Title: Welcome to the new Saga Collection forum!
Post by: JediMAC on July 13, 2005, 06:58 PM
Well, we've been mulling over whether it's time to start a new forum section here on whatever line it is that Hasbro has in store for us once the Revenge of the Sith line has (soon) run it's course.  So that brings us here, to the new "Whatever the hell it's called" forum.

Might just be the somewhat redundant and potentially confusing The Saga Collection, per RS's rumored label.  But we'll wait and see what Hasbro has to say on it before we decide for sure.  We'll start it out with a few of these threads that for sure fall into this line, though we'll likely move some more in here soon.  Sounds like there's going to be a slight change to the packaging from the OTC/Post-OTC run, so if that's really the case, then we'll definitely keep this section going.  But if it's nearly identical, maybe we'll move it all back into the OTC one.  Could be a long running subline too, worth of it's own section here.  Time will tell...

Or, would you JD'ers just prefer things to remain status quo, and have us just lump everything into the OTC/Post-OTC forum like we've been doing?  We're open to your thoughts on the matter, as always...

- Matt

No, leave it this way! I don't want to dig through old OTC topics to find the threads about newer figures. It's looking good already!

I like the "Whatever" name too. Really puts in the "I no longer care" theme we've seen since today's announcements. :P

My vote is either TSC for "The Saga Collection" or SAGA2 sorta like POTF2.

What is gaining momentum in my eyes however is that "The What-da-F? Collection"

 ;D

Or "WTF" for the abbreviation. I like! 8)

Originally I was thinking TSC, but Saga2 is growing on me. We'll have to wait and see what develops I guess.

Keep it "Whatever." Hasbro can't think of a name, why bother? ???

PS I love that avatar, Mr. Colman.  :)

I like seeing the rumored new line have its own section as well.  Hopefully we'll learn more about the 2006 (late 2005?) plans later today at the Q and A, I'm looking forward to that.  Otherwise, it has been a somewhat disappointing convention from Hasbro to me, with some good things here and there...and a whole slew of rehashes.  It will be curious to see what the line will be called.  I kind of a like a "Saga" type label, since this will basically be the first line that will have all six movies included...but I can see the confusion with the AOTC/Saga line.  They should have just called that the "AOTC" line just like TPM and ROTS were.  Anyways, thanks for the new section, hopefully we'll have more to discuss after the Q and A today.  Wow, that's a lot of abbreviations in one paragraph ;).

Apparently the new line is officially called:

The Saga Collection.

Those new cards look retarded, though marginally better than the stupid ROTS monstrosities.

Why can't they go back to the tried-and-true squared bubbles instead of these dumb wraparound things? In fact, with the way the sides bulge out the bubble itself looks WORSE than ROTS. Bah.

Hopefully it will grow on me....

Yeah, I like the logos, so if it was even just squared off I'd be a lot happier.

I like the card colors, but I hate that stupid curve design. Looks too fat. >:(

I was going to say something about "junk in the trunk", but this will suffice.  :)

The card design and stuff looks good, but I agree that the bubble could have been done a tad better (a.k.a. square bubbles).

Oh yeah and the forum name I like is "WTF, Saga Collection?"

I guess the card design is the reason for the design of the Star Case they sold the Holo-Leia's in.

I like the design tweak while still staying true to the Vintage type packaging. I'm glad we'll start to get some PT waves regularly as well.

Not too keen on the mini-holo figure idea, mostly 'cause I don't know much about it. Like for example, if there are 6 new figures and only 3 new holos and then each of those 6 figures come with each of the three different holos, THAT WILL SUCK - especially for the super-strict variant set. For me it will force me to hunt not just for the figure, but for the figure that contains the mini-holo I need/want.

So if they always pack the same mini-holo with any one figure, that will make me happy, but then if the same mini-holo figure comes with more than one figure, that will mean I'll have LOTS of mini-holo figures floating around.

I dunno - I would have rather they revisit fact files or just include sculpted bases instead of the gray rectangles. Anyone who was on the fence about buying the figures isn't going to make the purchase based solely on the inclusion of the mini-holo fig, so I don't truly understand the marketing behind this decision....  ???

Just for handy reference, I though I'd quote Nathan here:

Quote
Each wave of action figures will be focused on a classic battle, and include the iconic characters. Look for 56 figures, split into 8 waves, and as an added bonus, each figure will inlcude a bonus holographic mini figure. The waves are as follows:

Battle of Carkoon from Episode VI will include 6 figures
Battle of Hoth from Episode V will include 8 figures
Battle of Coruscant from Episode III will include 6 figures
Battle of Geonosis from Episode II will include 7 figures
Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV will include 7 figures
Battle of Endor from Episode VI will include 8 figures
Battle of Naboo from Episode I will include 8 figures
Battle of Death Star from Episode IV will include 6 figures

*blushing* Giving credit where due, I was quoting Rebelscum.
