Yeah, that scene is hilarious, you are right Scott.  Its a movie we haven't yet picked up on DVD, but the more I read the comments and think back about it, we may have to.

We'll be catching this one as well if we can.  Big Will Ferrell fans, and all of his movies seem to have that sense of humor that we enjoy.  I kind of agree that he saved "Old School" as well, but I also enjoyed Vince Vaughn in that movie...."earmuffs".  I think I might have been expecting too much when I saw it though, but it was good.

In our house here I have my old NES, Playstation, and Gamecube.  I also had a Sega Genesis growing up, which is still at my parents' house.  Spent a fair amount of time on each of them through the years, probably the most with the NES, or possibly the Playstation.

Other Collectibles / Upcoming Playskool Jedi Force Line
« on: June 29, 2004, 08:24 AM »
These do look kind of spiffy.  Our nephews are big into the Rescue Heroes/Major Powers line of things, and they get some pretty big vehicles and playsets in those lines.  Who knows, maybe there would be a Death Star type playset in this line? (gasp)  Anyways, I really like these.  I've been picking up all the OT Galactic Heroes (previously Playskool) sets, and might get these as well.  I kind of wish they would have just picked one or the other to go with though...but both look kind of nice.  I guess I always like seeing something different, or a new idea for the Star Wars line like this.  Might help get the kiddos interested in it.  The Vader does look quite cool, and Chewie, R2, and 3PO are nice as well.  Luke looks a little strange to me, but its more the style of figures than anything else.  They are kind of neato though.  Anyone thinking about picking these up?  Part of me wants to, even though I know the last thing I need is another collection.

So far all that has shown up around here are the lightsabers (Luke, Yoda, and Anakin) in the silver/black packaging, as well as the basic lightsabers.  Still on the look out for Vader's TIE, as well as the Falcon as it sounds like that is starting to show up as well.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What Are You Playing?

Actually, right now I've been playing a fair amount of NBA Live 2004 on the Gamecube.  I'm a big hoops fan, and really enjoy this game.  Also broke out ye olde Nintendo last week too and played a little Tecmo Super Bowl.  I haven't gotten any new games for quite some time now, thinking about picking up the Spider-Man 2 game, sounds like it is supposed to be pretty good.  We'll see.

While out shopping this weekend I got to thinking about this.  As far as the lines you collect, which do you feel are the "easiest" or least stressful to get.  As far as finding the figures, price, chases, etc., tying all those aspects in, which work out the best for you?

For me, Star Wars is my first priority and it has always seemed around here that if you see new figures, you buy them then and there, or you might not see them again.  Sometimes they later show up in greater abundance, and sometimes they don't.  As a general rule of thumb, from now on if I see it (and have the cash), I buy it.

Marvel Legends/Spidey Classics - I've just started collecting Spidey a little more, but did find all of Series 9 this weekend.  I passed on Rhino, only because I had already bought two figures this weekend, but I'd like to go back and pick it up (if still there).  I haven't had much troubles finding the Marvel Legends figures I want...although I haven't collected the line in its entirety either.  I will say when I have checked the pegs, I don't think I've ever seen any of the previous "chase" figures (Doombot, Goliath, etc.).  However, the regular releases seem to be somewhat easy to locate.

Lord of the Rings - The only other line I collect much at all right now, and even so, not much of it.  These seem to sell really well around here, Wal-Mart stocks and sells out pretty regularly.  I've been able to find most of what I'm looking for...but again...I don't collect the whole line so it is kind of tough to judge.  Right now it is kind of slim around here, lots of Gollums, King Aragorns, and 8" Treebeards.

I also dabble in minimates, but it doesn't seem like the TRU here carries them at all.  The one we used to visit had the 4 packs, but I haven't seen them here yet.  These will probably be bought online if I continue collecting them.

That's about it for me, but I was just curious what you feel are the most stress-free lines to collect.  We all know that each line has their problems here or there, but if there was one or two lines that would be easiest for you, which ones would they be?

Count me in as well.  We went over and bought our tickets for a Wednesday matinee (1:00), so hopefully we're all set to go.  We both had vacation time to use up, and Wednesday happens to be my birthday as well, so I thought that was a good present.  I'm really looking forward to this movie...Spidey (and comics) were second to only Star Wars with me growing up (and still today :P).  From what I have heard, this is a really good movie, with fans and critics both really enjoying it.  Plus, Doc Ock is a great Spidey villain (probably my favorite), so its good to see him in this one.  As far as Spidey 3, it is hard to say.  I'm starting to lean towards the Lizard appearing next, or maybe a combination of one or two (second one being secondary).  There was mention once that the Black Cat was being considered for a supporting part in Spidey 2, but was later written out, so that might be a possibility as well.  It would be curious to see what they could/would do with Venom on the big screen too.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: How's Star Wars Selling in Your Area?

It seems like Star Wars stuff has kind of hit a stand-still around here right now.  Wal-Mart has a glut of Throne Room Luke, Hoth Han, Snowtrooper and SC Anakin....TRU has Dignitaries, Outlander Club, and POTJ Bespin Guards....and Target has a good amount of the Yavin wave (minus TIE Pilots).  Still no sign of the Luke/Anakin cup sets, I did see the Leia ones a week or two ago though.  I hope the gluts get cleared out in time for the OTC, I don't want to miss out on the Dagobah (and Bespin) waves.

Action-figure.com has an article up on the Fantastic 4 box set, which is hitting in Hong Kong now.  Apparently the box set itself has a "variant", with one release of it containing a "clear" Invisible Woman.  The article is HERE

This weekend, I picked up the Spider-Man 2 Magnetic Spidey as well, and this is just a fun figure I think.  He's hanging out on our fridge right now.  I also found the Spidey Classics Black Costumed Spider-Man, which I picked up.  I wanted to get the Ultimate Rhino they had there as well, but felt guilty for already buying two figures.  I'm really thinking about running down to TRU to see if it is still there.  For those of you who have that figure, what do you think of it?  Is it a good pick up?  I missed out on the original "comic" Rhino, so thought I might get this one.

Other Toy Lines / Articulation: How Do You Feel About It?
« on: June 25, 2004, 03:15 PM »
I was originally going to post this in the Marvel thread, but it covers other lines as well.  Hope this is ok.  After reading one of MisterPL's posts over at GH, it kind of got me to thinking about articulation.  He was talking about how some Marvel Legends figures almost end up looking like marionettes with the insane amount of articulation, and I can kind of see what he means.  I guess I was curious what some of you thought about articulation, how much do you like, does it depend on the source (Star Wars, Marvel, military, etc.), is there too much in some situations?  How do you feel about it?

For me, I've always kind of liked articulation.  It doesn't have to be "extreme" for me, but I like it better than statue-like figures.  My favorite forms of articulation are on figures that it is either well hidden, or it doesn't seem to detract from the sculpt too much.  In the Star Wars world, examples of this would be what we have seen from the VOTC, as well as figures like the SA Clonetrooper..and even the Dannl Faytonni type figures.  Also with Star Wars, I don't care if they are all super articulated, just the ones that make sense (main character versions, army builder figs).  I don't need super crazy articulated Dexter Jettster or Orn Free Ta.  Toy Biz seems to usually be setting the bar as far as high articulation counts, in both their Marvel and Lord of the Rings lines, and often it works out pretty well.  They do have some that there might almost be too much at points, and others where it is used pretty well.  Another problem I sometimes have with all the articulation in Toy Biz figures, is that it seems some of my Legends figures (as well as my movie Spidey) have gotten kind of loose in spots, and it isn't because they are moved around much.  I basically take them out of the package, put them in a pose, and set them up....every once in a great while I might change it up, but not often.  Anyways, I guess it sounds like a "middle of the road" answer...I do like articulation, when used well, but I don't have to have 50 points of articulation to be happy.  Sometimes it is neat to see what points they can include, but in some instances they aren't necessary.  Anyways, what is your opinion on articulation....how much do you like, how much is too much, or is there ever too much?

Looks like they have updated the Spidey Classics area as well, I think I'd like to pick up this guy:

Although we've pretty much seen all of the images now, Toy Biz has finally updated their site...with the newer Marvel Legends info:

Toy Biz Marvel Legends

I agree too Scott, about the Vision.  This is another character that to be honest I don't know a whole lot about, but the figures really looks amazing.  I'm so tempted to expand my Marvel Legends lineup here, and figures like Hawkeye and Vision aren't helping that any :P

I hope that is true, because I missed out on the Vader the first time and would really like to pick one up.  It would make sense with the big Vader marketing push of Episode III (as well as the OT DVDs).  Hopefully they do re-release it, and it won't be impossible to find.
