The Redneck Way of Public Protest
From the story:
Duty’s lawyer, Earl-Ray Neal, said his client, who graduated near the top of her class, was depicted as a racist after the incident and lost many college scholarships.
Neal said they were suing for actual and punitive damages in excess of $50,000. No specific dollar amount was listed. Duty graduated from Russell High School in 2004. She is attending college and working part-time.$50,000? They must not have been very good colleges. Or scholarships.
Did her "heritage" also include slave ownership? Because if her 9th amendment has really been violated over this dress thing, I think she should go all the way and demand to have a few "unpaid assistants" around to produce her inevitably tasteless Dixie wedding dress.
She's got a clear 2nd amendment case, but the "cultural heritage" one feels a little weak. My cultural history practiced polygamy 150 years ago. None of my relatives were around for it, but it still sounds sooooo cool. I'm trying figure out how to invoke my 9th amendment rights to pick up a few more wives.
