Well, looks like we're only half way through (at the very least) with these silver, vac-metallized figures apparently. :'(
GH is reporting that the Mexican convention exclusive will probably be a Silver Boba Fett, most likely available later on through the Fan Club/WOTC/Insider/whatever... They're also reporting that a Silver Clonetrooper is on tap as well, for a promotion similar to the Silver R2 one that ran a while back at TRU. These are both supposedly due out on similar types of cards that the Vader and R2 were on.
Not quite sure what to think about this really. If either of these winds up being anything close to the Vader fiasco, heads will have to roll. But if they're available in Silver R2 type numbers, then I should be able to stomach it. Either way, it's already giving me a total headache just thinking about it... :-\ Sure to be a cool figure thought!
EDIT: Now that this is no longer going to be a Mexican Convention exclusive (as originally rumored), I got rid of the sad face for the message icon. Hopefully we'll all be able to get a hold of this figure with relatively little hassle... 8)

then some people will have a new layer:

A silver Clone Trooper? Cool.
-
Why a silver Clonetrooper though? Weren't these silver figs meant to be "Anniversary" type figs? The Vader and R2 were for the 25th anniversary of Star Wars, the Fett is the 20th Anniversary of ROTJ. So whats the deal with the Clonetrooper? Is it for the 1 year anniversary of AOTC? ::) I think I would much prefer a silver Stormtrooper than Clonetrooper. At least it would keep up the OT theme going of silver figs.
-
I agree with Chuckles on the Stormtrooper versus Clonetrooper issue. And Hasbro better release that Boba Fett in the states.
-
all i know is that their had better be plenty of these silver Fett's to go around to every single collector, so ican at least get one. if not i'm selling my collection!!!
...maybe!!
-

Well, if that happens then please put me on the top of your list, so that I'm first in line to get a shot at your collection. ;)
-
Riddle me this, where in the hell is my silver Jar Jar? Huh?! Or what about my Wuher? Pote Snitkin? Come on, these are the figures that truly deserve the vac metlization treatment!
-
I certainly hope you're kidding about the Jar Jar figure there! The whole purpose of these silver figures are to honor the 25th anniversary (Darth Vader and R2-D2), and this time it's suppose to be for the 20th anniversary of ROTJ. I understand why're they're doing a Boba Fett version, but I don't have a clue why they're doing a Clone Trooper. Should have done a Stormtrooper, Gammorean Guard, Jabba the Hutt, or maybe Luke Skywalker for the anniversary special of ROTJ.
-
Boba Fett would be my choice.
A silver Jar Jar? (http://adwoff.com/ubb/graemlins/bigbarf.gif)

-
Yes, I do want a silver Jar Jar! If they are making silver AOTC figs, I want a silver TPM fig...
;D
In case that one emoticon didnt stress that point:
I kid! I kid!
-
A silver 12" Boba Fett would be sweet!
-
A silver 12" Boba Fett would be sweet!
That would be like an Academy Award.
-
IMO Fett is not that bad of a choice considering how many collectors dig his figures. I like most of us just hope that he is available, I read somewhere through the SW Fan Club. Anyone here know anything about that?
-
The president of the Mexican Fan Club claimed that, but it was more or less denied by the official US Fan Club. Guess we will just have to wait for an official statement on StarWars.com.
-
I really don't care too much for these, I have a Silver R2 and he is cool, don't have a Silver VAder and don't care that I don't The exclusivity of Convention type exclusives (see Muppets and MOTU lines) borders on asinine IMO. Same goes for Mr Sacul as well
-
Well, I'm a comletist so I'm going to get these one way or another, but it's frustrating to say the least that Hasbro's doing this... I think the silver-plated figures will look nice as a centerpiece to the collection but they're really just being made too difficult to find in some respects.
I hope we see some change in availability... Maybe a one per customer rule instead of 2 as was with the Vader. That might help somewhat.
-
I like the new silver figures but I only have R2.
-
Another hard announcement to stomach here. I've got the silver R2 and would love to get the Vader as well, but probably never will due to the cost. I think the silver figures on the retro cards are actually pretty cool, but the distribution of them is what really sucks. Hopefully the fan club can come through on this figure and hook us up with it, and hopefully in much greater numbers this time around as opposed to that Vader nonsense.
Why are they doing a silver Clonetrooper though? That seems dumb. I like the idea of these figures as being "retro", and therefore from the original trilogy. Please Hasbro, don't start up with the silver treatment on the PT figures also! In fact, let's just have the Boba Fett be the last one. Or maybe just a Stormtrooper to round the set out, but that's it! No more!
-
I have both the silver R2-D2 and the Toy Fair Vader, and I love these figures. I'm against the fact that the silver Boba Fett is going to be limited only to the Mexican convention, and that figure will be a couple hundred easily once it hits eBay. I don't own a Sacul figure, but hopefully one of these days I will.
-
Everyone is really getting worked up over the Silver Fett (if in fact that's what it is, and while I believe it is indeed that figure, I will still contest that it has yet to be officially confirmed). I feel pretty confident that we will be able to get this figure, inexpensively, through other means. I've heard a few very trustworthy remarks from some people that are involved directly with a group that could help us get these figures, but Im not going to say what, or who, I dont want to start anything ;)
So, dont worry too much at least until its released :)
-
Well, since I was fortunate enough to get Vader and had lots of help getting R2, I "need" to get the Fett so the set remains complete. I like the Fett idea, but clonetrooper? That's not a misprint of stormtrooper is it? The latter would probably look pretty sweet. I really like the cards they are on. Very nice.
-
Hasbro is supposedly planning on doing the Boba Fett and Clone Trooper "silver" figures. I still would rather have them do a Stormtrooper versus the Clone Trooper, because these figures are to represent their 20+ year anniversaries.
-
This is crazy. I have see afew pre-sales sell on eBay for $300. They just keep coming out of the wood work. Insane.

Well, looks like slightly better news on the Silver Fett's availability now, since it'll be at four U.S. conventions, as well as the Mexican convention now. Plus the Fan Club will be taking orders too! So hopefully the production numbers on this guy will be decent enough to satisfy all the collectors out there. $10 bucks a pop.
Looks like I'll definitely be hitting the San Diego Comic Con now, and will likely be scrapping my Mexico convention travel plans... 8)
-
I can't believe how much money those Silver Boba Fetts are going for on eBay. That's crazy, and it hasn't even been released yet to the public!
-
I'd like to go ahead and throw my hat in the ring for anyone who can spare one of these.

Yes, it's nice to see that for those of us not making these particular con's that there will be a chance to buy one on-line.

i just found out that the silver Fett is going too be sold at Origins in columbus,oh just twoo hrs from where i live. so come june 26th i will have two silver Fett's in my possesion, thank the heavens!!!
-i think the force is finally on my side!
-
Sounds cool to me.I like these figures alot.Looks like I'm going to have to join the damn Fanclub again tho to get mine.Something I really dont care to do again.
-
While I want a carded set of these for my loose collection's centerpiece, I really have an itch for 2 of the Fett because he's a relatively neat looking figure that I think may be just as neat loose.
Hopefully these won't be much of an issue to get at the Fan Club... Vader wasn't, not to me anyway. I just called them up a couple days after the 2nd mention of them being made available and ordered one.
I'd love to see more impressive exclusives come the Fan Club's way though... How about "grey" jumpsuited Imperial Officer figures? All 3 heads if possible... I'd be pretty ecstatic to see that made available through them...
-

Maybe, maybe not. I've never been a member of the fan club. The price to be a member in Canada is rather absurd, particularly after exchange. I no longer remember the exact amount, but it ran somewhere around $75 or more. Too steep for me.
That, however, has never stopped me from ordering anything from the fan club. I'm not sure why, but I've never had a problem. Got most of the EU stuff through there. The fan club exclusive four, Wuher and even the stormtrooper 4 pack. Maybe they have a rule for foreigners ordering, I have no idea. I just hope I haven't jeopardized that ability by saying this.
I have to have this Fett. I have Vader and R2, so I must have this guy. Hopefully I can luck out with the fanclub again (unless anyone wants to volunteer to help me ;)). Or not.
-
On page 7 of the new Tomart's Guide it talks about these two figures, availability, and more.
-
>The price to be a member in Canada is rather absurd, particularly after exchange. I no longer remember the exact amount, but it ran somewhere around $75 or more. Too steep for me.<
The price is $28.95 USD for the US, and $39.95 USD for Canada. At today's exchange rate, that's $55.25 CAD. I wish it could be lower, but the Canadian Postal Service doesn't let us take advantage of the special magazine postage rate that the US Post Office offers.

You're talking about the Official e-commerce site run by Wizards of the Coast - their license allows them to sell items to members and non-members alike. However, the Fan Club is now run by Paizo Publishing. Items on our site (starwars.paizo.com) are available to Fan Club Members only.
For those of you who have reservations about joining the Fan Club because of past experience, please be aware that it's under new management, and we've been working hard to make it the best it has ever been. We've brought back the membership kit for the first time in years; we brought back Bantha Tracks quarterly for members only; we've increased the amount of collecting content in the magazine, including a regular "Toybox" column, where, this month, Hasbro's Andy Espenshade revealed the first photo of the Unleashed Boba Fett. We've been working hard to deliver more fan interactivity, which you'll read about soon right here at jedidefender.com. We hear every day that the Insider is better than ever, and we're working to make it even better than that.
You can visit starwars.paizo.com for mroe details - including the first photo of the convention Fett figure.

A thing of pure beauty it is, I tell ya'! :o
And I'd also like to give a big JediDefender welcome to Vic Wertz, who has honored us with his presence here in the JD forums! As most of you probably already know, Vic is the head of product development for The Official Star Wars Fan Club, and at the top of the food chain over at Paizo - the publishing company of our beloved Star Wars Insider magazines!
So thank you very much for joining us here Vic. We look forward to having the chance to offer our input to you, and to hear your thoughts and insights on all things Paizo, Insider, Fan Club, or otherwise Star Wars! 8)

So is that the shadow of the skull behind Fett??
Sure is Beth! That all-too familiar one from Fett's shoulder armor. I believe I've heard that it's a Bantha's skull, but I may be mistaken. Either way, a very cool, yet subtle, touch to this great piece! Can't wait to get mine!
-
Welcome Vic Wertz! Nice to have you here.
Please keep sending stuff in to the wonderful staff here are JD. We will all look foward to seeing future posts.

Hey Vic I saw in another site (rebelscum) that you were saying that the fan club may set up a fast line for Fan Club members with they Fan Club Cards. Do the cards have to be filled out with our FCM # or would having the card be enough, I ask because I lost the paper with my # on it and I plan on going to Comic Con in San Diego this summer.
And the Fett looks great.
-
I actually have a rather similar question to Tom's here, and that's that I'm a Fan Club member, but have no idea where my Fan Club card is (or if I ever got one for that matter)... ???
I'll be in attendance at the San Diego Comic Con as well, and would obviously like to come prepared, but I don't currently have my card or membership information anywhere that I know of (and I'm in the middle of moving right now too, which doesn't help matters).
So Vic, is there any way of getting a replacement card, or any type of official Fan Club member confirmation that I could bring along to the convention to prove my status? I'd imagine a fair number of FC members will likely be in the same boat as me with this particular issue here. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Meanwhile, I'm going to go home and start searching through my TONS of Star Wars boxes, in search of my Magic Star Wars Badge (member card)!
Also, is it safe to assume that there will be some type of "checking off" of the members who have received their allotted 2 Fett figures, so there's no unfortunate repeats of the previous Jorg Sacul distribution fiasco at C2, where a lot of people bought many more than 2, while a lot of other people were unable to get ANY. :'( I really hope the Fan Club takes this into consideration so that everyone in attendance will have an opportunity to get their fair share... 8)

Yes - we also mentioned the possibility of the express line in the press release, but I think people were too excited to notice. You don't need your member number on the card - we know many people want to keep them in mint condition. However, if you do want your number, you can find it on the mailing label attached to the magazine's polybag.
Keep in mind we're not promising the express lane will happen, but we'll try to set it up if traffic patterns allow.

No no no no... It's not a Bantha Skull!
-
>have no idea where my Fan Club card is (or if I ever got one for that matter)...<
I think you'd remember... it was part of the 2003 membership kit, which you can see at http://starwars.paizo.com/. It's high-quality plastic - like a credit card - with a photo of Yoda from Ep II.
2003 kits went out to people who subscribed or renewed starting in July of 2002, so if that's you and you didn't get your kit, please drop a note to starwars@paizo.com. By the time the convention season starts, the vast majority of current members should have their kit; the only exceptions might be people who are expiring very close to the start of the convention season who haven't renewed yet. Those people will need to renew to get their kits.
>Also, is it safe to assume that there will be some type of "checking off" of the members who have received their allotted 2 Fett figures<
To be clear, convention sales are not to Fan Club members only - any convention attendee can buy the figure. After the convention season, sales through our website will be members-only.
We will be punching badges as we sell figures.

Nope, definitely never got that kit. I renewed just a month or so before Paizo took over last year (if I recall correctly). Plus, I never got any of the Fan Club membership kits or goodies, other than when I initially signed up many years ago (and one time when I mistakenly let my subscription lapse a few years ago and had to re-up). I NEVER got anything when I simply renewed my membership every year or two, which always bothered me a little. I think I'm due for a renewal pretty soon here, so hopefully I'll get the cool Paizo kit at that time...

Excellent. This is what I was getting at. I mispoke above, and meant to say "attendees at the conventions". So this is good news if you'll be punching badges. That's perfect, and should help more/all people to get a shot at purchasing this figure at the show(s)...
Thanks for the info Vic! Guess you should be expecting to see my renewal fees show up on your desk pretty dang soon then! ;)
- Matt
No no no no... It's not a Bantha Skull!
P.S. Brad, if that's not a Bantha skull there, would you please be so kind as to refresh my memory on what it actually is?! Hollerin' "no, no, no, no!" does very little to enlighten me, other than to make me think it's got something to do with Ewoks - due to your excitement there! ;D What is it, a Yuzzum? Rancor? Krayt? Wampa maybe? I give up, so spill the beans! :P
-
I had been toying with the idea of going to Wizard World in Chicago. I've never been to that show, or Chicago. So, this figure might've sealed the deal.
It's supposed to be a great show. Hasbro's going to be there, showing off some new goodies. Plus, an exclusive? They had to twist my arm!
And if I do go, and the Cubbies are in town, I might just have to catch a game at Wrigley field.
-
> I NEVER got anything when I simply renewed my membership every year or two, which always bothered me a little.<
Yep - there hadn't been a membership kit in years. As soon as we took over the Fan Club, it was one of the first things we brought back.
-Vic.
.
-
I'm really glad to see the added availability for the silver Fett figure. Though I doubt I'll be able to get to any of the conventions myself, it sounds like many people will be able to, and that's definitely good for a lot of the collectors out there. Hopefully the Fan Club gets a nice supply of them in afterwards to satisfy the rest of us who can't get one on the convention route.
And welcome to JediDefender Vic! It's great to see you visiting this site as well now. I know you'll get some good input from these guys (and gals)! Best gang around the net from what I've seen so far. 8)
-
Here, here, Snively! As a Fan Club member, I really appreciate it if this Silver Boba Fett is indeed made available to the membership who can't attend the summer conventions. The East Coast does seem to be getting the cold shoulder in the conventions that were selected:
Origins
Columbus Convention Center
Columbus, OH
June 26 - 29
Comic-Con International
San Diego Convention Center
San Diego, CA
July 17 – 20
Gen Con Indy
Indiana Convention Center
Indianapolis, IN
July 24 - 27
Wizard World Chicago
Donald E. Stephens Convention Center
Rosemont, IL
August 8 – 10
Why isn't the Fan Club going to be at Wizard World in Philadelphia? That seems to be a legitimate question to me.
-
Unfortunately, Wizard World East is set to happen before the figures are even in the country.
-Vic.
.
-
Thanks for the answer, Vic. I appreciate you coming to forums like this to share some info.
I guess that brings up one point of concern for most fan club members who can't attend these shows. How does the Fan Club intend to market the Silver Boba Fett's after the summer convention season? Will the Paizo site be offering this figure, or will it be available at the old Star Wars Fan Club Online Store?
-
How does the Fan Club intend to market the Silver Boba Fett's after the summer convention season? Will the Paizo site be offering this figure, or will it be available at the old Star Wars Fan Club Online Store?
Looks and sounds to me like it's going to be the "new" Fan Club (Paizo) that's going to be getting these in and distributing them, and not the old WOTC store. 8) That's a very positive sign that the new Fan Club is now moving into the "figure" related product realm, like many of it's members have been hoping to see. Hopefully this might lead to some Fan Club exclusive figures sometime in the future, like several of the previous cool figures we got a number of years ago. I'm sure if/when that happens, Vic will be right here on the spot to let us know! :: fingers crossed ::
-
Yes - the figure will be available through starwars.paizo.com.
As for the other comments, we hope that a magazine column and an action figure are just the beginning of our relationship with Hasbro.
-Vic.

Greetings Vic, thank you for the response to my comments. I'm pleased you took the time to address those points I brought up. It was indeed an unexpectedly pleasant surprise.
The price is $28.95 USD for the US, and $39.95 USD for Canada. At today's exchange rate, that's $55.25 CAD. I wish it could be lower, but the Canadian Postal Service doesn't let us take advantage of the special magazine postage rate that the US Post Office offers.
Thank you for a reasonable explanation. An $11 premium is something I can (well, have to) live with, given I live in Canada. As opposed to some organizations (hello, KB?) I am pleased to see that the fan club recognizes Canada is not on another planet (excuse the little side jab).
You're talking about the Official e-commerce site run by Wizards of the Coast - their license allows them to sell items to members and non-members alike. However, the Fan Club is now run by Paizo Publishing. Items on our site (starwars.paizo.com) are available to Fan Club Members only.
Well there you go. Now, here's my challenge to you as the new "owners" of the fan club. Offer me enough from the fan club, that I can get no where else and I'll not only join, but also renew my membership in future. You'll see my membership shortly given the scenario that I face with the Silver Fett. Inevitably, it will be cheaper for me to join the fanclub than to head off to the secondary, non-collector market to get the Fett. But I will be watching you in the future ;)
And a good start that is. Hopefully this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship ;D
-
Vic,
as a member of a Canadian Star Wars board, might I be so bold as to extend to you an invitation to post at that board? The site is called Snowtroopers and can be found here Snowtroopers (http://pub23.ezboard.com/bpotns62893). The main page is found at http://www.snowtroopers.ca
I believe a whole lot of fellow Canuckleheads may be suffering from the same misconceptions as I am/was. A brief explanation over there about how Paizo will operate. I know the folks that run that site would be more than pleased to see you there.
cheers.
-
>Offer me enough from the fan club, that I can get no where else and I'll not only join, but also renew my membership in future<
I'll try.
>A brief explanation over there about how Paizo will operate.<
I don't mind participating in an existing thread if it warrants, but I'm not comfortable with creating a new discussion about Paizo myself; it's a little too close to unsolicited commercial posting for my comfort.
I watched this board for a couple of weeks before I decided that I had something to say that everybody would want to hear.
-Vic.
.
-
I wasn't a member for a long time but joined not too long ago after the switch. I didn't join because of any exclusives or anything, but because I really like seeing what other fans are doing and what crazy people we all are
-
I'll try.

Fair enough. I'll start a thread over there, you feel free to join in if you like. I appreciate your point regarding unsolicited advertising, however, this is the fan club, something we are all supposed to want to be part of, so I think the rules are a little different. Regardless, I'll respect your point of view and if you choose to comment, great, if not, no worries at all.

Just saw this posted on the main page of RS. The Silver Boba Fett will be available this weekend in Columbus Ohio at the Origins Con.
Note: This will be limited to 2 figures per person per weekend, not per day & your passes will be punched when you purchase your 2.
RS Main Page (http://www.rebelscum.com/)
Have at it gang. Go get him & good luck. Soon Adam, soon. ;)
-
If Ohio were a bit closer to Chicago I'd probably drive there. Thankfully I'll get my shot at this at the Chicago convention.
-
I just saw the Silver Fett on the main page and it looks awesome. What would be the best site to buy one of these.
-
Just wait until the end of August and get it off of Paizo's site. Given you may have to join the fan club to do so, but I'd say the $28.95 is well worth it. Thats what I am doing anyway.
-
I'll pay around $25 for it.
-
I did mean the Fan Club membership, for $28.95, which will get your a Silver Boba Fett if you act fast when they become available in late August.
-
That's the cost for the fan club membership though, yes Cory? Cost for Fett will be additional I believe is what Vic indicated? Still, unless you're at a convention where you can get them, far and away the cheapest deal on this item, plus all the regular perks of the fan club. Good deal methinks.
-
Thats what I finally decided. Whipped out the plastic and charged $28.95 to join the F.C. Now I feel "official". It gets ya 8 issues of the Insider, membership card, Bantha Tracks, postcards, etc. Not to mention, first dibs on Silver Fett when he goes on sale through the F.C, which is additional, yes.
Still, it's better to subscribe to the F.C. than try and get someone to get it from a convention, or worse yet, pay eBay prices.
-
eBay prices are through the roof. Anywhere from $40 to the outrageous cost of the Pre-Order of $300. The going rate on eBay right now is around $55.
I seen one on there for $48. sitting there for a couple of days & some bidder that saw one just posted for $65. Bin'd it. He didn't even check the cheaper ones. ???
Madness I tell you, madness. ::)
Has anyone got the Fett from a convention yet?
I sure hope I get one. ;)
-
I haven't gone to a convention yet, but I do plan on going to the one in Chicago in late August. I am going to get two of the Silver Fetts, but they're both sticking with me (sorry everyone!). I'm keeping one carded and one loose.
I can't believe the prices on eBay though... outrageous! :o
-
Those are some great Silver Fett pictures up in JD's Origins coverage right here (http://www.jedidefender.com/origins.php)! Nice job Boba Binks! Looks to be another cool silver figure, but since none of the conventions are anywhere nearby me, looks like I'll have to wait for the Fan Club to issue them online. Hopefully that goes smoothly for all involved. Sounds like the new ownership is on top of things, so I expect it should be a pleasant purchasing experience.
So I guess there hasn't been much follow up word on the Silver Clonetrooper as well lately. Just that it's apparently going to be offered very similar to the prior Silver R2 later on in the year, I guess. If anyone's got more details than that, give a shout!

That's ridiculous! Just to think that if you spend $20 on Star Wars Hasbro products at TRU, you'll get one of these for free. Who knows when they're going to do that, but it's still going to be free.
-
I still don't get this. Why a clone trooper and not a stormtrooper? It just doesn't make any sense. Yes, yes, in the grand scheme this is the precursor to the stormie, but I thought the point was the celebration of the movies, not the character.
I know I'll end up with one (or more) of these, but still, I would be so much happier if it was a stormtrooper. :-\
-
It's all about the 25th anniversary of Star Wars, so a Stormtrooper woudl have made much more sense. I, too, don't understand why a Clone Trooper was done, but I don't work for Hasbro either.

Technically not, since Boba Fett was originally from ESB (please don't mention the Holiday Special). But I agree with the sentiment. Seems we should at least be honoring the OT here, but ANH most of all. A Stormtrooper would've been perfect, and one of the few decent remaining choices to be "silverized". Too bad.
Honoring the Clonetrooper, or even AOTC, with the vac-metal at this point is just silly since the movie and character don't really warrant it so soon. Kind of degrades the rest of the "silver line". I wouldn't want to pose the silver Clone next to the other 3 silver figures myself.

Well the guys up here in Canada are finally receiving there Silver Fetts.
But not to there liking! Reports on Snowtroopers are coming in that they are getting hit with a $21.55 CDN UPS bill on top of the $7.00 US for delivery.
Not very good IMO, especially when the Santa Yoda is coming out! :-\

I have not seen these at all, but when I do I will be sure to tell you. I have heard some reports that some one bought 4 of them at their TRU for 4.99 each!
But the wait is almost over for these Silver Clones!
I am guessing that TRU is going to re-stock all their Star Wars stuff too.
Cause when the silver R2 was offered. TRU had all the new waves there. So I am really looking forward to this baddi!!!

Someone also brought up that the Silver R2 was available at Amazon.com for sale during the TRU promotion time-period. Maybe it will happen again with the Clone.
-
That would be cool! To buy lots of the Clone Troopers, what an army builer!

This was indeed true, but it was rather pricey. I ordered six at the time. $9.99 each but no other way to get them in Canuckada. And worse, Amazon does not ship toys past that imaginary line on the map.
I'll be needing help on these, unless amazon comes through again.

These showed up at a TRU near me this fine day for $4.99 hanging on pegs with every other figure I guess. They're on their way. Yay!
*sigh* These things are boring... Oh well. A complete set of silver figures, I think, will be sort of neat.
