The Vintage Collection / Re: Big Items of the Future!
« on: February 14, 2022, 02:09 AM »
I would consider that fairly insanely low for a Star Wars item that required massive tooling investment (if that is the case).  That’s much more in the realm of what “boutique” toy line runs are like.  And they often do sell out.  Would be curious how it compares to the other sets out.

Really?  I don't know if I'd say insanely low for a big ticket item like this. I know these are Haslab numbers, but 20k seems like it's right in the range of other big new development projects.

Marvel Galactus 32k
Razor Crest 28k
Marvel Sentinel 22k
-------TBOBF Throne Room 20k -------
GIJoe Skystriker 16k
Transformers Unicron 10k
Khetanna 9k

So I was away from the house for about 45 minutes and that's when Fed Ex decided to show up!  I literally saw the truck going the opposite way on the road as I was on my way home.   :(

Kids were home with the wife, did not tell my wife that it was a Fed Ex guy at the door.  I decided to have it sent to a local Fed Ex place and that can take up to 48 hours.  **** me right?!

You decided to have it sent to Fed Ex AFTER is was delivered?  I didn't know you could do that.

I successfully redirected the Barge to a pickup location while it was in transit, but have not had good luck getting that to work since.  When they gave us the opportunity to modify the address, I changed my home address to my local pickup site (in the Pulse system, not the FedEx system).  I'm hoping I didn't shoot myself in the foot with that since it now doesn't have my home address anywhere on it.

I've never seen an episode of Droids, but this is what I was referring to.  I thought I caught some comment in TBOBF that eluded to him having ridden large beasts before and my mind immediately went to this.

Yeah, the fight scenes weren't all that well thought through.  They wanted us to think those characters were goners, then be surprised when they were just wounded.  The Trandoshan thing bothered me the most - those guys supposedly hunt and enslave wookies, but a mob of them couldn't take one wookie down?  I can roll with the Boba riding a Rancor thing - doesn't he ride some big sea creature in the Droids series?  But if you're going that route, show him riding a big creature on Kamino instead of softly gazing out the window.  The visuals in this show were amazing, but the story flowed like a cheap cartoon.

Well, this thing was a hassle to get, but I Am really digging the figure.  The long rifle on him is fantastic, as is the Pram for Grogu.  I had a little trouble getting the stand to go in the pram, but putting the pin and socket under a hair dryer for 20 seconds fixed that.  The cap on the little egg comes off to reveal the yolk inside.  Still feel this was over priced, but it is really well done.

Opening up the 6 inch figures saves TONS of space. I'm just beginning that journey. Plus, I get the nostalgia for carded TVC figures considering the history there. But is anyone really clamoring to keep 6 inch figures in the generic packaging?

You would be surprised.  Lots of people paying for just empty boxes of BS stuff.  Some people want the original generic black boxes, others want the new galaxy figures for the side artwork that forms a larger image.  I've saved a few boxes, but mostly just as a reference or because that particular figure is more rare.

Okay good, mine looks like the one on the right too.  It's entirely possible I was reading too quick and someone was just pointing out that it was similar to an old droid.

Probably.   I just looked up the droids from the Disney Rogue One 4-pack.  Check out R2-BHD from that multipack - it looks like the one on the left.

I'm going to call shenanigans on that.  I have four of them and they all look like the one on the right.  I've also browsed through dozens of images of these and have never seen a red dot one.  Looks to me like the one on the left is actually R2-BHD from the 2016 Droid Depot 4-pack.  The dotted line just under the dome is a dead giveaway.

How does the $6.99 flat shipping rate work for large preorders, is it per order or per shipment / box? If I were to have combined the Throne Room Set with some individual figures expected to release a full year earlier, would I only be paying the $6.99 once, or multiple times?

That's a good question.  I think it must be per order.  I just tried building a new order with four items and it was still $6.99 shipping.  I can't imagine they would come back and charge you more if they shipped separately.

This has been popping in and out of stock on Target.com the past couple of days.

I know JediJman scored one yesterday and it was already delivered today.

After 100 tries (they only last for 30 seconds each time) I managed to snag one today.  Hopefully the order doesn't get cancelled and mine gets delivered in 24 hours as well.

My initial delivery said Monday - no idea why it showed up on my doorstep 24 hours later.  Whatever system they're using to release these a handful at a time has been a royal pain in the arse.  For all the time I put in trying to catch one and the $37 price tag, I'm going to have to take a long look in the mirror about my priorities.  Right after I pop this sucker open!

Anyone else get very excited to see the knee rockets finally get used?

Boba Fett used the knee rockets on Tython...didn't he?

I don't remember that, but I could watch knee rockets and jetpack scenes all. day. long.

I think this show should open with a de-aged Luke opening Obi-Wan's journals to lead into the story.  Clearly at some point Luke went back to Dagobah to collect Yoda's things (or he took them before leaving to face Vader).  It stands to reason he cleaned out Obi-Wan's belongings as well.

I'm guessing we get two choppy episodes of Obi-Wan interacting with the tuskens and walking everywhere he goes.  Then the remaining episodes will focus on the Mandalorian and Grogu.    :D

Well you guys can thank me later when 2 million of these end up in the clearance bin.

I went ahead and bought the rare two for $70 each because I didn't want to end up paying twice as much later if they don't show up in bigger numbers.

I'm not happy about it, it's absurd, but it's done.

And just like that...

I'll be honest, I'm starting to tire of some elements of the 6" line.  All the unnecessary Boba Fett variations, Gaming Greats repaints, Bad Batch armor variations, credit collection, pre-order stress, price increases, etc.  It's not nearly as fun as it used to be.

I've managed to skip Archive repaints and the credit collection, but with more and more of these coming out and some of these variants really not being that interesting, I think I'm about to pull the plug most of the way out on this line and only get totally new figures, and maybe even only OT figures.

I still mostly love everything going on with TVC 3.75" (too many Mando variants) and will keep that line going, but I'm not sure how much steam I've got left for 6".

I was reaching that point and then I Started opening and displaying them around the holidays.  Completely renewed my interest in the line and I was starting to regret some of the ones I passed up on, like the Amazon Order 66 pack, which now goes for hundreds of dollars.  I am getting to the point though where I need to quit with doubles and really minor variations.  The archive figures for example are always slightly different from the original releases, so I've been picking up most of those.  Just not enough space and money to get everything.

I will say that getting up to speed on a display has been a big help in limiting my purchases.  I've pretty much finished all my Transformers, Marvel, and other non Star Wars stuff and just seeing that space filled has resulted in me walking away from some newer items.  I'm sure I'll buy some figures here and there to swap out, but easier to turn it down with the realization I literally have no where to put it.

I guess figures from Morak just cost more?

Well, I'm sure the shipping alone from Morak to Earth is astronomical.  ;D
