Title: It's A BOY!
Post by: Scott on September 26, 2003, 11:32 AM
Those who didn't do so hot in math...the equation in the title means that me and the mrs. are having another baby!

She is due in mid-April and we went to the doctor the other day for the first time...heard the heartbeat and everything seems to be doing well.

Funny story, for those who followed my car buying saga a few months ago and teased me about the mini-van.  We actually signed the papers on the Camry two days before we found out the big news.  So maybe the van would have been in order :-*

JediMAX is oblivious so far, to young to know what is going on, he'll be 2 when the baby comes which will be very nice methinks.

Just thought I share some good news :-*

Listened to your elders, you should have Scott  :-*

Congrats to you and Mrs. OCB!!  Keep us posted when the little padawan arrives!!

Sweet!

Tell the missus to go for the 14th, that's my kids birthday.  And have a girl, they're a blast.  Yeah, I know, you can't plan those details.

And don't worry about the van.  You won't need it until they start playing soccer, so the camry will serve you well.  BTW, did I tell you my dad drives a Camry?  He's 74 :-*

Congrats Scott  ;)

You need just one more now to catch up to me  :-*

They're a blast even though sometimes you could... well... moving on...  :)

As for the van... well we did that plunge and got a Nissan Quest a few years ago... actually looking into a new one soon... Maybe the "tricked" out version w/ all the goodies they offer now (LMAO)

I'm just waiting until the wife tells me she's ready for kids.  I need to justify all the toys I've been buying lately ;)

Slipped another one past the goalie, eh?  Great shot kid, that was one in a million!  (at least so far as the sperm goes  :P)  Now that I've got my witty banter out of the way...

Congratulations to you and Jenni!!!  I've very happy for my proud papa buddy!   8)  Way to go Scott!  Now step aside and let Jenni take care of the hard part...   :P

Funny story, for those who followed my car buying saga a few months ago and teased me about the mini-van.

Now who the hell would be so cruel as to tease you about something like that...?   ;D

BTW, did I tell you my dad drives a Camry?  He's 74 :-*

Now that's funny B!   ;)

JediMAX is oblivious so far...

So Uncle JediMAC wants to know what names are potentially on tap for the young tike, so as to stay the course with the "JediMA_" naming theme?  Mazeroski, perhaps?  Or does that name not work so well for little girls...?   ::)  Hmmmm.....  Color me stumped.  Girl's name starting with MA, that can be abbreviated down to just 3 letters...  Anyone?  Anyone?   :-\
Title: Re: OCB = Dad^2
Post by: JediMAC on September 26, 2003, 02:54 PM
OK, after pondering the naming issue for a while, Scott - I think we're going to be stuck with Madeline.  JediMAD.   8)

That work for you and Mrs. OCB?   :-*

UPDATE...

The time is fast approaching, with the due date within the next 3 weeks.  She's doing fine so far, getting really tired, right on for weight and measurement.  Doctor said today could be anytime between now her due date in mid-April.

Got the nursery all done, the car seat out of storage, names are still being kicked about and have even changed from the definites we had a few weeks ago.

I'm guessing its a girl, my wife is guessing boy but I think she really wants a girl and just doesn't want to say anything.

I'll keep everyone posted as to when the big event happens :)

If it's a boy, Jesse, Cole, and Sean are wonderful names (Me and my brother's names  ;D ).

Just had to get my plug in there...  hehe  Anyone who knows the Jesse/Cole link gets a free handshake if they ever meet me too.

Happy Birthing of a Child to you and your wife...  Or simply Congratulations.  It's much easier to say, and likely won't get me smacked by the one actually doing the birthing thing.

Kids aren't my bag, but more power to you for having a family and being a father Scott because I admire those who do it well.  My brother Sean's had enough kids to last me a lifetime though, and I've had too much of a hand in raising the majority of them.  I'm all kid'd out and at a young age, haha.  :)

Older by 3 years...  It's a really unique and nice name Scott, consider it...   ;D

***Shakes PL's hand***

My parents had a weird decision making pattern, but the best I can say is that my father has a biker personality and that's where the names came from (though cole's middle name isn't Younger but mine is James...  Odd).

Anyway, I'm still pimping me and my brother's names to Scott.  They're cool names...  My mom says so.

I thought when I seen this thread bumped back up that she had the baby... still have a few weeks to go though.  These last few weeks seem to drag on FOREVER!!
Best wishes for a safe delivery.

Just one question, are you gonna pass out cigars or toys??  ;)
(I'll take an unleashed Slave Leia since I don't smoke).

....and speaking of Leia, if you have a girl that is a cute name.  For a boy I'd go with Jeffery.  You need those Y's at the end of names so when you are yelling for them, you can carry that last sound until you run out of breath.  Just a thought from a Mom with teens :P.

Since the baby will pop out during the start of baseball season, you should give him/her a baseball-related middle name.

"Balco" has a nice ring.

added: sometimes-mr. anal's word of the day, "should"

Just one question for you Scott (I am expecting in July)...

Have you completed the "Honey Do" list yet?

I am close, but as I near completion, I foresee a new list  lying in wait. A father's (or father to be's) work is never done...

I need to...
- put the day bed frame back together after I painted
- install 2 baby gates
- hang a curtain rod (after painting the room)
- paint dresser (I stripped and sanded)
- move and/or relocate misc. items and boxes and furniture
- clean up the garage

etc?..

"sigh."
Title: Re: OCB = Dad*2
Post by: Scott on April 3, 2004, 03:00 PM
I'm pretty much all set on the Honey Do List...

#1 Bought a Family Car
#2 Painted the Nursery
#3 Set up the crib
#4 Put in new windows in the Nursery (and J-MAX's and our bedrooms)
#5 Moved all of my misc SW crap downstair from the Baby's Closet
#6 Hung Curtain rods and curtains
#7 Painted and fixed all of the trimboards from fixing the windows
#8 Got out the old car seat
#9 Got out all of the old clothes
#10 Gave my wife many back rubs

Really we're ready to go, I still need to pack a bag and that's about it.  She's packed and so is the baby...

Jenni practically tied Patty's best friend, who had her baby yesterday at 2:05pm (beat you by 40 minutes), and was eight days overdue.

How's JediMAX taking the new development?  And how the heck are we going to appropriately nickname an "Erik".  That doesn't fit my naming scheme...  I'll have to think about it.

One other thing...we had what is called a waterbirth.  Jenni labored and gave birth in a large bathtub filled with warm water.  I got to be in the tub with her which was an awesome experience...we got to pull him up out of the water and find out the sex, it was great!  It was really nice for her too, helped with the contractions and labor immensely (that is why I am wearing swimming trunks)

I've heard that those are a better way to go, and my gf and I are planning on going that route when the time comes (gotta get married first).

;D ;D ;D  CONGRATULATIONS SCOTT!!!  ;D ;D ;D
