Title: Adventure Team - 3.75"
Post by: efranks on March 5, 2010, 08:04 PM
Have you guys seen the card art for the new 3.75" Adventure Team figures over on the Club's site (http://www.gijoeclub.com/AT10sets.cfm)?

Very excited over this.  The art looks great, I'm just excited to see the figures.  They're going to each be sold with a vehicle, which I don't care for, but I think I'll be getting these anyway.

The yellow AT Gyrocopter/FANG is awesome.  They showed it for the first time at the 2009 Joecon Club panel.  They've had the copters made and in storage since last summer.

I can't wait for Dr Venom and the rest of the sets.  They'll have them at Joecon in April.

I'm sort of interested in these, but I am not a member.  Will I still be able to order them if I remain a non-member?  Is the club thing worth signing up for to get these guys?

You have a couple of choices.  You could sign up as a Trooper level member which is free and gives you access to the forums and a price on exlcusives that's usually about $10 or so higher than a paid Officer level member pays.  Or you can join the club for $42 a year which, if you join before March 16th, you'll get a free action figure and a subscription to the monthly newsletter, plus you'll save at least $10 on each exclusive.  If you're planning on getting the full AT line, you're going to save more than $40 by becoming an Officer level member.

This year's free figures are a 3.75" Big Lob and the 12" is the Urban Adventurer.  There's also an accessory set you can buy for the Urban Adventurer that includes a full outfit and accessories.  The monthly newsletter just changed this year and has more pages than in the past and is on glossy paper, more like a comic book now.

I've been really happy paying the membership fee since 2002 and just re-upped last week for another year.

I'm most interested in the little rover type vehicle for the 3-3/4" scale... it's yellow/orange and has either 4 or 6 wheels, not sure.  Any info on that offering?

I think it's the Land Adventurer that comes with a yellow repaint of the Battle Blitz (http://www.yojoe.com/12inch/92/heavyduty1.shtml).

The Air Adventurer has a yellow FANG chopper and the Adventure Team Commander comes in a 2-pack with Dr. Venom and a man-eating plant accessory.  The plant is the same one the Club put in their 2007 Terror on the Sea Floor 12" convention set.

If those three sets sell then they'll do the Sea Adventurer but I'm not sure what vehicle he'll have.  A proto was shown with a sub but I read that there was a problem with the figure fitting, so I don't know the outcome of that.  And I'd have to dig to know what ship they were repainting for that.

There are several vehicles that they likely still have the molds for at the Big H...

The Water Moccasin is very AT looking to me as well as the Firebat.

I will be all over this line if I they continue it.

I would love if the club did the same treatment to the Action Soldier/Sailor/Marine/Pilot too.

Thanks efranks... I looked around and found some comparison pics.  Looks like the same mold like you said.

There are 30th Anniversary versions of them with o-rings.  Updating them to 25th sculpts wouldn't be that bad, but you can almost recreate them with existing ARAH figures except for the paint on the Action Marine.

O ring versions would rock.

I've had the O-ring versions of the Action Soldier and Sailors... I just need them in 25th style!!

These AT guys will go a long way towards that.

The Battle Blitz looks cool.  I'm sure the AT version is going to be awesome.  I don't even remember this coming out in 2003.

Updated versions of the Action Soldier/Sailer/etc. would rock.  I'd really like seeing fuzz-head style AT figures too.  Am I alone in that?  Real fuzzy heads?  Meh, maybe I'm dreaming.

I'd probably try getting my hands on a set of those though since original Joes just rock.

I had no idea they were doing all this stuff.  Very cool.

I had some old 12 inch figures "re-flocked" by Hair Club for Joe (I think that is the name)...

I wonder if the ******* is too "large" to work properly on the 3 3/4 figs.  May require a trip to the Hobby shop.

They introduced these at Joecon by showing photoshopped figures.  During the 2009 Joecon Club Roundtable I think they said they considered ******* them but it wouldn't work/would be expensive.  Vaguely remember them saying this somewhere but I'm not sure.

Plus, as tight ast 1:18 Headgear is, it would rub off pretty quick...

Funny how our language filter thinks "*******" is dirty....

Now we just need a 1:18 scale white tiger and pygmy gorilla.....

This line is the best thing the club has done (in concept so far) in a long time!

I'm getting more excited for these with each picture.  My only worry is how much they're going to cost.  I'll probably buy one or two at the con and then spread the others out over a couple of months.  I'd definitely want to get all three sets.

I'd almost like to buy two each so tha I could leave the figures carded, but that could get expensive.

These are going to be expensive.  The fancy packaging definitely doesn't help the price.  I bet these are going to be $60 a set.  The Blades/HAWK Copter was $28 at the 2009 Joecon but they were loose in a bag.  These are going to be like $25 for carded figure + $25 for vehicle and $10 packaging.

I am trying to keep from looking at old 1:6 scale AT stuff (to get an idea what a certain custom parts shop needs to make) because I am have a weakness for those things.

But, it would be really cool to have some of those Lanard or Chap Mei vehicles in Yellow...

And 8 ropes of danger in 1:18 scale....

I've shyed away from this exclusive stuff for a long time - especially since not getting back into Joe until 07, but this stuff looks pretty nifty.

I'd be surprised if they're that much.  I don't think they're going to be as limited as the Blades/Chopper was plus they've had a hard time selling out the M.O.T.H. sets and they're only like $25 for two figures.

I'm hoping for a $35 price tag or less but I'm betting $45-ish.  If they're more, I won't buy any of them.  The 12" exclusive figures, non-talking, have been in the $40 range and they include boxes and outfits.  We'll see in a few days I guess.

AT sets up for preorder over at the club store.  They are a lot cheaper than I expected.  $34.99 for each of the 2 vehicle sets and $44.99 for the Dr Venom set.  1200 of each set according to Lanny at the Club forum.

Nice!  That's what I was hoping for.  I'm going to pre-order the Commander and Venom pack and then next month order another plus pick one up at the convention.

It surprises me that the Venom pack is more expensive but I guess with the figure and the accessory it pushes it up.  Still, the Land Adventurer comes with the ATV and the weapon crate.

I pre-ordered the Commander/Venom 2-pack and have had it for a while, but I finally got around to ordering my second set, Land Adventurer w/ ATV.  I put in an order for some stuff they had on their latest sale so I figured I'd get this se to help break up the shipping.

It's a nice set.  The ATV looks decent and has two crates of weapons with it.  The figure has a good looking paint job and plenty of accessories as well.  Haven't opened him yet (haven't opened Commander/Venom either) but I think I will get around to it at some point.

I was also in Walmart today and found one of the 1:18 scale Hummers that they sell, the Adventure sets with the boats, campers, animals and such.  It was on clearance for only $6 and it's the yellow version with a red kayak so I picked it up.  Took a few of the stickers off and it's a great looking AT vehicle.  Just need to see if I can find some AT stickers or get some of those water slide decals that you can print on to give it a few finishing touches.

When the Club had their sale at the end of 2012, I finally ordered up the Air and Sea Adventurer sets.  Got around to opening them today and they're pretty good sets.  I like the Helicopter from the AA set, it has some cool features and is a good size.

I was more impressed with the Mini-Sub from the Sea Adventurer set.  I never owned the Mantis vehicle but it's got plenty of action features, it's quite large, and it holds the 25th/30th figures really well.  I'm pretty happy to have them and they complete my set.

I also have an extra Land Adventurer w/ 6 Wheel ATV set but I don't need another so was wondering if anyone here wanted it before I took it to eBay?  PM me if interested.
