Hello. I have a few quick questions. Does anyone know when Snakes on a Plane is due out on DVD? Also, is the new King Kong DVD any good? I'm considering picking it up, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance.

Wikipedia says it's coming out on January 2.

I picked up the Simpsons Season 8 (Maggie head - only version they had) at Circuit City Sunday for $19.99.  I know that both season 7 & 8 were released in both head and box version.  Can anyone tell me if there's an offer to send in for the box like season 6 had?  I'd rather not open this so that I could return it and price match it at WM for the boxed version.

I went a little nutty on the sales today....

Cool Hand Luke, Memoirs of a Geisha, Schindler's List, The Thin Red Line, After the Sunset - $4 each.

The Office season 1 - 8.99

Family Guy volumes 1 and 3 - $16 each.

Simpsons Seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 - $16 each

Gun (Xbox 360) - $16.99

Ouch.

Have to say, I'm really looking forward to this upcoming Tuesday and the release of Superman2: the Richard Donner cut.

I picked up the James Bond Volumes 1 and 2 a few days ago... I'd only ever seen some of these films as fullscreen VHS', edited for TV, so these DVD's are really brilliant in comparison. I'm looking forward to picking up the other two volumes, plus Casino Royale.

Picked up the Donner Superman.  I just watched it and IMO this cut is far better than the theatrical version.  Feels like a totally new movie.  Much more story oriented.   Interested if anyone else disliked.

Cool - I have the (lame) box set from a few years back so I most likely will not purchase the new set (which looks very cool BTW).

With that said, I might rent the new Donner cut just because Superman II was just as good as the first one.

I agree Jim.

I sat and watched the entire disk in one sitting, the movie, the deleted scenes, the documentary and the movie again with commentary. It's not without flaws due to the use of the screen test scene and the more obvious Lester material (and you can tell that Stuard baird did not edit the film), but the story is far superiour to that if the Lester version. It's a crime against the art of film making what the Salkinds did to Donner. He woud have made a three and four would he have stayed on.

I'd give anything to forget the 'movies' known as Superman III and IV.

Picked up the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 Special Edition 2 disc set, and got a sweet T-Shirt with my purchase at Wal*Mart.

We picked up Pirates 2 yesterday as well.  I had the 2 disc edition in our cart, but we ended up putting it back and getting the "regular" version.  Target was charging $25 for the 2 disc, and $15 for the regular, and I just couldn't justify $10 for special features.  I'd pay it for a Star Wars or Spider-Man/etc. title, and almost did here, but with doing some Christmas shopping for others as well, we figured the $10 could be better spent.  I usually enjoy that extra stuff, but the wife could probably care less, so we went with the cheaper versions.  I think this is the biggest price difference I can remember, at least from DVDs we've been interested in, between the "deluxe" and "regular" versions.

Is Miami Vice worthy of a blind purchase or simply a rental?

Without knowing your tastes, I'd say rent it. I liked it, but not enough to make it part of my collection.

Rent it, Miami Vice was slick, and had it's moments, but it was also down right laughable at parts.
