Peep. My heart's not in it anymore. I hope they both lose. But especially LA.

Bah. That image says it all for me. Quite fitting that the last Sacto possesion of the year goes to C-Webb and it misses by a fraction, considering the weight placed on him these last few months (and the anticpation of his return the whole season). That game was what I thought it would be, minus the Sacto loss.

People are already up in arms about the offseason in Sacramento, but I don't think any huge roster changes will take place. I think the media is trying to make a big deal out of "Webber wants out" and trying to pit the Kings against themselves. In the first place, no one would take Webber with his contract $$$ and his still healing knee. Beyond that, there's no call for Sacto to ditch Webber when it was players like Peja who fell through the cracks at the end. I just don't see any kind of crazy offseason changeups like so many people are rallying around now.

KG was awesome, but you're looking at a troubled Minnesota, with Cassell in robot mode. I'll pull for them to beat LA, but I don't know... I just pray that LA doesn't get through with another championship. Good lord, that's the last thing basketball needs.

And I'm not saying Lakers fans are crazy (not that Nicholson is the sanest guy) but you folks have one weird-ass team down there.

Anyway, Sacramento in 2005, yo. Watch out. Or something.

Is that the actual box? Interesting choice to leave it open-aired. Where is the second head in there?

I've gotta find these damn things...

In examining these new pics that have come up today, I noticed that the little character manifestos that they printed on the cardbacks are extremely idiotic and poorly written. Check this out, from the Darth Vader card:

"Darth Vader is a part of the evil Empire. He is powerful in the ways of the Force but uses his skills to do terrible things. He helps the Emperor control the galaxy. When he meets Luke Skywalker, he tries to convince Luke to join him and together rule the galaxy, but Luke resists and eventually helps Vader see that the galaxy needs to be saved from the Emperor."

That's right, it does say "galaxy" three times. With the present tense and the choppy sentences, it sounds like a second grade report of an ROTJ picture book. I know these are toys intended for kids, but come on. Do they have to sound like children wrote them? What high school dropout is working for Hasbro and how can I get his job?

Read through the other cardbacks, they're equally as bad.

And be assured if the Kings win tonight, I'll be rooting for them like crazy to beat the Lakers :-*

What sane person wouldn't?

I caught the Indiana/Miami final yesterday. I don't watch too much Eastern ball, and that game last night made me realize why. It just paled in comparison to the team ball that so many Western teams have. Miami had a good effort overall, but they were clearly a one-player team. Duane Wade is amazing; it's too bad he doesn't have teammates to back him up well. Indiana was mostly dominated by a pair of players as well, with Artest leading. Beyond just hometown loyalty, one of the reasons I love the Kings so much is their teamwork and depth of players. I just haven't seen that in any of the Eastern teams that have made it this far. Any Eastern fans can correct me if I'm misguided here...

Until then, unless these playoff games are flukes, give me Western Conference games any day over the East.

Anyone seen these in retail yet? I've only just seen the bobble-figs at a Suncoast store. What stores will carry these?

Yeah I don't think its a new Bib, its hard to tell with those small pics on the poster but it looks like the same POTF2 version

Agreed. Of all the figures that needed a resculpt, this one is way up there. Huge disappointment for me. Same goes for the Gamorrean Guard - it's a nice figure, but a new sculpt would have been appreciated. Ah well...

::Throws all kinds of debris at Carpeteria::

Just kidding.  Glad to have some support for some of the other competition around here, so stick around Carpet!  Or at least until Game 7's over, when you'll hopefully be shown the door by the Wolves.   ;)  But like I said, if I had to put money on it, I'd probably go with the Kings at this point.

Sorry, pal. I am sincerely wishing for another Western Finals with Sacto and LA, if only for the pure revenge factor of it all. For my money, the only Western Finals should be between those two teams, what with the animosity we've had for so long. It makes for some gorgeous playing.

Yeah, Arco Arena is the loudest place possible, if only because it's one of the smallest arenas out there - I think it has like half the cubic space of Staples? And that's only ONE guy with a cowbell. If you want to see some exciting live basketball, visit Arco sometime. It's nuts.

So what about the East? What are the picks around here? I say Indiana versus Detroit with Indiana going all the way to lose to whatever Western team makes it through (Sacramento, rather).

Also...I didn't mean to lump in the actions of a few with Kings fans in general.  It has been reported a couple of times though through the local media that the Kings fans are some of the foulest mouthed loudest group of people that the local reporters have ever encountered at Pro Sporting events.  They attribute it to being the only team and town and a frenzied atmosphere.  I think some of the crap especially the throwing of crap on the floor is very bushleague.  And to do it not once but twice shows that some of the people there don't respect what is happening out on the floor.  The local reporters have also said that they likened a lot of Kings fans to Vikings fans though, years of pent up frustration of being so close and never being able to climb and get over that hump that the mentality is at least somewhat in my mind warranted because I know where they are coming from

Agreed. It was truly only a handful of people throwing the glowsticks and maracas, just as it was only a small amount of people who booed Webber a few months ago. It's a lot of frustration, especially when we flirted with Indiana for the best team in the league this entire season, only to fall flat at the end of the regular games. This team is the best they've ever been in Sacto, and it's pure frustration when we expect so much more out of them.

Yeah, it's the only game in town, but it's more the fact that they were nearly the only game in the NBA for so long. It's rough out there.

Rod Roddy and Tony Randall are the REAL odd couple. That's a recipe for some high-class hi-jinx right there.

Hmm... fascinating to come on and read the opinions of the non-Kings fans... I am of Sacramento origin, and with that a Kings fan indeed. OCB - do not scourge the entire city of Sacto for the negligent idiocy of a few who decided to throw items onto the court. Those aren't the real Kings fans; we are, with high percentage, quite a sophisticated and dedicated group.

Regardless - the KG/Peeler thing: Yes, I think Peeler should have gotten suspended for two games (which is fine with me - I've been raving that Adelman has kept him playing with his horrible offense while players like Songalia and Buford sit out), but by the same token, KG should have gotten a one-game suspension for his own deliberate hit on Peeler. If Peeler is punished twice for his two hits, then by that token, KG should have one suspension for his one hit. A $7,500 fine is nothing.

I would like to believe that those officials at the NBA would overlook the fact that KG is the MVP and of greater importance to his team, but it seems as though that is not the case. Oh well.

Inbetween - I gotta say that Saunders' choice of Jabari Smith for the FTs on Sunday was one of the highlights of the season. Brilliant work.

Brad Miller: if you've watched Miller all season, you would know that his behavior as of late is not his usual fare; his aggressive behavior has come as a result of and response to a lot of the Wolves' own aggressive tactics (there's a lot of holding going on). You can see the frustration in Miller's face when he plays. These games are clearly getting more physical - as I expect the Western Finals will become, no matter who plays LA.

Who's going to win: Of course I'd rather a Sacramento win; we've been down this road many times and I really hope we can finally get through. Realistically, to me, despite the statistics behind the home court wins, I think this is a 50/50 chance for either team. Sacto on Sunday was the best they've been in the offseason, and they played much better than Minnesota has in this series. When their offense and defense come together and guys are (finally) making shots, Sacto is hard to beat. But there's the problem of their extreme inconsistency that has been haunting them ever since Webber's return, and I can't say for sure that it won't come back on Wednesday. Sacto has proven they can win at Target Center, but to me, it's up in the air. Minnesota is obviously able to beat the Kings, even if it's in the last four minutes of the game, but they've got some bad injuries right now. Cassell is nonexistent and Szerbiak (sp?) isn't up to speed yet. Sprewell has been on top the last two games, and KG has been nice, but their defensive problems and multiple turnovers have been disappointing.

I can't make a real pick. I'll go with my hopes of Sacramento holding over from their amazing job on Sunday with a close win - this one's gonna get ugly, but it will be brilliant basketball. Just wish it wasn't on TNT so I could watch it in HD...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: When Do You Let Your Kids watch SW?
« on: May 18, 2004, 04:59 PM »
I've let my daughter watch the movies since she was two. She is nearly five now, and still likes watching them, no fear at all. Perhaps because she is literally surrounded by four-inch versions of all the characters, she isn't too worried about their on-screen presences. I don't know if she'll be quite ready to see ep. III in theatres, but I'll see how it goes in a year. At home is pretty different than a dark theatre.

However, I was three when I saw ROTJ in theatres, and it's one of my earliest and best memories. I remember dozens of kids holding up stuffed Ewok dolls and running around with lightsabers.
