From UK etailer Forbiden Planet (http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_550_861&products_id=50609):

"The X-wing fighter has become the symbol of the Rebellion. Swift, reliable and highly responsive in battle, this rugged craft is capable of absorbing plenty of damage in combat. X-wings have flown in all the major battles against the Empire and are the preferred fighters of Rebel pilots. In the bustling Alliance hangars, X-wings are prepared for another battle with Imperial fighters, as pilots and technicians check engines, instruments and weapons. One Alliance pilot, Wedge Antilles, flew an X-wing in the Battle of Yavin as Red Two and as Red Leader in the Battle of Endor."
-
Pretty cool looking, but is it me or did Wedge break off the landing gear (which is why the ladder is laying on the ground, he doesn't need it to get in?).
-
Looks pretty good! The included boarding ladders are a nice addition. Although I have to wonder what the figure sculpt will be like, and whether or not it's going to fit in the snug cockpit of that X-Wing.
Another concern is unfortunately the price. Forbidden Planet is listing that at 57 GBP. That currently translates to over $80.
-
I don't recall well enough from the movies, but what is the second ladder for? A groundcrewer to work on the R2 unit? A neat looking set, too bad I'll only get to look at it longingly....
-
Anyone want to buy it and sell me the ladders and the astromech droid? ;)
-
Hopefuly I can get one ??? like the ladders too :)
-
Pretty cool.
-
WEDGE!!!! As someone who has been complaining for years for a decent Wedge, I am very pleased. I will be buying. :)
-
Ladders - cool, Wedge - nice to get one with a chin strap helmet, but I don't know about VOTC Luke body.
-
Although I'm not one that usually buys a lot of the ship repaints (or has room for them), I have to say I'm sort of looking forward to this set. Always a fan of Wedge, and its nice he gets his own X-Wing in the line. I'm hoping its not too pricey, as I'd like to pick one up. I only have the Dagobah X-Wing (and an FX one I got on clearance that is packed away), so I guess its not so bad to pick up another. I bet if it does well though, we'll start seeing "Biggs w/X-wing, Porkins w/X-Wing, etc.".
-

Yep, the dark ladder is for the pilot and the yellow ladder was for the techie preparing the astromechs.
-
Nice! Probably going to be $75 like the stupidly overpriced ARC. I'd buy it at that price though if it came with some cool logs.
-
Wasn't there a post a while back about new Target DPCI's that had an unexplained starfighter for like $60-65? Any chance this is it?
-
Pretty cool, hope the astromech droid would be removable from its pit.
Decent wedge. I wonder if he is in a wide stance, doesn`t it prevent him to enter the cockpit?
Great 2 ladders! In the photo the x wing is with its landing gears coiled so we canīt look its real height.
Nice toy they must release a dagobah x wing with a dagobah or hoth Luke pilot.
-
I do not get the massive inflation on vehicles. It would seem the AT-TE and BMF justified raising the price of larger vehicles in retailers eyes. This is will bend over for since it's OTC but man more than 30 than the TRU Dagobah one is getting out of hand.
-
I wonder if the price inflation on vehicles is due to the BMF and AT-TE not selling as well as Hasbro thought and now they're adjusting prices to make up for it? Just a thought...
I don't buy vehicles but I've been tempted to buy a 'to-scale' X-Wing. I may have missed my chance if the price for this is exorbitant.
-

Its really not that different from the basic figures on a percentage basis is it? From $7 at Christmas to $9 at some Target stores - I heard today that someone found basic figs for almost $9 even at a Wal-Mart. This isn't about a cost of goods increase - this is about manufacturers having no idea what to do with price these days. Obvioiusly, they're in it to make profit, so I think they're testing the waters. If things don't sell, they can always take the price back down, just like they've done with every single price increase over the last ten years. Time may prove me wrong, but this should be simple Econ 101. If demand stays high, they can continue to charge what they want. If surplus of suply grows, prices will come back down. :-\
-
I think the recent safety regulations are adding to the overall cost of toys...plus, their is the whole oil thing which isn't as big of an issue as it used to be
-
I bet if it does well though, we'll start seeing "Biggs w/X-wing, Porkins w/X-Wing, etc.".
If we get a Porkins w/X-wing he better be able to fit his fat ass in it!
-
I hate pack-in figures :-\
-
Yeah, I just want to get a regular single pack Wedge at retail. None of this $15 on the web or $75 X-wings with a ladder or two.
-

Interesting....I wonder how sales of the Ecliptic Tie Fighter is doing, but that thing is only $50, no? I'm out of this game if prices are going through the roof even though I'd stop buying figs and just buy the vehicles.
-
Yeah, I just want to get a regular single pack Wedge at retail.
Seriously. Why is that so hard?
-
I agree, it seems ridiculous that we still haven't seen a regular, single carded Wedge Antilles at retail. Looking at all the other minor, background characters we've seen in the line, particularly in the past few years, the fact that this fairly significant player in the OT still hasn't seen a basic figure at retail seems astounding to me. I'm looking forward to seeing more about this X-Wing pack in, and the previous OTC exclusive version was ok as well, but I hope we get an all-new, SA Wedge Antilles in the basic line - and soon.
-

As I work at a Toy company I can confirm this to be true.

Given this set, I think we're more likely to see a TESB Snowspeeder pilot Wedge on a basic figure card first.

It would be very simple and cheap, just take Wes's body and put Comic pack wedge's head on it. POW Snowspeeder Wedge. I was going to do that anyway.
-
Or an evo snowspeeder body with a Wedge head.
-
I hope they slap some of the FX X-Wing electronics back in this for $75 bones. I am getting it either way just because of the OT connection. while I love that new imperial arc they can kiss my ass on that one!
-
I look at this 2 ways: $75 is frackin' ridiculous for this if it is truly the price. On the other hand, it's pretty cool that we're getting individual and accurately-decoed starfighters and their pilots, something that would have never happened in vintage or even POTF2 days.
-
So, are you saying to individually paint stripe for on the wings is worth the extra price?
-

That's a great way to look at this. Plus we get ladders. That alone makes it all worth it. ;)
Many people ask why wedge has not been individually carded, this is the reason. Hasbro know we fan boys clamor him so they are taking advantage of the situation. So far on this item, it's working on me.
-
Sorry but this is a rip-off, are Hasbro really trying to annoy the fans, as they seem to be doing a good job of it lately, unfortunately you have the fools that will pay this price and so the prices wont come down, they will just steadily get higher.
I can understand a price rise in a stable economy, however we havent got a stable economy at the min, so I think Hasbro is going to loose a lot of buyers for their product.
Also why havent they done a basic card Wedge Antilles, I bet you they will release him again on single card after this has sold.
-
Last year Hasbro's profits rose on an earnings per share basis. Meaning even with the tougher economy, Hasbro did really well. And since Star Wars is the best category for toys out there, since its #1 in sales, I don't think Hasbro is hurting on the Star Wars line at all. Frankly, I think Hasbro recognizes that people buy because of the Star Wars brand, so they can squeeze a little bit more out, in terms of price.
I wonder if in a year we'll see a three pack with Wedge, the pack in pilot from the A-Wing and the Y-Wing.
-
So, are you saying to individually paint stripe for on the wings is worth the extra price?
I wouldn't say that, but I'd still pick them up. :P
-
Han's Hideout has a DPCI listed for an X-Wing at Target... Interesting, no?
-
Cool, potentially. I was only planning to pick up one, but if it goes on clearance, I'll pick up a second to make a snowspeeder Wedge.
-
Looks like Sandtroopers found some boxed shots (http://www.sandtroopers.com/sandwatch/hasbro/20090502/).
I'm definitely planning on grabbing one of these, especially after the news in the recent JD Q&A that Wedge is using the newer X-Wing pilot body.
-
Gosh bless it that looks great. Unfortunately is it really going to be $75?
-
Looking good. At $75 though, they can keep it. That is worth $35 or $45 tops.
-

The last time I checked the rumored Target DPCI, it said $50 not $75. ;)

Hey, look! We have the same images up, and a little more! (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1241506144,82223,) Head on out to the front page to check out all the images of Wedge's X-Wing and other ships!
(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/09Leg_WedgeXW_BoxedTN1.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/09Leg_WedgeXW_BoxedTN.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/09Leg_WedgeXW_BoxedTN2.jpg)
-
I'm definitely in for this one as well. The boxed pics make it look pretty nice, and it looks like we'll finally get a really nice Wedge figure as well. The fact that there is an astromech droid and a couple of ladders makes it even better. I don't now if I'd ever have the room for all the various X-Wings, but it would be nice to have Wedge's to go alongside Luke's.
-
Super. I can't wait for this one. Nice to know that Wedge will be on the Vakil body.
-
The Wedge gods have smiled on us. Awesome. $50 I can handle... for this.
-
Horrible front panel. They need to clip that cannon from the wing. It's obtrusive.
-
If anyone wants an extra X-wing let me know. I'll have one available - with the ladder.
-
What is up with that astromech? That is not the droid Wedge used at Yavin *or* Endor! How freaking lame is that? Does Hasbro even bother to watch the movies anymore when designing this stuff?
-
Was hoping to skip this one, but pretty hard to pass up with two exclusive figs. Might have to try to buy it on sale or with some kind of deal. :-\
-
Does Hasbro even bother to watch the movies anymore when designing this stuff?
According to Hasbro, it's not their fault - it was LFL that picked the droid's coloring. From a recent Q&A session:
Hasbro (http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/default.cfm?page=News/Item&newsid=3DC73C59-D56F-E112-43B637A87134DEC7): We took our direction from Lucasfilm on which droid to include. There does appear to be conflicting reference, but we have to defer to the official source on this one.
-
I'm gonna have to get it for the figures, and maybe the ladders, but it'll sting. :( Anyone need an extra X-Wing to repaint for POrkins or someone? :D
-

Does his fat ass fit in the cockpit? ;D
-
I THINK you can get him into the new X-Wings, but I'm not positive now that you mention it. I think old tubby can get wedged (no pun) in there.
Wait, maybe Wedge's name isn't Wedge, but that's actually a nickname? Because he has to help shoehorn Porky into his fighter before every battle?
Anyway, I can't recall now if he actually fits in there or not.
OK, nix that... Someone want my X-Wing for the Twi'Lek chick, or the Rogue Squadron Comic 2-pack pilots, or Biggs?
-
I might take people up on the offer of the X-wings. Depends.
If people just want the figures, then it might be easier for me to get the sets and send out the figures than the other way around.
I'm going to want to keep the ladders with the sets I buy extra.

Well that may technically be true, that doesn't fully exonerate them. I believe that what happened was, Hasbro went to Lucasfilm and said they wanted to make Wedge's ship, so Lucasfilm pulled out photos of the filming model, gave them to Hasbro, who then based the droid off the one in the ship. This makes it kind of acccurate, in that the model droid *was* used in filming, though 1. you can't actually really see it in the movie, and 2. the models are all mixed up on screen as to who is flying what, so you see the Red 2 X-Wing flying down the trench during Red Leader's run.
What they *could* have done, is first, after deciding to make Wedge's droid, googled it and found stills from the movie showing it, and also visited sites like astromech.net, or even the one I made, and saw what dome was *actually* used in Wedge's cockpit cloe-ups, and then sent that info in to Lucasfilm for approval, which I'm sure they would have gotten, if they weren't so lazy that they just looked at the pics of the model, and then went from there.

I'd be interested in the astro droid if you go that route, Sal.

I'd be interested in both figures if you want to work something out. Just let me know!
-
Same here Sal - I'd pay a decent price to avoid having to ship. Let me know.
-
Well I doubt I'll have any luck getting rid of just the X-Wing, but if anyone's interested send me a PM!
-
Debating picking this up because you KNOW the Wedge is getting rereleased at some point.
-
Ok folks will do. I'll keep watch of this thread once these start showing up in stores. Then I'll send out trade PMs accordingly. Thanks for the quick response. It helped me make up my mind about getting duplicates.
For me this works out fairly nice. All I need do is airbrush however many extra stripes I want on the wings to make the other designated X-wings.
I figure I might as well get some extra X-wings now because they just aren't going to be cheaper in the future. A little airbrush now will save me a lot later.
-
After my first set, I'm going to want another Wedge to make a snowspeeder version. If this is a Target exclusive, I won't mind buying a second set just for that - once it hits clearance.
-
I am also just looking for the figures if anyone wants the ship.
-
I'm not digging why Hasbro is putting animated clones on OT stuff, but whatever.
Question - how much are you guys willing to sell your spare X-Wing for anyways?
-
I'll be willing to sell mine for half if the set is $50 I think. I just want the figures and the ladders... My scale obsession wont' let me keep the X-wing despite it looking pretty sharp actually.
-
It seems like someone can make a killing selling casted ladders from this set. Hmmm. ;)
-
I was just squinting at the fine print on the back of the box that lists all the features, and am I correct in seeing the words "optional Rogue Squadron markings included" pointing to a bunch of TIE fighter and 2 Death Star kill markings? That's pretty cool!
-

Yep, good eye. 8)

That's really cool. Just the Death Star kills may sell it to me now.

Wedge should only need 1 Death Star kill sticker, even a half one at that (unless Wedge destroyed a third DS in EU that I'm unaware of). But, it is cool that they are offering those Rogue Squadron kill marks.
-
I think Wedge has two, due to surviving the first assault... which technically counted as an assist since he was in the trench and slowed the assault by the TIE's on Biggs and Luke.
-
Maybe (hopefully) they are also meaning that it is going to come with the Rogue Squadron crest? Which is 12 X-Wings and a blue Rebel logo, IIRC.
-

Yeah, I think being involved and surviving these two "suicide" missions means he deserves two.
-
The alternate stickers are very cool. It would make picking up a second set less painful.
-

I did some looking, and found it very difficult to make out Wedge's ANH droid. The Angelfire site has some pics that seem to show R3-T2's all-red dome. This is apparently the same droid from Mos Eisley. Is that right?
-
The pics aren't showing up, but yeah, the droid Wedge used at Yavin had the same dome that R3-T2 did in Mos Eisley.
This was apparently a common practice: Porkin's had R5-D4's dome, Biggs had R2-Q2's from the blockade runner, John D had R4-M9 from the blockade runner, etc. It makes sense that they wouldn't be bothered to paint all new schemes for all the droids in that sequence, considering how little you'd be expected to see of each one. Echostation has had an image up for a decade showing Wedge's droid, so it's certainly nothing new.
It's just very disappointing that they first got R3-T2 wrong, and now got this one wrong too!
-
The pics aren't showing up
Niether is yours unless it's one of those red x kinda days..
-

Well, anyway you are correct that it's clear in the photos that Wedge's droid was allover red with white panels. People have been customizing him up that way since the mid-90s at least, so I don't get Hasbro's deal.
The filming starship models' droids never matched up with live action shots anyway. If they made all the pilots' droids that way, Biggs and Red Leader would have a gray R2 unit with black panels.
-

I can't recall how kill markings worked in WW2, but they may have issued them to multiple planes if it was something large like a carrier sunk or whatnot. If you got a bomb on the deck but another plane sank it, you maybe get an assist on that? I don't know honestly. Paul may know more on that.
-
The kill markings for Wedge's X-Wing is likely in homage to the Rogue Squadron comic books which showed the markings on the hull. They look similar to this set of markings (http://www.erikstormtrooper.com/killmarks.gif) I made years ago and hosted by Erik.

I did a little reading yesterday and it depended on the Air Force you flew for. The USAAC and Britain credited partial kills (if you hit it you got a piece, meaning some pilots had 12.83 kills, etc) , while the Germans did not (you had to get the last hit to get the credit). I'm not sure how that applied to attacks against Naval targets though. Dennis Lawson is British right?
-
I think he's a Brit... He's Ewan McGregor's uncle too, I believe.
More new images, this time loose shots of the ship! They're out on the front page, so go check 'em out!
(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/09Leg_WedgeXWingShipLoose1_TN.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/09Leg_WedgeXWingShipLoose2_TN.jpg)
I think this may be the nicest paintjob Hasbro's ever done, in terms of accuracy. It seems very close to the film model.
-
He is a Brit and still works. He was featured in a great BBC series two or three years ago called Jekyll.
-
Nice pics, the paint job does look pretty nice there. Although I don't have room for a ton of X-Wings, I would like to pick this one up if the price isn't too high.
-
Considering it's one of the only ships to, techinically, be seen in 3 movies... I think it's a good choice.
I really like Hasbro's decision to drop stickers too. Much more realistic with a paintjob.
-

I couldn't agree more about the stickers. I've really enjoyed the last couple years of relatively sticker-free ships, I like the paintjobs better too.
-
I'm really glad to see loose and boxed pics of this set, but I was disappointed that the boxed pics obscured the new headsculpt on Wedge. Does anyone have pics of the figure in the box or loose?

Me too. But, I must confess that I secretly wish for stickers to apply since the stripes on my Red Leader x-wing got sun damaged.
-
This is, I'm sure, a ridiculous and pointless request to make- but if anybody buys the ship and finds no need for the 2 ladders (for example, if someone plans to hang this ship from the ceiling or some other reason), I'll gladly buy the ladders at a generous price! I'm making a Yavin diorama now, and I don't really want to buy the whole ship.

We should get someone to make some molds and cast a bunch.
-
Nobody has pics of the new Wedge figure?
-
(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-08/09Leg_WedgePackInLoose2_TN.jpg)
You're in luck... We just happened to get two loose images of Wedge in today from a friend. Head on out to the front page to check him out. Not a shabby looking figure. Too bad he's a pack-in and not a basic figure.
-
FINALLY. ;D
-
Hah, yeah... Boxed shots were up a while back that we had gotten ahold of, but none really showed the figure off much. Interesting headsculpt on him. I think there will be some people disappointed in it. I like it though, but I'm easy like that.
-
I think the likeness is pretty good actually:
If there was any complaint, it may be the deco on the control box.
-
Not bad at all...I'm surprised that we will have gotten 2 unique Wedge headsculpts within a year (this and the comic pack version).
-
Yeah it does look better than I was thinking I guess. Maybe I was thinking more of how the 3-pack Wedge looked (his hair and stuff), which I thought wasn't a bad likeness... It looked younger though.
-
Not bad at all...I'm surprised that we will have gotten 2 unique Wedge headsculpts within a year (this and the comic pack version).
As much as they site tooling as being cost prohibitive for certain applications, I'm surprised they didn't save some of their tooling dollars and just recycle the Comic Pack version's head. Unless there is a discrepancy in the size of the neck posts between the two bodies of course. All the more reason to standardize the posts I guess in order to make it easier for them and the headswapers out there.
-
Hopefully having two headsculpts to choose from means that we will see other versions down the road, particularly a Snowspeeder flightsuit and a Civvies version as was seen in many Rogue Squadron comics.
-
Its about freakin time !!! ;D I have been waiting for a great Wedge forever.
-
Yeah, it is really nice to see a closer to "ultimate" Wedge Antilles coming out. It is still crazy to me that this character doesn't have a regular release, basic carded figure at this point. Hopefully this figure will get slid into the Legends or Greatest Hits line at some point, or they re-release it if/when they get around to using vintage-like cardbacks for the line next year or in the future. He really is the unsung hero of Star Wars in a lot of ways, and his figure releases show that too ;). I'll probably be picking up this X-Wing pack anyways (depending on price), because Wedge is one of my favorite characters - but it would have been nice to have just the figure available too.
-

Exactly, Wedge survives the first DS, the first one to take down the At-At Walker, and helps Lando blow up the second DS. and still no basic figure released. ??? Wedge has always got the shaft.
-
DAMN! I missed him, I would have bought two of these. I am actually surprised they made a new head tool, the CP version looked pretty good. I am really looking forward to this set. I may get two for more X-Wing that all of these Pilots can actually Pilot.

If they ever bring back the vintage line, then my vote is for the figs that never got vintage releases. And Wedge is #1.
-
This Wedge looks much better than the one that was offered online in OTC packaging.
-
I think his face looks too cartoony... liking the comic pack head quite a bit more personally.
-
When is this thing hitting shelves? I could care less about his likeness, but apparently everyone else does. I just want his ship and the freakin ladder! $44.99?
-
$49.99
-
iFett, if you ultimately don't want your Wedge, I'm interested. I don't want the ship or the ladders particularly... Go figure. ::)

Pfft, he'd have to actually open something for that to happen Jesse. Not going to happen me thinks. :P

That stings..

maybe we could work something out this time as I'm contemplating on letting go of my carded collection, but I love to procrastinate - either way I could care less who pilots this ship as I'll never see him so this issue is beyond the point.

I'm still in deep thought.... I will open my collection to this site if/when I come to terms.
-
Thanks and just keep it in mind... I'm considering my options on the figure is all right now. I know I want it, but the ship's a very unimportant item to me at this point.
-
As always, i just want the figure. Anyone want the ship?
-
I saw this at Target in Michigan yesterday. Like many of you, I just need the pilot and the droid. If anyone buys an extra and can help me out, I'd appreciate it.
-
Got mine this afternoon... just happened to have a $5 off $50 Target coupon that I somehow got in the mail for reasons I don't clearly understand.
Here's a really crappy Flickr gallery. http://digg.com/u3Bhaw I included shots of the 3 red Astromechs so you can get a look at them side-by-side.
-
This looks awesome! Thanks for the pics Adam.
I think I will be buying two of these as I like to customize one for Biggs.
BTW - I bought the upcoming Evo Red 13 figure from eBay, this is the same taller pilot body that Wedge uses. I placed a Evo Tie Biggs head on it and it fits perfectly with no need to drill. You can make your own perfect Biggs with no paint or drilling. The best part is the TAC Biggs helmet fits perfect too. I will post a pic tonight.
BTW2 - For those selling the X-Wing LMK how much shipped to Chicago, if the price is right I may be interested.
-
Michael, I'm in Chicago now and would love to split a set with you - you can have the X-wing and I'll take the figures.
PM coming.
-
Picked up my two this morning.
Nice set.
-
I just found one today after reading the reports I decided to go on a mission, surprisingly I found one on my first try
and I almost missed it as it was crammed sideways/upright between the Rancor and Turbo Tank. Looks great, I plan on getting more than one.
It looks pretty sharp overall and I even used a $5 Clone Cash coupon on it, I love those things!
-
Picked this set up this morning with a DPCI. I love it, save I want to carbon copy the kill stickers over to clear sticker sheets.
-
I picked this up Yesterday. I'm a tad disappointed with the paint job, but the up side is that there will be less sunlight fading on the lack of stickers.
-
Hit up Target yesterday, no sign of it.

Yeah, while not terrible the way it's molded makes it look very shiny & plasticy. (Yes, I know it's made of plastic but a little mold texture goes a long way)
The TRU Red Leader X-Wing is nicer in terms of deco but this is still worth it. I rather have more X-Wings than Jedi Starfighters....I am so sick of those.
-
Does ANYONE want the X-Wing for their myriad of XW Pilots or to customize? I'm going to have the ship for sale. I want the figures, but not the X-Wing.
-
At select Target stores (and Target.com (http://www.target.com/dp/B001QUX6V8)), the Wedge X-Wing is on sale for $45.99, but it's an unadvertised sale in the stores (meaning you'd have to scan it to see if your store has it on sale).
If you apply a Clone Cash coupon, you can bring the price down to $40.99 plus tax. Not 'cheap', but a lot better than $50.
-
After spending far too much money on something other than toys today (namely the Beatles remasters) at Target, I wound up with 20 bucks worth of gift cards that I plan on using on the X-Wing when it finally shows up around here. I don't really need another X-Wing, but given the fact that the stickers all over my 1998 FX X-Wing are starting to peel a little, I'd like a non-swamp gunk covered X-Wing to display.
Question, though: are the stripes and details painted on (as with the Dagobah X-Wing) or are they pre-applied stickers?
-
I thought Wedge's ship was painted, but I don't own it so don't quote me.
It's a significantly different paintjob too, IMO.
-
They are painted. The only stickers are "kill" markings.
-
Any one buy this just for the ship and ladder, i will happily take the figures.
-
I just want the figures and ladder also. Maybe I will just buy it and sell off the X-Wing to.
-
I'd like to have the whole set, but I won't justify the price. I've heard between $60-70. No way. My ceiling is being hit now on a regular basis by Hasbro for how high I'll send on a given item. For me it's more on principle than affordability. I "could" buy the stuff, but I CHOOSE not to. Big difference.
Hopefully I'll find this on clearance or a con/eBay sometime down the road.
-

Between $60-70? Huh? ???

I sure am glad I save $20 on mine and my computer let's me read more than just one page on jd. ;)

You can get it for $46 at Target this week. It's normally $50.
I noticed 4 disappear overnight at a local Target. A bit odd.

I noticed 4 disappear overnight at a local Target. A bit odd.
Whenever my Target has a sale on anything in the toy aisle, the amount of stock seems to suddenly either drop by 2/3 or vanish completely until the sale is over, at which point everything reappears. While I am willing to concede that some stock vanishes rather quickly if the sale price is significantly less than the regular price, I highly doubt that tons of Desert Tracker Ratchets disappeared on the first day of the Voyager class sale only to reappear the day after the sale is over. :P
(Sorry to veer off into Transformers talk for a second, but it was the easiest and most recent toy that I could point to where this had happened locally)
Anyway, I picked up one of the 3 Wedge X-Wings at my local Target yesterday, and got it for the slightly decreased price of 46 bucks, which decreased even further when I used the 20 dollars worth of Beatles gift cards at checkout. 26 bucks plus tax isn't bad for this. :)
Two questions, though:
1-Is the yellow ladder supposed to connect to something on the side of the ship? There are small slots on the back of the ladder, but no corresponding pegs added to the ship mold that I can find to secure it. Since the side of the X-Wing at the cockpit where the ladder should theoretically go is angled with no real "ledge" to rest it against, I can't figure out a way to display it with Wedge climbing the ladder, as it falls right over.
2-Is everyone else's pilot seat assembled incorrectly? I know that the photo on the box has it assembled incorrectly (and thus has Wedge's head hanging out in the cargo area), but the incorrect assembly on the actual toy is really bothering me. Sure, Wedge can sit up just fine with it in the incorrect position, but it's the principle of it all that irks me. The really irritating thing is that it does look like I can fix it without taking the entire ship apart, as the hinge tabs seem to be really long and might break should I force the issue.
Also, if anyone wants the "kill marking" labels, PM me. I don't really get into the post-ROTJ EU stuff, so even though there's a film-based reason for the kill marks, I have no need for them myself.

The yellow ladder doesn't connect to anything. Those vestigial slots were present on the ladder when this was originally going to be released in the Saga Deluxe line (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=18844.msg439389#msg439389) along with the beefy Rebel Ground Crewman.
As for the placement of the ladder and using ANH as a reference, the yellow one is used by the Ground crewman for while they are prepping the various X-Wings and Y-Wings. Thus the red ladder is for the pilots to board their respective ships. The only instance I recall a pilot using the yellow ladder is when Luke is climbing out after his return to the base on Yavin.

I picked this up a couple of days ago. It was good to see an exclusive in relatively decent supply. Although I'm sure that the scalper shop in my area that makes a point of cleaning out the exclusives from the local stores will see to that soon enough. To that end, please do not patronize ToyWiz.com as this is how they stock their SW exclusives.
I'm going to have to wait a little while to open this one. My collecting room is a work in progress, and while I'm really eager to get my Yavin Rebel Hangar together, it's going to take a little while.
That being said, I think it's a great set. Although it would be nice to see Wedge with the appropriate astromech. The one thing that keeps puzzling me? Why Hasbro doesn't want to put Wedge out in the Basic Figure line on a single card. Perhaps they'll do that at long last for one of the TESB waves next year, with a Snowspeeder pilot Wedge.

I've heard plenty about BBTS stealing all the WM MP Screamers from local stores a few years back so this doesn't suprise me, but it may have just been rumors. Never once though did I see him at retail, but Target is pretty good at their own stuff as I'm in their home town.

Picked this up here locally this weekend... ANyone need an X-Wing? :)
-
The sale of this goes until mid October. Good deal. Maybe I'l have some clone cash by then to get another.

That's good. I might have made my decision to pick up up by then. :P
-
Picked mine up today. With the 'sale', and a combo of Clone Cash and Target coupons, I got it for $35. Very fair price. I especially like the diorama the package offers - it has plenty of room for the Yavin Hanger cart and other rebels. :)
-
I've seen it but haven't bought it. The $45 is a meh for me. Like the vehicle though - plus a figure and a ladder? I should pick this up. Wasn't this set to commemorate something special for ROTJ?? Don't remember - I think I heard Hasbro say in a Q/A something to this effect.

Two ladders my fried...Two ladders. :D
-
What's truly mind blowing is the price some of these figures are selling for alone on eBay. I mean I saw a Wedge that ended at $61!!! :o
People b!tch and complain about $45 (no offense to anyone as I haven't bought one and I b!tch myself) yet some others are willing to shell 60 clams for just Wedge. I just don't get it, and I'm not sure I ever will.
-

That's outrageous. Maybe if you are high on crack when you are buying stuff on ebay that kind of thing happens.
-
Hell, I think if crack were involved you'd still not lay down 61 clams. Shoot that can probably cop you a decent crack haul.
-
I opened mine up to find that both of the laser cannons are the same. Hasbro doesn't have spare parts for the exclusives, so I have to return and exchange it. :(
-
I was fiddling with the laders last night, turns out you can snap them together with the bottom of the red ladder slipping into the slots of the yellow, making some kind of half bridge. They are clearly meant to fit together I just can't figure out why.
Also you can slip the top of he red ladder in the slots to make a fairly insecure step ladder.
Picked up a second X-Wing added a little red stripe to each wing to make Red 3 (Biggs).
-
Although I'm happy to have Wedge's ship, part of me is thinking that I should have waited for a possible clearance. Our local store still has a pile of them on an endcap (I think I may have bought the only one so far), and unless holiday sales are good, I could see this one getting marked down pretty good.
-

What are you doing with the extra droid? I'd be interested if you're willing to get rid of it.
-
Second times a charm. Got around to opening my replacement set and it had the right cannons.
-
I'm a big astromech fan, can't have too many. The second droid is here on my desk at work.
-
Is this set making a comeback? I saw one (at full price) at a local Target the other day, and over the weekend other sets have been reported at Targets around town, all still at the full $50 price point. I rarely go into Target so I'm wondering if this is recent or if anyone else has seen it?
-
According to a recent mill, it seems that a Pilot Wedge will make it to TVC Wave 4 (ROTJ). Pretty interesting, considering Wedge was just recently released in the Target exclusive set w/ his starfighter.

They are also making a small comeback in Minnesota- my local store recently put out 6 of them at full price, along with a couple of Y wings.

Saw four of these in NY for full price...
