Which of the many Stormtrooper figures is considered the best and most accurate ?

Without a doubt it's the VOTC. No comparison really.
Some people have cited very minor inaccuracies in the sculpt, but it's mostly Stormtrooper Die-hards. I know that people have used the Bust-Up Stormtrooper head to make customs using the VOTC body, as they say the Bust-Up's helmet is 100% accurate while the VOTC has a slight sculpt difference that isn't as accurate...
For what it's worth though, the VOTC is a well made figure all around in my book, save the lame-o holster. Superior to any Stormtrooper prior to it.

No way... I'll take the original '95 POTF2 Stormtrooper any day. Way better sculpt and likeness, and much more articulation.

The only downfall of the VOTC stormie is that if you try to put him in a bent leg stance, his knees sort of go together like he's really got to take a leak.

Well, it's not bad, it just was strange.
Hasbro didn't really make a complete holster... They made one that's kind of open on the back, and you slip the blaster barrel through a notch in the holster at the top, and it was to sort of stick there in the holster (the back of the holster's sort of "molded" like the blaster barrel... Hard to explain). The end result is that the rifle sorta sticks out if you have it holstered, but it's really not terribly noticeable. Why Hasbro didn't just make a compelte holster with a "back" on it, or a "sleeve" that covers the entire gun barrel (ala any other holster they've done), I do not know. It's completely possible that it can be done, they just were trying something different it seems.
It's really hard to explain it, without a picture. If someone knows of one showing what I'm talking about I'm sure they'll link you.
It's the figure's only drawback in my eyes. I can get my Stormies to sit fine, kneel, run, die, lunge, stand at attention with guns up, down, or arms at their sides... It's simply a great figure to me. As close to perfection as Hasbro has ever acheived I think.

What about that new sandtrooper in the evolution pack. How does it compare ?

Comparable, or I'm guessing potentially better, however I'm not a fan of "dirty" paintjobs. Too limiting for dioramas, but I'll amass a nice number of that figure if I can nonetheless.
At C3, it looked good to me though... Maybe even better than the VOTC Stormie.

TRU's they still appear in. That's all I hear at this point though.
I'd like more myself... Tough to come by for me, but our own Kneel Before Zod (Rob) has quite a hefty army. :) He found lots.
I found that the biggest floodgate opening of them was when Wal-Mart clearanced the OTC/VOTC and stuff that never saw pegs at that store wound up hitting pegs for $7 or less! I got 3 Stormies that way actually.

There's still some available online, but they run around $15-$20 each. That's how I got all of my ROTJ figures, as they never showed up in stores here, at least to my knowledge.

Ughh, the ESB wave didn't even ship here to Iowa - everyone was clogged to the brim with wave one.
I had to pick up the ESB wave online and the ROTJ wave in some small podunk town for $13 a piece! :o
And then TRU got some in a few months later!

The weekend before last I picked up 3 at TRU for 9.99 each. However, if it were an exclusive and 12.99 each, I'd have left them where they were :D

I agree with everybody that the VOTC Stormie is the best ever. The onlyl thing that I think could improve it would be ball-jointed hips like the AT-TE Gunner, but as it is now, the VOTC Stormtrooper is my favorite Star Wars figure ever (nostalgia not being a factor ;) )
I actually picked up a VOTC Stormtrooper at my TRU this week during a toy-run. TRU is the only place that seems to still be getting shipments of the VOTC figures in (a couple of weeks ago my TRU was fully stocked with the ROTJ shipment).

I nabbed two more tonight at TRU... It seems the more remote the TRU, the better your chances of finding this figure as well... I've found fewer the closer to the city I go, but the further out, the more there are.... They're definitely still landing at that store though, as it was less than a month ago I got what I figured would be the last one at that TRU. They had more in back I guess, in a case that appears to be mixed with Yoda's and Lando's... I see no other ROTJ figures than the Stormie though.

no freaking way! I hit a tru today and they were filled to the brim with yodas and landos, something they didnt have the last time i visted there about 2 weeks ago. man I coulda potentially missed out on VOTC Stormies, blah!

I'd say it's very likely you missed on them... I forget the case ratios for VOTC now though, but I DO recall there definitely was one that was mostly ESB figs with some ROTJ repacks.
Bummer you missed... If you can get to one further out from the city, that's my best suggestion. They seem more likely to have this stuff I've found. :(

I was just thinking of hitting this one TRU that I've rarely been to before cause it's a bit out of the way, but at the same time I never hear about any other people in my area going there. Will have to see if it's still around. And even though the Vintage Stormie is well Vintage, VOTC Stormie is still the best Stormie and probably the best Star Wars figure ever.
