Action-figure.com has a little story (w/pics) up of the Sinister Six box set.  I really hope that this shows around here, because I am really looking forward to it.  A great way to pick up a nice Spidey and several villains in one swoop.  Especially for me, I don't have any Spidey villain figures yet :P.  You can check it out HERE

I remember all those things as well Jeff, those were good times though in card collecting.  I still remember when brands were just starting...the first "Upper Deck" cards in baseball...the Griffey Jr. was the highest price card at the time I think.  The "Pro Set" cards in football (if I am remembering the name right).  The Hoops and Skybox cards in basketball, I remember Skybox being a little more expensive.  I still have all of my b-ball cards, most of my football, and some of my baseball cards.  Simpler times back then, could buy a box of cards for like $20 to $35 depending on the cards.  And there were actually 10+ cards in a pack for awhile there.  Good times.  I remember the Billy Ripken "error" card too, had to laugh when I read that...forgot about that one.

JD Sports Forum! / Boy, Collecting Sports Cards Has Changed...
« on: June 15, 2004, 01:57 PM »
I used to be pretty big into collecting baseball, football, and basketball cards growing up, until I quit collecting them sometime during my high school years.  I think at the time I was getting out of it because packs had gone to the $1 to $3 price range, with less cards in each pack.  Those were some good times though, and I still have many of them.  Boy, has card collecting ever changed since those days....I couldn't believe this article:

Card Collector Strikes It Rich

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Vintage OTC Figures

I see ActionHQ has the VOTC Han, Obi-Wan, and Leia in stock now and ready to ship (for $15.95 a piece).  Hopefully some of the other online stores (EE in particular) will be getting their shipments soon as well :)  I don't think I have personally looked forward to figures this much in quite some time, although I do wish they were a little cheaper.  But, they appear to be showing up...and perhaps the Luke is lagging behind in a different assortment since he isn't offered here either.

Yeah, that X-wing head doesn't look too bad at all, nice work Jeff.  I can see what you mean about the sweaty/matted hair Scott, it would have been a little nicer with a different head sculpt.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Episode III Title?
« on: June 15, 2004, 11:17 AM »
I noticed that article too Scott, I could see that being the title possibly....especially since Lucas likes to "go back" and use things from the past, and "Revenge" was nearly used for ROTJ, but changed because a Jedi wouldn't be "revenging"  :).  Probably couldn't say the same for those wily Sith lords though.

On a side note....it seems like I really get down on the prequels every once in awhile...I still enjoy them, but am just more of an OT person at heart.  That said, it seems once the hype starts for Episode III, and the more I see on hyperspace or various sites, the more excited I start getting for the movies again.  I guess, at the end of the day, its still Star Wars....even if its often not as good as the "good ole days". :)

I agree Jeff, this is the type of rehash I don't mind at all.  That was one of my problems with the Bespin Luke the first time around, it was a really nice figure (even with the action feature and "battle damage"), but I always thought it would be nice to have a clean, "normal" version too.  I'll definitely pick this up if I find it, and I don't mind some of these figures that have some updated paint...or that I missed before (actually looking forward to the Gam. Guard as well).

Thanks for the heads up Mikey, that's a heck of a deal on the Simpsons sets.  Hopefully we can get over to FYE sometime this week, I'd like to pick up Season 3 if they still have it in stock.  I have troubles dropping $40+ on many of these TV sets, but $15 you can't beat.

I'm looking forward to this set too.  I kind of like the Christmas sets, something different and nice to put around the house at the holidays.  I wasn't ever able to locate the Droids set anywhere around here, but might look to pick it up on ebay at some point.  I really liked the Santa Yoda, and hope to add the Jawas this year as well.

Middle Earth / Re: LOTR Trilogy Figures
« on: June 14, 2004, 08:45 AM »
Well, I picked up LOTR figure #3 for myself this past weekend, a Trilogy Gandalf the White.  I'm slowly working on the Mrs. and sneaking one in a shopping trip here and there.  Target had quite a few Trilogy figures hanging on the pegs, and I figured Gandalf is one that doesn't show up quite as often (at least around here), so I'd go that route for now.  Really like these figures, hope to get a few more ;)

Nice work Tydirium...those sure do look nice on the OTC cardbacks.  It would be really nice if they would release these this way.  Not that I don't like the vintage cardbacks, but they would probably sell quite a few more of these figures if they were packaged like this, at the normal pricepoint.  They look great though, again, nice work.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: How's Star Wars Selling in Your Area?
« on: June 14, 2004, 08:29 AM »
Checked out a few stores this weekend again (Target, TRU, Wal-Mart).  The Target had the Leia Cup set, which I picked up (still no sign of Luke/Anakin though).  As far as figures, Target had a few leftovers from the Jabba's Palace and Yavin waves, as well as the TRD Luke/Hoth Han/Snowtrooper/SC Anakin assortment.  Wal-Mart is currently carrying only that assortment (Luke/Han/Snow/Ani).  TRU still has a lot of Dignitaries and Outlander Club waves hanging on the pegs, as well as Ultra Jabbas.

I found the Leia Target cup set this weekend, still no sign of the Luke/Anakin ones though.  Otherwise, the pegs were full of mainly Throne Room Luke/Hoth Han/Snowtrooper/Anakin case, as well as some of the Yavin wave (no Tie Pilots).  Starting to see a lot of Dodonnas around here it seems.

I guess a Holo Emperor would be better than recarding that awful Saga version, as long as the holo wasn't based on that one.  I was really hoping it would have been a VOTC-style Emperor, with cloth, articulated knees, etc.  That would have been a great nod to vintage days, when you sent in for the Emperor then too.  Plus, to see anything more out of the VOTC line is a good thing.

Oh, I remember my buddies and I playing many an hour of Pro Wrestling...good game Scott.  I believe I remember using a guy by the name of "Starman"? the most often.  I've been hoping that Gamecube would come out with NES compilations too.  I still have our old NES, and did have it hooked up before we moved, those games are still so much fun to me.  I can play Tecmo Super Bowl any time.  I've been tempted to get that new NES Gameboy as well, especially if they continue to release classic games.  I don't know if I could justify it though, since I don't travel or anything.  It is pretty spiffy though, the way it looks.
