I haven't seen pics yet, but thought I'd start up a thread so we have one when pics surface...
-
I'm not sure how different the Biggs will be from the one that is in the Black Series line. My guess is that we'll be getting a redeco of the Xwing from that TRU exclusive Trench Run set.
-
I'm cool with that... with Porkins being made tiny, it makes me wonder if his ship won't happen at some point.

Biggs being included might have been a misunderstanding by the guys at the show - box says "figure not included".

-
I didn't think it was included.
-
Looks good to me! I might actually get two or three, despite the wing markings.
-
As much as I want the box, for completeness' sake, this is a pass unless clearance or the Biggs is significantly different if he's even included.
-
Needs spring action exploding feature with electronic scream dialouge. Also include vader's dialouge for no reason other than Vader is the star of everything. "I have the leader..."
-
THIS is very cool on Hasbro's part. Ever since they introduced the larger X-Wing they've been giving us some individual fighters along the way. First it was Luke, obviously. Then Red Leader. And there was Wedge, too. Add in a couple of more renditions with Luke, of course (Dagobah, Trench Run). And now Biggs. I've got to say that I'm pretty happy about this. And it's actually coordinated with a Biggs basic figure release.
I actually passed on the Trench Run X-Wing. But I'm hoping that some of the updates that were in that version will carry over to this new Biggs version.
-
Very cool indeed. Can't get enough of these simple repaint variants.
-
Classic vehicle, I passed on the Vintage Luke X Wing so I will buy this one.
-
Pretty nifty, and the vintage box never hurts things either. I'm not sure if I'll pick it up or not. I'd like to, but it depends when everything starts hitting and what kind of space I can free up by then. I've got a couple different Luke X-Wings, and Wedge's as well, but not sure if I have room for the whole squadron.
-
If the deco pictured on the box actually reflects what the toy looks like, I may end up getting this one. Curious about the price, though, since the last few big X-Wings have been in the 50 buck range and have included figures.
Speaking of the Trench Run X-Wing, what modifications were made to that mold anyway?

It came with the targeting computer, I know that much.

I know there was also a fold out missile launcher added underneath... I'm pretty sure there is one more significant change that I can't remember at the moment.
-
If it does not include the misile, target comp and all gadgets of Trench run X wing, speculators would rise the price of the latter.
-
SDCC display case says $59.99
Yeah, good luck with that, Toys R Us.
-
Wow. Because since the prices have begun to skyrocket sales have really kept pace huh? :)
-
$60 doesn't really sound THAT bad to me... haven't most X-Wings cost around $50 since they debuted the bigger sculpt? Granted we used to get more than just the ship though.
-
Is the "new" ship just a retool? I thought they'd made an all new X-Wing and it was a little smaller than before? I could be wrong... $40 seems more in line, but that's me.

Saga 2002 Luke's X-Wing: $40, included R2-D2 and survival gear
Saga 2006 Luke Skywalker's Dagobah X-Wing Fighter: $45, included Luke, Dragonsnake and swamp moss
Legacy Collection 2009 Wedge Antilles' X-Wing Starfighter: $50, included Wedge Antilles, astromech droid and 2 ladders
Battle over the Death Star Trench was like $100, 3 figures ($30 more or less), Darth's TIE ($20 more or less) and the X-Wing ($50 more or less).

I think the general consensus was the Trench Run X-Wing had the old (floppy) wings with a newly tooled fuselage that included - fold out torpedo launcher, front hatch for landing gear, storage compartment, slightly shorter length, new cockpit panel, and the targeting computer. Lots of tweaks and slightly smaller. Here's a good overview at JTA (http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=JReviews&rop=showcontent&id=892/).
I always kinda regretted not getting the Trench Run set to get that Red 5 X-Wing but $100+ was just too much since I only wanted the Xwing. I'll probably pick this one up now that I know it's the trench run x-wing, but I'll probably wait until TRU has a BOGO sale going on in order to save some cash off that $60 price. Agree with everyone one else that if it came with Biggs/Astromech $60 would be a lot easier to take.
-
That retooled cockpit is awesome.
-
Well, it is TRU. I always expect expensive. Maybe I'll just get one in stead of two now.
-
Other sites are reporting that this has been found in-store.
-
I think this will sit around like previous exclusives. Hope to get it on a TRU sale or lower future price.
-
Might have to wait for a BOGO50% off sale for this and split a set with an MN member.
-
Looking for a BOGO50 partner, Jay? I'm your huckleberry...

Done.
-
My plan is to not "hunt" this but if I see it I can almost guarantee it's going home with me even at $60
-
Pass. I'm content with the two X-Wings that I already have that are essentially the same thing.
-
Should've make it with an "exploding" feature, like the old Micro Collecton X-Wing.

+1 I loved that Xwing! There was something so fun about pushing that button and having it go all wet noodle.

I picked this up today!

Nice score Anton!

I actually never owned it, but I had the snowspeeder which had the same feature, it was the last micro collection thing I got. It was cool.

It's funny you guys should mention that. I never noticed this with the TRU Luke/Vader set because it was assembled, but the new X-Wing nose does detach right before the cockpit. It comes disassembled in Bigg's X-Wing.

And yet somehow still not worth it.

Picked this up the other day. Don't really need another X-Wing, but I wanted a version with the new cockpit tooling since I didn't get the "Trench Run" set last year. The new fuselage tooling is generally nice, but I'd like to know why Hasbro simply didn't go all the way and make new engines, main landing gear with doors, and wings. Instead its sort of a hybrid between the old 1996 tooling and the new 2011-12 tooling.
In any event, I intended to get this ship as sort of a "legacy" purchase since my very first Star Wars toy, an original vintage X-Wing I got when I was about 4 years old, was also "Red 3" and came from Toys R Us. I still have that ship ;)
-
I was really bummed when they didn't go balls out and do a scale X-WIng honestly... Totally in the realm of possibility, especially if you're doing it as a "break down" piece made of multiple sections. I've yet to buy the new tool and never will I'm afraid, though I too would dig the box.
I really wish Hasbro did some premium ships... I'd pay more than $60 for one, but I may be in the minority on that... Imagine though, a scaled Y-Wing with a better level of detail than the typical Hasbro ship? I'm there for $100 on that even.
-
I got this in the mail today. I haven't opened it yet, but I actually appreciate the packaging. Possibly my favorite Vintage box so far due to the simplicity (just the X-Wing, with an eye-catching red background), and also very reasonably sized. I always thought the previous X-Wing diorama packages were cool, but extremely wasteful at the same time.

Just curious, how much bigger would a to-scale X-Wing be? Would it be similar in size to those 1:18 scale modern fighter planes?
-
It'd be similar to the planes yeah... Not huge. None of the starfighters are that huge actually. Even the B-Wing, which is the largest overall, not a really big ship. Exact depends on how you view Star Wars figs in terms of scale, but 1:18 would be about 27" long and not quite as wide obviously.
24.5" would be about 1:20 scale... Star Wars figures are ultimately more in line with this than 1:18, for the most part. Depends on the figure, and Hasbro's mood that year. :P

The TRU near where I work had two of these this morning. Last week - after making some 3.75" Black Series purchases I was presented with two "$5 off a $25 or more purchase" coupons.
So I was fully intending on buy both X-Wings and using both coupons.
One X-Wing was absolutely perfect. The other had dented corner.
When the cashier was ringing up the mint one - he insisted that he take it from me to put it in a bag. I hesitantly agreed and then he proceeded to drop it. >:(
So needless to say, I'm still in the market for a MIB one and I'm hoping I find it this week as the coupons expire Friday...
-
Oh man, that's brutal. Once the money changes hands, I never let them touch my stuff. (Yes, that's what she said :P)
I have had at least 1 or 2 figures eat it on those %^&*( conveyor belts too. I hate those things!
-
The Y-Wing and B-Wing are my two biggest wants for an upgrade, now that I finally have Slave-1. I'm generally okay with the larger sized X-Wings we have, as they are still way ahead of the POTF2 version.
I'd love to see them tool up a Z-95 Headhunter though. Hell, I wish they had used them in the prequels.
-
I too would love a Z-95 Headhunter. The Lego set was awesome.
I saw the new X-Wing for the first time today at TRU. Big box.
They also had the 31" Vader for $10 more than Walmart, pass.
-
My problem with the xwings are how they compare to things like speeders or whatnot. Just too small and a figure standing outside one makes it more noticeable... Ywing is my big ship upgrade but the xwing is immediately 2nd since its a more important ship... Bwing is third for me. Eu I just have no hope for now.
-
Yeah I think the X-Wing needs to be widened, if anything. I only own the Red Leader X-Wing from almost 10 years ago, which I believe is the same sculpt as these newer ones, and I've always had trouble getting the newer, SA pilots to fit. Doesn't need to be TOO much bigger, but enough to fit the modern, post POTJ pilots.
-
Anyone have a current length on the new sculpt? I'm thinking its like 80% scale or close to that.
-
I put gray, square lego blocks under the landing gear feet to give my X-wings some hight. It's amazing the difference it makes.
-
I finally saw the Biggs X-Wing in a store this morning. The box looks really sharp. But the $59.99 price tag? Maybe it's a psychological barrier, but the box seemed a little small for that price.
-
Was holding out for the BOGO 50% sale, but I scored the Xwing today with this week's 25% off coupon.
-
My TRU has 30 of these in stock! I think they'll be around for a long time at $74.99 (Canadian price).
But my wife bought me one for our anniversary, so I don't have to think about that price. :D

Picked one up today on sale. $35 wasn't a bad price to pay for this new X-Wing.
-
I picked one up yesterday too... seemed like the time to go for it.
-
I would've picked up the TVC Republic Gunship, too. But I couldn't find any around yesterday. And now the sale is over, so no $30 off. :(
