.75" line is destined for success with the adult collectors and maybe a flush of sales from the movie release when the toys inundate Walmart and kin, but the 12" line?  Meh.

Frankly, I'm really surprised that there's even going to be four different SKUs in Hasbro's 12" line to begin with.  I figured just the one, kinda like the vintage line.  As far as waves go, it's gotta be a one-and-done thing.  (Or maybe two-and-done, although that doesn't rhyme, and, as such, doesn't sound as good.)

If I had to guess, I'd say we'll be getting either one or two Indys (depending on if the Indy we saw in San Diego comes with a jacket or not), Mutt (Shia's character) and either Spalko (Cate Blanchett's character) or Marion (they wouldn't do two different female characters, would they?)  I'd bet on Spalko before Marion.

Anyway, very cool news on these mailaways.  Even without seeing them, they already sound a lot better than the lame ones we got in the VOTC promos.  For me, the Adventure Heroes is a given, the 3 3/4" is a probably, and the 12" is a wait-and-see.  I'd imagine we'll see a lot of these type of posts, soon after launch day:  FS:  Four 2008 Indiana Jones 12" figs (http://thisisafakewebaddress.com), from people who don't care about Hasbro's 12" line but just want a 12" Ark, for whatever reason.  But that's all kind of dependent on what Sideshow does.

(And I guess, with Arks confirmed for the AH and 12" lines, I guess it's all but guaranteed that we'll be getting one in the 3 3/4" line too, huh?  The only question is how they'll deliver it--maybe in the Deluxe line or maybe even packed in with the Desert Convoy Truck or something.)

Man, if they've priced these over $25, they're done before wave 3 ever gets there.

As for the ark in the 3.75" line, I'll gamble on it being in a playset of sorts, probably (logically) a rehash of the well of souls.  I just can't see them NOT releasing it some way.

Speaking of playsets, I'm wondering how many, if any they'll release.  Well of Souls, Streets of Cairo, Map Room Adventure and one from the Crystal Skull would be logical choices.  Wonder about any more?  Wrong thread mind you.

I always send these mailaway things with delivery confirmation because i am paranoid. I checked the status and they said it was "misrouted". So they basically lost it. They mentioned it was found and trying to have it sent to it's location as soon as possible.  ::)

I was reading my form last night for the basic figures.

It says that you can use any combination of 6 stickers as long as they are all from the basic figures. so you can't use 12" stickers or Adventure hero stickers to get the Crystal King figure.

It appears that Hasbro has figured that some people out there are going to but a lot of the soldiers and such to army build and don't want to limit their ability to get the mail in figure.

I agree, Brian.  As soon as I saw it in the film I started calculating in my head how much that would cost to do a dio!  Too much.  If that's anything like some of the older mail-aways from the Star Wars line, though, we may be able to score some for $5 or $6 on eBay in a year or so.

Don't we need 12 of them for a full dio? That's 72 stickers!

Post by: evenflow on May 23, 2008, 06:02 PM
That was my logic for asking for extra stickers. I wouldnt mind getting 13 of them (i think it was 13 not 12) I dont think it is realistic to get all of them but i am going to try and get a few

You know what's funny? I was thinking the exactly the same thing as the rest of you: "how the heck am I going to swing getting 13 of those?!?"

I've got enough stickers and forms to send away for four and my fifth certificate is short two stickers.
My current army builder counts are:
German Soldier x4
Russian Soldier x4
Ugha Warrior x4
Cemetary Warrior x2

If I upped my Cemetary Warrior count to 3 which is the number in the movie, upped the other three to six of each and I was already planning on picking up a second Dovchenko to put at the controls of the Jungle Cutter vehicle - those additional eight figures would bring my certificate tally up to six complete certificates.

I know that relics and stickers will be coming with the Last Crusade and Temple of Doom Waves and both of those have six figures each so that would bring my count up to 8. I think I'm going to buy extra Thugee Soldiers from the ToD wave, but even if I picked up only six of those, that would leave my ninth certificate short one sticker.

So even if I grabbed an extra Indy or something, I would still be short four Crystal Skeletons to complete the dio.

I have to say, before seeing the movie, I thought Hasbro had kinda blown it with the mail-away figure. How wrong was I?!?!

Post by: Greg on June 1, 2008, 11:48 PM
Hey everybody. I have a dilemma of sorts. I want the Crystal Skeleton Alien figure, but I don't want to open my neat little cardboard boxes. If anyone has extra stickers that they don't want and are willing to spend $0.41 to mail, I'd be glad to take them. If it helps, I have Star Wars Capt. Rex POPs to trade. Please PM me with any offers/donations. Thanks in advance.

This may sound wacky, but in order to get more stickers you could always buy duplicates, keep the stickers and resell the loose figures as a set.  Odds are if you have a full series you'll get maybe 75-80% of your money back, maybe more, which really makes getting a bunch of stickers relatively inexpensive.  If all went relatively well I don't doubt that you could complete a diorama of 13 Crystal Skeletons for less than $150.  I could be wrong, but that's just my opinion based on all the buying and selling I've done in order to populate our Toy Database.  Usually I get around 80% or so back on the Hasbro stuff.

I completely lucked out the other night on RebelScum.  A guy posted looking for a trade of 6 Skeleton coupons for 4 Ark coupons.  Made the trade and today got the 4 stickers and the form for the Ark.  So I didn't have to buy all those 12" figures.

I already have one set of 6 for my own Skeleton and will have enough for at least one more when the wave 3 figures hit so I'm pretty happy with the deal.

I upped the number of army builders I have from 4 to 6 for the German Soldier, Russian Soldier and Ugha Warrior - in two of these recent purchases, I guess the stickers had stuck together when the worker was putting them into the cardboard "crate" so instead of gaining six stickers, I actually scored eight stickers.

I'm up to seven complete certificates now.

I've actually picked up more Indy figures than i thought i would when I found out some of the cool relics that were packed in like the grail tablet.

I'm about 1.5 certificates complete, but I plan on getting a few more figures. I got a $50 Target gift card for my birthday so I'll probably end up using that to get more versions of Indy. Only reason I'm getting the Cairo Indy is because of the Grail Tablet, and I'll probably end up getting the basic Marion for the Staff of Rah... sigh.

Just a heads up that I've been finding the Last Cursade wave lately and NONE of the figures come with Ticket to Adventure order forms (the relics still had the stickers, however). So if you're saving up for 12 skeletons, save the order forms from the Raiders and Kingdom figures.

I got my Indy w/Horse set in the mail yesterday as well.  Neato box, like Jeff posted earlier.  There's just something about getting a "free" figure in the mail.

I came home this morning to find my Crystal Skeleton figure waiting in my mailbox.  It's significantly larger than I expected it to be, standing almost double the height of the other Indy figures, and has really good articulation (I was honestly thinking it would be in a permanent sitting position), with SW-style ball shoulders, elbows, and head, 25th Joe-style double jointed knees, ball-jointed hips, and swivel waist and head.  The box is HUGE compared to other mail-away figures; the figure and throne are held inside by a plastic tray and easily removable rubber bands.  My box was a little dinged up, but the figure and throne were in perfect condition.

does it come carded, or whit box with plastic baggie? Do you have pictures for the rest of us to see?

My Skeleton came today!  It's a really nice piece.

It's not carded, there's a plastic tray in the box and the throne and skeleton are packed separately in it.  You can take them both out and put them back in without damaging the tray, which is a nice bonus.

I should be sending off for another one here in a day or so.  Still haven't received my Ark yet.

Post by: Brian on August 19, 2008, 09:29 AM
I received the skeleton figure yesterday as well.  As others have said, its not carded, just in a plastic tray inside one of the "crate-styled" mailer boxes.  My box arrived smashed beyond comprehension, with one end basically entirely open - but the figure/throne were just fine, so no big deal.  It is a pretty nice figure overall though, and there's more to it than I expected.  I don't feel "ripped off" with the shipping/handling on this one, as it really couldn't have fit in the basic Indy line.

My Ark came last night. It's a pretty impressive piece.  I knew it was going to big but it seems a little too big for the 1:6 scale figures.  Might match up with the Sideshow Indy a little better.

It surprised me because, being free, I figured Hasbro would skimp on it rather than make it too big.  Still, very cool item and I'm glad I was able to pick it up.

My 5th one came in the mail. I still have to open my TOD figures and mail those stickers away. Between the 5 I have, the 1 I have mailed away for and the one I still need to send away for I am going to have nearly the 13 needed for the final scene. I think I might get rid of all but 2. I really don't need 7 of them.

This may not be the place to ask but does anyone have any of the Ark stickers to come off of? I'd love to have the ark but I'm not all that interested in the 12" figures themselves. Check my up for trade list for star wars trade items. I've got crystal skeleton stickers but I'm not sure how many of those I have to trade.

Since they already extended it once (original date was Oct 31st), it's not outside the realm of possibilty that they would extend it again if they are sitting on piles of left-over mail-away figures...

I'm hoping so.  I passed on it, well, more properly dawdled/dragged my butt and didn't mail in the forms.  I really would like one or two of the skeletons and would love to get the large Ark and the Indy/horse too.  But I haven't bought any of the Adventure heroes or large figures, so the latter two are unlikely.

Title: Re: Ticket to Adventure Mail-Away Offers

On Monday, I entered a question to Hasbro Consumer Affairs through their website re: the Crystal Skeleton offer.

I sent away for a total of twelve of them and had yet to receive a postcard letting me know that I might (or might not) actually get them at some point.

Anyway, after a couple of days, I got a response from Hasbro to my question which essentially said two things:
1) they confirmed that I had 12 skeletons on order
2) that they had sent me a post card notifying me of the delay

Ok - so the first part was welcome to hear - that my 12 certificates and payments had made it to the order processing center and that 12 skeletons would eventually be coming to me.

The second part was a bit confusing, since, like I said before, I never received a post card. Turns out that they probably meant that they sent me a postcard about the delay THAT DAY, 'cause guess what arrived in the mail today (Saturday) - a postcard!

For anyone who hasn't gotten one of these yet, here's what it says:

Quote
We have received your redemption request for the Indiana Jones Crystal Skeleton collectible figure. We received more requests for this figure than was originally forecast, so we had to place an additional manufacturing order. Due to this situation, we will be unable to ship the figure(s) to you until June 10, 2009. If you don't want to wait until then, you may cancel your order and receive a prompt refund by calling our toll-free customer service number, (800) 327-8264. Customer service hours are M-TH 8:30am-5:00pm; Fr 8:30am-12:30pm. If we do not hear from you by May 15th, 2009 we will assume that you have agreed to this shipment delay. Please DO NOT call the toll-free number unless you want to cancel your order. We thank you for your patience and apologize for the delay.

If this is redudant and everyone already knew this I apologize. I had not see anywhere the shipping date for the "additional manufacturing order" of these, so I thought posting the card's message might be some welcome news to anyone still waiting on these.

Considering that these things go for anywhere from $10 - $20 on eBay right now, for me to have sent away for 12 only to ask for a refund now would just be foolish since so far I'm only out $72 + the costs of the money orders I used. To get 12 on eBay right now would run me anywhere from $120 - $240 BEFORE shipping. No thanks, I'll wait two more months for my Crystal Skeletons.

Thank goodness the call-to-action statement on the postcard is only to CANCEL your order and not the reverse, asking you to call to confirm you still want the figures you ordered. Hopefully there are quite a few figures coming in this batch and scoring a 13th one to complete my Akator throne room will be cheap.

I wonder if they have that "new" factory that was making the Indy figures making anything else before they shut down Indy line operations? It's wishful thinking I know, but I wonder if they're cranking out those Wave 5 RotLA figures for an upcoming exclusive offering?  ;D

I'd heard of others getting the post card before but I hadn't seen one till yesterday.  I got the card also.  I'm waiting on 6 or 7, I think.  I'm definitely letting my order stand because while I don't think I'll ever end up with 13, having at least six would still make a decent half display for the figures at some point.

I got a postcard over the weekend too.  I just think its interesting that Hasbro had a lackluster response to this offer initially (i submitted my request by the first due date) so they extended the offer, only to run out of figures. :P  I figured that would have at least processed the initial receipts before extending the offer, but apparently that's not how Hasbro rolls.  Still, waiting another month or five is fine with me.
Title: Re: Ticket to Adventure Mail-Away Offers

So if they're getting more, are they taking more orders?  I still have some finished forms lying around here.
Title: Re: Ticket to Adventure Mail-Away Offers
Post by: efranks on April 13, 2009, 08:26 PM
I think they made enough, or close to enough, to fill all the orders by the original date.  But after that date they probably hadn't gotten as many responses as they thought so they exetended.  Then the line died and a bunch of the figures went to deep clearance at multiple stores and suddenly there were a lot more stickers on the market.

I wouldn't have sent for as many skeletons as I did if I hadn't bought a bunch of figures for $3 or less.  I think I even have enough left over coupons that I could have sent for one more but I didn't get the last two till after the second deadline.

I doubt they're still accepting orders but worst that would happen if you sent one in is that it would come back.  I actually should have mailed in more Captain Rex orders after that got extended but didn't.  Forgot to do it by 3/31.  I wonder if that's too late now as well?

Hello again - I received a post card that indicated the Crystal Skeletons would be mailed on June 10th.

Can someone please let me know an updated status on these?

To which they replied:

Thank you for your email.

Please be assured you are still on the list to receive the twelve figures. Unfortunately, the fulfillment house has not received inventory yet.

As soon as the figures are available to send, they will be sent.

We are very sorry for the delay and appreciate your understanding.

So I guess the reason for the delay is that the fulfillment house still hasn't received them...

Oh well, I guess we wait...
