It looks like the Deformed figure craze will continue with a new series to be released in Japan in May. It looks like I have yet another series to collect, I love this deformed stuff. ;)
-
These looks cool. I may consider buying them depending on the price.
-
HLJ updates with a preorder for the SD Figure Collection #1 (http://www.hlj.com/product/TMD31144). 12 pieces per box & $44.91 US or $53.08 CDN.
Preorder this item by Feb. 6 to get it for 5% off the regular price of 5,760 yen!
-
;) I like this .When do these come out?
-
A May release according to the linky. ;)
-
Any difference between these and the Palm Talkers?
-
I will say yes, different sculpting I guess looking at the prototype pic Jesse supplied & the pics of the Palm Talkers archived on RS tho not sure what size (scale) the new ones are. I'm sure in time we will know more.

-
It would be damn cool if they are the same scale as the Palm Talkers, they'd all display nicely together.
-
I agree Jesse, I still have my POTJ Boba Fett. 12 pieces per box & $45. so that would be $3.75 each. I have a funny feeling that these are tiny, SD = Super Deformed?

I think you're right about them being quite small. I found a listing at BBTS.com (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TOM10022&mode=retail) that says they are blind boxed, so I don't think they'd be very large.
-
Robby.jp has a preorder up for these little guys. Wholesale 3744 yen or $31.15 US or $36.82 CDN.
Winner is RoBBy again.
-
:(I would only want Vader and Yoda awful steep price :P

That's a pretty sweet price since that's the cost for a box of 12. I imagine there will be some sort of regular box breakdown like with Kubricks and Bust-Ups, so I gotta find out what that will be.
-
These look pretty neat and being blind boxed is cool which means that there will probably be a chase...
-
The last 2 waves talked. Each had @ 3-4 lines to say. Do these talk? Maybe they are less money because they are just figures and don't talk?

I'd say you're exactly right - they're too inexpensive to be as large as the previous waves and likely don't talk either.
-
Judging by those pictures (which is difficult) I would guess these are no bigger than 3-4" tall. About the size of the burger king toys, maybe even a bit less. They are pretty cool, and cheap, but I just don't know that I need them.
Maybe if my Kubrick dealer is ordering some, I will get in on it. ;)
-
I was looking at the listing for these from Robby.jp (item code 10082542 if you happen to be a member) and noticed they list Hasbro as the manufacturer. It may just be an a mistake - it seems strange that Hasbro would make a product for release only in Japan.

Methinks you're right. The listing at Robby describes them as follows: "5 kinds items contains 12 pcs randomly". A box contains 12 pcs, and a carton contains 2 boxes (24 pieces). Perhaps one of the figures in the pic will be a chase...

Any news on these babies yet? Can't seem to find enough things to buy from Hasbro around here! Thanks!

A May release according to the linky. ;)
Still a May release according to HLJ & BBTS, soon. :)
-
So......Whatever happened with these? A no show? Thanks!
-
Last I had heard was that they were postponed until the end of September...
-
Yeah, I still have an order pending from RoBBy, so they should still be coming.
-
Thanks fro letting me know. That is a very long pre-order! This thread started in Feb.
-
Some potentially bad news for those interested in this line. My order was cancelled by the Robby.jp (a Japanese wholesaler) -- if they can't get them, I don't think it bodes well for the future of these figures.
-
Strange, HLJ still has them listed & for a Dec release.
SD Figure Collection #1 (http://www.hlj.com/product/TMD31144).
-
I think Robby is losing interest in its North American customers since Ryo left. I got boned almost completely by them on a large order of TAC figures. They were going to be the same price shipped here as I could get locally, plus they were supposed to arrive about a month or two prior (Japanese retailers have exact street dates for figure release). So far I got one figure and they've cancelled a couple, but I want them to cancel the rest since they've long since been released in Canada.
I think they'll be fine still for Kubricks but since Ryo left I've not been impressed with the service. :-\

OK, HLJ has these as a Jan release now.
-
The latest batch of the deformed figures are now listed on TOMY's Japan Star Wars Site (http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/starwars/) with a February 2008 date.
Also, it seems as though there are definitely two chase pieces:
K-3PO and R2-Q5
-
Kube collecting is out of control and too rich for my blood these days.
Time for more Koto magnets and some of these:

Yeah, I'm a little tempted by those, although I'm not sure how they will look and feel in person.
-
I have a Stormie so far and its great.
Seem solid, not hollow.
They are about 2 inches tall.
CB
-
I own a full set of these, including the K-3PO. I have a set available for anyone that's interested :-X At least I'm fairly sure it's those, if those are the Deformed figures collection 1.
-
I just ordered a box of 12, didn't get them yet so I'm not sure what Chase I'll get.
Echo Base posted this over at Yodasnews:

At the risk of continuing to derail this thread.... so what exactly are those little figures? They look sort of like a combination of the larger superdeformed figures and Galatic Hero figures. I kind of like them.
EDIT: Now that this thread was properly moved my post doesnt' make as much sense.
For those of you that actually got some of these. Where did you order them? I'd be interested in getting a Yoda for sure.

My friend in Japan sent me the Stormie.
I also ordered a box of 12 from BBTS.
The Stormie was about $5 plus shipping from Japan.
The box of 12 from BBTS was rounded out to $74 shipped USPS, so when you think of how much shipping might be from Japan, this price didn't seem so bad...unless anyone out there knows of a better deal I missed.
I saw HLJ mentioned when I checked this thread out for the first time today but didn't hit the link.

So I take it these don't talk or light up at all like the last set of super deformed figures that were available from Hasbro (mainly at K-mart)? Do they have little speaker holes in the back...like the mold might originally have been meant for a speaker?
-
These are much smaller than the palm talkers, about half the size. So no modifications of the sort.

I got mine for about $5 less from Robby.jp.
Didn't know about the R2-Q5 chase piece. Daggnabbit, now I have to go looking for that.
I can fire off a set to someone for about $40 shipped. No chase.
-
Didn't know about the R2-Q5 chase piece.
If only there were some sort of Star Wars news site you could read to find out about these things... :-X
Daggnabbit, now I have to go looking for that.
While you are chasing R2Q5, watch for the 3rd chase too - Shadow Stormie:

You know I can't read. Sheesh.
-
Guys,
Just heard back from my friend in Japan about the SD Shadow Stormie:
It's Hyper Hobby Exclusive SD BH Stormie .
$3.00 at collector's Toy Shop.
CB
-
Heard from Echo Base that when you buy the May issue of Hyper Hobby you get this figure as a gift, this may be what my friend meant, things get lost in translation.
CB
-
I got mine for about $5 less from Robby.jp.
I ordered a box from Robby.jp too, but they've pretty much stopped sending me anything I order. I guess I can understand that since I'm small peanuts compared to real store orders. It's probably just as well since I don't really need another line to collect.
But if anyone has an extra Vader I'd be interested. :)
-
I guess I can understand that since I'm small peanuts compared to real store orders.
Just order 15-20 Kubrick Master Cases per year - they treat you really well if you do that... :P

No doubt, they probably know you on a first name basis. ;)

Amazingly they haven't turfed me out just yet. But I do occasionally buy other things from them and they might feel guilty because they royally screwed up a couple of my orders.
Jesse, I just don't want to break up my set, otherwise I'd send you the Vader but that'll leave me with five lonely deformed figures with no real homes. I'm sure I could move Fett and the stormtrooper, but after that it gets iffy.
My buddy is looking into the deformed shadow trooper for me. He's telling me it'll run about $10 after all is said and done with the magazine. Not sure if he's pocketing a couple of bucks or not, but it doesn't bug me that much. He's saved me so much on Kubricks it's easily worth it.
-
I'd take the Yoda if you start splitting the case.
-
Case Break down for my box of 12:
Stormie x2
Vader x2
Fett x2
R2-D2 x2
C3-PO x2
Yoda x 1
R2-Q5 x1
I promised the Yoda to my neice's husband to be, so I'm after that one for myself now and the K-3po if I can find it!

Morg,
If you still have a set of 6 I'll take it.
Jesse, I'll sell you the Vader if this happens.
CB
-
You know what? I checked and it looks like they pop out the Yoda in each box to put in the chase figure. So I don't have an extra Yoda or a set of six at all. What I have is the following:
Vader
Fett
Stormtrooper
R2-D2
C-3PO
One of each of those. $5 for each. Shipping extra or we could trade maybe instead. I'd prefer to offload them all to one happy home.
So Jesse, since Doc mentioned it first, if he can help you with a Vader, go that way. If my not having a set for him puts a damper on it, I have a spare, lonely Vader and you have first dibs.
-
I'll pass since it does not have the Yoda I'm after.
I may just get another box of 12 and take my chances on the chase.
I'll let you guys know what extras I end up with if I do this.
CB
-
Hey Doc, if you decide to get another box let me know and I might order one too (if you can get two boxes)
-
You might be better off ordering them yourself, save on shipping.
Someone over at Yodas News posted the link(below)
As far as the chase, I hope I get the K-3po this time around, if I get the R2-Q5 I'll see if anyone here wants to make the swap.
Another line to get hooked on!
From Kubricks to this!
where did you get those they are awsome
Big Bad Toy Store (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TOM10022&mode=retail) has them...but pricey little suckers.

Got my shadow stormie wrapped up, it's in the mail on the way here now. Just need to find the R2-Q5.
Anyone know if they've announced series 2 at all? Don't know if I'm going after that round or not. I'm expecting much more along the lines of a PT set in series 2 so I'd probably pass on that.
-
Nothing on a Series 2, but I hope they keep making them.
I may have the R2-Q5 if my new box does not have the K-3po in it.
CB
-
Got K-3po in my other box which showed up today!(sorry Morg no R2-Q5)
Have the whole series now.
Also got the Shadow Stormie from my friend in Japan, the box it comes in is big!
I'll have to get SB to take some pics for me.
I hope they keep making these.
CB
-
No worries, glad you got it to finish the set. Off to ebay I go...
-
They have them at freebento.com

Ha!
I just posted the link over at Yodas news, was just looking to find a R2-Q5 for Morg, no luck so far on ebay or retailers.
Might be worth a shot to ask Freebento though, he may have ordered more.
He has some on ebay as well, but more expensive.
Here is a link to all he has:

Can some one tell me a good place to get a few of these at a reasonable price? I just saw these for the first time today and would love to get the Vader and Stormtrooper. Does anyone here have these to for sale?
-
I just ordered another box of 12 and some Stormies from FB.
I can sell you the Stormie and Vader.
Morg, if I get the R2-Q5 he is all yours.
The Yoda is spoken for yet again, I know too many Yoda fans.

Got my shadow stormtrooper today. Huge box for such a little toy. Doc is helping me out very kindly with the R2-Q5 so series 1 is all wrapped up. Yay.
-
Rock on.
I hope they make more.
Kod

If anybody has extra of the chase ones let me know. I have the regular set and Shadow Stormtrooper so far.

Yup, I thought the same thing.

I just got a box of these, but still need Yoda and R2-Q5. I would trade a C-3PO or R2-D2 for a Yoda or both of them for a R2-Q5. Let me know.
-
We need another Series of these!
CB
-
OK over at HLJ they say it's a box of 8 not 12
http://www.hlj.com/product/TMD31144
I'd like to grab some but I'd like to know if HLJ are right/wrong and if I've even linked to the right product!
-
I got mine from HLJ a while back and I'm pretty sure there were only 8 in a box.
-
Well they sent me a box of 12 when I ordered and the box looked just like that one they link to. It was a full set of six, then K-3PO in the second Yoda box and one of each of the rest (so second full set minus the Yoda). Set of 6 + 1 chase + 5 'extras'.
-
I bought two boxes and didn't get a yoda in either one, by the way.
-
Well I've ordered a box as the price means I won't get too much if any customs tax. That's assuming they don't add the postage and the product cost together on the customs form.
-
I got mine today.
They came in a plain white box of 8 figures (the box had lucasfilm copyright stuff on so not a generic box)
I got
1x Boba Fett
1x Darth Vader
1x C3PO
2x Stormtrooper
2x R2D2
1x K3PO
I really wanted a Yoda to be honest but I'm gonna get another box as a friend is interested and the tax I paid was small.
-
Too bad we never saw another set of these.
There were some of my favorites along with the koto magnets.
