Power of the Force 2 / Re: EU Figures
« on: September 20, 2003, 12:09 AM »
I found all but Leia, Darktrooper, and Spacetrooper at after-Christmas clearances in '98-99. I eventually got the Troops through the FC, and it wasn't until 2001 that I finally broke down and ordered Leia through Brian's Toys. Of course, they failed to tell me that the card would have a big Japanese sticker on the back. Dicks.

Dude! That's neat. I've got to dig those things out now and try it out.

I only found one clean one. I opened it gleefully. I ended up with three more Hustler-reader ones. Never have seen another clean one.

Episode 1 / Re: The Original "Midnight Madness"

I went to MM99. It was actually quite orderly, considering the stories I've read here. I just bought Maul, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan that night, and I was the first guy out of the store. When I walked to the register, they were like "Is this it?" I was like "Yeah, especially when I'm on a limited budget and you're charging $7 a crack." I ended up getting the first three series before the movie opened.

Then at school the next day (it was my senior year of high school :P) I got flak because I was in the footage they showed the next morning on the news. It was slightly embarrasing, but I didn't care, because I was going to graduate in ten days and never see those people again.

For MM02, there wasn't a TRU opening for it, and I was working 3rd shift. I went after work and found lots o' goodies. My first figures were Yoda, Anakin HD, and the red Clone.  I also had every figure available before the flick opened.

My hunts have been wallet-strainingly successful in the last couple of weeks, and I couldn't be happier. Or broker. :)

I have two, actually. One doesn't work anymore, and the other I picked up at a pawn shop for $15, MIB. I about **** when I found it.

I have it hooked up right now while my X-Box isn't. Go figure.

Does anyone have a problem with keeping Aragorn/Brego standing? Mine keeps falling over.

Oh, I bet the .org is even a more vile place to be right now.

I found Roboto tonight. Too bad it didn't happen three weeks ago, when I might have cared about this find. I left it, something I've never done with a MOTU figure.

Meh. That Gandalf is saddeningly inferior to the one packed with Shadowfax. But this version does hold Glamdring better than previous ones, so that's something. And at least it's white this time. Ah screw it, it's not inferior, I just think the head looks funny.

I had a CJ-7 that was nearly twenty years old when I got it, and it was an absolute nightmare. But, when it worked, it was a blast to drive.

Talked to the people who gave me the loan. They said I could keep my same interest rate, but my monthly payments would go up slightly. Eh. I wonder how bad Allied will knock me for insurance, since I'm not 25 yet. Thieves. >:(

KB's brick-and-mortar stores are getting in ROTK figures now. I found series 1 and 2 there, the cases that feature Gandalf the White and the Crossbow Uruk. And they've raised the price to $9.99 a crack, which is what I paid at Suncoast, which I also felt was a bit high. (Especially for Prologue Bilbo.)

So, all I need now are Superposable Gollum and 8" Treebeard to complete my collection, and my apathy towards these two in unequaled, so I guess my collection is complete enough for me. :)

I've talked to some Wrangler owners, and I think I'd only need the six for towing things. I don't drive like a maniac anymore, so I'm thinking the four will be just fine.

I'm going to kill gas mileage bad enough with a drop-top anyway.

Thanks for that link, OCB. :)

Edit-Checked the link, and I think I'll be in good shape.

OK, this is now officially the greatest toy line ever.
If it isn't, it's getting pretty close.

I'm in a bit of a pickle here. There's a 2000 Jeep Wrangler at a local dealership. It's Solar Yellow, with a manual tranny and a soft top. It's the 4-cylinder engine, too. This thing is exactly what I've been looking for, and priced at $11550.  I'm thinking of trading in my 2000 Hyundai Elantra for it.

My questions: If there are any modern (1997-2003) Wrangler owners, how are things? What kind of problems are you facing with these?

Second, if there are any who know much about this topic: What is the fair market value of a 2000 Elantra with 63,000 miles on it?

I think this is the only movie besides ESB I can watch over and over again and never get tired of. True comic genius through and through.

"Gonna show her my Oh-face. Oh! Oh! Oh!" That Drew looks just like me, so that's why I get a kick out of it.
